1Review of Chinese atmospheric science research over the past 70 years: Synoptic meteorology显示文摘Synoptic meteorology is a branch of meteorology that uses synoptic weather observations and charts for the diagnosis,study,and forecasting of weather.Weather refers to the specific state of the atmosphere near the Earth’s surface during a short period of time.The spatial distribution of meteorological elements in the atmosphere can be represented by a variety of transient weather phenomena,which are caused by weather systems of different spatial and temporal scales.Weather is closely related to people’s life,and its development and evolution have always been the focus of atmospheric scientific research and operation.The development of synoptic meteorology is closely related to the development of observation systems,dynamical theories and numerical models.In China,observation networks have been built since the early 1950 s.Up to now,a comprehensive meteorological observation systembased on ground,air and space has been established.In particular,the development of a new generation of dense radar networks,the development of the Fengyun satellite series and the implementation of a series of large field experiments have brought our understanding of weather from large-scale environment to thermal dynamics,cloud microphysical structure and evolution characteristics of meso and micro-scale weather systems.The development of observation has also promoted the development of theory,numerical model and simulation.In the early days,China mainly used foreign numerical models.Lately,China has developed numerical model systems with independent intellectual property rights.Based on the results of high-resolution numerical simulations,in-depth understanding of the initiation and evolution mechanism and predictability of weather at different scales has been obtained.Synoptic meteorology has gradually changed from an initially independent development to a multidisciplinary approach,and the interaction between weather and the change of climate and environment has become a hot and frontier topic in atmospheric science.This paper reviews the important scientific and technological achievements made in China over the past 70 years in the fields of synoptic meteorology based on the literatures in China and abroad,from six aspects respectively including atmospheric dynamics,synoptic-scale weather,typhoon and tropical weather,severe convective weather,numerical weather prediction and data assimilation,weather and climate,atmospheric physics and atmospheric environment.Zhiyong MENG Fuqing ZHANG Dehai LUO Zhemin TAN Juan FANG Jianhua SUN Xueshun SHEN Yunji ZHANG Shuguang WANG Wei HAN Kun ZHAO Lei ZHU Yongyun HU Huiwen XUE Yaping MA Lijuan ZHANG Ji NIE Ruilin ZHOU Sa LI Hongjun LIU Yuning ZHU 2019Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,12:7
2Real-time flood forecasting of Huai River with flood diversion and retarding areas显示文摘A combination of the rainfall-runoff module of the Xin’anjiang model, the Muskingum routing method, the water stage simulating hydrologic method, the diffusion wave nonlinear water stage method, and the real-time error correction method is applied to the real-time flood forecasting and regulation of the Huai River with flood diversion and retarding areas. The Xin’anjiang model is used to forecast the flood discharge hydrograph of the upstream and tributary. The flood routing of the main channel and flood diversion areas is based on the Muskingum method. The water stage of the downstream boundary condition is calculated with the water stage simulating hydrologic method and the water stages of each cross section are calculated from downstream to upstream with the diffusion wave nonlinear water stage method. The input flood discharge hydrograph from the main channel to the flood diversion area is estimated with the fixed split ratio of the main channel discharge. The flood flow inside the flood retarding area is calculated as a reservoir with the water balance method. The faded-memory forgetting factor least square of error series is used as the real-time error correction method for forecasting discharge and water stage. As an example, the combined models were applied to flood forecasting and regulation of the upper reaches of the Huai River above Lutaizi during the 2007 flood season. 4Nitrogen removal from coal gasification wastewater by activated carbon technologies combined with short-cut nitrogen removal process显示文摘A system combining granular activated carbon and powdered activated carbon technologies along with shortcut biological nitrogen removal(GAC-PACT-SBNR) was developed to enhance total nitrogen(TN) removal for anaerobically treated coal gasification wastewater with less need for external carbon resources. The TN removal efficiency in SBNR was significantly improved by introducing the effluent from the GAC process into SBNR during the anoxic stage, with removal percentage increasing from 43.8%–49.6% to 68.8%–75.8%. However, the TN removal rate decreased with the progressive deterioration of GAC adsorption. After adding activated sludge to the GAC compartment, the granular carbon had a longer service-life and the demand for external carbon resources became lower. Eventually, the TN removal rate in SBNR was almost constant at approx. 43.3%, as compared to approx. 20.0% before seeding with sludge. In addition,the production of some alkalinity during the denitrification resulted in a net savings in alkalinity requirements for the nitrification reaction and refractory chemical oxygen demand(COD)degradation by autotrophic bacteria in SBNR under oxic conditions. PACT showed excellent resilience to increasing organic loadings. The microbial community analysis revealed that the PACT had a greater variety of bacterial taxons and the dominant species associated with the three compartments were in good agreement with the removal of typical pollutants. 5Elemental composition and risk assessment of heavy metals in the PM10 fractions of road dust and roadside soil显示文摘A total of 64 dust samples were analyzed to determine the size distribution and elemental composition of the PM10 fraction, including42 road dust(RD), 12 roadside soil(RSD), and 10 park road dust(PRD) samples. The mass of dust smaller than 20μm was dominated by particles sized 2.5-16 μm, which accounted for 85%, 88%, and 87% of the RD, PRD, and RSD, respectively. Additionally, crustal elements accounted for 30.14%, 36.35%, and 37.14% of the PMio fractions of the RD, RSD, and PRD, respectively. The most abundant trace elements in RD, RSD, and PRD were Zn, Mn, and Cu (range, 277 to 874 mg/kg). Moreover, the /geo values revealed all dusts were contaminated with Pb, Zn, Cu, Sb, Sn, and Cd. Health risk assessment showed that Mn, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, Sb, and Pb in the PM10 fraction of three types of dusts posed non-cancer risks to children but posed no non-cancer risk to adults. 6Inhibiting effect of melittin on pathogens of crops显示文摘The spectrum of antimicrobial effects of melittin were investigated on 19 pathogens by using a cylin-der-plate method with serial dilutions. Bacteriostatic efficiency and possible mechanistic effects were monitored via growth curves. The mechanism of inhibition was further analyzed by SDS-PAGE, flow cytometry and electron microscopy. Melittin had a wide inhibition spectrum and killed pathogens ef-fectively, and bacteriostatic action was influenced by factors such as pH and temperature. We eluci-dated three inhibitory mechanisms: melittin integrated with the cell membrane causing cell bursting and cytoplasm release, inhibited the synthesis of proteins and caused the cytoplasm to condense, and delayed pathogens in phase I (or phase G1) so that they could not complete the cell cycle. 7Improvement Effect of Bioaugmentation with Phenol Degrading Bacteria on Lurgi Coal Gasification Wastewater Treatment显示文摘The improvement effect of bioaugmentation with phenol degrading bacteria( PDB) on pollutants removal and chemicals consumption was investigated in a full-scale Lurgi coal gasification wastewater( LCGW)treatment plant. Bioaugmentation with PDB applied in biological contact oxidation tank( BCOT) was carried out in summer to prevent the limitation of low temperature on the bacteria activity. After augmentation,the removal of COD and total phenol(TPh) was significantly enhanced,with efficiencies from 78.5% and 80% to 82.3% and 86.6% in BCOT,respectively. The improvement could also be detected in further processes,including anoxic-oxic,coagulation sedimentation and biological aerated filter,with COD and TPh removal efficiencies increment from 70.1%,24. 7% and 53. 4% to 73. 9%,29. 1% and 55. 9%,from 67. 1%,20% and 25% to 72.5%,25% and 32%, respectively. In addition, chemicals used for denitrification and coagulation sedimentation showed considerable reduction after bioaugmentation,with methanol,coagulant,coagulant aid and bleaching dosage from 100. 0,100. 0,80. 0 and 60. 0 mg/L to 85. 0,70. 6,57. 8 and 45.7 mg/L,respectively. 8Rapid hydrocarbon accumulation mechanism in later period in Kelasu thrust belt in Kuqa depression显示文摘Based on the analyses of generation, migration and accumulation of oil and gas in the structures of Kela 1, Kela 2 and Kela 3 in Kasangtuokai anticlinal belt using a series of geological and geochemical evidence, this paper proposes that the rapid rate of hydrocarbon generation, main drain path for over-pressured fluid flow and converging conduit system are indispensable conditions for the rapid, late-stage gas accumulation in the Kelasu thrust belt in the Kuqa depression. Due to structural over-lapping and the resultant rapid burial, the maturity of the source rocks had been increased rapidly from 1.3 to 2.5% Ro within 2.3 Ma, with an average rate of Ro increase up to 0.539% Ro/Ma. The rapid matura-tion of the source rocks had provided sufficient gases for late-stage gas accumulation. The kelasu structural belt has a variety of faults, but only the fault that related with fault propagation fold and cut through the gypsiferous mudstone cap could act as the main path for overpressured fluid release and then for fast gas accumulation in low fluid potential area. All the evidence from surface structure map, seismic profile explanation, authigenic kaolinite and reservoir property demonstrates that the main drain path related with faults for overpressured fluid and the converging conduit system are the key point for the formation of the giant Kela 2 gas field. 9CT radiomics can help screen the coronavirus disease2019(COVID-19): a preliminary study显示文摘The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) is raging across the world.The radiomics,which explores huge amounts of features from medical image for disease diagnosis,may help the screen of the COVID-19.In this study,we aim to develop a radiomic signature to screen COVID-19 from CT images.We retrospectively collect 75 pneumonia patients from Beijing Youan Hospital,including 46 patients with COVID-19 and 29 other types of pneumonias.These patients are divided into training set(n = 50) and test set(n = 25) at random.We segment the lung lesions from the CT images,and extract 77 radiomic features from the lesions.Then unsupervised consensus clustering and multiple cross-validation are utilized to select the key features that are associated with the COVID-19.In the experiments,while twenty-three radiomic features are found to be highly associated with COVID-19,four key features are screened and used as the inputs of support vector machine to build the radiomic signature.We use area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC) and calibration curve to assess the performance of our model.It yields AUCs of 0.862 and 0.826 in the training set and the test set respectively.We also perform the stratified analysis and find that its predictive ability is not affected by gender,age,chronic disease and degree of severity.In conclusion,we investigate the value of radiomics in screening COVID-19,and the experimental results suggest the radiomic signature could be a potential tool for diagnosis of COVID-19.Mengjie FANG Bingxi HE Li LI Di DONG Xin YANG Cong LI Lingwei MENG Lianzhen ZHONG Hailin LI Hongjun LI Jie TIAN 2020Science China(Information Sciences)2020,63,7:2

12Ultrastructural observation on sterilization of melittin显示文摘The effects of melittin on growth and bacteriostasis of four pathogens were extensively investigated using scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The results indicated that the melittin had a marked bacteriostatic effect on the four pathogenic bacteria.Among these,E.cacotowora was influenced most powerfully and quickly,the yeast and F.fulva were the second,and the S.aureus was inhibited by a low concentration but was killed by a high concentration.It was observed in the experiments that melittin killed pathogenic bacteria in three ways.One was by pore formation.After integrating melittin into the plasma membrane,a vacuole was formed then penetrated,resulting in bacterial content leakage.The vacuole also experienced plasmolysis and the growing cavity destroyed the membrane.A third effect was the formation of vacuoles in the cells which induced the pycnosis of the cytoplasm resulting in a cell death.The mechanism of melittin bacteriostasis was the result of integrating melittin with phospholipod double layers of the plasmalemma and the endomembranes.WANG GuanLin NA Jie PAN LingZi XING Zhuo FANG HongJun 2011Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,2:1

15Performance of the Full-scale Loop Hybrid Reactor Treating Coal Gasification Wastewater under Different Recirculation Modes显示文摘This paper aims to investigate the simultaneous removal efficiencies of both COD and nitrogen in a single reactor treating coal gasification wastewater( CGW). A novel loop hybrid reactor was developed and operated under different recirculation modes in order to achieve simultaneous removal of refractory compounds and total nitrogen( TN) in a full-scale CGW treatment plant. Mid-ditch recirculation was superior to other operational modes in terms of the NH3-N and TN removal,resulting in a TN removal efficiency of 52. 3%.Although the system achieved equal COD removal rates under different recirculation modes,hydrophobic acid( HPO-A) fraction of effluent dissolved organic matter( DOMef) in mid-ditch recirculation mode accounted for35.7%,compared to the proportions of 59. 2%,45. 3% and 39. 4% for the other modes. The ultraviolet absorbance to dissolved organic carbon ratio test revealed that effluent under mid-ditch recirculation mode contained more non-aromatic hydrophilic components. 17A Pilot-scale Study on Coal Gasification Wastewater Reclamation Using Pretreatment Alternatives Combined with Ultrafiltration and Reverse Osmosis显示文摘Aims to investigate the performance of the pilot-scale reclamation plant for coal gasification wastewater( CGW) using ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis with appropriate pretreatment alternatives,different pre-treatment alternatives- coagulation,adsorption,and ozonation methods were employed to treat the secondary effluent of coal gasification wastewater( SECGW) in a pilot-scale pressurized membrane system. The performance was compared to choose the most suitable pre-treatment alternative for the SECGW reclamation.Ozone reaction achieved highest COD removal efficiency( 79.6%- 91.0%),resulting in the stable normalized parameters of the subsequent ultrafiltration and reverse osmoses. In contrast,the coagulation and adsorption processes achieved only 32. 8%- 45. 7% and 53. 1%- 64. 6% decreases in COD,respectively. The residual organic pollutants in the reverse osmosis feed water led to an increase in normalized pressure drop and a decrease in normalized permeability( or membrane transference coefficient). The hydrophobic fraction was the main constituent( approx. 70% of DOC) in pretreated SECGW, and the hydrophobic-neutral fraction contributed mostly to the UV absorbance( 53%). Fluorescence excitation emission matrices revealed that ozonation removed most of the hydrophobic and aromatic proteins such as tyrosine and tryptophan which dominated in raw wastewater. The recalcitrant compounds such as phenolic compounds, heterocyclic compounds,especially long-chain hydrocarbons,which were easily attached to the membrane surface and contributed to organic fouling,could be oxidized and mineralized by ozone. 20Ionic liquids based on S-alkylthiolanium cations and TFSI anion as potential electrolytes显示文摘New ionic liquids based on S-alkylthiolanium cations with TFSI anions were synthesized and charac-terized.The physical and electrochemical properties,including melting point,thermal stability,solubility,viscosity,conductivity and electrochemical window,were reported.Relation between these properties and the structure of the cations was discussed.In this series,T4TFSI and T5TFSI have melting points below -60℃,and their conductivities are 2.10 mS/cm and 1.46 mS/cm;their electrochemical windows are 4.1 V and 4.5 V at room temperature.These cyclic alkylthiolanium-based ionic liquids are promising as novel electrolytes in various electrochemical devices,especially under low temperature condition.ZHANG HuanQi YANG Li FANG ShaoHua PENG ChengXin LUO HongJun 2009Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,8:1
