1The Sunway TaihuLight supercomputer: system and applications显示文摘The Sunway Taihu Light supercomputer is the world's first system with a peak performance greater than 100 PFlops. In this paper, we provide a detailed introduction to the Taihu Light system. In contrast with other existing heterogeneous supercomputers, which include both CPU processors and PCIe-connected many-core accelerators(NVIDIA GPU or Intel Xeon Phi), the computing power of Taihu Light is provided by a homegrown many-core SW26010 CPU that includes both the management processing elements(MPEs)and computing processing elements(CPEs) in one chip. With 260 processing elements in one CPU, a single SW26010 provides a peak performance of over three TFlops. To alleviate the memory bandwidth bottleneck in most applications, each CPE comes with a scratch pad memory, which serves as a user-controlled cache. To support the parallelization of programs on the new many-core architecture, in addition to the basic C/C++and Fortran compilers, the system provides a customized Sunway Open ACC tool that supports the Open ACC2.0 syntax. 2Design and fabrication of broadband ultralow reflectivity black Si surfaces by laser micro/nanoprocessing显示文摘Light collection efficiency is an important factor that affects the performance of many optical and optoelectronic devices.In these devices,the high reflectivity of interfaces can hinder efficient light collection.To minimize unwanted reflection,anti-reflection surfaces can be fabricated by micro/nanopatterning.In this paper,we investigate the fabrication of broadband anti-reflection Si surfaces by laser micro/nanoprocessing.Laser direct writing is applied to create microstructures on Si surfaces that reduce light reflection by light trapping.In addition,laser interference lithography and metal assisted chemical etching are adopted to fabricate the Si nanowire arrays.The anti-reflection performance is greatly improved by the high aspect ratio subwavelength structures,which create gradients of refractive index from the ambient air to the substrate.Furthermore,by decoration of the Si nanowires with metallic nanoparticles,surface plasmon resonance can be used to further control the broadband reflections,reducing the reflection to below 1.0%across from 300 to 1200 nm.An average reflection of 0.8%is achieved.Jing Yang Fangfang Luo Tsung Sheng Kao Xiong Li Ghim Wei Ho Jinghua Teng Xiangang Luo Minghui Hong 2014Light(Science & Applications)2014,3,1:17
3Phytophthora sojae Effector PsAvh240 Inhibits Host Aspartic Protease Secretion to Promote Infection显示文摘Plants secrete defense molecules into the extracellular space (the apoplast) to combat attacking microbes. However, the mechanisms by which successful pathogens subvert plant apoplastic immunity remain poorly understood. In this study, we show that PsAvh240, a membrane-localized effector of the soybean pathogen Phytophthora sojae, promotes P. sojae infection in soybean hairy roots. We found that PsAvh240 interacts with the soybean-resistant aspartic protease GmAP1 in planta and suppresses the secretion of GmAP1 into the apoplast. By solving its crystal structure we revealed that PsAvh240 contain six a helices and two WY motifs. The first two a helices of PsAvh240 are responsible for its plasma membrane-localization and are required for PsAvh240's interaction with GmAP1. The second WY motifs of two PsAvh240 molecules form a handshake arrangement resulting in a handshake-like dimer. This dimerization is required for the effector's repression of GmAP1 secretion. 5Preparation,characterization and photocatalytic performance of Mo-doped ZnO photocatalysts显示文摘A series of Mo-doped ZnO photocatalysts with different Mo-dopant concentrations have been prepared by a grinding-calcination method.The structure of these photocatalysts was characterized by a variety of methods,including N 2 physical adsorption,X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR) spectroscopy,photoluminescence(PL) emission spectroscopy,and UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy(DRS).It was found that Mo 6+ could enter into the crystal lattice of ZnO due to the radius of Mo 6+(0.065 nm) being smaller than that of Zn 2+(0.083 nm).XRD results indicated that Mo 6+ suppressed the growth of ZnO crystals.The FT-IR spectroscopy results showed that the ZnO with 2 wt.% Mo-doping has a higher level of surface hydroxyl groups than pure ZnO.PL spectroscopy indicated that ZnO with 2 wt.% Mo-doping also exhibited the largest reduction in the intensity of the emission peak at 390 nm caused by the recombination of photogenerated hole-electron pairs.The activities of the Mo-doped ZnO photocatalysts were investigated in the photocatalytic degradation of acid orange II under UV light(λ = 365 nm) irradiation.It was found that ZnO with 2 wt.% Mo-doping showed much higher photocatalytic activity and stability than pure ZnO.The high photocatalytic performance of the Mo-doped ZnO can be attributed to a great improvement in the surface properties of ZnO,higher crystallinity and lower recombination rate of photogenerated hole-electron(e-/h+) pairs.Moreover,the undoped Mo species may exist in the form of MoO3 and form MoO3 /ZnO heterojunctions which further favors the separation of e-/h+ pairs.YU ChangLin YANG Kai SHU Qing YU Jimmy C CAO FangFang LI Xin ZHOU XiaoChun 2012Science China Chemistry2012,55,9:8
6Circulating tumor cells:biology and clinical significance显示文摘Circulating tumor cells(CTCs)are tumor cells that have sloughed off the primary tumor and extravasate into and circulate in the blood.Understanding of the metastatic cascade of CTCs has tremendous potential for the identification of targets against cancer metastasis.Detecting these very rare CTCs among the massive blood cells is challenging.However,emerging technologies for CTCs detection have profoundly contributed to deepening investigation into the biology of CTCs and have facilitated their clinical application.Current technologies for the detection of CTCs are summarized herein,together with their advantages and disadvantages.The detection of CTCs is usually dependent on molecular markers,with the epithelial cell adhesion molecule being the most widely used,although molecular markers vary between different types of cancer.Properties associated with epithelial-tomesenchymal transition and stemness have been identified in CTCs,indicating their increased metastatic capacity.Only a small proportion of CTCs can survive and eventually initiate metastases,suggesting that an interaction and modulation between CTCs and the hostile blood microenvironment is essential for CTC metastasis.Single-cell sequencing of CTCs has been extensively investigated,and has enabled researchers to reveal the genome and transcriptome of CTCs.Herein,we also review the clinical applications of CTCs,especially for monitoring response to cancer treatment and in evaluating prognosis.Hence,CTCs have and will continue to contribute to providing significant insights into metastatic processes and will open new avenues for useful clinical applications.Danfeng Lin Lesang Shen Meng Luo Kun Zhang Jinfan Li Qi Yang Fangfang Zhu Dan Zhou Shu Zheng Yiding Chen Jiaojiao Zhou 2021Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,12:8
7Genome-wide identification of OSCA gene family and their potential function in the regulation of dehydration and salt stress in Gossypium hirsutum显示文摘Background:Cotton(Gossypium hirsutum) provides the largest natural fiber for the textile manufacturing industries,but its production is on the decline due to the effects of salinity.Soil salt-alkalization leads to damage in cotton growth and a decrease in yields.Hyperosmolality-gated calcium-permeable channels(OSCA) have been found to be involved in the detection of extracellular changes which trigger an increase in cytosolic free calcium concentration.Hyperosmolality-induced calcium ion increases have been widely speculated to be playing a role in osmosensing in plants.However,the molecular nature of the corresponding calcium ion channels remains unclearly.In this research work,we describe the OSCA genes and their putative function in osmosensing in plants by carrying out genomewide identification,characterization and functional analysis of the significantly up-regulated OSCA gene,GhOSCA1.1 through reverse genetics.Result:A total of 35,21 and 22 OSCA genes were identified in G.hirsutum,G.arboreum,and G.raimondii genomes,respectively,and were classified into four different clades according to their gene structure and phylogenetic relationship.Gene and protein structure analysis indicated that 35 GhOSCA genes contained a conserved RSN17 TM(PF02714) domain.Moreover,the cis-regulatory element analysis indicated that the OSCA genes were involved in response to abiotic stress.Furthermore,the knockdown of one of the highly up-regulated genes,GhOSCA1.1 showed that the virus-induced gene silenced(VIGS) plants were highly sensitive to dehydration and salinity stresses compared with the none VIGS plants as evident with higher concentration levels of oxidant enzymes compared with the antioxidant enzymes on the leaves of the stressed plants.Conclusion:This study provides the first systematic analysis of the OSCA gene family and will be important for understanding the putative functions of the proteins encoded by the OSCA genes in cotton.These results provide a new insight of defense responses in general and lay the foundation for further investigation of the molecular role played by the OSCA genes,thereby providing suitable approaches to improve crop performance under salinity and drought stress conditions.YANG Xiu XU Yanchao YANG Fangfang MAGWANGA Richard Odongo CAI Xiaoyan WANG Xingxing WANG Yuhong HOU Yuqing WANG Kunbo LIU Fang ZHOU Zhongli 2019Journal of Cotton Research2019,2,2:7
8Salidroside Protects Against 6-Hydroxydopamine-Induced Cytotoxicity by Attenuating ER Stress显示文摘Parkinson's disease(PD) is a neurodegenerative disease characterized by a persistent decline of dopaminergic(DA) neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta. Despite its frequency, effective therapeutic strategies that halt the neurodegenerative processes are lacking, reinforcing the need to better understand the molecular drivers of this disease. Importantly, increasing evidence suggests that the endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress-induced unfolded protein response is likely involved in DA neuronal death. Salidroside, a major compound isolated from Rhodiola rosea L., possesses potent antioxidative stress properties and protects against DA neuronal death. However, the underlying mechanisms are not well understood. In the present study, we demonstrate that salidroside prevents 6-hydroxydopamine(6-OHDA)-induced cytotoxicity by attenuating ER stress. Furthermore, treatment of a DA neuronal cell line(SN4741) and primary cortical neurons with salidroside significantly reduced neurotoxin-induced increases in cytoplasmic reactive oxygen species and calcium, both of which cause ER stress, and cleaved caspase-12, which is responsible for ER stress-induced cell death. Together, these results suggest that salidroside protects SN4741 cells and primary cortical neurons from 6-OHDA-induced neurotoxicity by attenuating ER stress. 9Interval mapping for red/green skin color in Asian pears using a modified QTL-seq method显示文摘Pears with red skin are attractive to consumers and provide additional health benefits.Identification of the gene(s)responsible for skin coloration can benefit cultivar selection and breeding.The use of QTL-seq,a bulked segregant analysis method,can be problematic when heterozygous parents are involved.The present study modified the QTL-seq method by introducing a|Δ(SNP-index)|parameter to improve the accuracy of mapping the red skin trait in a group of highly heterozygous Asian pears.The analyses were based on mixed DNA pools composed of 28 red-skinned and 27 green-skinned pear lines derived from a cross between the‘Mantianhong’and‘Hongxiangsu’red-skinned cultivars.The‘Dangshansuli’cultivar genome was used as reference for sequence alignment.An average single-nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)index was calculated using a sliding window approach(200-kb windows,20-kb increments).Nine scaffolds within the candidate QTL interval were in the fifth linkage group from 111.9 to 177.1 cM.There was a significant linkage between the insertions/deletions and simple sequence repeat markers designed from the candidate intervals and the red/green skin(R/G)locus,which was in a 582.5-kb candidate interval that contained 81 predicted protein-coding gene models and was composed of two subintervals at the bottom of the fifth chromosome.The ZFRI 130-16,In2130-12 and In2130-16 markers located near the R/G locus could potentially be used to identify the red skin trait in Asian pear populations.This study provides new insights into the genetics controlling the red skin phenotype in this fruit.Huabai Xue Ting Shi Fangfang Wang Huangkai Zhou Jian Yang Long Wang Suke Wang Yanli Su Zhen Zhang Yushan Qiao Xiugen Li 2017Horticulture Research2017,4,1:5

15Distribution and controlling factors of phytoplankton assemblages associated with mariculture in an eutrophic enclosed bay in the East China Sea显示文摘The distribution of phytoplankton and its correlation with environmental factors were studied monthly during August 2012 to July 2013 in the Yantian Bay. A total of 147 taxa of phytoplankton were identified, and the average abundance was in the range of 0.57×10~4 to 7.73×10~4 cell/L. A total of 19 species dominated the phytoplankton assemblages, and several species that are widely reported to be responsible for microalgae blooms were the absolutely dominant species, such as Skeletonema costatum, Navicula sp., Thalassionema nitzschioides,Pleurosigma sp., and Licmophora abbreviata. The monthly variabilities in phytoplankton abundance could be explained by water temperature, dissolved oxygen, salinity, dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN), and suspended solids. The results of a redundancy analysis showed that p H and nutrients, including DIN and silicate(SiO_4), were the most important environmental factors controlling phytoplankton assemblages in specific months. It was found that nutrients and pH levels that were mainly influenced by mariculture played a vital role in influencing the variation of phytoplankton assemblages in the Yantian Bay. 16Health-related quality of life among rural residents aged 45-69 years in Hua County, Henan Province, China: Results of ESECC Trial for esophageal cancer screening with endoscopy显示文摘Objective: There have been few population-based studies evaluating health related quality of life(HRQOL) in rural populations in China, and this study aimed to assess the current status of and risk factors for HRQOL in a general rural population in high risk region of esophageal cancer in China.Methods: From November 2015 to September 2016, 12,085 permanent residents aged 45–69 years from 257 villages in the Endoscopic Screening for Esophageal Cancer in China(ESECC) trial(Clinical Trials.gov:NCT01688908) randomly selected from Hua County, Henan Province, China were interviewed. The EQ-5 D-3 L,a generic measure of HRQOL, and a questionnaire were used to assess their HRQOL and potential risk factors.Results: Among all the participants, 30.62% of the participants reported problems in at least one EQ-5 D dimension. Pain/discomfort(25.52%) was the most frequently reported problem followed by anxiety/depression(7.97%), mobility(5.82%), usual activities(2.61%) and self-care(1%). These rural residents had a mean EQ-5 D index score of 0.948, and lower EQ-5 D index scores were associated with older age, female gender, lower levels of household annual per capita income, living alone, using shallow wells as main source of drinking water, exposure to family members smoking, testiness, unhealthy dietary habits, overweight or obesity, upper gastrointestinal cancer related symptoms and chronic diseases.Conclusions: Rural residents in China have a relatively low quality of life. Health promotion programs in this population should focus on the elderly, especially elderly women and the elderly living alone. Improving basic living circumstances and primary medical care services should be priorities. 17Oral microbiome and risk of malignant esophageal lesions in a high-risk area of China:A nested case-control study显示文摘Objective:We aimed to prospectively evaluate the association of oral microbiome with malignant esophageal lesions and its predictive potential as a biomarker of risk.Methods:We conducted a case-control study nested within a population-based cohort with up to 8 visits of oral swab collection for each subject over an 11-year period in a high-risk area for esophageal cancer in China.The oral microbiome was evaluated with 16 S ribosomal RNA(rRNA)gene sequencing in 428 pre-diagnostic oral specimens from 84 cases with esophageal lesions of severe squamous dysplasia and above(SDA)and 168 matched healthy controls.DESeq analysis was performed to identify taxa of differential abundance.Differential oral species together with subject characteristics were evaluated for their potential in predicting SDA risk by constructing conditional logistic regression models.Results:A total of 125 taxa including 37 named species showed significantly different abundance between SDA cases and controls(all P<0.05&false discovery rate-adjusted Q<0.10).A multivariate logistic model including 11 SDA lesion-related species and family history of esophageal cancer provided an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)of 0.89(95%CI,0.84-0.93).Cross-validation and sensitivity analysis,excluding cases diagnosed within 1 year of collection of the baseline specimen and their matched controls,or restriction to screenendoscopic-detected or clinically diagnosed case-control triads,or using only bacterial data measured at the baseline,yielded AUCs>0.84.Conclusions:The oral microbiome may play an etiological and predictive role in esophageal cancer,and it holds promise as a non-invasive early warning biomarker for risk stratification for esophageal cancer screening programs.Fangfang Liu Mengfei Liu Ying Liu Chuanhai Guo Yunlai Zhou Fenglei Li Ruiping Xu Zhen Liu Qiuju Deng Xiang Li Chaoting Zhang Yaqi Pan Tao Ning Xiao Dong Zhe Hu Huanyu Bao Hong Cai Isabel Dos Santos Silva Zhonghu He Yang Ke 2020Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2020,32,6:3
18Development and validation of a questionnaire-based risk scoring system to identify individuals at high risk for gastric cancer in Chinese populations显示文摘Objective:This study aimed to develop and validate a risk scoring system to identify high-risk individuals carrying malignant lesions in stomach for tailored gastric cancer screening.Methods:A gastric cancer risk scoring system(GC-RSS)was developed based on questionnaire-based predictors for gastric cancer derived from systematic literature review.To assess the capability of this system for discrimination,risk scores for 8,214 and 7,235 outpatient subjects accepting endoscopic examination in two endoscopy centers,and 32,630 participants in a community-based cohort in China were calculated to plot receiver operating characteristic curves and generate area under the curve(AUC).To evaluate the performance of GC-RSS,the screening proportion,sensitivity and detection rate ratio compared to universal screening were used under different risk score cutoff values.Results:GC-RSS comprised nine predictors including advanced age,male gender,low body mass index(<18.5 kg/m^(2)),family history of gastric cancer,cigarette smoking,consumption of alcohol,preference for salty food,irregularity of meals and consumption of preserved food.This tool performed well in determining the risk of malignant gastric lesions with AUCs of 0.763,0.706 and 0.696 in three validation sets.When subjects with risk scores≥5 were evaluated with endoscopy,nearly 50%of these endoscopies could be saved with a detection rate of over 1.5 times achieved.When the cutoff was set at 8,only about 10%of subjects with the highest risk would be offered endoscopy,and detection rates for gastric cancer could be increased 2-4 fold compared to universal screening.Conclusions:An effective questionnaire-based GC-RSS was developed and validated.This tool may play an important role in establishing a tailored screening strategy for gastric cancer in China.Ren Zhou Hongchen Zheng Mengfei Liu Zhen Liu Chuanhai Guo Hongrui Tian Fangfang Liu Ying Liu Yaqi Pan Huanyu Chen Zhe Hu Hong Cai Zhonghu He Yang Ke 2021Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2021,33,6:3

20Genotypic variation in spatiotemporal distribution of canopy light interception in relation to yield formation in cotton显示文摘Background: Within-canopy interception of photosynthetically active radiation(PAR) impacts yield and other agronomic traits in cotton(Gossypium hirsutum L.). Field experiments were conducted to investigate the influence of 6 cotton varieties(they belong to 3 different plant types) on yield, yield distribution, light interception(LI), LI distribution and the relationship between yield formation and LI in Anyang, Henan, in 2014 and 2015.Result: The results showed that cotton cultivars with long branches(loose-type) intercepted more LI than did cultivars with short branches(compact-type), due to increased LI in the middle and upper canopy. Although loose-type varieties had greater LI, they did not yield significantly higher than compact-type varieties, due to decreased harvest index. Therefore, improving the harvest index by adjusting the source-to-sink relationship may further increase cotton yield for loose-type cotton. In addition, there was a positive relationship between reproductive organ biomass accumulation and canopy-accumulated LI, indicating that enhancing LI is important for yield improvement for each cultivar.
