1Comparison of the toxicity of silver nanoparticles and silver ions on the growth of terrestrial plant model Arabidopsis thaliana显示文摘Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are one of the most widely used nanomaterials, but the mechanism of AgNP toxicity in terrestrial plants is still unclear. We compared the toxic effects of AgNPs and Ag+ on Arabidopsis thaliana at the physiological, ultrastructural and molecular levels. AgNPs did not affect seed germination; however, they showed stronger inhibitory effect on root elongation than Ag+ . The results of transmission electron microscopy and metal content analysis showed that AgNPs could be accumulated in leaves. These absorbed AgNPs disrupted the thylakoid membrane structure and decreased chlorophyll content, which can inhibit plant growth. By comparison, a small amount of Ag+ was absorbed by seedlings, and it did not pronouncedly affect chloroplast structure and other metal ion absorption as AgNPs did. Compared with Ag+ , AgNPs could alter the transcription of antioxidant and aquaporin genes, indicating that AgNPs changed the balance between the oxidant and antioxidant systems, and also affected the homeostasis of water and other small molecules within the plant body. 2Land-surface processes and summer-cloud-precipitation characteristics in the Tibetan Plateau and their effects on downstream weather:a review and perspective显示文摘Correct understanding of the land-surface processes and cloud-precipitation processes in the Tibetan Plateau(TP)is an important prerequisite for the study and forecast of the downstream activities of weather systems and one of the key points for understanding the global atmospheric movement.In order to show the achievements that have been made,this paper reviews the progress on the observations for the atmospheric boundary layer,land-surface heat fluxes,cloud-precipitation distributions and vertical structures by using ground-and space-based multiplatform,multisensor instruments and the effect of the cloud system in the TP on the downstream weather.The results show that the form drag related to the topography,land-atmosphere momentum and scalar fluxes is an important part of the parameterization process.The sensible heat flux decreased especially in the central and northern TP caused by the decrease in wind speeds and the differences in the ground-air temperatures.Observations show that the cloud and precipitation over the TP have a strong diurnal variation.Studies also show the compressed-air column in the troposphere by the higher-altitude terrain of the TP makes particles inside clouds vary at a shorter distance in the vertical direction than those in the non-plateau area so that precipitation intensity over the TP is usually small with short duration,and the vertical structure of the convective precipitation over the TP is obviously different from that in other regions.In addition,the influence of the TP on severe weather downstream is preliminarily understood from the mechanism.It is necessary to use model simulations and observation techniques to reveal the difference between cloud precipitation in the TP and non-plateau areas in order to understand the cloud microphysical parameters over the TP and the processes of the land boundary layer affecting cloud,precipitation and weather in the downstream regions.Yunfei Fu Yaoming Ma Lei Zhong Yuanjian Yang Xueliang Guo Chenghai Wang Xiaofeng Xu Kun Yang Xiangde Xu Liping Liu Guangzhou Fan Yueqing Li Donghai Wang 2020National Science Review2020,7,3:10
3Effects of Catalyst and Additive Containing Li, Na, or Ca on Reduction of Iron Oxide/Carbon Composite Pellets显示文摘The catalyst containing 0.69% (mass fraction) of Li, Na+, or Ca2+ were synthesized, and the catalytic effect on the reduction of iron oxide/carbon composite pellets were investigated by comparing with that of additive at 850 ℃. The effect of the catalyst was greater than that of the additive, it can be considered that catalyst promoted the formation of iron nucleus early on reduction processes of iron oxide/carbon composite pellets. 4A method of correlation analysis for space-based GEO object surveillance显示文摘A method of correlation analysis to determine the correlation between two too-short arcs is presented to monitor geosynchronous earth orbit objects on a space-based surveillance system.The necessary condition for a geosynchronous earth orbit object to be observed by a space-based visible sensor in two successive orbital periods is derived,and the principle for the selection of search fence parameters is proposed.The processing procedure of the correlation analysis for the two too-short arcs as well as two correlation judgment methods is given and the selection of the threshold value for the judgment is analyzed.Finally,a simulation is performed to demonstrate the applicability of the presented methods.Simulation results indicate that a surveillance system can acquire two observation arcs in two successive orbital periods by selecting the suitable search fence parameters,and that the two correlation judgment methods and the selected threshold are valid.The initial orbit of the uncorrelated objects can be determined by two observation arcs,and the accuracy of the initial orbit meets the requirements of re-acquiring the object.TANG Yi WU MeiPing FU XiaoFeng 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,6:5

6Conversion of hepatoma cells to hepatocyte-like cells by defined hepatocyte nuclear factors显示文摘Normal cells become cancer cells after a malignant transformation,but whether cancer cells can be reversed to normal status remains elusive.Here,we report that the combination of hepatocyte nuclear factor IA (HNFIA),HNF4A and forkhead box protein A3 (FOXA3)synergistically reprograms hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)cells to hepatocyte-like cells (reprogrammed hepatocytes, rHeps).Our results show that rHeps lose the malignant phenotypes of cancer cells and retrieve hepatocyte-specific characteristics including hepatocyte-like morphology;global expression pattern of genes and specific biomarkers of hepatocytes;and the unique hepatic functions of albumin (ALB)secretion,glycogen synthesis,low-density lipoprotein (LDL)uptake,urea production, cytochrome P450 enzymes induction and drug metabolism.Intratumoral injection of these three factors efficiently shrank patientderived tumor xenografts and reprogrammed HCC cells in vivo.Most importantly,transplantation of rHeps in the liver of fumarylacetoacetate hydrolase-deficient (Fah^-/-)mice led to the reconstruction of hepatic lobules and the restoration of hepatic function.Mechanistically,exogenous expression of HNF1A,HNF4A and FOXA3 in HCC cells initiated the endogenous expression of numerous hepatocyte nuclear factors,which promoted the conversion of HCC cells to hepatocyte-like cells.Collectively,our results indicate the successful conversion of hepatoma cells to hepatocyte-like cells,not only extending our current knowledge of cell reprogramming but also providing a route towards a novel therapeutic strategy for cancer.Zhuo Cheng Zhiying He Yongchao Cai Cheng Zhang Gongbo Fu Hengyu Li Wen Sun Changcheng Liu Xiuliang Cui Beifang Ning Daimin Xiang Tengfei Zhou Xiaofeng Li Weifen Xie Hongyang Wang Jin Ding 2019Cell Research2019,29,2:3
7A simple model of radial nerve injury in the rhesus monkey to evaluate peripheral nerve repair显示文摘Current research on bone marrow stem cell transplantation and autologous or xenogenic nerve transplantation for peripheral nerve regeneration has mainly focused on the repair of peripheral nerve defects in rodents.In this study,we established a standardized experimental model of radial nerve defects in primates and evaluated the effect of repair on peripheral nerve injury.We repaired 2.5-cm lesions in the radial nerve of rhesus monkeys by transplantation of autografts,acellular allografts,or acellular allografts seeded with autologous bone marrow stem cells.Five months after surgery,regenerated nerve tissue was assessed for function,electrophysiology,and histomorphometry.Postoperative functional recovery was evaluated by the wrist-extension test.Compared with the simple autografts,the acellular allografts and allografts seeded with bone marrow stem cells facilitated remarkable recovery of the wrist-extension functions in the rhesus monkeys.This functional improvement was coupled with radial nerve distal axon growth,a higher percentage of neuron survival,increased nerve fiber density and diameter,increased myelin sheath thickness,and increased nerve conduction velocities and peak amplitudes of compound motor action potentials.Furthermore,the quality of nerve regeneration in the bone marrow stem cells-laden allografts group was comparable to that achieved with autografts.The wrist-extension test is a simple behavioral method for objective quantification of peripheral nerve regeneration.Dong Wang Xijun Huang Guo Fu Liqiang Gu Xiaolin Liu Honggang Wang Jun Hu Jianhua Yi Xiaofeng Niu Qingtang Zhu 2014Neural Regeneration Research2014,9,10:3

10Analysis of the Relationship between the Cloud Water Path and Precipitation Intensity of Mature Typhoons in the Northwest Pacific Ocean显示文摘The relationship between precipitation intensity and cloud water in typhoon systems remains unclear.This study combined time-and space-synchronized precipitation and spectral data obtained by the Precipitation Radar(PR)as well as the Visible and Infrared Scanner(VIRS)onboard the TRMM satellite,to overcome the limitations of precipitation properties and cloud parameters not being synchronized in previous studies.A merged dataset of near-surface rain rate(RR)and corresponding cloud water path(CWP)was established and used to analyze the potential correlation between cloud microphysical properties and precipitation,to deepen our understanding of the evolution of cloud to rain.In addition,25 collocated satellite overpasses of mature typhoon cases in the Northwest Pacific Ocean from 1998 to 2012 were obtained,and the relationships between the CWP and RR of 144515 pixels were analyzed in detail.The results show that the CWP and RR of mature typhoon systems with different precipitation types,precipitation cloud phases,and vertical depths of precipitation can be fitted by a notable sigmoid function,which may be useful for estimating CWP and parameterizing precipitation in models.Furthermore,the relationship was applied and tested with an independent sample to show that RR is a significant indicator of CWP.Shuang LUO Yunfei FU Shengnan ZHOU Xiaofeng WANG Dongyong WANG 2020Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,4:2

13Mitogen activated protein kinase signaling pathways participate in the active principle region of Buyang Huanwu decoction-induced differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells显示文摘Our preliminary studies confirmed that an active principle region of Buyang Huanwu decoction, comprising alkaloid, polysaccharide, aglycon, glucoside and volatile oil, can induce bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell differentiation into neurons. Mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling was identified as one of the key pathways underlying this differentiation process. The present study shows phosphorylated extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase and phosphorylated p38 protein expression was increased after differentiation. Cellular signaling pathway blocking agents, PD98059 and SB203580, inhibited extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase and p38 in mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathways respectively. mRNA and protein expression of the neuronal marker, neuron specific enolase, and neural stem cell marker, nestin, were decreased in bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells after treatment with the active principle region of Buyang Huanwu decoction. 19Value of metabolic parameters in distinguishing primary mediastinal lymphomas from thymic epithelial tumors显示文摘Objective:A high rate of unnecessary thymectomies has been reported.This study aimed to distinguish primary mediastinal lymphomas(PMLs)from thymic epithelial tumors(TETs)by evaluating volumetric and metabolic parameters with l8F-FDG PET/CT.Methods:A total of 136 patients who were pathologically diagnosed with TETs or PMLs were enrolled,and 18F-FDG PET/CT was performed before therapy.Volumetric parameters,including the mean SUV(SUVmean),metabolic tumor volume(MTV),total lesion glycolysis(TLG),and SUVmax,were determined and compared between the 2 subtypes.The diagnostic performance of these parameters was evaluated with receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve analysis.Results:All parameters significantly differed between patients with PMLs and TETs.Patients with lymphomas were younger and had higher SUVmean,SUVmax,TLG,and MTV values than patients with TETs.The MTV and TLG values had similar diagnostic performance.ROC analysis indicated that the areas under the curves of the SUVmean and SUVmax values performed similarly(approximately 0.76)in differentiating patients with PMLs from TETs,and both values were better than the MTV and TLG values.When age was included with the SUVmax in differentiating TETs from PMLs,the AUC was 0.91,and the sensitivity and specificity increased to 80%and 93%,respectively.Conclusions:The SUVmax and volumetric parameters of 18F-FDG PET/CT can be used to distinguish patients with PMLs versus TETs,and thus may aid in preventing unnecessary thymectomies or other invasive operations.Lei Zhu Xiaofeng Li Jian Wang Qiang Fu Jianjing Liu Wenchao Ma Wengui Xu Wei Chen 2020Cancer Biology & Medicine2020,17,2:1
