| 1 | Investigation on microstructural, mechanical and electrochemical properties of aluminum composites reinforced with graphene nanoplatelets显示文摘In present study,the microstructure,mechanical and electrochemical properties of aluminum-graphene nanoplatelets(GNPs) composites were investigated before and after extrusion.The contents of graphene nanoplatelets(GNPs) were varied from 0.25 to 1.0 wt.%in aluminum matrix.The composites were fabricated thorough powder metallurgy method,and the experimental results revealed that Al-0.25%GNPs composite showed better mechanical properties compared with pure Al,Al-0.50%GNPs and Al-0.1.0%GNPs composites.Before extrusion,the Al-0.25%GNPs composite showed ~13.5%improvement in ultimate tensile strength(UTS) and ~50%enhancement in failure strain over monolithic matrix.On the other hand,Al-0.50%GNPs and Al-0.1.0%GNPs composites showed the tensile strength lower than monolithic matrix.No significant change was observed in 0.2%yield strength(YS) of the composites.However,the extruded materials showed different trends.The0.2%YS of composites increased with increase in GNPs filler weight fractions.Surprisingly,UTS of composites with 0.25 and 0.50%GNPs was lower than monolithic matrix.The failure strain of the baseline matrix was enhanced by ~46%with 0.25%graphene nanoplatelets.The superior mechanical properties(in terms of failure strain) of the Al-0.25%GNPs composite maybe attributed to 2-D structure,high surface area and curled nature of graphene.In addition,the corrosion resistance of pure Al and its composites reinforced with 0.5 and 1.0 wt%GNPs was also investigated.It was found that the corrosion rate increased considerably by the presence of GNPs. | Muhammad Rashad Fusheng Pan Zhengwen Yu Muhammad Asif Han Lin Rongjian Pan | 2015 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2015,25,5: | 17 |

| 4 | High temperature formability of graphene nanoplatelets-AZ31 composites fabricated by stir-casting method显示文摘Outstanding mechanical properties of graphene nanoplatelets(GNPs)make them ideal reinforcement for mass production of composites.In this research,the composites were fabricated by stir-casting method.GNPs were added in 1.5 and 3.0 wt.%into Mg–3wt.%Al–1wt.%Zn(AZ31)magnesium alloy.As cast ingots were preheated for one hour and extruded at 350℃ with extrusion ratio of 5.2:1.As extruded AZ31-GNPs composites were micro-structurally characterized with X-ray diffraction,optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy.Vickers microhardness of synthesized materials was investigated both in parallel and perpendicular to extrusion directions.Room temperature mechanical testing revealed that with increasing GNP’s content,tensile fracture strain was remarkably increased without significant compromise in tensile strength.Furthermore,as extruded AZ31-3GNPs composites were subjected to tensile testing at temperatures ranging from 75℃ to 300℃ with initial strain rate of 2×10^(−3)s^(−1) to evaluate high temperature formability of composite.It was found that like CNTs,GNPs also have the potential to sustain tensile strength at high temperatures. | Muhammad Rashad Fusheng Pan Yanglu Liu Xianhua Chen Han Lin Rongjian Pan Muhammad Asif Jia She | 2016 | Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2016,4,4: | 9 |

| 6 | Strengthening effect of Cu-rich phase precipitation in 18Cr9Ni3CuNbN austenitic heat-resisting steel显示文摘The Cu-containing austenitic heat-resistant steel 18Cr9Ni3CuNbN, which is being used as superheater and reheater tube material for modern ultra-super-critical (USC) power plants all over the world, has been investigated at 650 ℃ long time aging till 10 000 h. SEM, TEM and 3DAP (three dimensional atom probe) have been used to follow microstructural changes with mechanical property variations. Experimental results show that Cu-rich phase and MX precipitate in the grains as well as M 23 C 6 precipitates at grain boundaries are the main precipitation strengthening phases in this steel. Among them Cu-rich phase is the most important strengthening phase. Homogeneous distribution of very fine nano-size Cu-rich phase has been formed at very early stage of 650 ℃ aging (less than 1 h). Cu atoms gradually concentrate to Cu-rich particles and the other elements (such as Fe, Cr, Ni etc) diffuse away from Curich particles to γ-matrix with the increasing of aging time at 650 ? C. The growth rate of Cu-rich phase at 650 ℃ long time aging is very slow and the average diameters of Cu-rich phase have been determined by TEM method. Cu-rich phase keeps in about 30 nm till 650 ℃ aging for 10 000 h. It shows that nano-size Cu-rich phase precipitation strengthening can be kept for long time aging at 650 ℃ because of its excellent stability at high temperatures. | 7 | Effects of Fe concentration on microstructure and corrosion of Mg-6Al-1Zn-xFe alloys for fracturing balls applications显示文摘Mg-6A1-1 Zn-xFe (x = 0,1,3,5 and 7 wt%) alloys were prepared by powder metallurgy and followed by hot extrusion. Majority of Fe element exists as insoluble particles in the alloys. The as-extruded alloys showed higher degradable rates but less stable mechanical properties than as-annealed alloys. Corrosion rate of all the alloys increased with increasing Fe concentration, reaching 2.4 mL cm^-2 h^-1.0.2% yield strength of all the alloys was higher than 150 MPa. | 8 | Tunable multiband terahertz metamaterials using a reconfigurable electric split-ring resonator array显示文摘We demonstrate micromachined reconfigurable metamaterials working at multiple frequencies simultaneously in the terahertz range.The proposed metamaterial structures can be structurally reconfigured by employing flexible microelectromechanical system-based cantilevers in the resonators,which are designed to deform out of plane under an external stimulus.The proposed metamaterial structures provide not only multiband resonance frequency operation but also polarization-dependent tunability.Three kinds of metamaterials are investigated as electric split-ring resonator(eSRR)arrays with different positions of the split.By moving the position of the split away from the resonator’s center,the eSRR exhibits anisotropy,with the dipole resonance splitting into two resonances.The dipole–dipole coupling strength can be continuously adjusted,which enables the electromagnetic response to be tailored by adjusting the direct current(DC)voltage between the released cantilevers and the silicon substrate.The observed tunability of the eSRRs is found to be dependent on the polarization of the incident terahertz wave.This polarization-dependent tunability is demonstrated by both experimental measurements and electromagnetic simulations. | Fusheng Ma Yu-Sheng Lin Xinhai Zhang Chengkuo Lee | 2014 | Light(Science & Applications)2014,3,1: | 5 |

| 10 | Effect of minor Sc on the microstructure and mechanical properties of AZ91 Magnesium Alloy显示文摘The as-cast and heat-treated microstructures and mechanical properties of the AZ91 magnesium alloys with and without minor Sc addition were investigated and compared in this paper. The results indicated that adding0.15–0.45 wt% Sc to the as-cast AZ91 alloy not only could modify and refine the Mg_(17)Al_(12) phase but also suppress the formation of the Mg_(17)Al_(12) phase. At the same time, the grains of the Sc-containing as-cast AZ91 alloys were also effectively refined. As a result, the mechanical properties at room temperature(RT) for the Sccontaining as-cast AZ91 alloys were effectively improved. In addition, adding 0.15–0.45 wt%Sc to the AZ91 alloy promoted the formation of the continuous precipitates(CP) during the aging treatment in spite of that the formation of the discontinuous precipitates(DP) was simultaneously suppressed. | 11 | Replanting of broadleaved trees alters internal nutrient cycles of native and exotic pines in subtropical plantations of China显示文摘Background:The replanting of broadleaved trees in pure coniferous plantations is widely implemented,as mixed plantations are generally more stable and functional.However,the effect of interspecific interactions between broadleaved and coniferous trees on internal nutrient cycles of conifers remains unclear.Methods:We selected pure coniferous plantations of a native(Pinus massoniana)and an exotic(P.elliottii)pine species and their corresponding mixed plantations with broadleaved trees(Schima superba)in subtropical China,and measured the nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)contents in the rhizosphere soils,fine roots,twigs,needles and needle litter of pines.We calculated the root capture,needle resorption and translocation of N and P by pines to determine the mobility of nutrients in trees.Results:Although the N and P in the rhizosphere soils increased due to the replanting of broadleaved trees,the N and P contents in the aboveground tissues of the two pine species did not increase in mixed plantations.Mixed planting had a negative effect on the N and P capture of native pine and a positive effect on that of exotic pine.The N and P resorption efficiencies increased in native pine but were unchanged in exotic pine after the replanting of S.superba.Native pine preferentially employed an aboveground nutrient resorption strategy,whereas exotic pine tended to adopt a belowground nutrient capture strategy after replanting.Translocation of N and P in trees was detected,which reflected the trade-offs between root nutrient capture and needle nutrient resorption.Conclusions:The effect of mixed planting varied between the species of native and exotic pines,and the internal nutrient cycles of both pine species might be dominated by interspecific interaction effects on nutrients rather than soil nutrients.Our study highlights the importance of selecting suitable broadleaved species for replanting in coniferous plantations. | Yong Lin Chengkang Xia Gaoyang Wu Fangchao Wang Shengnan Wang Yuanqiu Liu Fusheng Chen | 2022 | Forest Ecosystems2022,9,5: | 2 |
