1Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory Capacity of Ferulic Acid Released from Wheat Bran by Solid-state Fermentation of Aspergillus niger显示文摘Objective A strain of Aspergillus niger(A. niger), capable of releasing bound phenolic acids from wheat bran, was isolated. This strain was identified by gene sequence identification. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity of ferulic acid released from wheat bran by this A. niger strain(FA-WB) were evaluated. Methods Molecular identification techniques based on PCR analysis of specific genomic sequences were conducted; antioxidant ability was examined using oxygen radical absorbance capacity(ORAC), cellular antioxidant activity(CAA) assays, and erythrocyte hemolysis assays. RAW264.7 cells were used as a model to detect anti-inflammatory activity. Results The filamentous fungal isolate was identified to be A. niger. ORAC and CAA assay showed that FA-WB had better antioxidant activity than that of the ferulic acid standard. The erythrocyte hemolysis assay results suggested that FA-WB could attenuate AAPH-induced oxidative stress through inhibition of reactive oxy gen species(ROS) generation. FA-WB could significantly restore the AAPH-induced increase in intracellular antioxidant enzyme activities to normal levels as well as inhibit the intracellular malondialdehyde formation. TNF-?, IL-6, and NO levels indicated that FA-WB can inhibit the inflammation induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS). 4A WRKY transcription factor confers aluminum tolerance via regulation of cell wall modifying genes显示文摘Modification of cell wall properties has been considered as one of the determinants that confer aluminum(Al)tolerance in plants,while how cell wall modifying processes are regulated remains elusive.Here,we present a WRKY transcription factor WRKY47 involved in Al tolerance and root growth.Lack of WRKY47 significantly reduces,while overexpression of it increases Al tolerance.We show that lack of WRKY47 substantially affects subcellular Al distribution in the root,with Al content decreased in apoplast and increased in symplast,which is attributed to the reduced cell wall Al-binding capacity conferred by the decreased content of hemicellulose I in the wrky47-1 mutant.Based on microarray,real time-quantitative polymerase chain reaction and chromatin immunoprecipitation assays,we further show that WRKY47 directly regulates the expression of EXTENSIN-LIKE PROTEIN(ELP)and XYLOGLUCAN ENDOTRANSGLUCOSYLASE-HYDROLASES17(XTH17)responsible for cell wall modification.Increasing the expression of ELP and XTH17 rescued Al tolerance as well as root growth in wrky47-1 mutant.In summary,our results demonstrate that WRKY47 is required for root growth under both normal and Al stress conditions via direct regulation of cell wall modification genes,and that the balance of Al distribution between root apoplast and symplast conferred by WRKY47 is important for Al tolerance.Chun Xiao Li Jing Ying Yan Jiang Yuan Ren Li Sun Chen Xu Gui Xin Li Zhong Jie Ding Shao Jian Zheng 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,8:7
5A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. 6Adsorption-oxidation of hydrogen sulfide on Fe/walnut-shell activated carbon surface modified by NH_3-plasma显示文摘Walnut-shell activated carbon(WSAC) supported ferric oxide was modified by non-thermal plasma(NTP), and the removal efficiency for hydrogen sulfide over Fe/WSAC modified by dielectric barrier discharge(DBD) was significantly promoted. The sample modified for10 min and 6.8 k V output(30 V input voltage) maintained 100% H2 S conversion over a long reaction time of 390 min. The surface properties of adsorbents modified by NTP under different conditions were evaluated by the methods of X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller(BET) analysis and in-situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), to help understand the effect of the NTP treatment. NTP treatment enhanced the adsorption capacity of Fe/WSAC, which could due to the formation of micro-pores with sizes of0.4, 0.5 and 0.75 nm. XPS revealed that chemisorbed oxygen changed into lattice oxygen after NTP treatment, and lattice oxygen is beneficial for H2 S oxidation. From the in-situ FTIR result,transformation of the reaction path on Fe/WSAC was observed after NTP modification. 7Restriction of iron loading into developing seeds by a YABBY transcription factor safeguards successful reproduction in Arabidopsis显示文摘Iron(Fe)storage in plant seeds is not only necessary for seedling establishment following germination but is also a major source of dietary Fe for humans and other animals.Accumulation of Fe in seeds is known to be low during early seed development.However,the underlying mechanism and biological significance remain elusive.Here,we show that reduced expression of Arabidopsis YABBY transcription factor INNER NO OUTER(INO)increases embryonic Fe accumulation,while transgenic overexpression of INO results in the opposite effect.INO is highly expressed during early seed development,and decreased INO expression increases the expression of NATURAL RESISTANCE-ASSOCIATED MACROPHAGE PROTEIN 1(NRAMP1),which encodes a transporter that contributes to seed Fe loading.The relatively high embryonic Fe accumulation conferred by decreased INO expression is rescued by the nramp1 loss-of-function mutation.We further demonstrated that INO represses NRAMP1 expression by binding to NRAMP1-specific promoter region.Interestingly,we found that excessive Fe loading into developing seeds of ino mutants results in greater oxidative damage,leading to increased cell death and seed abortion,a phenotype that can be rescued by the nramp1 mutation.Taken together,these results indicate that INO plays an important role in safeguarding reproduction by reducing Fe loading into developing seeds by repressing NRAMP1 expression.Li Sun Yun Qi Wei Kang Hao Wu Jing Ying Yan Jie Na Xu Yun Rong Wu Gui Xin Li Ji Ming Xu Nicholas P.Harberd Zhong Jie Ding Shao Jian Zheng 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,10:3
8Optical and Radiative Properties of Aerosols during a Severe Haze Episode over the North China Plain in December 2016显示文摘The optical and radiative properties of aerosols during a severe haze episode from 15 to 22 December 2016 over Beijing, Shijiazhuang, and Jiaozuo in the North China Plain were analyzed based on the ground-based and satellite data, meteorological observations, and atmospheric environmental monitoring data. The aerosol optical depth at 500 nm was < 0.30 and increased to > 1.4 as the haze pollution developed. The ?ngstr?m exponent was > 0.80 for most of the study period. The daily single-scattering albedo was > 0.85 over all of the North China Plain on the most polluted days and was > 0.97 on some particular days. The volumes of fine and coarse mode particles during the haze event were approximately 0.05–0.21 and 0.01–0.43 μm3, respectively—that is, larger than those in the time without haze. The daily absorption aerosol optical depth was about 0.01–0.11 in Beijing, 0.01–0.13 in Shijiazhuang, and0.01–0.04 in Jiaozuo, and the average absorption ?ngstr?m exponent varied between 0.6 and 2.0. The aerosol radiative forcing at the bottom of the atmosphere varied from –23 to –227, –34 to –199, and –29 to –191 W m–2 for the whole haze period, while the aerosol radiative forcing at the top of the atmosphere varied from –4 to –98, –10 to –51,and –21 to –143 W m–2 in Beijing, Shijiazhuang, and Jiaozuo, respectively. Satellite observations showed that smoke,polluted dust, and polluted continental components of aerosols may aggravate air pollution during haze episodes. 10Ethylene promotes seed iron storage during Arabidopsis seed maturation via ERF95 transcription factor显示文摘Because Iron(Fe)is an essential element,Fe storage in plant seeds is necessary for seedling establishment following germination.However,the mechanisms controlling seed Fe storage during seed development remain largely unknown.Here we reveal that an ERF95 transcription factor regulates Arabidopsis seed Fe accumulation.We show that expression of ERF95 increases during seed maturation,and that lack of ERF95 reduces seed Fe accumulation,consequently increasing sensitivity to Fe deficiency during seedling establishment.Conversely,overexpression of ERF95 has the opposite effects.We show that lack of ERF95 decreases abundance of FER1 messenger RNA in developing seed,which encodes Fe-sequestering ferritin.Accordingly,a fer1-1 loss-of-function mutation confers reduced seed Fe accumulation,and suppresses ERF95-promoted seed Fe accumulation.In addition,ERF95 binds to specific FER1 promoter GCC-boxes and transactivates FER1 expression.We show that ERF95 expression in maturing seed is dependent on EIN3,the master transcriptional regulator of ethylene signaling.While lack of EIN3 reduces seed Fe content,overexpression of ERF95 rescues Fe accumulation in the seed of ein3 loss-of-function mutant.Finally,we show that ethylene production increases during seed maturation.We conclude that ethylene promotes seed Fe accumulation during seed maturation via an EIN3-ERF95-FER1-dependent signaling pathway.Ying Sun Jia Qi Li Jing Ying Yan Jun Jie Yuan Gui Xin Li Yun Rong Wu Ji Ming Xu Rong Feng Huang Nicholas P.Harberd Zhong Jie Ding Shao Jian Zheng 2020Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2020,62,8:1

17Circumventing chemo-mechanical failure of Sn foil battery anode by grain refinement and elaborate porosity design显示文摘Tin (Sn) metal foil is a promising anode for next-generation high-energy–density lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) due to its high capacity and easy processibility. However, the pristine Sn foil anode suffers nonuniform alloying/dealloying reaction with lithium (Li) and huge volume variation, leading to electrode pulverization and inferior electrochemical performance. Herein, we proposed that reduced grain size and elaborate porosity design of Sn foil can circumvent the nonuniform alloy reaction and buffer the volume change during the lithiation/delithiation cycling. Experimentally, we designed a three-dimensional interconnected porous Sn (3DIP-Sn) foil by a facile chemical alloying/dealloying approach, which showed improved electrochemical performance. The enhanced structure stability of the as-fabricated 3DIP-Sn foil was verified by chemo-mechanical simulations and experimental investigation. As expected, the 3DIP-Sn foil anode revealed a long cycle lifespan of 4400 h at 0.5 mA cm^(−2) and 1 mAh cm^(−2) in Sn||Li half cells. A 3DIP-Sn||LiFePO_(4) full cell with LiFePO_(4) loading of 7.1 mg cm^(−2) exhibited stable cycling for 500 cycles with 80% capacity retention at 70 mA g^(−1). Pairing with high-loading commercial LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O_(2) (NCM622, 18.4 mg cm^(−2)) cathode, a 3DIP-Sn||NCM622 full cell delivered a high reversible capacity of 3.2 mAh cm^(−2). 19High‑Quality Epitaxial N Doped Graphene on SiC with Tunable Interfacial Interactions via Electron/Ion Bridges for Stable Lithium‑Ion Storage显示文摘Tailoring the interfacial interaction in SiCbased anode materials is crucial to the accomplishment of higher energy capacities and longer cycle lives for lithium-ion storage.In this paper,atomic-scale tunable interfacial interaction is achieved by epitaxial growth of high-quality N doped graphene(NG)on SiC(NG@SiC).This well-designed NG@SiC heterojunction demonstrates an intrinsic electric field with intensive interfacial interaction,making it an ideal prototype to thoroughly understand the configurations of electron/ion bridges and the mechanisms of interatomic electron migration.Both density functional theory(DFT)analysis and electrochemical kinetic analysis reveal that these intriguing electron/ion bridges can control and tailor the interfacial interaction via the interfacial coupled chemical bonds,enhancing the interfacial charge transfer kinetics and preventing pulverization/aggregation.As a proof-of-concept study,this well-designed NG@SiC anode shows good reversible capacity(1197.5 mAh g^(−1)after 200 cycles at 0.1 A g^(−1))and cycling durability with 76.6%capacity retention at 447.8 mAh g^(−1)after 1000 cycles at 10.0 A g^(−1).As expected,the lithium-ion full cell(LiFePO_(4)/C//NG@SiC)shows superior rate capability and cycling stability.This interfacial interaction tailoring strategy via epitaxial growth method provides new opportunities for traditional SiC-based anodes to achieve high-performance lithium-ion storage and beyond.Changlong Sun Xin Xu Cenlin Gui Fuzhou Chen Yian Wang Shengzhou Chen Minhua Shao Jiahai Wang 2023Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,11:0
20DCX and CRABP2 are candidate genes for differential diagnosis between pre-chemotherapy embryonic and alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma in pediatric patients显示文摘Importance Rhabdomyosarcoma(RMS)is the most common soft tissue sarcoma in children.More than 90%of cases are classified as embryonic RMS(ERMS)or alveolar RMS(ARMS).ERMS has a worse prognosis than ARMS.Early differential diagnosis is of paramount importance for optimization of treatment.Objective To identify genes that are differentially expressed between ARMS and ERMS,which can be used for accurate rhabdomyosarcoma classification.Methods Three Gene Expression Omnibus datasets composed of ARMS and ERMS samples were screened and 35 differentially expressed genes(DEGs)were identified.Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis and area under the curve analysis was performed for these 35 DEGs and seven candidate genes with the best differential expression scores between ARMS and ERMS were determined.The expression of these seven candidate genes was validated by immunohistochemical analysis of pre-chemotherapy ARMS and ERMS specimens.Results The levels of DCX and CRABP2 were confirmed to be remarkably different between paraffin-embedded ARMS and ERMS tissues,while EGFR abundance was only marginally different between these two RMS subtypes.Interpretation DCX and CRABP2 are potential biomarkers for distinguishing ARMS from ERMS in pre-chemotherapy pediatric patients.Nian Sun Yeran Yang Shengcai Wang Jie Zhang Jingang Gui Jun Tai Lejian He Jiatong Xu Yanzhen Li Xuexi Zhang Qiaoyin Liu Zhiyong Liu Yongli Guo Xin Ni 2021Pediatric Investigation2021,5,2:0
