THE PERFORMANCE OF GLOBAL MODELS IN TC TRACK FORECASTING OVER THE WESTERN NORTH PACIFIC FROM 2010 TO 2012显示文摘Forecasts of tropical cyclone(TC)tracks from six global models during 2010 and 2012 were assessed to study the current capability of track forecast guidance over the western North Pacific. To measure the performance of the global model forecasts,a series of statistical evaluations of track forecasts up to 120 h were carried out, including the mean, median, percentile distribution, regional distribution, relative position, correlation analysis, and binned analysis. Results showed that certain improvements have been made for the six global models in their prediction accuracy and stability in the past three years.Remarkably, stepped decreases in the values of each quantile were found at all lead time levels from 2010 to 2012 for NCEP-GFS.An analysis of the regional distribution of position errors showed that a high-latitude region,low-latitude region(which covers mostly the TC genesis region)and the South China Sea are the three main areas within which large errors tend to concentrate. The majority of the models show their own respective characteristics of systematic bias at each lead time,as established through the relative position analysis results.Only the results of NCEP-GFS and CMA-T639 did not show any obvious systematic bias in the three-year study period.Binned analyses indicated that the prediction accuracy and stability of most of the models were better for strong TCs than for weak TCs at short lead time levels. It was also found that the models tend to perform better for initially large TCs,or for those with weak vertical wind shear at lead times shorter than 48 h.The results demonstrate the heavy reliance of forecast errors upon the initial characteristics of a TC or its environmental conditions.Guomin Chen Hui Yu Qing Cao Zhihua Zeng 2013Tropical Cyclone Research and Review2013,2,3:11
Analysis of genetic architecture and favorable allele usage of agronomic traits in a large collection of Chinese rice accessions显示文摘Genotyping and phenotyping large natural populations provide opportunities for population genomic analysis and genome-wide association studies(GWAS). Several rice populations have been re-sequenced in the past decade;however, many major Chinese rice cultivars were not included in these studies. Here, we report large-scale genomic and phenotypic datasets for a collection mainly comprised of 1,275 rice accessions of widely planted cultivars and parental hybrid rice lines from China. The population was divided into three indica/Xian and three japonica/Geng phylogenetic subgroups that correlate strongly with their geographic or breeding origins. We acquired a total of 146 phenotypic datasets for 29 agronomic traits under multi-environments for different subpopulations. With GWAS, we identified a total of 143 significant association loci, including three newly identified candidate genes or alleles that control heading date or amylose content. Our genotypic analysis of agronomically important genes in the population revealed that many favorable alleles are underused in elite accessions, suggesting they may be used to provide improvements in future breeding efforts. Our study provides useful resources for rice genetics research and breeding.Xiuxiu Li Zhuo Chen Guomin Zhang Hongwei Lu Peng Qin Ming Qi Ying Yu Bingke Jiao Xianfeng Zhao Qiang Gao Hao Wang Yunyu Wu Juntao Ma Liyan Zhang Yongli Wang Lingwei Deng Shanguo Yao Zhukuang Cheng Diqiu Yu Lihuang Zhu Yongbiao Xue Chengcai Chu Aihong Li Shigui Li Chengzhi Liang 2020Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,11:8
Three-dimensional cell culture models for investigating human viruses显示文摘Three-dimensional(3D) culture models are physiologically relevant, as they provide reproducible results, experimental flexibility and can be adapted for high-throughput experiments. Moreover, these models bridge the gap between traditional two-dimensional(2D) monolayer cultures and animal models. 3D culture systems have significantly advanced basic cell science and tissue engineering, especially in the fields of cell biology and physiology, stem cell research, regenerative medicine, cancer research, drug discovery, and gene and protein expression studies. In addition,3D models can provide unique insight into bacteriology, virology, parasitology and host-pathogen interactions. This review summarizes and analyzes recent progress in human virological research with 3D cell culture models. We discuss viral growth, replication, proliferation, infection, virus-host interactions and antiviral drugs in 3D culture models.Bing He Guomin Chen Yi Zeng 2016Virologica Sinica2016,31,5:5
Simulation and optimization for a 30-MeV electron accelerator driven neutron source显示文摘A neutron source driven by electron accelerator is proposed in Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics (SINAP). The facility is planned for the study of nuclear data in Thorium-Uranium cycling system, and for material research. A detailed simulation of the neutron source is performed for the program to get the neutron generation maximum economically. Several parameters of the facility, which affect the neutron yield and the neutron escape from outer surface of the target, are analyzed respectively. Besides, the yielding neutron spectrum and the escaping neutron angular distribution are calculated and discussed.LIN Zuokang SUN Guomin CHEN Jingen LIU Guimin DAI Zhimin 2012Nuclear Science and Techniques2012,23,5:4
PERFORMANCE OF TROPICAL CYCLONE FORECAST IN WESTERN NORTH PACIFIC IN 2016显示文摘The forecasts of tropical cyclones(TC) in 2016 from 5 official guidances, 5 global models, 3 regional models and 6 ensemble systems were assessed to study the current capabilities of track and intensity forecasts for the western North Pacific. In 2016, the position errors for each official agency were under 85, 150 and 250 km at the lead times of 24, 48, and 72 h, respectively, indicating the performance of track forecasts was a little worse than that in 2015. For each lead time, decreases were seen for each quantile value of the global models from 2010 to 2015; however, this progress in forecasts was stagnated or was reversed in 2016, especially for long lead times.A new error tracking tool, called a 'Track Error Rose',was used to visualize the spatial distributions of the track forecast error relative to the observed TC center. The results show that as lead time increases, the moving speed of most global model TC forecasts becomes slower than those of the observations, and the largest track error often appears to the south of the observation position. In 2016, JMA-GSM, NCEP-GFS, STI-GRAPES and UKMO-MetUM made considerable progress in their intensity forecasts at lead times of 24 and 48 h, and the EPS intensity forecasts made significant progress compared to those of 2015.GUOMIN CHEN XIPING ZHANG PEIYAN CHEN HUI YU RIJIN WAN 2017Tropical Cyclone Research and Review2017,6,1:4
Mining of a streptothricin gene cluster from Streptomyces sp.TP-A0356 genome via heterologous expression显示文摘Streptothricins (STs) are used commercially to treat bacterial and fungal diseases in agriculture. Mining of the sequenced microbial genomes uncovered two cryptic ST clusters from Streptomyces sp. C and Streptomyces sp. TP-A0356. The ST cluster from S. sp. TP-A0356 was verified by successful heterologous expression in Streptomyces coelicolor M145. Two new ST analogs were produced together with streptothricin F and streptothricin D in the heterologous host. The ST cluster was further confirmed by inactivation of gene stnO, which was proposed encoding an aminomutase supplying -lysines for the poly-β-Lys chain formation. A putative biosynthetic pathway for STs is proposed based on bioinformatics analyses of the ST genes and experimental evidence.LI JinE GUO ZhengYan HUANG Wei MENG XiangXi AI GuoMin TANG GongLi CHEN YiHua 2013Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,7:3
OVERVIEW OF SEVERE TYPHOON FITOW AND ITS OPERATIONAL FORECASTS显示文摘Severe typhoon Fitow(1323)brought persistent and heavy rainfall to Zhejiang and the Shanghai area after it made landfall at Fujian Province of China in October 2013,breaking the rainfall records of several counties and districts in Zhejiang. In this paper,we provide an overview of the characteristics of Fitow’s landfall, including its track, intensity, structural evolution, heavy rainfall, and wind.We also describe some of the associated disastrous impacts. Finally,we provide verifications of operational forecasts of its track, intensity and rainfall.Though the track and intensity is well predicted, the rainfall persistence and enhancement in the second stage in Shanghai and north Zhejiang areas are not predicted out at all.The analysis presented in this paper provides forecasters and researchers with some valuable information on Fitow, which could form a useful basis for further studies.ZIFENG YU YANDIE CHEN DAN WU GUOMIN CHEN XUWEI BAO QIUZHEN YANG RUNLING YU LEI ZHANG JIE TANG MING XU ZHIHUA ZENG 2014Tropical Cyclone Research and Review2014,3,1:2
WMO TYPHOON LANDFALL FORECAST DEMONSTRATION PROJECT(WMO-TLFDP) PROGRESS AND FUTURE PLANS显示文摘The 'WMO Typhoon Landfall Forecast Demonstration Project(TLFDP)' was started in May 2010 in conjunction with the start of the Shanghai World Expo 2010. The project was successful in terms of assisting the local forecasters in providing an efficient tropical cyclone(TC) forecast service for World Expo 2010, demonstrating the performance of the most up-to-date techniques in TC forecasting, and enhancing the ability of forecasters to effectively use products based on advanced TC forecasting techniques. The first phase was completed in December 2012 and the second phase was completed in December 2015. The third phase(TLFDP-III) started in 2016.During its first(2010-2012) and second(2013-2015) phases, TLFDP collected real-time TC forecast products from 15 Typhoon Forecast Product Providers(TFPPs). The products include deterministic track and intensity forecasts, ensemble track and intensity forecasts, deterministic wind radii forecasts, wind probability forecasts, and gridded model outputs. The products were disseminated through the project's website and the operational website of the Shanghai Typhoon Warning Center.TLFDP has made significant progress in TC forecast verification, including setting up the tools for both realtime and post-season TC forecast verification, developing and integrating several new verification techniques, carrying out a survey on the operational status of TC forecast verification in the western North Pacific region, and contributing to the WMO document 'Verification of tropical cyclone forecasts'. The post-season forecast verification was reported to the Session of the UNESCAP/WMO Typhoon Committee since 2013. New consensus methods for TC track and intensity forecasts were also proposed either based on Ensemble Prediction Systems(EPSs) products or multiple deterministic NWP model products. Two training workshops on TC forecasting were organized by the TLFDP and held in Shanghai, China, in May 2010 and June 2012, respectively, and seven research fellowship projects were implemented as jointly supported by the UNESCAP/WMO Typhoon Committee, Shanghai Typhoon Institute and Hong Kong Observatory. In its third phase(TLFDP-III, 2016-2018), the project will continue its effort on demonstration and evaluation of the newly developed forecasting techniques for TCs, and developing and documenting advanced guidance for the verification of TC forecasts, with special attention to TC intensity and precipitation.Xiaotu Lei Hui Yu Guomin Chen Barbara Brown Sai Tick Chan Ajit Tyagi 2016Tropical Cyclone Research and Review2016,5,3:2

An Efficient Post-quantum Identity-Based Signature显示文摘Digital signature is one of the most important cryptography primitives.Recently, more and more works have been done to construct signatures over lattice problems to keep them secure in the quantum age.Among them,a ring-based signature scheme named Dilithium is the most efficient one and a candidate in the third round of the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s post-quantum cryptography project. To make those schemes work well in large network,we constructed the first ring-based Identity-based signature(IBS)scheme for light-weight authentication. The construction in this paper relies on the transformations introduced by Bellare et al.in Journal of Cryptology(Vol.22,No.1,pp.1–61,2009)and its security can be proved under the hardness of ringlearning with errors problem in the random oracle model.Due to better trapdoor and polynomial ring setting, our proposed scheme are much better than the previous ones in terms of both computation and communication complexities.YANG Zhichao DUNG H.Duong WILLY Susilo YANG Guomin LI Chao CHEN Rongmao 2021Chinese Journal of Electronics2021,30,2:1
Estrogen intervention in microvascular morphology and choline acetyltransferase expression in rat hippocampal neurons in chronic cerebral ischemia显示文摘We observed dynamic changes in microvessels and a protective effect of estrogen on chronic cerebral ischemia ovariectomized rat models established through permanent occlusion of bilateral carotid arteries at 7,14 and 21 days. The results revealed that estrogen improved microvasculature in the hippocampus of chronic cerebral ischemic rats, upregulated Bcl-2 protein expression, downregulated Bax protein expression, increased choline acetyltransferase expression in hippocampal cholinergic neurons, and suppressed hippocampal neuronal apoptosis. These findings indicate that estrogen can protect hippocampal neurons in rats with chronic cerebral ischemia.Zhenjun Yang Hongwei Yan Guomin Zhang Zhihong Chen Jingfeng xue 2011Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,17:1
A Flow-Based Authentication Handover Mechanism for Multi-Domain SDN Mobility Environment显示文摘The long authentication handover delay is the greatest challenge in multi-domain SDN environment. In order to solve this problem, an authentication handover mechanism under multi-SDN domain(AHMMD) is proposed in this paper. In AHMMD, firstly, when the mobility entity accesses the network for the first time, its identity and service attributes are authenticated by the flow authentication protocol, which is designed based on the asymmetric encryption key; secondly, when the mobility entity moves to the neighbor domain, the authentication information will be delivered from the current controller to the neighborhood controller through a security communication channel. In order to promote the efficiency, a handover time prediction algorithm is adopted in AHMMD. Experimental results based on our AHMMD prototype have shown that the handover delay decreases by 50% while the handover cost decreases by 60%.Ke Ding Xiulei Wang Guomin Zhang Zhen Wang Ming Chen 2017China Communications2017,14,9:1

EVALUATION OF TROPICAL CYCLONE FORECASTS FROM OPERATIONAL GLOBAL MODELS OVER THE WESTERN NORTH PACIFIC IN 2013显示文摘Tropical cyclones(TCs)forecasts from seven global models in 2013 were assessed to study the current capability of track and intensity forecast guidance over the western North Pacific.Analysis of along-and cross-track error revealed stepped decreases in the values of each quantile at each lead time level by showing the annual track error distribution from 2010 to 2013,particularly in the ECMWF-IFS,NCEP-GFS and UKMO-Met UM models. The TC propagation direction was much easier to handle for most of the global models;however, the propagation speed seemed to be more closely linked to the inner-core dynamics and thus processes that take place at smaller spatial scales.A new model evaluation tool,‘track error rose’,was used to analyze the models’systematic error in the track forecast using the same concepts as the‘wind rose’.The results showed that as the lead time increased, most of the global models forecast a TC moving speed that was slower than observations and the largest track error often appeared around the rear direction of the observation position.Another new model evaluation tool, the Taylor diagram, was used to evaluate the intensity predictions from the global models.A Taylor diagram provides a way of plotting standard deviation, centered root mean square, and the correlation coefficient on a two-dimensional graph, indicating how closely a predicted TC intensity matches observations. This made it easy to distinguish the intensity forecast performance of the seven global models and determine which models were in relatively good agreement with observations.Furthermore,it also provided a statistical measure of the correlation between modeled and observed TC intensity, offering a practical way of assessing and summarizing model capability.GUOMIN CHEN HUI YU QING CAO 2015Tropical Cyclone Research and Review2015,4,1:1

Effects of Different Flue-curing Technologies on Submicroscopic Structure of Flue-cured Tobacco Leaves显示文摘[Objective]This study aimed to compare the effects of low-temperature low-humidity tobacco flue-curing technology,moderate-temperature moderatehumidity tobacco flue-curing technology and moderate-temperature high-humidity tobacco flue-curing technology on submicroscopic structure of flue-cured tobacco leaves to provide theoretical basis for tobacco flue-curing. [Method] Middle leaves of tobacco cultivar K326 were collected in Pengshui County of Chongqing City for flue-curing experiment using three flue-curing technologies. Leaf samples were collected regularly in the flue-curing process,to investigate the submicroscopic structure of flue-cured tobacco leaves. [Result]Morphology changes and structural rupture of chloroplasts occurred at different time during three flue-curing processes. In low-temperature low-humidity flue-curing process, morphology changes and structural rupture of chloroplasts occurred late but rapidly; in moderate-temperature moderate-humidity flue-curing process and moderate-temperature high-humidity flue-curing process, morphology changes and structural rupture of chloroplasts occurred early but slowly. Among these three flue-curing processes, the speed of changes in mitochondria morphology, cristae number and membrane rupture presented an upward order of low-temperature low-humidity flue-curing process < moderate-temperature high-humidity flue-curing process < moderate-temperature moderate-humidity flue-curing process. In low-temperature low-humidity flue-curing process, starch granules in chloroplasts ruptured after flue-curing for 36- 48 h;in moderate-temperature moderate-humidity flue-curing process, starch granules in chloroplasts ruptured after flue-curing for 24- 36 h; in moderate-temperature high-humidity flue-curing process, starch granules in chloroplasts ruptured after flue-curing for 12- 24 h. [Conclusion]Using low-temperature low-humidity fluecuring technology could prolong the maintenance duration of the submicroscopic structure integrity of flue-cured tobacco leaves, which was conducive to fully decomposing and transforming substances in tobacco leaves and obtaining high-quality flue-cured tobacco leaves.Guomin CUI Bojun WANG Rongchun LI Anding XU Yiyin CHEN Chao YANG Min PU 2014Agricultural Biotechnology2014,3,1:1

Effects of Different Flue-curing Technologies on Microscopic Structure of Flue-cured Tobacco Leaves显示文摘[Objective]This study aimed to compare the effects of Chinese quality-improving fragrance-increasing tobacco flue-curing technology,Chinese threestage tobacco flue-curing technology and Zimbabwean tobacco flue-curing technology on microscopic structure of flue-cured tobacco leaves to provide theoretical basis for tobacco flue-curing. [Method]Middle leaves of tobacco cultivar K326 were collected in Pengshui County of Chongqing City for flue-curing experiment using three flue-curing technologies. Leaf samples were collected regularly in the flue-curing process,to investigate the microscopic structure of flue-cured tobacco leaves.[Result]During three flue-curing processes, leaves, palisade tissues and sponge tissues shrank gradually. Three flue-curing processes exhibited significant differences in the peak of tissue shrinkage: microscopic structure of flue-cured tobacco leaves in Chinese three-stage tobacco flue-curing process shrank earliest, follower by Chinese quality-improving fragrance-increasing tobacco flue-curing process; flue-cured tobacco leaves in Zimbabwean tobacco flue-curing process presented the latest shrinkage. At 84 h post-curing,leaf thickness in three flue-curing processes showed a descend order of Chinese three-stage tobacco flue-curing process >Chinese quality-improving fragrance-increasing tobacco flue-curing process > Zimbabwean tobacco flue-curing process. Upper and lower epidermal cells in Zimbabwean tobacco flue-curing process ruptured earlier than other two flue-curing processes; eventually, the majority of cells ruptured and mixed with palisade tissues and sponge tissues. In Chinese quality-improving fragrance-increasing tobacco flue-curing process, only a small number of epidermal cells in dried leaves ruptured.Among three flue-curing technologies,Zimbabwean tobacco flue-curing technology exhibited the greatest damage to epidermal cells, followed by Chinese three-stage tobacco flue-curing technology; Chinese quality-improving fragrance-increasing tobacco flue-curing technology had the minimum damage to epidermal cells. Mesophyll cross-section exhibited significant morphological changes in stomata. To be specific,at 0- 12 h post-curing,stomata of tobacco leaves closed with slightly prominent stomatal apparatuses on upper and lower epidermis; at 24- 72 h post-curing,stomata of tobacco leaves changed gradually from opening to closure with significantly prominent stomatal apparatuses on upper and lower epidermis; at 84 h post-curing,stomata of tobacco leaves closed, and the majority of stomatal apparatuses were significantly prominent. In Chinese quality-improving fragrance-increasing tobacco flue-curing process, only a small number of epidermal cells ruptured at 84 h post-flue-curing; palisade tissues and sponge tissues shrank almost simultaneously. Significant gaps were observed between palisade tissues and between palisade tissues and sponge tissues. Chinese quality-improving fragrance-increasing tobacco flue-curing technology exhibited lower disorder level compared with other two flue-curing technologies. [Conclusion]Chinese quality-improving fragrance-increasing tobacco flue-curing technology was conducive to maintaining the microscopic structure integrity of flue-cured tobacco leaves and obtaining high-quality flue-cured tobacco leaves.Guomin CUI Bojun WANG Rongchun LI Anding XU Yiyin CHEN Chao YANG Min PU 2014Agricultural Biotechnology2014,3,2:1
