Enhanced photocatalytic activity of Ce-doped ZnO nanopowders synthesized by combustion method显示文摘Facile and fast combustion method was used to synthesize Zn O and Ce-doped Zn O(CZO) nanocrystalline powders photocatalysts with different cerium concentrations(0.5 wt.%–10.0 wt.%) followed by calcination at 700 oC for 3 h. The prepared samples were characterized by a variety of characterization techniques such as X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM) combined with energy dispersive X-ray diffraction(EDX), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), UV-visible spectroscopy, BET surface area analyser and photoluminescence spectroscopy(PL), to study the crystal structure, surface morphology, chemical composition and optical properties. It was observed from XRD results that synthesized powders had hexagonal wurtzite structure with the smallest crystallite size about 13 nm. Absorption spectra showed that cerium doping enhanced the light absorption properties towards the visible light region. Photoluminescence spectra for Ce-doped Zn O samples exhibited relatively weak near band edge(NBE) emission peaks as compared to that of pristine Zn O. The photocatalytic activities of the prepared samples were evaluated by photocatalytic degradation of Rhodamine B(Rh B) under UV light and visible light(λ≥420 nm) irradiation. The textile mill effluent containing organic matters was also treated under sunlight using photocatalysis and the reduction in the chemical oxygen demand(COD) of the treated effluent revealed a complete destruction of the organic molecules along with colour removal. The results showed that the CZO photocatalyst doped with 3.0 wt.% cerium exhibited four times enhanced photocatalytic activity compared to pure Zn O. The enhanced photocatalytic activity could be attributed to extended visible light absorption and inhibition of the electron-hole pair's recombination. | M.Ahmad E.Ahmed Fezza Zafar N.R.Khalid N.A.Niaz Abdul Hafeez M.Ikram M.Ajmal Khan 洪樟连 | 2015 | Journal of Rare Earths2015,33,3: | 13
Seed priming improves early seedling vigor, growth and productivity of spring maize显示文摘Potential of seed priming treatments in improving the performance of early planted maize was evaluated against timely planting. Seeds of maize hybrid FH-810 were soaked in water(hydropriming), Ca Cl2(2.2%, osmopriming), moringa leaf extracts(MLE 3.3%, osmopriming) and salicylic acid(SA, 50 mg L–1, hormonal priming) each for 18 h. Untreated and hydroprimed seeds were taken as control. Seeds primed with SA took less time in emergence and had high vigor in early planted maize. Amongst treatments, hormonal priming, reduced the electrical conductivity, increased the leaf relative and chlorophyll contents followed by osmopriming with Ca Cl2 at seedling stage. Likewise, plant height, grain rows and 1 000-grain weight, grain and biological yield and harvest index were also improved by seed priming; however hormonal priming and osmopriming with MLE were more effective in this regard. Improved yield performance by hormonal priming or osmopriming with MLE in early planting primarily owed to increased leaf area index, crop growth and net assimilation rates, and maintenance of green leaf area at maturity. In conclusion, osmopriming with MLE and hormonal priming with SA were the most economical treatments in improving productivity of early planted spring maize through stimulation of early seedling growth at low temperature. | Hafeez ur Rehman Hassan Iqbal Shahzad M A Basra Irfan Afzal Muhammad Farooq Abdul Wakeel WANG Ning | 2015 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2015,14,9: | 3

Cotton germplasm improvement and progress in Pakistan显示文摘Cotton(Gossypium spp.)contributes significantly to the economy of cotton-producing countries.Pakistan is the fourth-largest producer of cotton after China, the USA and India. The average yield of cotton is about 570.99 kg.hm^(−2) in Pakistan.Climate change and different biotic stresses are causing reduction in cotton production.Transgenic approaches have unique advantage to tackle all these problems. However, how to confer permanent resistance in cotton against insects through genetic modification,is still a big challenge to address.Development of transgenic cotton has been proven to be effective. But its effectiveness depends upon several factors, including heterogeneity, seed purity, diffusion of varieties, backcrossing and ethical concerns.Cotton biotechnology was initiated in Pakistan in 1992–1993 with a focus on acquiring cotton leaf curl virus(CLCuV)-resistant insect-resistant,and improving fiber quality. This review summarizes the use of molecular markers,QTLs,GWAS,and gene cloning for cotton germplasm improvement, particularly in Pakistan. | RAZZAQ Abdul ZAFAR Muhammad Mubashar ALI Arfan HAFEEZ Abdul BATOOL Wajeeha SHI Yuzhen GONG Wankui YUAN Youlu | 2021 | Journal of Cotton Research2021,4,1: | 1
Implementation of drone technology for farm monitoring&pesticide spraying:A review显示文摘The world receives more than 200 thousand people in a day and it is expected that the total world population will reach 9.6 billion by the year 2050.This will result in extra food demand, which can only be met from enhanced crop yield. Therefore, modernization of the agricultural sector becomes the need of the hour. There are many constraints that are responsible for the low production of crops, which can be overcome by using drone technology in the agriculture sector. This paper presents an analysis of drone technologies and their modifications with time in the agriculture sector in the last decade. The application of drones in the area of crop monitoring, and pesticide spraying for Precision Agriculture(PA)has been covered. The work done related to drone structure, multiple sensor development, innovation in spot area spraying has been presented. Moreover, the use of Artificial Intelligent(AI)and deep learning for the remote monitoring of crops has been discussed. | Abdul Hafeez Mohammed Aslam Husain S.P.Singh Anurag Chauhan Mohd.Tauseef Khan Navneet Kumar Abhishek Chauhan S.K.Soni | 2023 | Information Processing in Agriculture2023,10,2: | 1

Development of mutants with varying flowering times by targeted editing of multiple SVP gene copies in Brassica napus L.显示文摘Manipulation of flowering time to develop cultivars with desired maturity dates is fundamental in plant breeding. It is desirable to generate polyploid rapeseed(Brassica napus L.)germplasm with varying flowering time controlled by a few genes. In the present study,Bna SVP,a rapeseed homolog of the Arabidopsis SVP(Short Vegetative Phase)gene, was characterized and a set of mutants was developed using a CRISPR/Cas9-based gene-editing tool.A single construct targeting multiple sites was successfully applied to precisely mutate four copies of Bna SVP.The induced mutations in these copies were stably transmitted to subsequent generations.Homozygous mutants with loss-of-function alleles and free transgenic elements were generated across the four Bna SVP homologs. All mutant T_(1)lines tested in two environments(summer and winter growing seasons)showed early-flowering phenotypes. The decrease in flowering time was correlated with the number of mutated Bna SVP alleles. The quadruple mutants showed the shortest flowering time, with a mean decrease of 40.6%–50.7%in length relative to the wild type under the two growth conditions. Our study demonstrates the quantitative involvement of Bna SVP copies in the regulation of flowering time and provides valuable resources for rapeseed breeding. | Sunny Ahmar Yungu Zhai Huibin Huang Kaidi Yu Muhammad Hafeez Ullah Khan Muhammad Shahid Rana Abdul Samad Shahid Ullah Khan Olalekan Amoo Chuchuan Fan Yongming Zhou | 2022 | The Crop Journal2022,10,1: | 1
National guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of hilar cholangiocarcinoma显示文摘A consensus meeting of national experts from all major national hepatobiliary centres in the country was held on May 26,2023,at the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute&Research Centre(PKLI&RC)after initial consultations with the experts. The Pakistan Society for the Study of Liver Diseases(PSSLD)and PKLI&RC jointly organised this meeting. This effort was based on a comprehensive literature review to establish national practice guidelines for hilar cholangiocarcinoma(hCCA).The consensus was that hCCA is a complex disease and requires a multidisciplinary team approach to best manage these patients. This coordinated effort can minimise delays and give patients a chance for curative treatment and effective palliation. The diagnostic and staging workup includes high-quality computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and magnetic resonance cholangiopancreato-graphy.Brush cytology or biopsy utilizing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography is a mainstay for diagnosis. However, histopathologic confirmation is not always required before resection.Endoscopic ultrasound with fine needle aspiration of regional lymph nodes and positron emission tomography scan are valuable adjuncts for staging. The only curative treatment is the surgical resection of the biliary tree based on the Bismuth-Corlette classification.Selected patients with unresectable hCCA can be considered for liver transplantation.Adjuvant chemotherapy should be offered to patients with a high risk of recurrence. The use of preoperative biliary drainage and the need for portal vein embolisation should be based on local multidisciplinary discussions.Patients with acute cholangitis can be drained with endoscopic or percutaneous biliary drainage.Palliative chemotherapy with cisplatin and gemcitabine has shown improved survival in patients with irresectable and recurrent hCCA. | Faisal Saud Dar Zaigham Abbas Irfan Ahmed Muhammad Atique Usman Iqbal Aujla Muhammad Azeemuddin Zeba Aziz Abu Bakar Hafeez Bhatti Tariq Ali Bangash Amna Subhan Butt Osama Tariq Butt Abdul Wahab Dogar Javed Iqbal Farooqi Faisal Hanif Jahanzaib Haider Siraj Haider Syed Mujahid Hassan Adnan Abdul Jabbar Aman Nawaz Khan Muhammad Shoaib Khan Muhammad Yasir Khan Amer Latif Nasir Hassan Luck Ahmad Karim Malik Kamran Rashid Sohail Rashid Mohammad Salih Abdullah Saeed Amjad Salamat Ghias-un-Nabi Tayyab Aasim Yusuf Haseeb Haider Zia Ammara Naveed | 2024 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2024,30,9: | 0
