1Pterygium in Aged Population in Doumen County, China显示文摘Purpose:To estimate the prevalence of pterygium and its influence on visual acuity in aged population of Doumen County,southern China.Methods:A population-based survey was conducted in Doumen County,the rural area of southern China,twenty-seven sample units were selected by random sampling.The prevalence and severity of pterygium and it-related low visual acuity were analyzed.Results:Of the total 4762 individuals aged 50 years or over,4214 were examined.The prevalence of pterygium was 33.01% in subjects aged 50 years or above.There was a significantly higher prevalence in female(35.70%)than in male(29.70%,P=0.025).The prevalence of pterygium in age groups of 50s,60s,70s and 80s years old is 33.98%,36.40%,30.73% and 25.40%,respectively.Most of the pterygia were located in the nasal side(93.31%)of cornea,and only 6.69% in the temporal side.0.92% of the eyes had visual acuity less than 0.32,which were directly caused by pterygia.Conclusion:The current survey suggests that the pterygium is one of the most common diseases of external eye in th population ged 50 years and above.It is still leading to the impairment of visual acuity in the rural area.Kaili Wu, Mingguang He, Jingjing Xu, Shaozhen LiZhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou 510060, China 2002眼科学报2002,18,3:18
2Porous bowl-shaped VS2 nanosheets/graphene composite for high-rate lithium-ion storage显示文摘Two-dimensional (2D) layered vanadium disulfide (VS2) is a promising anode material for lithium ion batteries (LIBs) due to the high theoretical capacity.However,it remains a challenge to synthesize monodispersed ultrathin VS2 nanosheets to realize the full potential.Herein,a novel solvothermal method has been developed to prepare the monodispersed bowl-shaped NH3-inserted VS2 nanosheets (VS2).The formation of such a unique structure is caused by the blocked growth of (001) or (002) crystal planes in combination with a ripening process driven by the thermodynamics.The annealing treatment in Ar/H2creates porous monodispersed VS2(H-VS2),which is subsequently integrated with graphene oxide to form porous monodispersed H-VS2/rGO composite coupled with a reduction process.As an anode material for LIBs,H-VS2/rGO delivers superior rate performance and longer cycle stability:a high average capacity of 868/525 mAh g^-1 at a current density of 1/10 A g^-1;a reversible capacity of 1177/889 mAh g^-1 after 150/500 cycles at 0.2/1 A g^-1.Such excellent electrochemical performance may be attributed to the increased active sites available for lithium storage,the alleviated volume variations and the shortened Li-ion diffusion induced from the porous structure with large specific surface area,as well as the protective effect from graphene nanosheets.Daxiong Wu Caiyun Wang Mingguang Wu Yunfeng Chao Pengbin He Jianmin Ma 2020Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,4:11
3Relationship between Refractive Error and Ocular Biometrics in Twin Children:the Guangzhou Twin Eye Study显示文摘Purpose:A cross-sectional study was conducted to explore the relationship between refractive error and ocular biometrics in children from the Guangzhou twin eye study.Methods:.Twin participants aged 7-15 years were selected from Guangzhou Twin Eye Study..Ocular examinations included visual acuity measurement, ocular motility evaluation, autorefraction under cycloplegia, and anterior segment, media, and fundus examination...Axial length(AL),..anterior cham ber depth(ACD), and corneal curvature radius were measured using partial coherence laser interferometry. A multivariate linear regression model was used for statistical analysis.Results:.Twin children from Guangzhou city showed a decreased spherical equivalent with age,.whereas both AL and ACD were increased and corneal curvature radius remained unchanged. When adjusted by age and gender, the data from77% of twins presenting with spherical equivalent changes indicated that these were caused by predictable variables.(R2=0.77, P<0.001). Primary factors affecting children's refraction included axial length(β=-0.97,P<0.001), ACD(β=0.33,P<0.001), and curvature radius(β=2.10,P<0.001). 5Structurally tunable characteristics of ionic liquids for optimizing lithium plating/stripping via electrolyte engineering显示文摘Electrolyte chemistry offers the opportunity to regulate the solid electrolyte interphase(SEI) and Li^(+)solvation,which is considered to be crucial to the growth of lithium crystals for safe lithium metal batteries(LMBs).Structurally tunable characteristics of ionic liquids(ILs) from anion type,cationic substituent chain length and cationic substituents,will contribute this field.Here,we explore the influence mechanism of imidazole-based ILs as electrolyte additives on Li+solvation and the formation of SEI.ILs can participate into the formation of efficient SEI,together with cathode electrolyte interphase(CEI).Moreover,ILs can also regulate the sheath structure of Li^(+)solvation,to fasten the kinetics of Li.Furthermore,the imidazole-based cations with long alkyl chain can form an electrostatic shield around newly formed Li nucleus,and suppress further Li plating at this site.Under the optimized condition,the 1-octyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide([OMIm]TFSI) additive shows the best ability to enhance the electrochemical performance,endowing the Li||Li symmetric cell with a stable life(over800 h) at 0.5 mA cm^(-2) and the Li||LiNi_(0.6)Mn_(0.2)Co_(0.2)O_(2)(NMC622) full cell with a high capacity of 141.7 mAh g^(-1) after 200 cycles at 0.5 C.Shihan Qi Jiandong Liu Jian He Huaping Wang Mingguang Wu Daxiong Wu Junda Huang Fang Li Xin Li Yurong Ren Jianmin Ma 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,12:2
6Pseudo-concentrated electrolytes for lithium metal batteries显示文摘Lithium metal batteries suffer from short lifespans and low Coulombic efficiency (CE) due to the high reactivity of Li and the poor stability of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI). Herein, we propose the concept of a pseudo-concentrated electrolyte (PCE) induced by an electron-deficient additive (4-pyridylboronic acid;4-PBA) to form a robust, LiF-rich SEI, thus addressing the above issues. Molecular dynamics simulations confirm that 4-PBA can increase the coordination number of PF6^(-) anions in the Li+ solvation sheath to achieve pseudo-concentrated LiPF6 in the electrolyte. Moreover, the 4-PBA can scavenge harmful PF5 decomposed from LiPF6 to stabilize the LiF-rich SEI. The resulting robust LiF-rich SEI promotes Li growth along the SEI/Li interface and represses the growth of Li dendrites. Thus, excellent performance is achieved, with a high CE of 97.1% for a Li||Cu cell at 1.0 ​mA ​cm^(−2), and over 950 cycles at 0.5 ​mA ​cm^(−2) for Li||Li symmetric cells with 1.0 ​wt% 4-PBA electrolyte. 8New perspectives on the prevention of myopia显示文摘The high prevalence of myopia and its public health and clinical consequences make prevention of myopia a top priority.Traditional approaches to prevention have been based on reducing accommodative load,and have generally been unsuccessful.Only treatment with atropine eye-drops has produced clinically significant effects,.which are however of limited duration and suffer from potential side-effects.In addition,based on animal experimentation,.it is now clear that atropine blocks eye growth by mechanisms which do not involve accommodation..More generally,.experimentation on animal models of myopia has shown that accommodation is not im-portant for the control of eye growth,whereas exposure to hyperopic (growth-promoting) and myopic (growth-inhibit-ing) defocus is more important.Recent epidemiological evi-dence has also questioned the importance of near work,al-though education is clearly important.This suggests a preven-tive approach based on deliberately increasing the amount of myopic defocus a child is exposed to may be successful.There is also convincing evidence that children who spend more time outside are less likely to become myopic,which also suggests a quite non-invasive approach to prevention.These new directions need to be pursued.Fan Xiang MD Ian G.
