2Effect of electroacupuncture on brain-derived neurotrophic factor mRNA expression in mouse hippocampus following cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury显示文摘OBJECTIVE:This work aims to observe the effects of electroacupuncture on brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF) mRNA expression in mouse hippocampus following cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.METHODS:The models of mouse cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury were established.A total of 96 healthy mice were randomly assigned into 4 groups,namely,the sham surgery,model,model + electroacupuncture,and mode + hydergine groups.Mice in the model + electroacupuncture group were treated through electroacupuncture at the Shenshu(BL 23),Geshu(BL 17),and Baihui(GV 20) acupoints.Mice in the model+hydergine group were intragastrically administered with hydergine(0.77 mg/kg-1 · day-1).The levels of BDNF mRNA expressions in the hippocampus were analyzed through a semi-quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction assay on days 1 and 7 after the surgeries.RESULTS:BDNF mRNA expressions in the mouse hippocampus of the model group on days 1 and 7 after the surgery were higher than those of the sham surgery group(both P<0.01).On days 1 and 7 of the electroacupuncture treatment,BDNF mRNA expression in the mouse hippocampus of the model + electroacupuncture group was significantly elevated compared with the model group(both P< 0.01) or the model + hydergine group(both P< 0.01).On days 1 and 7 of the hydergine treatment,BDNF mRNA expression in the mouse hippocampus of the model + hydergine group tended to increase compared with the model group;however,statistical significance was not achieved(both P> 0.05).CONCLUSION:Electroacupuncture treatment enhances endogenous BDNF expression,which may improve the survival environment for intracerebral neurons and inhibit the apoptosis of hippocampal cells.Jianxin Zhao Huazhou Xu Yuanxiang Tian Manxiang Hu Hongling Xiao 2013Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,2:14
3Pediatric reference intervals in China(PRINCE):design and rationale for a large,multicenter collaborative cross-sectional study显示文摘There is a lack of accurate pediatric reference intervals(RIs) in China, with most commonly used RIs established without consideration of the effect of age and gender. The Pediatric Reference Intervals in China(PRINCE) project aims to establish and verify pediatric RIs for 31 common laboratory measurands.The project will be a large, multicenter cross-sectional study:14,490 healthy children and adolescents aged up to 19 years will be surveyed by 10 children's hospitals and one pediatric department of a university hospital. To evaluate the feasibility and efficiency of the study methods, 602 children were surveyed in the pilot phase of the PRINCE study in April 2017: it found that some measurands were distinctly age dependent and that there were differences between values for males and females. The results of the pilot study affirmed the necessity of the PRINCE project for Chinese pediatrics. The pilot also indicated potential difficulties in the full survey, e.g., difficulties in recruiting children aged under 3 years and insufficient collection of blood samples from infants. 4Analyses of trends and causes for variations in runoff and sediment load of the Yellow River显示文摘Due to the impacts of globe climate change and human activities,dramatic variations in runoff and sediment load were observed for the Yellow River.Analyses of nearly 65 years' data measured at main hydrologic-stations on the Yellow River from 1950 to 2014 indicated that,except for the Tangnaihai station in the head region,sharp downward trends existed in both the annual runoff and annual sediment load according to the Mann-Kendal trend test;and their abrupt changes occurred in 1986 and in1980,respectively,according to the rank sum test.Factors affecting the changes in the runoff and sediment load were very complicated.Results indicated that the reducing precipitation and the increasing water consumption were the main causes for the runoff decline,while the impoundment of the Longyangxia Reservoir and its combined operation with the Liujiaxia Reservoir exerted a direct bearing on the abrupt change in the annual runoff.In addition to the sediment load decrease associated with the runoff reduction,the reduced storm intensity,the conducted soil erosion control,and the constructed dam buildings all played an important role in the trends and abrupt changes of sediment load decline.Hongling Shi Chunhong Hu Yangui Wang Cheng Liu Huimei Li 2017International Journal of Sediment Research2017,32,2:11

6Reproductive toxicity of organic extracts from petrochemical plant effluents discharged to the Yangtze River,China显示文摘Water pollution of the Yangtze River in China became one of challenges that the government is facing today.Increasing numbers of petrochemical plants were built along the river in past decades,and numbers of organic chemicals were discharged into the river.Our goal was to establish in vitro system on rat sertoli cells,spermatogenic cells and leydig cells to investigate the reproductive toxicity potential induced by organic extracts from petrochemical effluents.Our results showed that the organic extract depressed the viability(p<0.01) and destroyed the plasma membrane integrity of sertoli cells and spermatogenic cells to a certain degree.Accordingly,proportion of early apoptotic sertoli cells and late apoptotic spermatogenic cells increased significantly.Although significant morphological changes were not detected for leydig cells,the extract was observed to inhibit their testosterone production(p<0.01).Sertoli cells and spermatogenic cells appeared to be more sensitive and maybe the main targets of the key toxins.These results suggested that the in vitro system on rat testicular cells may be useful to predicate reproductive toxicity potential of organic extracts from petrochemical effluents.More attention should be paid to the petrochemical effluents,because long-term accumulation of these organic compounds in organisms may cause spermatogenesis malfunction and testosterone reduction.Xiaoyi Wang Wei Shi Jiang Wu Yingqun Hao Guanjiu Hu Hongling Liu Xiaodong Han Hongxia Yu 2010Journal of Environmental Sciences2010,22,2:7

8Controlled growth and photoconductive properties of hexagonal SnS2 nanoflakes with mesa-shaped atomic steps显示文摘We demonstrated the controlled growth of two-dimensional (2D) hexagonal tin disulfide (SnS2) nanoflakes with stacked monolayer atomic steps. The morphology was similar to flat-topped and step-sided mesa plateaus or step pyramids. The SnS2 nanoflakes were grown on mica substrates via an atmospheric-pressure chemical vapor deposition process using tin monosulfide and sulfur powder as precursors. Atomic force microscopy (AFM), electron microscopy, and Raman characterizations were performed to investigate the structural features, and a sequential layer-wise epitaxial growth mechanism was revealed. In addition, systematic Raman characterizations were performed on individual SnS2 nanoflakes with a wide range of thicknesses (1-100 nm), indicating that the A1g peak intensity and Raman shifts were closely related to the thickness of the SnS2 nanoflakes. Moreover, photoconductive AFM was performed on the monolayer-stepped SnS2 nanoflakes, revealing that the flat surface and the edges of the SnS2 atomic steps had different electrical conductive properties and photoconductive behaviors. This is ascribed to the dangling bonds and defects at the atomic step edges, which caused a height difference of the Schottky barriers formed at the interfaces between the PtIr-coated AFM tip and the step edges or the flat surface of the SnS2 nanoflakes. 12Flotation performance of a novel Gemini collector for kaolinite at low temperature显示文摘How to sustainably produce bauxite by effective reverse froth flotation of kaolinite at low temperature is an urgent problem to be solved in the field of mineral processing.In this work,a novel amino-based Gemini surfactant butadiyl-1,4-bis(dimethyl dodecylammonium bromide)(BBDB) was prepared and first utilized as a novel collector for kaolinite flotation.Its flotation performance for kaolinite was compared with that of the common monomolecular surfactant 1-dodecylamine(DDA) by micro-flotation tests.The tests results indicated that 95% kaolinite recovery was obtained using 2.0×10^(-4) mol/L BBDB at 25℃ which was half of the dosage when DDA obtained the maximum kaolinite recovery of81%.At extremely low temperature(0℃),3.0×10^(-4) mol/L BBDB could still collect 91% kaolinite,while DDA showed a frustrating ability.The contact angle tests indicated that BBDB could still significantly improve the hydrophobicity of the kaolinite surface(contact angle 71.7°) than DDA(contact angle only25.8°) at 0℃.The Krafft point comparison tests indicated that BBDB had a much lower Krafft point(below0℃) than DDA.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)-spectrum analysis and zeta potential measurements showed that BBDB was physically adsorbed on the surface of kaolinite through electrostatic interaction.Shiyong Zhang Zhiqiang Huang Hongling Wang Rukuan Liu Chen Cheng Shuyi Shuai Yajing Hu Zhiqun Guo Xinyang Yu Guichun He Weng Fu 2021International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2021,31,6:2

17Efficient reduction and adsorption of Cr(Ⅵ)using FeCl_(3)-modified biochar:Synergistic roles of persistent free radicals and Fe(Ⅱ)显示文摘Transition metal iron and persistent free radicals(PFRs)both affect the redox properties of biochar,but the electron transfer relationship between them and the coupling reduction mechanism of Cr(Ⅵ)requires further investigation.To untangle the interplay between iron and PFRs in biochar and the infuences on redox properties,FeCl_(3)-modified rice husk biochar(FBCs)was prepared and its reduction mechanism for Cr(Ⅵ)without light was evaluated.The FBCs had higher surface positive charges,oxygen-containing functional groups,and PFRs compared with pristine rice husk biochar(BC).Phenoxyl PFRs with high electrondonating capability formed in biochar.The pronounced electron paramagnetic resonance signals showed that the PFRs preferred to form at lower Fe(Ⅲ)concentrations.While a high concentration of Fe(Ⅲ)would be reduced to Fe(Ⅱ)and consumed the formed PFRs.Adsorption kinetics and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis indicated that the FBCs effectively enhanced the Cr(Ⅵ)removal efficiency by 1.54-8.20 fold and the Cr(Ⅵ)reduction efficiency by 1.88-9.29 fold compared to those of BC.PFRs quenching and competitive reductant addition experiments revealed that the higher Cr(Ⅵ)reduction performance of FBCs was mainly attributed to the formed PFRs,which could contribute to~74.0%of Cr(Ⅵ)reduction by direct or indirect electron transfer.The PFRs on FBCs surfaces could promote the Fe(Ⅲ)/Fe(Ⅱ)cycle through single electron transfer and synergistically accelerate~52.3%of Cr(Ⅵ)reduction.This study provides an improved understanding of the reduction mechanism of iron-modified biochar PFRs on Cr(Ⅵ)in environments.Shujie Hu Chengshuai Liu Hongling Bu Manjia Chen Ying-heng Fei 2024Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,3:1

Phagocytosis of cancer cells is the major mechanism for these myeloid cells-mediated antitumor activity.
