1Silk-derived peptide nanospirals assembled by self-propelled wormlike filaments显示文摘Swirl-like nanospiral is a common structure found in free-swimming biological systems,such as microtubules and actin filaments or slender bacteria.It is desired for artificially designed dynamic nanomaterials.However,the spiral formation has rarely been reported in both engineered peptides and regenerated proteins.Herein,we report that such a unique assembly behavior can be achieved by using a fusion peptide consisting of a silk-derived peptide(i.e.,GAGAGAGY)and a hydrophobic,photoresponsive azobenzene(Azo)segment.In this fusion structure,GAGAGAGY acts as a domain that spontaneously forms an elongated filament in an aqueous solution,while Azo acts as a'light-operated switch'that can undergo photoinduced isomerization to modulate the self-propulsion forces and assembly behavior.With this design,the critical factors that affect the assembly of Azo-GAGAGAGY filament,including(i)length and flexibility of filaments;(ii)propulsion,and(iii)excluded volume interactions force the tip of the filament to wind up,can be regulated to realize the spiral formation.In addition,the configurations of Azo-GAGAGAGY filaments,such as straight nanoribbons,wavy nanoribbons,single-circle spiral,and multiple-circle spiral,can be facilely mediated by changing the preparation procedure,concentration,and pH value of Azo-GAGAGAGY solution,as these changes have significant influences on self-propulsion forces.Our findings can help in the better understanding of nonequilibrium thermodynamics and collective behavior of biological systems.The findings can be used as a guideline for the designs of nanoactuators,microswimmers,transformable microrobots,and intelligent drug carriers.Huijuan Wen Jinrong Yao Xin Chen Shengjie Ling Zhengzhong Shao 2023Nano Research2023,16,1:0
2Successful rescue of disseminated Nocardia infection with multiple abscesses in a patient with membranous nephropathy after cardiopulmonary resuscitation:A three-year follow-up显示文摘Nocardiosis manifests as an opportunistic infection,primarily affecting individuals who are immunocompromised and susceptible to the infection.We present a case study of one patient with nephrotic syndrome and membranous nephropathy,who underwent treatment with prednisone and cyclosporine in 2016.In early 2017,the patient was diagnosed with a'fungal infection'and discontinued the use of cyclosporine.After one month of anti-infection therapy,a cranial magnetic resonance imaging scan showed multiple abscesses in the right temporal region.The diagnosis of nocardiosis was confirmed based on the presence of metastatic abscess masses,multiple lung and brain lesions,and a positive culture of Nocardia in the drainage.We changed the anti-infection therapy to a combination of trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole(TMP-SMX),minocycline,and voriconazole.However,the patient experienced a sudden cardiac arrest and subsequently recovered after cardiopulmonary resuscitation.During the five-month follow-up period following the discharge,the patient displayed an enhanced nutritional status and stable renal function.The focal infection ultimately resolved during the subsequent three years.Neuro-infection caused by Nocardia should be considered in immunocompromised patients,and TMP-SMX is the preferred initial therapy;however,because of the high mortality rate,a long-term combination therapy with imipenem,cefotaxime,amikacin,and TMP-SMX is suggested.Yili Xu Hanyang Qian Wen Qian Li Dong Weiying Liu Yan Zhu Yaning Mei Yi Xu Ling Wang Yi Xia Xu Qi Huanping Mei Xueqiang Xu Huijuan Mao Changying Xing Ningning Wang 2024The Journal of Biomedical Research2024,38,2:0

6Status and Progress on an HTS Strand with Quasi-isotropic Critical Current显示文摘The coated conductors(CCs),also known as the second-generation high-temperature superconducting(2G HTS)tape,has attractive potential applications in transmissions at low magnetic field/liquid nitrogen temperatures and high-field applications at low temperatures due to their excellent critical current density and mechanical performance.Its critical current density has strong anisotropy,particularly at 77 K.Because the single tape has limited capacity of carrying current,the cable or strand making of multi-tapes,stacked in parallel,is necessary.Within recent years,several cables,such as the Roebel cable,CORC cable,TSTC cable,TS cable,and the HTSCroCo cable,were proposed.This paper presents a status and progress on a type of HTS strand made from REBCO tapes.Its quasi-isotropic critical current is experimentally confirmed for liquid nitrogen temperature,mechanical characteristics,AC losses,thermal stability,and quench characterizations are also researched.Finally,the feasible process for the production of practical length of such strand is described by processing 10 m long sample,which is promising for applications of high fields or power transmission.Jian Du Jianlong Sun Yang Nie Siming Mo Yuan Cai Huijuan Chen Wen Yuan Yinshun Wang 2021CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2021,7,1:0
7Green Control Measures of Weeds in Wheat Fields in Hetao Irrigation Area along the Yellow River显示文摘This study was conducted to solve the problem of green weed control in wheat fields in Hetao irrigation area among the Yellow River.Based on the observation of the competition between wheat and weeds in areas where weeds occurred seriously in wheat fields in Hetao irrigation area among the Yellow River,we measured the effects of green weed control measures and wheat yield using different wheat varieties,planting densities,different organic fertilizers,different ploughing times,and different mulching methods.The results showed that the emergence of weeds in wheat fields dominated by Chenopodiaceae weeds,grain amaranth and barnyard grass was more than 10 d later than wheat.Weeds were mainly distributed between rows(holes),and the number of plants accounted for 66.6%(drill seeding)and 97.6%(hole seeding),respectively.And the growth of weeds in rows(holes)was weaker,and the fresh weight of individual plants was 39.3%-41.9%lower than that between rows(holes).The ecological weed inhibitory effect was significant in the early stage of wheat growth;and among the green weed control measures,except that different varieties and planting densities caused no significant difference in weed control effect,other measures had obvious weed control effects.Comprehensive comparison showed that the control effects of plant number in black film full-covered hole seeding,conventional film-covered hole seeding,increasing ploughing times,and applying organic fertilizer free of weed seed pollution were 82.3%,71.7%,22.0%,and 8.6%,respectively;the fresh weight control effects of black film full-covered hole seeding,conventional film-covered hole seeding,increasing ploughing times,and applying organic fertilizer free of weed seed pollution were 98.0%,97.1%,23.9%,and 9.6%,respectively;and the fresh weight control effects of black film full-covered hole seeding,conventional film-covered hole seeding and increasing ploughing times increased wheat yield by 69.4%,56.4%and 21.1%,respectively.The technologies in this study can realize the purposes of mechanized green weed control in organic wheat production and low-cost,high-yield,large-scale production.Lei YANG Jing LIU Ruiqiang WEN Peizhi ZHANG Chang LIU Aiqing WEN Jiancheng ZHANG Chunzhi ZHAO Huijuan ZHANG Hongxu ZHANG Guoqiang LI 2021Agricultural Biotechnology2021,10,6:0
8Seasonal variation of foliar δ^(13)C values and its indictor significance in Sabina przewalskii and Sabina chinensis显示文摘Seasonal variation of foliar δ13C values as well as proline,silicon,MDA and relative water content in Sabina przewalskii Kom.and S.chinensis (Lin.) Ant.were measured.The results show that foliar δ13C values were significantly different at different seasons:lower in winter but higher in summer.δ13C values were positively correlated with air temperature and soil temperature.This demonstrates that foliar δ13C of Sabina is a successful empirical indictor of temperature.Furthermore,foliar δ13C values were positively related to proline and silicon content,and negatively related to relative water content and MDA content.Compared with S.chinensis,S.przewalskii has higher δ13C values,proline and silicon content as well as lower MDA and relative water content.All these results provided strong evidence that it is feasible for δ13C to be regarded as another index to evaluate freezing tolerance of Sabina.Tuo Chen HuiJuan Pei YouFu Zhang LongYing Wen HongGuan Tang YuanQing He 2011Research in Cold and Arid Regions2011,3,2:0
9NAD+associated genes as potential biomarkers for predicting the prognosis of gastric cancer显示文摘Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD+)plays an essential role in cellular metabolism,mitochondrial homeostasis,inflammation,and senescence.However,the role of NAD+-regulated genes,including coding and long non-coding genes in cancer development is poorly understood.We constructed a prediction model based on the expression level of NAD+metabolism-related genes(NMRGs).Furthermore,we validated the expression of NMRGs in gastric cancer(GC)tissues and cell lines;additionally,β-nicotinamide mononucleotide(NMN),a precursor of NAD+,was used to treat the GC cell lines to analyze its effects on the expression level of NMRGs lncRNAs and cellular proliferation,cell cycle,apoptosis,and senescence-associated secretory phenotype(SASP).A total of 13 NMRGs-related lncRNAs were selected to construct prognostic risk signatures,and patients with high-risk scores had a poor prognosis.Some immune checkpoint genes were upregulated in the high-risk group.In addition,cell cycle,epigenetics,and senescence were significantly downregulated in the high-risk group.Notably,we found that the levels of immune cell infiltration,including CD8 T cells,CD4 naïve T cells,CD4 memory-activated T cells,B memory cells,and naïve B cells,were significantly associated with risk scores.Furthermore,the treatment of NMN showed increased proliferation of AGS and MKN45 cells.In addition,the expression of SASP factors(IL6,IL8,IL10,TGF-β,and TNF-α)was significantly decreased after NMN treatment.We conclude that the lncRNAs associated with NAD+metabolism can potentially be used as biomarkers for predicting clinical outcomes of GC patients.XIANGDONG SUN HUIJUAN WEN FAZHAN LI IHTISHAM BUKHARI FEIFEI REN XIA XUE PENGYUAN ZHENG YANG MI 2024Oncology Research2024,32,2:0
10Optimization of group control strategy and analysis of energy saving in refrigeration plant显示文摘This study proposes a group control system optimization strategy coupled with a refrigeration plant model for a primary pump variable flow system,in order to improve the automation level of the refrigeration plant and maximize the energy saving potential.First,the control variables,optimization objectives,and operational con-straints of the entire system were analyzed.Then,by collecting the operational data for each component and combining these data with theoretical analysis,the sub models were designed and the input parameters,output parameters,and optimization variables of each sub-model were defined.Next,the sub-models were coupled and the control variables of the operational combination,leading to the lowest overall system energy consumption,were obtained using a particle swarm optimization algorithm.Finally,considering a medical building in North China as an example,the application effectiveness of the optimal control strategy of the refrigeration plant was analyzed.The results showed that the energy-savings of the group control system after the optimization of the re-frigerator,chilled water pump,cooling water pump,and cooling tower could reach 9.42,8.04,5.67,and 14.64%,respectively.This is a remarkable energy-savings benefit.The research described in this study also provides some reference for the design of group control systems in refrigeration plants.Tu Daixin Xia Hongwei Yin Huijuan Yu Hao Hou Wen 2022Energy and Built Environment2022,3,4:0
11Moderate quantity of lard mixed with sunflower oil attenuate lipid accumulation in mice显示文摘Lard,a fat rich in saturated fatty acids(SFAs),is regarded as a risk factor for metabolic diseases.In the present study,effect of different lard blended with sunflower oil diets on lipid accumulation in adipose tissue,liver,and serum by mouse model was researched.Body weight,body fat percentage,cross-sectional area of adipocytes,liver triglycerides(TGs),and oil red stained area in mice liver of lard blend sunflower oil(L-SFO)group were significantly lower than those of sunflower oil(SFO)group,whereas no significant differences were observed between mice of lard and L-SFO groups.Serum TG and free fatty acid levels were significantly lower in L-SFO group than in other two groups.Furthermore,data showed that sunflower oil decreased contents of hormonesensitive lipase and carnitine palmitoyl transferase 1(CPT-1)and increased fatty acid synthase activity in liver tissue.A mixture of lard and sunflower oil rather than only sunflower oil or lard might promote body fat loss and reduce lipid accumulation in adipose tissue,serum,and liver by promoting hydrolysis of TG,increasingβ-oxidation of fatty acids.These data suggested that mixing lard and vegetable oil(e.g.sunflower oil)for cooking,or alternate using lard and vegetable oil could be beneficial for reducing body fat.Sisi Yan Xin Li Linyu Zhang Yu Zeng Shuiping Liu Xiangyan Liu Huijuan Zhou Lixin Wen Ji Wang 2020Oil Crop Science2020,5,4:0
