| 2 | Efficacy of intramuscular matrine in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B显示文摘BACKGROUND: Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, a glo- bal public health problem, is the leading cause of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) worldwide. There are more than 350 million HBV carriers in the world and up to one million die annually due to hepatitis B associated liv- er disease. So far no optimal treatment is available for pa- tients with chronic hepatitis B. In the paper we investigated the efficacy of intramuscular matrine in the treatment of chronic hepatitis B. METHODS: One hundred and twenty patients with chronic hepatitis B were randomly divided into matrine treatment group (n =60) and control group (n =60). The patients of the matrine group were given intramuscularly with matrine (an alkaloid extracted from a traditional Chinese herb Radix Sophorae Flavescentis by Guangzhou Ming Xing Pharmaceu cal Factory, Guangzhou, China) of 100 mg daily for 90 days in addition to conventional liver-protective drugs in- cluding glucurone, inosine, compound vitamin B and caryophyllin. The control group received conventional liv- er-protective drugs alone. Clinical manifestations and labo- ratory parameters including liver biochemistry and serum hepatitis B virus markers were monitored before and after treatment in the two groups. RESULTS: Significant differences were seen between the two groups in terms of improvement of clinical symptoms and signs, recovery of liver functions, and serum conver- sion from hepatitis Be antigen to HBe antibody and from positive to negative serum HBV DNA (P <0.05-0.01). The result of the matrine group was more marked than that of the control group. Serious side-effects were not observed except mild pain at the site of injection of matrine in a few patients. | 4 | Actively priming autophagic cell death with novel transferrin receptor-targeted nanomedicine for synergistic chemotherapy against breast cancer显示文摘Recently, considerable attention in the field of cancer therapy has been focused on the mammalian rapamycin target(m TOR), inhibition of which could result in autophagic cell death(ACD). Though novel combination chemotherapy of autophagy inducers with chemotherapeutic agents is extensively investigated, nanomedicine-based combination therapy for ACD remains in infancy. In attempt to actively trigger ACD for synergistic chemotherapy, here we incorporated autophagy inducer rapamycin(RAP) into 7 pep-modified PEG-DSPE polymer micelles(7 pep-M-RAP) to specifically target and efficiently priming ACD of MCF-7 human breast cancer cells with high expression of transferrin receptor(Tf R). Cytotoxic paclitaxel(PTX)-loaded micelle(7 pep-M-PTX) was regarded as chemotherapeutic drug model. We discovered that with superior intracellular uptake in vitro and more tumor accumulation of micelles in vivo, 7 pep-M-RAP exhibited excellent autophagy induction and synergistic antitumor efficacy with 7 pep-M-PTX. Mechanism study further revealed that 7 pep-M-RAP and 7 pep-MPTX used in combination provided enhanced efficacy through induction of both apoptosis-and mitochondria-associated autophagic cell death. | 6 | Rice allelopathy and its properties of molecular ecology显示文摘Crop allelopathy is a promising and environmentally friendly method in weed control;however,the inducible genetic trait for allelopathy in the suppression of weeds needs to be overcome for practical use.Further study needs to be directed to this end to elucidate the molecular genetics and its physiologic mechanism.In this paper,the authors review recent advances in the investigation of rice allelopathy and its molecular regulatory mechanism,especially in responses to stressful conditions including biotic and abiotic factors in China.Previous studies show that rice allelopathy could be enhanced when the rice accession was exposed to stressful conditions,and further analysis by the transcriptomics and proteomics approaches conducted in our laboratory indicated that the increase in allelopathic potential of rice,when exposed to the stresses,was attributed to increased expression level of genes involved in phenolic synthetic metabolism.The increasing phenolic compounds have been confirmed as the main allelochemicals and they jointly act to suppress the target,especially in responses to stressful condition,but it seems to be the primary effect in phenolic allelopathy.We still wonder how the exudates from rice root,which were released into rhizosphere soil,are transformed by soil microorganism to produce the higher secondary effect of phenolic allelopathy in the suppression of weeds.Therefore,the authors suggest that rhizosphere biologic properties of allelopathy in rice and its mechanism are being the key research areas in the world now,and systems biology and its approaches,such as metagenomics and metaproteomics,would be helpful to reveal the process and its molecular ecological mechanism regarding rhizospheric biology of rice allelopathy. | Wenxiong LIN Changxun FANG Ting CHEN Ruiyu LIN Jun XIONG Haibin WANG | 2010 | Frontiers in Biology2010,5,3: | 5 |
| 7 | Multi-objective clustering analysis via combinatorial pigeon inspired optimization显示文摘Multi-objective data clustering is an important issue in data mining, and the realization of data clustering using the multiobjective optimization technique is a significant topic. A combinatorial multi-objective pigeon inspired optimization(CMOPIO)with ring topology is proposed to solve the clustering problem in this paper. In the CMOPIO, a delta-locus based coding approach is employed to encode the pigeons. Thus, the length of pigeon representation and the dimension of the search space are significantly reduced. Thereby, the computational load can be effectively depressed. In this way, the pigeon inspired optimization(PIO) algorithm can be discretized with an auxiliary vector to address data clustering. Moreover, an index-based ring topology with the ability of contributing to maintain flock diversity is adopted to improve the CMOPIO performance. Using this new oscillator, a bionic neural control system, the central pattern generators (CPGs) control system, is built. This control system has a two-level form. To validate the function of this new oscillator and the control system, simulations and experiments were both carried out, a simple robotic fish was built with three joints, and the results showed that the new oscillator can be used in startup and stop control mode, angle offset control mode and amplitude changing control mode. | 10 | Anti-VEGF therapy prevents Müller intracellular edema by decreasing VEGF-A in diabetic retinopathy显示文摘Background:Although vascular endothelial growth factor A(VEGF-A)is known to play a key role in causing retinal edema,whether and how VEGF-A induces intracellular edema in the retina still remains unclear.Methods:Sprague-Dawley rats were rendered diabetic with intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin.Intravitreal injection of ranibizumab was performed 8 weeks after diabetes onset.rMC-1 cells(rat Müller cell line)were treated with glyoxal for 24 h with or without ranibizumab.The expression levels of inwardly rectifying K^(+)channel 4.1(Kir4.1),aquaporin 4(AQP4),Dystrophin 71(Dp71),VEGF-A,glutamine synthetase(GS)and sodium-potassium-ATPase(Na^(+)-K^(+)-ATPase)were examined using Western blot.VEGF-A in the supernatant of the cell culture was detected with ELISA.The intracellular potassium and sodium levels were detected with specific indicators.Results:Compared with normal control,protein expressions of Kir4.1 and AQP4 were down-regulated significantly in diabetic rat retinas,which were prevented by ranibizumab.The above changes were recapitulated in vitro.Similarly,the intracellular potassium level in glyoxal-treated rMC-1 cells was increased,while the intracellular sodium level and Na^(+)-K^(+)-ATPase protein level remained unchanged,compared with control.However,ranibizumab treatment decreased intracellular sodium,but not potassium.Conclusion:Ranibizumab protected Müller cells from diabetic intracellular edema through the up-regulation of Kir4.1 and AQP4 by directly binding VEGF-A.It also caused a reduction in intracellular osmotic pressure. | Tianqin Wang Chaoyang Zhang Hai Xie Mengmeng Jiang Haibin Tian Lixia Lu Guo-Tong Xu Lin Liu Jingfa Zhang | 2021 | Eye and Vision2021,8,1: | 3 |
| 11 | Quantitative climatic reconstruction of the Last Glacial Maximum in China显示文摘Quantitative paleoclimatic reconstruction is crucial for understanding the operation and evolution of the global climate system.For example,a quantitative paleoclimatic reconstruction for the Last Glacial Maximum(18±2 ka14C,LGM)is fundamental to understanding the evolution of Earth’s climate during the last glacial-interglacial cycle.Previous quantitative palaeoclimate reconstructions in China are generally based on statistical comparison of modern pollen assemblages and modern climate data.These methods are based on the premise that vegetation-climate interactions remain the same through time,and implicitly assume that the interactions are independent of changes in seasonality and atmospheric CO2concentration.However,these assumptions may not always be valid,which may affect the reconstructions.Here,we present the results of a quantitative study of the LGM climate of China based on an improved inverse vegetation model which incorporates physiological processes combined with a new China Quaternary Pollen Database.The results indicate that during the LGM,mean annual temperature(ANNT),mean temperature of the coldest month(MTCO)and mean temperature of the warmest month in China were lower by^5.6±0.8,~11.0±1.6 and^2.6±0.9°C,respectively,compared to today,and that the changes in ANNT were mainly due to the decrease of MTCO.The ANNT decrease in southern China was^5.5±0.5°C.Mean annual precipitation was lower by^46.3±17.8 mm compared to today and was especially low in northern China(~51.2±21.4 mm)due to the decrease in summer rainfall.Comparison of our results with recent outputs from paleoclimatic modelling reveals that while the latter are broadly consistent with our estimated changes in mean annual climatic parameters,there are substantial differences in the seasonal climatic parameters.Our results highlight the crucial importance of developing seasonal simulation on paleoclimatic models,as well as the need to improve the quality of paleoclimatic reconstructions based on proxy records from geological archives. | Haibin WU Qin LI Yanyan YU Aizhi SUN Yating LIN Wenqi JIANG Yunli LUO | 2019 | Science China Earth Sciences2019,62,8: | 3 |
| 12 | Selective laser melting of dense and crack-free AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1) eutectic high entropy alloy: Synergizing strength and ductility显示文摘Additively manufactured high-entropy alloys generally suffer from low strength and/or poor ductility.In this work,by leveraging the good castability of eutectic high entropy alloys and high cooling rate of selective laser melting(SLM),we report a nearly fully dense and crack-free as-SLM AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1) eutectic high entropy alloy with an exceptional strength-ductility synergy,showing an ultrahigh yield strength of 982.1±35.2 MPa and an ultimate tensile strength of 1322.8±54.9 MPa together with an elongation to fracture of 12.3±0.5%.Such strength-ductility enhancement is owing to the heterogeneous eutectic microstructure consisting of the columnar,equiaxed,and“L-shape”cells with much refined sizes down to nanoscales.The morphology of cells in the transition zone is related to the misorientation between the growth direction of adjacent layers.This heterogeneous eutectic microstructure is the result of the graingrowth behavior dominated by the mechanisms of the epitaxial growth and growth of heterogeneous nuclei in SLM.Our current results provide a new methodology for the future design of ultrahigh-strength and ductile SLM-fabricated metallic materials including HEAs,and other printable alloys for various structural applications. | Lin He Shiwei Wu Anping Dong Haibin Tang Dafan Du Guoliang Zhu Baode Sun Wentao Yan | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,22: | 2 |
| 13 | Fluorescence enhancement of Tb^(3+) complexes by adding silica-coated silver nanoparticles显示文摘Six kinds of terbium ternary complexes with halo-benzoic acids were synthesized. Their compositions were determined by C, H elemental analyzer and EDTA titration. The infrared spectra, ultraviolet absorption spectra, and fluorescence spectra were also measured to identify the complexes. Elemental analysis showed that the compositions of these complexes were Tb(p-Br BA)3?H2O, Tb(p-Cl BA)3?2H2O, Tb(p-FBA)3?H2O, Tb(o-FBA)3?2H2O, Tb(o-Cl BA)3?H2O, and Tb(o-Br BA)3?H2O, respectively. The monodispersed Ag@Si O2 core-shell nanoparticles with silica thicknesses of 10, 15, and 25 nm were successfully prepared and characterized by transmission-electron microscopy. Fluorescence intensities of the complexes were detected before and after Ag@Si O2 core-shell nanoparticles were added; the enhancement times were related to the silica-shell thickness. The fluorescence enhancement times were largest when the thickness of the silica shell was 25 nm. The mechanism may be attributed to the localized surface-plasmon resonance. Furthermore, the enhancement effect of terbium fluoro-benzoate complexes was the strongest in these complexes. To this end, this paper proposes a novel priority-aware frequency domain polling medium access control(MAC) protocol, which takes advantage of an orthogonal frequency-division multiple access(OFDMA)physical layer to achieve instantaneous priority-aware polling.Based on the polling result, the proposed work then optimizes the resource allocation of the OFDMA network to further improve the data reliability. Due to the non-polynomial-complete nature of the OFDMA resource allocation, we propose two heuristic rules,based on which an efficient solution algorithm to the OFDMA resource allocation problem is designed.
