| 1 | Pollutant concentrations and pollution loads in stormwater runoff from different land uses in Chongqing显示文摘To investigate the distribution of pollutant concentrations and pollution loads in stormwater runoff in Chongqing,six typical land use types were selected and studied from August 2009 to September 2011.Statistical analysis on the distribution of pollutant concentrations in all water samples shows that pollutant concentrations fluctuate greatly in rainfall-runoff,and the concentrations of the same pollutant also vary greatly in different rainfall events.In addition,it indicates that the event mean concentrations (EMCs) of total suspended solids (TSS) and chemical oxygen demand (COD) from urban traffic roads (UTR) are significantly higher than those from residential roads (RR),commercial areas (CA),concrete roofs (CR),tile roofs (TRoof),and campus catchment areas (CCA);and the EMCs of total phosphorus (TP) and NH3-N from UTR and CA are 2.35-5 and 3 times of the class-III standard values specified in the Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water (GB 3838-2002).The EMCs of Fe,Pb and Cd are also much higher than the class-III standard values.The analysis of pollution load producing coefficients (PLPC) reveals that the main pollution source of TSS,COD and TP is UTR.The analysis of correlations between rainfall factors and EMCs/PLPC indicates that rainfall duration is correlated with EMCs/PLPC of TSS for TRoof and TP for UTR,while rainfall intensity is correlated with EMCs/PLPC of TP for both CR and CCA.The results of this study provide a reference for better management of non-point source pollution in urban regions. | Shumin Wang Qiang He Hainan Ai Zhentao Wang Qianqian Zhang | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,3: | 33 |
| 2 | Discovery and Significance of High CH_4 Primary Fluid Inclusions in Reservoir Volcanic Rocks of the Songliao Basin,NE China显示文摘Comparing compositions of the fluid inclusions in volcanic rocks to the contents and isotopes of the gases in corresponding volcanic reservoirs using microthermometry, Raman microspectroscopy and mass spectrum analysis, we found that: (1) up to 82 mole% methane exists in the primary inclusions hosted in the reservoir volcanic rocks; (2) high CH4 inclusions recognized in the volcanic rocks correspond to CH4-bearing CO2 reservoirs that are rich in helium and with a high 3He/4He ratio and which show reversed order of δ 13C in alkane; (3) in gas reservoirs of such abiotic methane (>80%) and a mix of CH4 and CO2, the enclosed content of CH4 in the volcanic inclusions is usually below 42 mole%, and the reversed order of δ 13C in alkane is sometimes irregular in the corresponding gas pools; (4) a glassy inclusion with a homogeneous temperature over 900°C also contains a small portion of CH4 although predominantly CO2. | 5 | A Critical Time-Window for the Selective Induction of Hippocampal Memory Consolidation by a Brief Episode of Slow-Wave Sleep显示文摘Although extensively studied, the exact role of sleep in learning and memory is still not very clear. Sleep deprivation has been most frequently used to explore the effects of sleep on learning and memory, but the results from such studies are inevitably complicated by concurrent stress and distress. Furthermore, it is not clear whether there is a strict time-window between sleep and memory consolidation. In the present study we were able to induce time-locked slow-wave sleep(SWS) in mice by optogenetically stimulating GABAergic neurons in the parafacial zone(PZ), providing a direct approach to analyze the influences of SWS on learning and memory with precise time-windows. We found that SWS induced by light for 30 min immediately or 15 min after the training phase of the object-in-place task significantly prolonged the memory from 30 min to 6 h. However, induction of SWS 30 min after the training phase did not improve memory, suggesting a critical time-window between the induction of a brief episode of SWS and learning for memory consolidation.Application of a gentle touch to the mice during light stimulation to prevent SWS induction also failed to improve memory, indicating the specific role of SWS,but not the activation of PZ GABAergic neurons itself, in memory consolidation. Similar influences of light-induced SWS on memory consolidation also occurred for Y-maze spatial memory and contextual fear memory, but not for cued fear memory. SWS induction immediately before the test phase had no effect on memory performance, indicating that SWS does not affect memory retrieval. | 6 | Variation in cis-regulation of a NAC transcription factor contributes to drought tolerance in wheat显示文摘Drought is a major environmental factor limiting wheat production worldwide,and developing drought-tolerant cultivars is a central challenge for wheat breeders globally.Therefore,it is important to identify genetic components determining drought tolerance in wheat.In this study,we identified a wheat NAC gene(TaNAC071-A)that is tightly associated with drought tolerance by a genome-wide association study.Knockdown of TaNAC071-A in wheat attenuated plant drought tolerance,whereas its overexpression significantly enhanced drought tolerance through improved water-use efficiency and increased expression of stress-responsive genes.This heightened water-saving mechanism mitigated the yield loss caused by water deficit.Further candidate gene association analysis showed that a 108-bp insertion in the promoter of TaNAC071-A alters its expression level and contributes to variation in drought tolerance among wheat accessions.This insertion contains two MYB cis-regulatory elements(CREs)that can be directly bound by the MYB transcription activator,TaMYBL1,thereby leading to increased TaNAC071-A expression and plant drought tolerance.Importantly,introgression of this 108-bp insertion allele,TaNAC071-AIn-693,into drought-sensitive cultivars could improve their drought tolerance,demonstrating that it is a valuable genetic resource for wheat breeding.Taken together,our findings highlight a major breakthrough in determining the genetic basis underlying phenotypic variation in wheat drought tolerance and showcase the potential of exploiting CRE-containing indels for improving important agronomical traits. | Hude Mao Shumin Li Bin Chen Chao Jian Fangming Mei Yifang Zhang Fangfang Li Nan Chen Tian Li Linying Du Li Ding Zhongxue Wang Xinxiu Cheng Xiaojing Wang Zhensheng Kang | 2022 | Molecular Plant2022,15,2: | 9 |
| 7 | Near-Zero Air Pollutant Emission Technologies and Applications for Clean Coal-Fired Power显示文摘Coal is the dominant energy source in China,and coal-fired power accounts for about half of coal consumption.However,air pollutant emissions from coal-fired power plants cause severe ecological and environmental problems.This paper focuses on near-zero emission technologies and applications for clean coal-fired power.The long-term operation states of near-zero emission units were evaluated,and synergistic and special mercury(Hg)control technologies were researched.The results show that the principle technical route of near-zero emission,which was applied to 101 of China’s coal-fired units,has good adaptability to coal properties.The emission concentrations of particulate matter(PM),SO2,and NOx were below the emission limits of gas-fired power plants and the compliance rates of the hourly average emission concentrations reaching near-zero emission in long-term operation exceeded 99%.With the application of near-zero emission technologies,the generating costs increased by about 0.01 CNY∙(kW∙h)-1.However,the total emissions of air pollutants decreased by about 90%,resulting in effective improvement of the ambient air quality.Furthermore,while the Hg emission concentrations of the near-zero emission units ranged from 0.51 to 2.89μg∙m^-3,after the modified fly ash(MFA)special Hg removal system was applied,Hg emission concentration reached as low as 0.29μg∙m^-3.The operating cost of this system was only 10%-15%of the cost of mainstream Hg removal technology using activated carbon injection.Based on experimental studies carried out in a 50000 m^3∙h^-1 coal-fired flue gas pollutant control pilot platform,the interaction relationships of multi-pollutant removal were obtained and solutions were developed for emissions reaching different limits.A combined demonstration application for clean coal-fired power,with the new“1123”eco-friendly emission limits of 1,10,20 mg∙m^-3,and 3μg∙m^-3,respectively,for PM,SO2,NOx,and Hg from near-zero emission coal-fired power were put forward and realized,providing engineering and technical support for the national enhanced pollution emission standards. | Shumin Wang | 2020 | Engineering2020,6,12: | 6 |

| 11 | Synthesis of Mg-based composite material with in-situ formed LaH_3 and its hydrogen storage characteristics显示文摘In this work,a Mg-based composite material with in-situ formed LaH3, Mg_2 NiH_4-LiBH_4 + 20 wt% LaH3,was prepared by ball milling LiBH_4 and hydrogenated LaMg_2 Ni and Mg_2 Ni powder mixture, followed by heat treatment at 573 K. The onset dehydrogenation temperature of the composite is reduced by 50 K compared with that of Mg_2 NiH_4-LiBH_4. The LaH3-doped composite shows faster kinetics,absorbing1.43 wt% hydrogen within 100 s at 423 K,which is 6.5 times faster than Mg_2 NiH_4-LiBH4. Moreover,the composite releases 1.24 wt% hydrogen within 500 s at 573 K,0.69 wt% higher than Mg_2 NiH_4-LiBH_4. The activation energy of the composite is reduced by 8.2 and 80 kJ/mol compared with that of Mg_2 NiH_4-LiBH_4 and commercial MgH_2, respectively. The LaMg 3.70 Ni 1.18 alloy consists of main LaMg 2 Ni phase, minor La 2 Mg 17 and LaMg 3 phases. The alloy can be activated in the first hydriding/dehydriding process, and initial LaMg 2 Ni, La 2 Mg 17 , and LaMg 3 phases transfer to LaH 2.34 , Mg, and Mg 2 Ni phases after activation. The reversible hydrogen storage capacity of the LaMg 3.70 Ni 1.18 alloy is 2.47 wt.% at 558 K, which is higher than that of the LaMg 2 Ni alloy. The pressure-composition-temperature (PCT) curves display two hydriding plateaus, corresponding to the formation of MgH 2 and Mg 2 NiH 4 . However, only one dehydriding plateau is observed, owing to the synergetic effect of hydrogen desorption between MgH 2 and Mg 2 NiH 4 . The uptake time for hydrogen content to reach 99% of saturated state is less than 250 s, and 90% hydrogen can be released in 1200 s in the experimental conditions, showing fast kinetics in hydriding and dehydriding. The activation energies of the LaMg 3.70 Ni 1.18 alloy are -51.5 ± 1.1 kJ/mol and -57.0 ± 0.6 kJ/mol for hydriding and dehydriding, respectively. How environmental stimuli and top-down control from high-order sensory and limbic cortical areas converge and coordinate in this region to modulate diverse behavioral outputs remains unclear.Using a modified rabies virus, we applied monosynaptic retrograde tracing to the whole brain to examine the LDT cell type specific upstream nuclei. The LDT received very strong midbrain and hindbrain afferents and moderate cortical and hypothalamic innervation but weak connections to the thalamus. The main projection neurons from cortical areas were restricted to the limbic lobe, including the ventral orbital cortex(VO), prelimbic, and cingulate cortices. Although different cell populations received qualitatively similar inputs, primarily via afferents from the periaqueductal gray area, superior colliculus, and the LDT itself, parvalbumin-positive(PV?) GABAergic cells received preferential projections from local LDT neurons.With regard to the different subtypes of GABAergic cells, aconsiderable number of nuclei, including those of the ventral tegmental area, central amygdaloid nucleus, and VO, made significantly greater inputs to somatostatinpositive cells than to PV?cells.
