| 1 | Supercritical water oxidation of polyvinyl alcohol and desizing wastewater: Influence of NaOH on the organic decomposition显示文摘Polyvinyl alcohol is a refractory compound widely used in industry. Here we report supercritical water oxidation of polyvinyl alcohol solution and desizing wastewater with and without sodium hydroxide addition. However, it is difficult to implement complete degradation of organics even though polyvinyl alcohol can readily crack under supercritical water treatment. Sodium hydroxide had a significant catalytic effect during the supercritical water oxidation of polyvinyl alcohol. It appears that the OH ion participated in the C-C bond cleavage of polyvinyl alcohol molecules, the CO2-capture reaction and the neutralization of intermediate organic acids, promoting the overall reactions moving in the forward direction. Acetaldehyde was a typical intermediate product during reaction. For supercritical water oxidation of desizing wastewater, a high destruction rate (98.25%) based on total organic carbon was achieved. | 2 | All-optical manipulation of micrometer-sized metallic particles显示文摘Optical traps use focused laser beams to generate forces on targeted objects ranging in size from nanometers to micrometers. However, for their high coefficients of scattering and absorption, micrometer-sized metallic particles were deemed non-trappable in three dimensions using a single beam. This barrier is now removed. We demonstrate, both in theory and experiment, three-dimensional(3D) dynamic all-optical manipulations of micrometersized gold particles under high focusing conditions. The force of gravity is found to balance the positive axial optical force exerted on particles in an inverted optical tweezers system to form two trapping positions along the vertical direction. Both theoretical and experimental results confirm that stable 3D manipulations are achievable for these particles regardless of beam polarization and wavelength. | 3 | Enhancing plasmonic trapping with a perfect radially polarized beam显示文摘Strong plasmonic focal spots, excited by radially polarized light on a smooth thin metallic film, have been widely applied to trap various micro-and nano-sized objects. However, the direct transmission part of the incident light leads to the scattering force exerted on trapped particles, which seriously affects the stability of the plasmonic trap.Here we employ a novel perfect radially polarized beam to solve this problem. | 4 | Embryoid bodies formation and differentiation from mouse embryonic stem cells in collagen/Matrigel scaffolds显示文摘Embryonic stem (ES) cells have the potential to develop into any type of tissue and are considered as a promising source of seeding cells for tissue engineering and transplantation therapy.The main catalyst for ES cells differentiation is the growth into embryoid bodies (EBs),which are utilized widely as the trigger of in vitro differentiation.In this study,a novel method for generating EBs from mouse ES cells through culture in collagen/Matrigel scaffolds was successfully established.When single ES cells were seeded in three dimensional collagen/Matrigel scaffolds,they grew into aggregates gradually and formed simple EBs with circular structures.After 7 days' culture,they formed into cystic EBs that would eventually differentiate into the three embryonic germ layers.Evaluation of the EBs in terms of morphology and potential to differentiate indicated that they were typical in structure and could generate various cell types;they were also able to form into tissue-like structures.Moreover,with introduction of ascorbic acid,ES cells differentiated into cardiomyocytes efficiently and started contracting synchronously at day 19.The results demonstrated that collagen/Matrigel scaffolds supported EBs formation and their subsequent differentiation in a single three dimensional environment. | Jin Zhou Ye Zhang Qiuxia Lin Zhiqiang Liu Haibin Wang Cuimi Duan Yanmeng Wang Tong Hao Kmwu Wu Changyong Wang | 2010 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2010,37,7: | 4 |
| 5 | Speech Enhancement Using Multi-channel Post-Filtering with Modified Signal Presence Probability in Reverberant Environment显示文摘In this paper, a multi-channel post-filtering approach in reverberant environment based on detection and estimation scheme is presented. A modified Signal presence probability(SPP), which is in consideration of reverberation, is proposed with a novel estimator Direct-toreverberate ratio(DRR) to adapt to distant-talking scene.SPP is known a key estimator to instruct the updating of transient noise or residual directional interference and form gain function in the time-frequency domain, consequently a new desired signal detection scheme is proposed to improve its accuracy. Appropriate spectral enhancement technique is applied to the noisy speech signal taking advantage of the modified SPP estimator. The proposed multi-channel post-filtering is tested in different nonstationary noisy and reverberant environments. | 6 | Validation of Column-Averaged Dry-Air Mole Fraction of CO_2 Retrieved from OCO-2 Using Ground-Based FTS Measurements显示文摘In order to correctly use the column-averaged atmospheric CO_2 dry-air mole fraction(XCO_2) data in the CO_2 flux studies, XCO_2 measurements retrieved from the Orbiting Carbon Observatory-2(OCO-2) in 2015 were compared with those obtained from the global ground-based high-resolution Fourier Transform Spectrometer(FTS) participating in the Total Carbon Column Observing Network(TCCON). The XCO_2 retrieved from three observing modes adopted by OCO-2, i.e., nadir, target, and glint, were separately validated by the FTS measurements at up to eight TCCON stations located in different areas. These comparisons show that OCO-2 glint mode yields the best qualitative estimations of CO_2 concentration among the three operational approaches. The overall results regarding the glint mode show no obvious systematic biases. These facts may indicate that the glint concept is appropriate for not only oceans but also land regions. Negative systematic biases in nadir and target modes have been found at most TCCON sites. The standard deviations of XCO_2 retrieved from target and nadir modes within the observation period are similar, and larger than those from glint mode. We also used the FTS site in Beijing, China, to assess the OCO-2 XCO_2 in 2016. This site is located in a typical urban area, which has been absent in previous studies. Overall, OCO-2 XCO_2 agrees well with that from FTS at this site. | 7 | Multifunctional geometric phase optical element for high-efficiency full Stokes imaging polarimetry显示文摘Polarization imaging finds applications in many areas, such as photoelasticity, ellipsometry, and biomedical imaging. A compact, snapshot, and high-efficiency imaging polarimeter is highly desirable for many applications.Here, based on a single multifunctional geometric phase optical element(GPOE), a new method is proposed for high-efficiency snapshot imaging polarimetry. With tailored spatially varying orientation of each anisotropic unit cell, the GPOE works highly efficiently as both a spin sorter and a half-wave plate, enabling snapshot retrieving of a full Stokes vector of incident light. The designed GPOE is implemented in the form of liquid crystal fabricated with a photo-alignment technology, and its application in imaging polarimetry is experimentally demonstrated by retrieving full Stokes parameters of a cylinder vector beam. | 8 | Validation results of NmF2 and hmF2 derived from ionospheric density profiles of GNOS on FY-3C satellite显示文摘The first Global Navigation Satellite System Occultation Sounder(GNOS) which is compatible of both Bei Dou System(BDS)and Global Positioning System(GPS) was successfully launched into orbit onboard the Feng Yun 3 C satellite(FY-3 C) on September 23, 2013, and it has already gathered a large amount of ionosphere radio occultation(RO) data so far. However, the detailed analysis and validation of GPS ionosphere RO data have not been done up to now. Therefore, this paper discusses the configuration of the FY-3 C GNOS, the methods and results of GPS ionosphere occultation processment, the quality analysis of the GPS ionosphere RO products, and the precision consistency between the GNOS GPS ionosphere RO product and ionosonde data. The peak electron density(Nm F2) correlation coefficient is 0.97, the corresponding standard deviation is 16.08%. The peak value altitude(hm F2) correlation coefficient is 0.89, and the corresponding standard deviation is 23.79 km. | 10 | Fast CO_(2) Retrieval Using a Semi-Physical Statistical Model for the High-Resolution Spectrometer on the Fengyun-3D Satellite显示文摘China’s Fengyun-3D meteorological satellite launched in December 2016 carries the high-resolution greenhouse-gases absorption spectrometer(GAS)aimed at providing global observations of carbon dioxide(CO_(2)).To date,GAS is one of the few instruments measuring CO_(2) from the near-infrared spectrum.On orbit,the oxygen(O_(2))A band suffers a disturbance,and the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR)is significantly lower than the nominal specification.This leads to difficulties in the retrieval of surface pressure and hence a degradation of the retrieval of the column-averaged CO_(2) dry air mole fraction(XCO_(2))if a full physics retrieval algorithm is used.Thus,a fast CO_(2) inverse method,named semi-physical statistical algorithm,was developed to overcome this deficiency.The instrument characteristics,the semi-physical statistical algorithm,and the results of comparison with ground-based measurements over land were introduced in this paper.XCO_(2) can be obtained from three bands,namely,the O_(2) A,weak CO_(2),and strong CO_(2) bands,with compensation from the Medium Resolution Spectral Imager-2(MERSI-2)products,ECMWF Reanaly-sis v5(ERA-5)data,and Total Carbon Column Observing Network(TCCON)data.The eigenvectors of covariance matrices and the least square fits were used to derive retrieval coefficients and yield cloud-free solutions.In addition to the GAS radiance,some key factors necessary for the accurate estimations of XCO_(2) were also taken as input information(e.g.,air mass,surface pressure,and a priori XCO_(2)).The global GAS XCO_(2) restricted over land was compared against the simultaneously collocated observations from TCCON.The retrieval algorithm can mitigate the issue caused by the low SNR of the O_(2) A band to a certain extent.Overall,through site-by-site comparisons,GAS XCO_(2) agreed well with the average precision(1σ)of 1.52 ppm and bias of−0.007 ppm.The seasonal variation trends of GAS XCO_(2) can be clearly seen at TCCON sites on the 1-yr timescale. | Yanmeng BI Peng ZHANG Zhongdong YANG Qian WANG Xingying ZHANG Chengbao LIU Pengmei XU Lizhou HOU Junyu KE Naiqiang ZHANG | 2022 | Journal of Meteorological Research2022,36,2: | 2 |

| 19 | AKT2^(S128)/CCTα^(S315/319/323)-positive cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) mediate focal adhesion kinase (FAK) inhibitors resistance via secreting phosphatidylcholines (PCs)显示文摘Abnormal metabolism is regarded as an oncogenic hallmark related to tumor progression and therapeutic resistance.Present study employed multi-omics,including phosphoproteomics,untargeted metabolomics and lipidomics,to demonstrate that the pAKT2 Ser128 and pCCTαSer315/319/323-positive cancer-associated fibroblasts(CAFs)substantially release phosphatidylcholines(PCs),contributing to the resistance of focal adhesion kinase(FAK)inhibitors in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)treatment.Additionally,we observed extremely low levels of FAK Tyr397 expression in CAFs,potentially offering no available target for FAK inhibitors playing their anti-growth role in CAFs.Consequently,FAK inhibitor increased the intracellular concentration of Ca2+in CAFs,promoting the formation of AKT2/CCTαcomplex,leading to phosphorylation of CCTαSer315/319/323 sites and eventually enhancing stromal PC production.This activation could stimulate the intratumoral Janus kinase 2(JAK2)/Signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3)pathway,triggering resistance to FAK inhibition.Analysis of clinical samples demonstrated that stromal pAKT2 Ser128 and pCCTαSer315/319/323 are related to the tumor malignancy and reduced patient survival.Pseudo-targeted lipidomics and further validation cohort quantitatively showed that plasma PCs enable to distinguish the malignant extent of ESCC patients.In conclusion,inhibition of stroma-derived PCs and related pathway could be possible therapeutic strategies for tumor therapy. | Jie Chen Lingyuan Zhang Yuheng Zhu Di Zhao Jing Zhang Yanmeng Zhu Jingyuan Pang Yuanfan Xiao Qingnan Wu Yan Wang Qimin Zhan | 2024 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2024,9,2: | 0 |
