1Near-diffraction-limited linearly polarized narrow-linewidth random fiber laser with record kilowatt output显示文摘In this paper, we propose and experimentally investigate a linearly polarized narrow-linewidth random fiber laser(RFL) operating at 1080 nm and boost the output power to kilowatt level with near-diffraction-limited beam quality using a master oscillation power amplifier. The RFL based on a half-opened cavity, which is composed of a linearly polarized narrow-linewidth fiber Bragg grating and a 500 m piece of polarization-maintained Ge-doped fiber, generates a 0.71 W seed laser with an 88 pm full width at half-maximum(FWHM) linewidth and a 22.5 dB polarization extinction ratio(PER) for power scaling. A two-stage fiber amplifier enhances the seed laser to the maximal 1.01 k W with a PER value of 17 dB and a beam quality of M_x^2=1.15 and M_y^2=1.13. No stimulated Brillouin scattering effect is observed at the ultimate power level, and the FWHM linewidth of the amplified random laser broadens linearly as a function of the output power with a coefficient of about 0.1237 pm∕W.To the best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of a linearly polarized narrow-linewidth RFL with even kilowatt-level near-diffraction-limited output, and further performance scaling is ongoing.JIANGMING XU LONG HUANG MAN JIANG JUN YE PENGFEI MA JINYONG LENG JIAN WU HANWEI ZHANG PU ZHOU 2017Photonics Research2017,5,4:20
2Meiotic Chromosome Behavior in a Human Male t(8;15)Carrier显示文摘Reciprocal translocation is one of the most common structural chromosomal rearrangements in human beings;it is widely recognized to be associated with male infertility.This association is mainly based on the abnormal chromosome behavior of the translocated chromosomes and sex chromosomes during meiosis prophase I in reciprocal translocation carriers.However,the underlying mechanisms are not completely known.Here we report a reciprocal translocation carrier of t(8;15),who is oligozoospermic due to apoptosis of primary spermatocytes and to premature germ cell desquamation from seminiferous tubules.Further analysis showed abnormal synapsis and recombination frequency in this patient,indicating a connection between chromosome behavior and apoptosis of primary spermatocytes.We also compared these observations with recently reported findings on spermatogenesis defects in reciprocal translocation carriers,and discuss the possible mechanisms underlying bom common and unique phenotypes of reciprocal translocations involving different chromosomes with the aim of further understanding the regulation of human spermatogenesis.Hanwei Jiang Liu Wang Yingxia Cui Zhipeng Xu Tonghang Guo Dongkai Cheng Peng Xu Wen Yu Qinghua Shi 2014Journal of Genetics and Genomics2014,41,3:2

4Chirality Enhancement Using Fabry-Pérot-Like Cavity显示文摘Chiral molecules that do not superimpose on their mirror images are the foundation of all life forms on earth.Chiral molecules exhibit chiroptical responses,i.e.,they have different electromagnetic responses to light of different circular polarizations.However,chiroptical responses in natural materials,such as circular dichroism and optical rotation dispersion,are intrinsically small because the size of a chiral molecule is significantly shorter than the wavelength of electromagnetic wave.Conventional technology for enhancing chiroptical signal entails demanding requirements on precise alignment of the chiral molecules to certain nanostructures,which however only leads to a limited performance.Herein,we show a new approach towards enhancement of chiroptical effects through a Fabry-Pérot(FP)cavity formed by two handedness-preserving metamirrors operating in the GHz region.We experimentally show that the FP cavity resonator can enhance the optical activity of the chiral molecule by an order of magnitude.Our approach may pave the way towards state-of-the-art chiral sensing applications.Jiaxin Bao Ning Liu Hanwei Tian Qiang Wang Tiejun Cui Weixiang Jiang Shuang Zhang Tun Cao 2020Research2020,,1:1
5Effect of random phase error and baseline roll angle error on eddy identification by interferometric imaging altimeter显示文摘To achieve better observation for sea surface,a new generation of wide-swath interferometric altimeter satellites is proposed.Before satellite launch,it is particularly important to study the data processing methods and carry out the detailed error analysis of ocean satellites,because it is directly related to the ultimate ability of satellites to capture ocean information.For this purpose,ocean eddies are considered a specific case of ocean signals,and it can cause significant changes in sea surface elevation.It is suitable for theoretical simulation of the sea surface and systematic simulation of the altimeter.We analyzed the impacts of random error and baseline error on the sea surface and ocean signals and proposed a combined strategy of low-pass filtering,empirical orthogonal function(EOF)decomposition,and linear fitting to remove the errors.Through this strategy,sea surface anomalies caused by errors were considerably improved,and the capability of satellite for capturing ocean information was enhanced.Notably,we found that the baseline error in sea surface height data was likely to cause inaccuracy in eddy boundary detection,as well as false eddy detection.These abnormalities could be prevented for'clean'sea surface height after the errors removal.Le GAO Hanwei SUN Jifeng QI Qiufu JIANG 2022Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2022,40,5:0
