1A Domestication-Associated Gene GmPRR3b Regulates the Circadian Clock and Flowering Time in Soybean显示文摘Improved soybean cultivars have been adapted to grow at a wide range of latitudes,enabling expansion of cultivation worldwide.However,the genetic basis of this broad adaptation is still not clear.Here,we report the identification of GmPRR3b as a major flowering time regulatory gene that has been selected during domestication and genetic improvement for geographic expansion.Through a genome-wide association study of a diverse soybean landrace panel consisting of 279 accessions,we identified 16 candidate quantitative loci associated with flowering time and maturity time.The strongest signal resides in the known flowering gene E2,verifying the effectiveness of our approach.We detected strong signals associated with both flowering and maturity time in a genomic region containing GmPRR3b.Haplotype analysis revealed that GmPRR3bH6 is the major form of GmPRR3b that has been utilized during recent breeding of modern cultivars.mRNA profiling analysis showed that GmPRR3bH6 displays rhythmic and photoperiod-dependent expression and is preferentially induced under long-day conditions.Overexpression of GmPRR3bH6 increased main stem node number and yield,while knockout of GmPRR3bH6 using CRISPR/Cas9 technology delayed growth and the floral transition.GmPRR3bH6 appears to act as a transcriptional repressor of multiple predicted circadian clock genes,including GmCCAIa,which directly upregulates J/GmELF3a to modulate flowering time.The causal SNP(Chr12:5520945)likely endows GmPRR3bH6 a moderate but appropriate level of activity,leading to early flowering and vigorous growth traits preferentially selected during broad adaptation of landraces and improvement of cultivars.Cong Li Ying-hui Li Yanfei Li Hongfeng Lu Huilong Hong Yu Tian Hongyu Li Tao Zhao Xiaowei Zhou Jun Liu Xinan Zhou Scott A.Jackson Bin Liu Li-juan Qiu 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,5:11
2Resequencing of 145 Landmark Cultivars Reveals Asymmetric Sub-genome Selection and Strong Founder Genotype Effects on Wheat Breeding in China显示文摘Controlled pedigrees and the multi-decade timescale of national crop plant breeding programs offer a unique experimental context for examining how selection affects plant genomes.More than 3000 wheat cultivars have been registered,released,and documented since 1949 in China.In this study,a set of 145 elite cultivars selected from historical points of wheat breeding in China were re-sequenced.A total of 43.75 Tb of sequence data were generated with an average read depth of 17.94x for each cultivar,and more than 60.92 million SNPs and 2.54 million InDels were captured,based on the Chinese Spring RefSeq genome v1.0.Seventy years of breeder-driven selection led to dramatic changes in grain yield and related phenotypes,with distinct genomic regions and phenotypes tar-geted by different breeders across the decades.There are very clear instances illustrating how introduced Italian and otherforeign germplasm was integrated into Chinese wheat programs and reshaped the genomic landscape of local modern cultivars.Importantly,the resequencing data also highlighted significant asymmetric breeding selec-tion among the three sub-genomes:this was evident in both the collinear blocks for homeologous chromosomes and among sets of three homeologous genes.Accumulation of more newly assembled genes in newer cultivars implied the potential value of these genes in breeding.Conserved and extended sharing of linkage disequilibrium(LD)blocks was highlighted among pedigree-related cultivars,in which fewer haplotype differences were detected.Fixation or replacement of haplotypes from founder genotypes after generations of breeding was related to their breeding value.Based on the haplotype frequency changes in LD blocks of pedigree-related cultivars,we propose a strategy for evaluating the breeding value of any given line on the basis of the accumulation(pyramiding)of bene-ficial haplotypes.Collectively,our study demonstrates the influence of 'founder genotypes' on the output of breeding efforts over many decades and also suggests that founder genotype perspectives are in fact more dy-namic when applied in the context of modern genomics-informed breeding.Chenyang Hao Chengzhi Jiao Jian Hou Tian Li Hongxia Liu Yuquan Wang Jun Zheng Hong Liu Zhihong Bi Fengfeng Xu Jing Zhao Lin Ma Yamei Wang Uzma Majeed Xu Liu Rudi Appels Marco Maccaferri Roberto Tuberosa Hongfeng Lu Xueyong Zhang 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,12:9

4Less and shrunken pollen 1(LSP1) encodes a member of the ABC transporter family required for pollen wall development in rice(Oryza sativa L.)显示文摘Pollen fertility is an agronomic trait that strongly influences rice yield. Recent studies have revealed that the development of the pollen wall is required for pollen fertility and is regulated by several genes. However, the mechanisms underlying pollen and pollen wall development in rice remain largely unknown. In the present study, a point mutation in a gene on chromosome 1 was identified that resulted in the production of less and shrunken pollen(LSP) and led to defects in pollen wall formation. This gene was named LSP1 and was found to encode a member of the adenosine triphosphate-binding cassette(ABC)transporter G subfamily, OsABCG3. Two other loss-of-function mutants of LSP1/OsABCG3,generated using CRISPR/Cas9 technology, showed the same male sterile phenotype. The LSP1/OsABCG3 gene showed a spatio-temporal expression pattern in the developing anthers, and is an ortholog of the Arabidopsis genes At ABCG1 and At ABCG16, which play an important role in pollen wall development. Mutation of LSP1/OsABCG3 affected the expression of several genes involved in pollen and pollen wall formation. 5Distribution pattern of endangered bird species in China显示文摘In this study,we determined six“hotspots”for avian biodiversity conservation in China.We analyzed the distribution patterns of 183 threatened bird species in China in conjunction with geographical data to produce a distribution map that shows the concentrations of threatened species.The six biodiversity hotspots are:the western Tianshan Mountains;the Qilian and Hengduan mountains;southern Anhui,southern Jiangsu,and the Zhejiang Hills;the Songliao Plain and the northern region of the North China Plain;the island of Taiwan;and the island of Hainan.Based on our analysis of a species–habitat matrix,species were determined to be distributed mainly in broadleaved forest,grassland and meadows,urban and agricultural areas,wetlands,and bush.Most species were commonly found to have a range of three to five different habitat types.Apart from the six biodiversity hotspots,six ecological clusters were determined.Protection strategies indicating different levels of habitat priority among the biodiversity hotspots were also recommended.Fumin LEI Hongfeng ZHAO Zuohua YIN 2006Integrative Zoology2006,1,4:4
6Chromosome-scale assembly of the Dendrobium chrysotoxum genome enhances the understanding of orchid evolution显示文摘As one of the largest families of angiosperms,the Orchidaceae family is diverse.Dendrobium represents the second largest genus of the Orchidaceae.However,an assembled high-quality genome of species in this genus is lacking.Here,we report a chromosome-scale reference genome of Dendrobium chrysotoxum,an important ornamental and medicinal orchid species.The assembled genome size of D.chrysotoxum was 1.37 Gb,with a contig N50 value of 1.54 Mb.Of the sequences,95.75%were anchored to 19 pseudochromosomes.There were 30,044 genes predicted in the D.chrysotoxum genome.Two whole-genome polyploidization events occurred in D.chrysotoxum.In terms of the second event,whole-genome duplication(WGD)was also found to have occurred in other Orchidaceae members,which diverged mainly via gene loss immediately after the WGD event occurred;the first duplication was found to have occurred in most monocots(tau event).We identified sugar transporter(SWEET)gene family expansion,which might be related to the abundant medicinal compounds and fleshy stems of D.chrysotoxum.MADS-box genes were identified in D.chrysotoxum,as well as members of TPS and Hsp90 gene families,which are associated with resistance,which may contribute to the adaptive evolution of orchids.We also investigated the interplay among carotenoid,ABA,and ethylene biosynthesis in D.chrysotoxum to elucidate the regulatory mechanisms of the short flowering period of orchids with yellow flowers.The reference D.chrysotoxum genome will provide important insights for further research on medicinal active ingredients and breeding and enhances the understanding of orchid evolution.Yongxia Zhang Guo-Qiang Zhang Diyang Zhang Xue-Die Liu Xin-Yu Xu Wei-Hong Sun Xia Yu Xiaoen Zhu Zhi-Wen Wang Xiang Zhao Wen-Ying Zhong Hongfeng Chen Wei-Lun Yin Tengbo Huang Shan-Ce Niu Zhong-Jian Liu 2021Horticulture Research2021,8,1:3
7Measurement and Scaling of Mercury on Soil and Air in a Historical Artisanal Gold Mining Area in Northeastern China显示文摘The Jiapigou gold mine area, located in the upper reaches of the Songhua River, was the first and largest artisanal gold mine once in China, and it used to be prominent in two marking years(1870 and 1974). Jiapigou area had a gold mining history of more than 190 years, which was first opened in 1820. Gold extraction with algamation was applied as the dominant method of excavation from 1940 to 2008, and a total of more than 100 t of gold were extracted from the mine using this method and it was estimated that 100–200 t Hg were released, thus causing severe mercury environmental pollution in the mining area. In the experimental campaigns of this study, in situ air and soil Hg concentrations and air-soil Hg fluxes were measured from April 2009 to December 2011. The results showed that in the study area the total gaseous mercury(TGM) concentration exhibited remarkable spatial and temporal distribution patterns, i.e. the TGM gradually decreased following the increase in distance to gold mining sites in space, and the values in spring, summer and autumn were elevated by 1–2 orders of magnitude in comparison with those in winter. Furthermore, at other sampling sites the total soil mercury(TSM) concentration in spring was higher than that in autumn, except for the contrary laws demonstrated at the Erdaogou mining site. However, in spring and winter the Hg flux between air and soil was under the control of different environmental factors, and the characteristics were clear and distinct. In spring the Hg flux between air and soil was directly under the control of solar irradiation, and the releasing process was predominant with a remarkable positive correlation to solar irradiation. Nevertheless, in winter the Hg fluxes were indirectly under the control of solar irradiation, which caused thermal inversion due to the thick snow cover. 8Integration of satellite remote sensing data in underground coal fire detection:A case study of the Fukang region,Xinjiang,China显示文摘Xinjiang in China is one of the areas worst affected by coal fires.Coal fires cannot only waste a large amount of natural resources and cause serious economic losses,but they also cause huge damage to the atmosphere,the soil,the surrounding geology,and the environment.Therefore,there is an urgent need to effectively explore remote sensing based detection of coal fires for timely understanding of their latest development trend.In this study,in order to investigate the distribution of coal fires in an accurate and reliable manner,we exploited both Landsat-8 optical data and Sentinel-1A synthetic aperture radar(SAR)images,using the generalized single-channel algorithm and the InSAR time-series analysis approach,respectively,for coal fire detection in the southern part of the Fukang region of Xinjiang,China.The generalized single-channel algorithm was used for land surface temperature information extraction.Meanwhile,the timeseries InSAR analysis technology was employed for estimating the surface micro deformation information,which was then used for building a band-pass filter.The suspected coal fire locations could then be established by a band-pass filtering operation on the obtained surface temperature map.Finally,the locations of the suspected coal fires were validated by the use of field survey data.The results indicate that the integration of thermal infrared remote sensing and radar interferometry technologies is an efficient investigation approach for coal fire detection in a large-scale region,which would provide the necessary spatial information support for the survey and control of coal fires.Shiyong YAN Ke SHI Yi LI Jinglong LIU Hongfeng ZHAO 2020Frontiers of Earth Science2020,14,1:2
9Rapid phenotypic evolution with shallow genomic differentiation during early stages of high elevation adaptation in Eurasian Tree Sparrows显示文摘Known as the‘third polar region’,the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau represents one of the harshest highland environments in the world and yet a number of organisms thrive there.Previous studies of birds,animals and humans have focused on well-differentiated populations in later stages of phenotypic divergence.The adaptive processes during the initial phase of highland adaptation remain poorly understood.We studied a human commensal,the Eurasian Tree Sparrow,which has followed human agriculture to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.Despite strong phenotypic differentiation at multiple levels,in particular in muscle-related phenotypes,highland and lowland populations show shallow genomic divergence and the colonization event occurred within the past few thousand years.In a one-month acclimation experiment investigating phenotypic plasticity,we exposed adult lowland tree sparrows to a hypoxic environment and did not observe muscle changes.Through population genetic analyses,we identified a signature of polygenic adaptation,whereby shifts in allele frequencies are spread across multiple loci,many of which are associated with muscle-related processes.Our results reveal a case of positive selection in which polygenic adaptation appears to drive rapid phenotypic evolution,shedding light on early stages of adaptive evolution to a novel environment.Yanhua Qu Chunhai Chen Ying Xiong Huishang She Yong E Zhang Yalin Cheng Shane DuBay Dongming Li Per G P Ericson Yan Hao Hongyuan Wang Hongfeng Zhao Gang Song Hailin Zhang Ting Yang Chi Zhang Liping Liang Tianyu Wu Jinyang Zhao Qiang Gao Weiwei Zhai Fumin Lei 2020National Science Review2020,7,1:2

12The 9L^(LUC)/Wistar rat glioma model is not suitable for immunotherapy显示文摘The availability of a well-characterized animal brain tumor model will play an important role in identifying treatments for human brain tumors. Wistar rats bearing 9L glioma cells can develop solid, well-circumcised tumors, and may be a useful animal model for the evaluation of various therapeutic approaches for gliosarcomas. In this study, the 9L/Wistar rat glioma model was produced by intracerebral implantation of 9LLUC glioma cells syngenic to Fischer 344 (F344) rats. Bioluminescence imaging showed that tumors progressively grew from day 7 to day 21 in 9LLUC/F344 rats, and tumor regression was found in some 9LLUC/Wistar rats. Hematoxylin-eosin staining verified that intracranial tumors were gliomas. Immunohistochemistry results demonstrated that no CD4- and CD8-positive cells were found in the syngeneic 9LLUC/F344 model. However, many infiltrating CD4- and CD8-positive cells were observed within the tumors of the 9LLUC/Wistar model. 17Extraordinary high-temperature mechanical properties in binder-free nanopolycrystalline WC ceramic显示文摘From the perspective of high-temperature applications,materials with excellent high-temperature mechanical properties are always desirable.The present work demonstrates that the binder-free nanopolycrystalline WC ceramic with an average grain size of 103 nm obtained by high-pressure and hightemperature sintering exhibits excellent mechanical properties at both room temperature and high temperature up to 1000℃.Specifically,the binder-free nanopolycrystalline WC ceramic still maintains a considerably high Vicker hardness H_(V)of 23.4 GPa at 1000℃,which is only 22%lower than the room temperature H_(V).This outstanding thermo-mechanical stability is superior to that of typical technical ceramics,e.g.SiC,Si_(3)N_(4),Al_(2)O_(3),etc.Nanocrystalline grains with many dislocations,numerous low-energy,highly stableΣ2 grain boundaries,and a relatively low thermal expansion coefficient,are responsible for the observed outstanding high-temperature mechanical properties.Hongfeng Dong Baozhong Li BoBo Liu Yang Zhang Lei Sun Kun Luo Yingju Wu Mengdong Ma Bing Liu Wentao Hu Julong He Dongli Yu Bo Xu Zhisheng Zhao Yongjun Tian 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,2:1
18Magnetization-induced double-layer capacitance enhancement in active carbon/Fe_3O_4 nanocomposites显示文摘The effects of magnetic fields on electrochemical processes have made a great impact on both theoretical and practical significances in improving capacitor performance. In this study, active carbon/Fe3O4-NPs nanocomposites(AC/Fe3O4-NPs) were synthesized using a facile hydrothermal method and ultrasonic technique. Transmission electron micrographs(TEM) showed that Fe3O4nanoparticles(Fe3O4-NPs) grew along the edge of AC. AC/Fe3O4-NPs nanocomposites were further used as an electrochemical electrode, and its electrochemical performance was tested under magnetization and non-magnetization conditions, respectively, in a three-electrode electrochemical device. Micro-magnetic field could improve the electric double-layer capacitance, reduce the charge transfer resistance, and enhance the discharge performance. 20Synthesis of Nafion^(■)-stabilized Pt nanoparticles to improve the durability of proton exchange membrane fuel cell显示文摘Nafion-stabilized Pt nanoparticle colloidal solution is synthesized through ethylene glycol reduction.Pt/Nafion added with carbon black as electric conduction material(labeled Pt/Nafion-XC72) shows excellent electrochemical property compared with Pt/C.After a 300-cycle discharging durability test,the cell performance of membrane electrode assembly(MEA) with the Pt/Nafion-XC72 and Pt/C catalysts indicates a 29.9% and 92.2% decrease,respectively.The charge transfer resistances of Pt/Nafion-XC72 and Pt/C increase by 27.2% and 101.9%,respectively.The remaining electrochemically active surface area of Pt is about 61.7% in Pt/Nafion-XC72 and about 38.1% in Pt/C after the durability test.The particle size of Pt/C increases from about 5.1 nm to about 10.8 nm but only from 3.6 nm to 5.8 nm in the case of Pt/Nafion-XC72.These data suggest that Pt/Nafion-XC72 as a catalyst can enhance the durability of PEMFCs compared with Pt/C.Xin Sun Hongfeng Xu Quanren Zhu Lu Lu Hong Zhao 2015Journal of Energy Chemistry2015,24,3:1
