| 1 | Carbon pools and fluxes in the China Seas and adjacent oceans显示文摘The China Seas include the South China Sea, East China Sea, Yellow Sea, and Bohai Sea. Located off the Northwestern Pacific margin, covering 4700000 km^2 from tropical to northern temperate zones, and including a variety of continental margins/basins and depths, the China Seas provide typical cases for carbon budget studies. The South China Sea being a deep basin and part of the Western Pacific Warm Pool is characterized by oceanic features; the East China Sea with a wide continental shelf, enormous terrestrial discharges and open margins to the West Pacific, is featured by strong cross-shelf materials transport; the Yellow Sea is featured by the confluence of cold and warm waters; and the Bohai Sea is a shallow semiclosed gulf with strong impacts of human activities. Three large rivers, the Yangtze River, Yellow River, and Pearl River, flow into the East China Sea, the Bohai Sea, and the South China Sea, respectively. The Kuroshio Current at the outer margin of the Chinese continental shelf is one of the two major western boundary currents of the world oceans and its strength and position directly affect the regional climate of China. These characteristics make the China Seas a typical case of marginal seas to study carbon storage and fluxes. This paper systematically analyzes the literature data on the carbon pools and fluxes of the Bohai Sea,Yellow Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea, including different interfaces(land-sea, sea-air, sediment-water, and marginal sea-open ocean) and different ecosystems(mangroves, wetland, seagrass beds, macroalgae mariculture, coral reefs, euphotic zones, and water column). Among the four seas, the Bohai Sea and South China Sea are acting as CO_2 sources, releasing about0.22 and 13.86–33.60 Tg C yr^(-1) into the atmosphere, respectively, whereas the Yellow Sea and East China Sea are acting as carbon sinks, absorbing about 1.15 and 6.92–23.30 Tg C yr^(-1) of atmospheric CO_2, respectively. Overall, if only the CO_2 exchange at the sea-air interface is considered, the Chinese marginal seas appear to be a source of atmospheric CO_2, with a net release of 6.01–9.33 Tg C yr^(-1), mainly from the inputs of rivers and adjacent oceans. The riverine dissolved inorganic carbon (DIC) input into the Bohai Sea and Yellow Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea are 5.04, 14.60, and 40.14 Tg C yr^(-1),respectively. The DIC input from adjacent oceans is as high as 144.81 Tg C yr^(-1), significantly exceeding the carbon released from the seas to the atmosphere. In terms of output, the depositional fluxes of organic carbon in the Bohai Sea, Yellow Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea are 2.00, 3.60, 7.40, and 5.92 Tg C yr^(-1), respectively. The fluxes of organic carbon from the East China Sea and South China Sea to the adjacent oceans are 15.25–36.70 and 43.93 Tg C yr^(-1), respectively. The annual carbon storage of mangroves, wetlands, and seagrass in Chinese coastal waters is 0.36–1.75 Tg C yr^(-1), with a dissolved organic carbon(DOC) output from seagrass beds of up to 0.59 Tg C yr^(-1). Removable organic carbon flux by Chinese macroalgae mariculture account for 0.68 Tg C yr^(-1) and the associated POC depositional and DOC releasing fluxes are 0.14 and 0.82 Tg C yr^(-1), respectively. Thus, in total, the annual output of organic carbon, which is mainly DOC, in the China Seas is 81.72–104.56 Tg C yr^(-1). The DOC efflux from the East China Sea to the adjacent oceans is 15.00–35.00 Tg C yr^(-1). The DOC efflux from the South China Sea is 31.39 Tg C yr^(-1). | 2 | Laser-driven programmable non-contact transfer printing of objects onto arbitrary receivers via an active elastomeric microstructured stamp显示文摘Transfer printing, as an important assembly technique, has attracted much attention due to its valuable merits to develop novel forms of electronics such as stretchable inorganic electronics requiring the heterogeneous integration of inorganic materials with soft elastomers. Here, we report on a laser-driven programmable non-contact transfer printing technique via a simple yet robust design of active elastomeric microstructured stamp that features cavities filled with air and embedded under the contacting surface, a micro-patterned surface membrane that encapsulates the air cavities and a metal layer on the inner-cavity surfaces serving as the laser-absorbing layer. The micro-patterned surface membrane can be inflated dynamically to control the interfacial adhesion, which can be switched from strong state to weak state by more than three orders of magnitude by local laser heating of the air in the cavity with a temperature increase below 100℃. Theoretical and experimental studies reveal the fundamental aspects of the design and fabrication of the active elastomeric microstructured stamp and the operation of non-contact transfer printing. | 3 | Biomimetic injectable hydrogel microspheres with enhanced lubrication and controllable drug release for the treatment of osteoarthritis显示文摘The occurrence of osteoarthritis(OA)is highly associated with the reduced lubrication property of the joint,where a progressive and irreversible damage of the articular cartilage and consecutive inflammatory response dominate the mechanism.In this study,bioinspired by the super-lubrication property of cartilage and catecholamine chemistry of mussel,we successfully developed injectable hydrogel microspheres with enhanced lubrication and controllable drug release for OA treatment.Particularly,the lubricating microspheres(GelMA@DMA-MPC)were fabricated by dip coating a self-adhesive polymer(DMA-MPC,synthesized by free radical copolymerization)on superficial surface of photo-crosslinked methacrylate gelatin hydrogel microspheres(GelMA,prepared via microfluidic technology),and encapsulated with an anti-inflammatory drug of diclofenac sodium(DS)to achieve the dual-functional performance.The tribological test and drug release test showed the enhanced lubrication and sustained drug release of the GelMA@DMA-MPC microspheres.In addition,the functionalized microspheres were intra-articularly injected into the rat knee joint with an OA model,and the biological tests including qRT-PCR,immunofluorescence staining assay,X-ray radiography and histological staining assay all revealed that the biocompatible microspheres provided significant therapeutic effect against the development of OA.In summary,the injectable hydrogel microspheres developed herein greatly improved lubrication and achieved sustained local drug release,therefore representing a facile and promising technique for the treatment of OA. | Ying Han Jielai Yang Weiwei Zhao Haimang Wang Yulong Sun Yuji Chen Jing Luo Lianfu Deng Xiangyang Xu Wenguo Cui Hongyu Zhang | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,10: | 8 |
| 4 | Landslide identification using machine learning显示文摘Landslide identification is critical for risk assessment and mitigation.This paper proposes a novel machinelearning and deep-learning method to identify natural-terrain landslides using integrated geodatabases.First,landslide-related data are compiled,including topographic data,geological data and rainfall-related data.Then,three integrated geodatabases are established;namely,Recent Landslide Database(Rec LD),Relict Landslide Database(Rel LD)and Joint Landslide Database(JLD).After that,five machine learning and deep learning algorithms,including logistic regression(LR),support vector machine(SVM),random forest(RF),boosting methods and convolutional neural network(CNN),are utilized and evaluated on each database.A case study in Lantau,Hong Kong,is conducted to demonstrate the application of the proposed method.From the results of the case study,CNN achieves an identification accuracy of 92.5%on Rec LD,and outperforms other algorithms due to its strengths in feature extraction and multi dimensional data processing.Boosting methods come second in terms of accuracy,followed by RF,LR and SVM.By using machine learning and deep learning techniques,the proposed landslide identification method shows outstanding robustness and great potential in tackling the landslide identification problem. | Haojie Wang Limin Zhang Kesheng Yin Hongyu Luo Jinhui Li | 2021 | Geoscience Frontiers2021,12,1: | 8 |

| 6 | Antimonene:a long-term stable two-dimensional saturable absorption material under ambient conditions for the mid-infrared spectral region显示文摘We experimentally demonstrate a long-term stable two-dimensional saturable absorption material under ambient conditions—multi-layer antimonene feasible for the mid-infrared spectral region—for the first time to our knowledge. The multi-layer antimonene material prepared using a liquid-phase exfoliation method was coated on a quartz/Ca F_2 for characterizations and an Au mirror as a reflection-type saturable absorber(SA) device. It has a modulation depth of 10.5%, a saturation peak intensity of 0.26 GW∕cm^2, and a non-saturation loss of 19.1% measured at 2868.0 nm using the typical power-dependent method. By introducing the SA device into a linear-cavity Ho^(3+)∕ Pr^(3+)-codoped fluoride fiber laser at 2865.0 nm, stable Q-switched pulses were obtained. It generated a maximum output power of 112.3 m W and pulse energy of 0.72 μJ, while the shortest pulse duration and largest repetition rate were 1.74 μs and 156.2 k Hz, respectively. The long-term stability of the SA device was also checked using the same laser setup within 28 days. | 7 | Kelly sideband suppression and wavelength tuning of a conventional soliton in a Tm-doped hybrid mode-locked fiber laser with an all-fiber Lyot filter显示文摘We demonstrate a stable conventional soliton in a Tm-doped hybrid mode-locked fiber laser by employing a homemade all-fiber Lyot filter(AFLF) and a single-wall carbon nanotube. The AFLF, designed by sandwiching a piece of polarization-maintained fiber(PMF) with two 45° tilted fiber gratings inscribed by a UV laser in PMF with a phase-mask scanning technique, shows large filter depth of ~9 d B and small insertion loss of ~0.8 dB. By optimizing the free spectral range of the AFLF, the Kelly sidebands of a conventional soliton centered at1966.4 nm can be dramatically suppressed without impairing the main shape of the soliton spectrum. It gives the pulse duration of 1.18 ps and bandwidth of 3.8 nm. | 12 | Effect of Lamb Age and in vitro Culture System of Oocytes on JIVET Technology显示文摘[Objectives] This study was conducted to investigate the effects of lamb age and in vitro culture system of oocytes on the results of juvenile in vitro embryo transfer( JIVET). [Methods]Ten Dorper × small-tailed Han lambs aged 5 to 10 weeks were induced to superovulate via i. p. injection of pregnant mare's serum gonadotropin( PMSG). The oocytes were matured in basal maturation solution or modified maturation solution,which was prepared by adding 200 μmol/L cysteine to the basal maturation solution. Then,the oocytes were fertilized in fertilization medium I containing 2% estrus sheep serum( ESS) or fertilization medium II containing 3 mg/ml bull serum albumin( BSA). Finally,the number of oocytes,oocyte maturation rate and cleavage rate of the lambs of different ages were determined. [Results]The average number of oocytes recovered per lamb was( 111. 00 ± 16. 97),( 139. 50 ± 28. 99),( 108. 50 ± 17. 68) and( 42. 00 ± 11. 31) for5-,7-,8-and 10-week-old Dorper × small-tailed Han lambs,respectively. The number of oocytes obtained from 5-,7-and 8-week-old lambs was significantly higher than that from 10-week-old lambs( P < 0. 05),but there was no significant difference among 5-,7-and 8-week-old lambs( P > 0. 05). The maturation rate of oocytes cultured in modified maturation solution was 3. 64% higher than that in basal maturation solution. The cleavage rate of oocytes in fertilization medium I was very significantly higher than that in fertilization medium II( P < 0. 01). | 13 | Ginsenoside Rb1 Reduces D-GalN/LPS-induced Acute Liver Injury by Regulating TLR4/NF-κB Signaling and NLRP3 Inflammasome显示文摘Background and Aims:The effect of ginsenoside Rb1 on D-galactosamine(D-GalN)/lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced acute liver injury(ALI)is unknown.The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of ginsenoside Rb1 on ALI and its underlying mechanisms.Methods:Mice were pretreated with ginsenoside Rb1 by intraperitoneal injection for 3 days before D-GalN/LPS treatment,to induce ALI.The survival rate was monitored every hour for 24 h,and serum biochemical parameters,hepatic index and histopathological analysis were evaluated to measure the degree of liver injury.ELISA was used to detect oxidative stress and inflammatory cytokines in hepatic tissue and serum.Immunohistochemistry staining,RT-PCR and western blotting were performed to evaluate the expression of toll-like receptor 4(TLR4),nuclear factorkappa B(NF-κB),and NLR family,pyrin domain-containing 3 protein(NLRP3)in liver tissue and Kupffer cells(KCs).Results:Ginsenoside Rb1 improved survival with D-GalN/LPS-induced ALI by up to 80%,significantly ameliorated the increased alanine and aspartate transaminase,restored the hepatic pathological changes and reduced the levels of oxidative stress and inflammatory cytokines altered by D-GalN/LPS.Compared to the control group,the KCs were increased in the D-GalN/LPS groups but did not increase significantly with Rb1 pretreatment.D-GalN/LPS could upregulate while Rb1 pretreatment could downregulate the expression of interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-18,NLRP3,apoptosis associated specklike protein containing CARD(ASC)and caspase-1 in isolated KCs.Furthermore,ginsenoside Rb1 inhibited activation of the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway and NLRP3 inflammasome induced by D-GalN/LPS administration.Conclusions:Ginsenoside Rb1 protects mice against D-GalN/LPS-induced ALI by attenuating oxidative stress and the inflammatory response through the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway and NLRP3 inflammasome activation. | Yimei Liu Ninghua Liu Yujing Liu Hongyu He Zhe Luo Wenjun Liu Nan Song Minjie Ju | 2022 | Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2022,10,3: | 2 |
| 14 | Highly stable, active and recyclable solid acid catalyst based on polymer-coated magnetic composite particles显示文摘A facile approach has been adopted for coating cross-linked polystyrene(PS) shells on the surface of Fe304 magnetic clusters using reflux-precipitation polymerization(RPP).Treating the PS shell with chlorosulfonic acid yields magnetic composite particles with acid functionality.By adjusting the amount and proportion of monomers(styrene and divinylbenzene),the obtained magnetic composite particle solid acid(MPM-5 S) exhibits a saturation magnetization value of 18 emu/g,a specific surface area of 243 m^2/g and an acid density of 2.113 mmol/g.The MPM-5 S magnetic solid acid catalyst was evaluated for esterification of oleic acid with methanol to prepare biodiesel.Under mild conditions,the conversion of oleic acid reached 91%,which was much higher than the catalytic activity of Amberlyst-15 and close to the catalytic activity of concentrated H2 SO4.The solid acid catalyst can be recovered by magnetic separation and reused three times maintaining over 95% of its initial catalytic activity.Additionally,the solid acid can be used to catalyze the dehydration of fructose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural. | Jianxin Luo Xucheng Zhang Chunyan Zhang Tao Wang Xue Chen Hongyu Chen Steve King Changchun Wang | 2019 | Chinese Chemical Letters2019,30,12: | 2 |

| 16 | A chromosome-scale genome assembly of Artemisia argyi reveals unbiased subgenome evolution and key contributions of gene duplication to volatile terpenoid diversity显示文摘Artemisia argyi Le´vl.et Vant.,a perennial Artemisia herb with an intense fragrance,is widely used in traditional medicine in China and many other Asian countries.Here,we present a chromosome-scale genome assembly of A.argyi comprising 3.89 Gb assembled into 17 pseudochromosomes.Phylogenetic and comparative genomic analyses revealed that A.argyi underwent a recent lineage-specificwhole-genomeduplication(WGD)event after divergence fromArtemisia annua,resulting in two subgenomes.Wedeciphered the diploid ancestral genome of A.argyi,and unbiased subgenome evolution was observed.The recent WGD led to a large number of duplicated genes in the A.argyi genome.Expansion of the terpene synthase(TPS)gene family through various types of gene duplication may have greatly contributed to the diversity of volatile terpenoids in A.argyi.In particular,we identified a typical germacrene D synthase gene cluster within the expanded TPS gene family.The entire biosynthetic pathways of germacrenes,(+)-borneol,and(+)-camphor were elucidated in A.argyi.In addition,partial deletion of the amorpha-4,11-diene synthase(ADS)gene and loss of function of ADS homologs may have resulted in the lack of artemisinin production in A.argyi.Our study provides newinsights into the genome evolution of Artemisia and lays a foundation for further improvement of the quality of this important medicinal plant. | Hongyu Chen Miaoxian Guo Shuting Dong Xinling Wu Guobin Zhang Liu He Yuannian Jiao Shilin Chen Li Li Hongmei Luo | 2023 | Plant Communications2023,4,3: | 2 |

| 20 | Biodegradable lubricating mesoporous silica nanoparticles for osteoarthritis therapy显示文摘Osteoarthritis is characterized by lubrication failure of the articular cartilage and severe inflammation of the joint capsule.Lubricating mesoporous silica nanoparticles(MSNs)have been developed for the treatment of osteoarthritis based on enhanced lubrication and local drug delivery.However,MSNs are difficult to degrade in vivo in a short time,resulting in potential toxic effect due to bioaccumulation.In this study,biodegradable MSNs(bMSNs)were prepared through an oil–water biphase stratification method,and modified with poly(2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphocholine)(PMPC)to synthesize lubricating drug-loaded nanoparticles(bMSNs–NH_(2)@PMPC)by photopolymerization.The in vitro degradation test demonstrated that the bMSNs and bMSNs–NH_(2)@PMPC almost degraded within 7 days.The tribiological test showed that the lubrication property of the bMSNs–NH2@PMPC was greatly improved,with a reduction of 50%in the friction coefficient(COF)compared with the bMSNs.It was attributed to hydration lubrication mechanism by which a tenacious hydration layer is formed surrounding the zwitterionic headgroups(N+(CH_(3))^(3)and PO4-)in PMPC polyelectrolyte polymer.Additionally,the bMSNs–NH_(2)@PMPC maintained excellent lubrication property under degradation and achieved sustained drug release behavior compared with the bMSNs.In summary,the biodegradable bMSNs–NH2@PMPC developed in this study with the properties of enhanced lubrication and drug delivery may be a promising approach for osteoarthritis therapy. | Li WAN Yi WANG Xiaolong TAN Yulong SUN Jing LUO Hongyu ZHANG | 2022 | Friction2022,10,1: | 2 |
