Histological Subtypes of Lung Cancer in Chinese Males from 2000 to 2012显示文摘Objective To characterize the histological and epidemiological features of male lung cancer patients in China. Methods The demographic and histological information about male lung cancer patients identified from 2000-01-01 to 2012-12-31,was collected from the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Relative frequencies(RF) were estimated for major histological subtypes and compared according to the years of diagnosis and birth. Results The RF of adenocarcinoma(ADC) increased from 21.96% to 43.36% and the RF of squamous cell carcinoma(SCC) decreased from 39.11% to 32.23% from 2000 to 2012 in the 15 427 male lung cancer patients included in this study(Z=17.909,P<0.0001; Z=-6.117,P<0.0001). The RF of ADC increased from 28.72% in 2000-2004,36.88% in 2005-2008 to 48.61% in 2009-2012 in patients born after 1960. The age-adjusted RF of ADC in 2007-2012 increased consistently in all the investigated areas. Conclusion The increased RF of ADC in male lung cancer patients highlights the need for further investigation of the etiologic factors of these tumors. Smoke-free policies rather than modifying tobacco products should be enforced.ZOU Xiao Nong LIN Dong Mei WAN Xia CHAO Ann FENG Qin Fu DAI Zhen YANG Gong Huan LV Ning 2014Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2014,27,1:19
Electroacupuncture activates enteric glial cells and protects the gut barrier in hemorrhaged rats显示文摘AIM:To investigate whether electroacupuncture ST36 activates enteric glial cells, and alleviates gut inflammation and barrier dysfunction following hemorrhagic shock.METHODS:Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to approximately 45% total blood loss and randomly divided into seven groups:(1) sham:cannulation, but no hemorrhage;(2) subjected to hemorrhagic shock(HS);(3) electroacupuncture(EA) ST36 after hemorrhage;(4) vagotomy(VGX)/EA:VGX before hemorrhage, then EA ST36;(5) VGX:VGX before hemorrhage;(6) a-bungarotoxin(BGT)/EA:intraperitoneal injection of a-BGT before hemorrhage, then EA ST36; and(7) a-BGT group:a-BGT injection before hemorrhage.Morphological changes in enteric glial cells(EGCs) were observed by immunofluorescence, and glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP; a protein marker of enteric glial activation) was evaluated using reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction and western blot analysis.Intestinal cytokine levels, gut permeability to 4-k Da fluorescein isothiocyanate(FITC)-dextran,and the expression and distribution of tight junction protein zona occludens(ZO)-1 were also determined.RESULTS:EGCs were distorted following hemorrhage and showed morphological abnormalities.EA ST36 attenuated the morphological changes in EGCs at 6 h,as compared with the VGX,a-BGT and HS groups.EA ST36 increased GFAP expression to a greater degree than in the other groups.EA ST36 decreased intestinal permeability to FITC-dextran(760.5 ± 96.43 ng/m L vs 2466.7 ± 131.60 ng/m L,P < 0.05) and preserved ZO-1 protein expression and localization at 6 h afterhemorrhage compared with the HS group. However, abdominal VGX and a-BGT treatment weakened or eliminated the effects of EA ST36.EA ST36 reduced tumor necrosis factor-a levels in intestinal homogenates after blood loss, while vagotomy or intraperitoneal injection of a-BGT before EA ST36 abolished its antiinflammatory effects.CONCLUSION:EA ST36 attenuates hemorrhageinduced intestinal inflammatory insult, and protects the intestinal barrier integrity, partly via activation of EGCs.Sen Hu Zeng-Kai Zhao Rui Liu Hai-Bin Wang Chun-Yu Gu Hong-Min Luo Huan Wang Ming-Hua Du Yi Lv Xian Shi 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,5:15
Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of Shengjiang decoction in rats with acute pancreatitis for protecting against multiple organ injury显示文摘AIM To explore the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of Shengjiang decoction(SJD) in rats with acute pancreatitis(AP) for protecting against multiple organ injury.METHODS An AP model was established by retrograde perfusion of 3.5% sodium taurocholate into the biliopancreatic duct, and a control group(CG) received 0.9% sodium chloride instead. Twelve male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into a CG treated with SJD(CG + SJD) and a model group treated with SJD(MG + SJD), both of which were orally administered with SJD(5 g/kg) 2 h after surgery. Blood samples were collected via the tail vein at 10, 20, and 40 min and 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, and 12 h after a single dose of SJD to detect its main components using high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. The pharmacokinetic parameters were compared. In the pharmacodynamic experiment, 18 male SpragueDawley rats were randomly divided into a CG, an AP model group(MG), and an SJD treated AP group(SJDG). Serum amylase, lipase, and inflammatory cytokines were measured, and heart, lung, liver, spleen, pancreas, kidney, and intestine tissues were collected for pathological examination.RESULTS The MG + SJD displayed significantly shorter mean residence time(MRT) and higher clearance(CL) for emodin and aloe-emodin; significantly shorter time of maximum concentration and T1/2 and a lower area under curve(AUC) for aloe-emodin; a significantly higher AUC and lower CL for rhein; and longer MRT and lower CL for chrysophanol than the CG + SJD. In the pharmacodynamic experiment, the amylase, interleukin(IL)-6, IL-10, and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α levels in the MG were higher than those in the CG(P < 0.05). After the herbal decoction treatment, the SJDG had higher IL-10 and lower TNF-α levels than the MG(P < 0.05). The MG had the highest pathological scores, and the pathological scores of the lung, pancreas, kidney, and intestine in the SJDG were significantly lower than those in the MG(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION AP may have varying effects on the pharmacokinetics of the major SJD components in rats. SJD might alleviate pathological injuries of the lung, pancreas, kidney, and intestine in rats with AP via regulating pro-and antiinflammatory responses, which might guide the clinical application of SJD for AP treatment.Lv Zhu Jun-Yi Li Yu-Mei Zhang Hong-Xin Kang Huan Chen Hang Su Juan Li Wen-Fu Tang 2017World Journal of Gastroenterology2017,23,46:10
Oncogenic AURKA-enhanced N6-methyladenosine modification increases DROSHA mRNA stability to transactivate STC1 in breast cancer stem-like cells显示文摘RNase III DROSHA is upregulated in multiple cancers and contributes to tumor progression by hitherto unclear mechanisms. Here,we demonstrate that DROSHA interacts withβ-Catenin to transactivate STC1 in an RNA cleavage-independent manner, contributing to breast cancer stem-like cell(BCSC)properties.DROSHA mRNA stability is enhanced by N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A)modification which is activated by AURKA in BCSCs.AURKA stabilizes METTL14 by inhibiting its ubiquitylation and degradation to promote DROSHA mRNA methylation. Moreover, binding of AURKA to DROSHA transcript further strengthens the binding of the m^(6)A reader IGF2BP2 to stabilize m^(6)A-modified DROSHA.In addition,wild-type DROSHA,but not an m^(6)A methylation-deficient mutant, enhances BCSC stemness maintenance, while inhibition of DROSHA m^(6)A modification attenuates BCSC traits. Our study unveils the AURKA-induced oncogenic m^(6)A modification as a key regulator of DROSHA in breast cancer and identifies a novel DROSHA transcriptional function in promoting the BCSC phenotype.Fei Peng Jie Xu Bai Cui Qilan Liang Sai Zeng Bin He Hong Zou Manman Li Huan Zhao Yuting Meng Jin Chen Bing Liu Shasha Lv Peng Chu Fan An Zifeng Wang Junxiu Huang Yajing Zhan Yuwei Liao Jinxin Lu Lingzhi Xu Jin Zhang Zhaolin Su Zhiguang Li Fangjun Wang Eric W-FLam Quentin Liu 2021Cell Research2021,31,3:9
Regulating Effects of Novel CpG Chitosan-nanoparticles on Immune Responses of Mice to Porcine Paratyphoid Vaccines显示文摘Objective To study the regulating effects of a novel CpG oligodeoxynuleotide and the synergistic effect of chitosan-nanoparticles (CNP) with CpG on immune responses of mice, which were used to develop a novel immunoadjuvant to boost immune response to conventional vaccines. Methods A novel CpG ODN containing 11 CpG motifs was synthesized and its bioactivities to stimulate the proliferation of lymphocytes of pig in vitro were detected. Then it was entrapped with CNP prepared in our laboratory by the method of ionic cross linkage, and immunized Kunming mice were co-inoculated with paratyphoid vaccine. The peripheral blood was collected weekly from the tail vein of inoculated mice to detect the contents of IgG, IgA, IgM, and specific antibody against salmonella as well as the levels of interleukin-2 (IL2), IL-4, and IL-6 by SABC-ELISA assay. The numbers of leucocytes, monocytes, granuloytes, and lymphocytes were calculated separately using the routine method. The experimental mice were orally challenged with virulent salmonella 35 days after inoculation. Results This CpG ODN could remarkably provoke the proliferation of lymphocytes of pig in vitro in contrast with the control (P<0.05). Compared with those of the control, immunoglobulins, including IgG, IgA, IgM, and specific antibodies to paratyphoid vaccine, increased significantly in sera from the CpG or CpG-CNP-vaccinated mice (P<0.05). IL-2, IL-4, and IL-6 increased remarkably in sera from immunized mice (P<0.05). The leucocytes, monocytes, granuloytes, and lymphocytes of the mice immunized with CpG or CpG-CNP were also increased in number (P<0.05). After the challenge, these immunity values were elevated in the mice vaccinated with CpG or CpG-CNP. The immunized mice all survived, while the control mice fell ill with evident lesions with diffuse hemorrhage in stomach, small intestine, and peritoneum. Conclusions CpG ODN entrapped with CNP is a promising effective immunoadjuvant for vaccination, which promotes humoral and cellular immune responses, enhances immunity and resistance against salmonella by co-administration with paratyphoid vaccine.MAN-LIANG FU SAN-CHENG YING MEI WU HUI LI KAI-YUAN WU YI YANG HUAN ZHANG CHI CHENG ZE-ZHOU WANG XIU-YING WANG XUE-BING LV YI-ZHENG ZHANG RONG GAO 2006Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2006,19,4:8
Fedora-type magnetic compression anastomosis device for intestinal anastomosis显示文摘BACKGROUND Although previous studies have confirmed the feasibility of magnetic compression anastomosis(MCA),there is still a risk of long-term anastomotic stenosis. For traditional MCA devices,a large device is associated with great pressure, and eventually increased leakage.AIM To develop a novel MCA device to simultaneously meet the requirements of pressure and size.METHODS Traditional nummular MCA devices of all possible sizes were used to conduct ileac anastomosis in rats. The mean(±SD)circumference of the ileum was 13.34±0.12 mm.Based on short-and long-term follow-up results,we determined the appropriate pressure range and minimum size.Thereafter,we introduced a novel“fedora-type”MCA device, which entailed the use of a nummular magnet with a larger sheet metal.RESULTS With traditional MCA devices, the anastomoses experienced stenosis and even closure during the long-term follow-up when the anastomat was smaller thanΦ5 mm.However, the risk of leakage increased when it was larger thanΦ4 mm.On comparison of the different designs,it was found that the“fedora-type”MCA device should be composed of aΦ4-mm nummular magnet with aΦ6-mm sheet metal.CONCLUSION The diameter of the MCA device should be greater than 120%of the enteric diameter. The novel“fedora-type”MCA device controls the pressure and optimizes the size.Huan Chen Tao Ma Yue Wang Hao-Yang Zhu Zhe Feng Rong-Qian Wu Yi Lv Ding-Hui Dong 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,42:7
Transcriptomic analyses identify albino-associated genes of a novel albino tea germplasm ‘Huabai 1’显示文摘Albinism in shoots of tea plants is a common phenotypic expression which gives the tea infusion a pleasant umami taste.A novel natural albino mutant tea germplasm containing high amino acids content was found and named as‘Huabai 1’.‘Huabai 1’has white jade tender shoots under low temperature and turns green with increased temperature. In order to understand the molecular mechanism of color change in leaf of‘Huabai 1’,transcriptome analysis was performed to identify albino-associated differentially expressed genes(DEGs).A total of 483 DEGs were identified from white shoots of‘Huabai 1’compared to its green shoots. There were 15 DEGs identified to be involved in phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, which account for the majority of characterized DEGs.The metabolites related to phenylpropanoid biosynthesis revealed similar expression pattern of DEGs.Furthermore, metabolic pathways such as ubiquonone, tyrosine, and flavonoid biosynthesis associated with phenylpropanoid biosynthesis could also contribute to the color change in‘Huabai 1’tender shoots.Protein–protein interaction analysis revealed a hub protein NEDD8(CSA009575)which interacted with many regulated genes in spliceosome, nitrogen metabolism, phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, and other pathways. In conclusion, the findings in this study indicate that the color change of‘Huabai 1’tender shoots is a combined effect of phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathway and other metabolic pathways including flavonoid biosynthesis in tea plants.Chlorophyll biosynthesis-related genes LHCII and SGR may also play some roles in color change of‘Huabai 1’.Qingping Ma Huan Li Zhongwei Zou Emmanuel Arkorful Qianru Lv Qiongqiong Zhou Xuan Chen Kang Sun Xinghui Li 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:7
Effects of Yue-Bi-Tang on water metabolism in severe acute pancreatitis rats with acute lung-kidney injury显示文摘BACKGROUND The complications acute lung injury and acute kidney injury caused by severe inflammation are the main reasons of high mortality of severe acute pancreatitis(SAP).These two complications can both lead to water metabolism and acid-base balance disorders, which could act as additional critical factors affecting the disease trend.Aquaporins(AQPs),which can regulate the transmembrane water transport, have been proved to participate in the pathophysiological process of SAP and the associated complications, such as acute lung injury and acute kidney injury. Thus, exploring herbs that can effectively regulate the expression of AQP in SAP could benefit the prognosis of this disease.AIM To determine whether Yue-Bi-Tang(YBT)can regulate the water metabolism in rats with severe acute pancreatitis via regulating the expression of aquaporins.METHODS Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups, sham operation group(SOG),model group(MG),and treatment group(TG).SAP was induced with 3.5%sodium taurocholate in the MG and TG.Rats in the TG were administered with YBT while SOG and MG rats were given the same volume of saline.Blood and tissue samples were harvested to detect serum inflammatory cytokines, histopathological changes, malondialdehyde and superoxide dismutase in the lung, and protein and mRNA expression of kidney injury molecule-1,α-smooth muscle actin, and vimentin in the kidney, and AQP1 and 4 in the lung, pancreas, and kidney.RESULTS The serum interleukin-10,tumor necrosis factorα,and creatinine levels were higher in the MG than in the SOG.Tumor necrosis factorαlevel in the TG was lower than that in the MG.Malondialdehyde level in lung tissues was higher than in the SOG.The pathological scores and edema scores of the pancreas, lung, and kidney tissues in the MG were all higher than those in the SOG and TG.The protein expression of AQP4 in lung tissues and AQP1 in kidney tissues in the MG were higher than those in the SOG and TG.The expression of vimentin was significantly higher in the MG than in the SOG.The expression of AQP1 mRNA in the lung and kidney, and AQP4 mRNA in the kidney was up-regulated in the MG compared to the SOG.CONCLUSION YBT might regulate water metabolism to reduce lung and kidney edema of SAP rats via decreasing AQP expression, and alleviate the tissue inflammatory injury.Jing Hu Yu-Mei Zhang Yi-Fan Miao Lv Zhu Xiao-Lin Yi Huan Chen Xi-Jing Yang Mei-Hua Wan Wen-Fu Tang 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,43:7
Optimal timing for the oral administration of DaCheng-Qi decoction based on the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic targeting of the pancreas in rats with acute pancreatitis显示文摘AIM To identify the optimal oral dosing time of Da-Cheng-Qi decoction(DCQD) in rats with acute pancreatitis(AP) based on the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic parameters.METHODS First, 24 male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into a sham-operated group [NG(a)] and three model groups [4 h G(a), 12 h G(a) and 24 h G(a)]. The NG(a) and model groups were administered DCQD(10 g/kg.BW) intragastrically at 4 h, 4 h, 12 h and 24 h, respectively, after AP models induced by 3% sodium taurocholate. Plasma samples were collected from the tails at 10 min, 20 min, 40 min, 1 h, 2 h, 4 h, 8 h, 12 h and 24 h after a single dosing with DCQD. Plasma and pancreatic tissue concentrations of the major components of DCQD were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectroscopy. The pharmacokinetic parameters and serum amylase were detected and compared. Second, rats were divided into a sham-operated group [NG(b)] and three treatment groups [4 h G(b), 12 h G(b) and 24 h G(b)] with three corresponding control groups [MG(b)s]. Blood and pancreatic tissues were collected 24 h after a single dosing with DCQD. Serum amylase, inflammatory cytokines and pathological scores of pancreatic tissues were detected and compared.RESULTS The concentrations of emodin, naringin, honokiol, naringenin, aloe-emodin, chrysophanol and rheochrysidin in the 12 h G(a) group were higher than those in the 4 h G(a) group in the pancreatic tissues(P < 0.05). The area under the plasma concentration-time curve from time 0 to the time of the last measurable concentration values(AUC0→t) for rhein, chrysophanol, magnolol and naringin in the 12 h G(a) group were larger than those in the 4 h G(a) or 24 h G(a) groups. The 12 h G(a) group had a higher Cmax than the other two model groups. The IL-10 levels in the 12 h G(b) and 24 h G(b) groups were higher than in the MG(b)s(96.55 ± 7.84 vs 77.46 ± 7.42, 251.22 ± 16.15 vs 99.72 ± 4.7 respectively, P < 0.05), while in the 24 h G(b) group, the IL-10 level was higher than in the other two treatment groups(251.22 ± 16.15 vs 154.41 ± 12.09/96.55 ± 7.84, P < 0.05). The IL-6 levels displayed a decrease in the 4 h G(b) and 12 h G(b) groups compared to theMG(b)s(89.99 ± 4.61 vs 147.91 ± 4.36, 90.82 ± 5.34 vs 171.44 ± 13.43, P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Late-time dosing may have higher concentrations of the most major components of DCQD, with better pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of antiinflammation than early-time dosing, which showed the late time to be the optimal dosing time of DCQD for AP.Yu-Mei Zhang Lin Zhu Xian-Lin Zhao Huan Chen Hong-Xin Kang Jian-Lei Zhao Mei-Hua Wan Juan Li Lv Zhu Wen-Fu Tang 2017World Journal of Gastroenterology2017,23,39:5
Sheng-jiang powder ameliorates obesity-induced pancreatic inflammatory injury via stimulating activation of the AMPK signalling pathway in rats显示文摘AIM To investigate the mechanisms by which Sheng-jiang powder(SJP) ameliorates obesity-induced pancreatic inflammatory injury.METHODS Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into three groups: normal group(NG), obese group(HLG), or SJP treatment group(HSG). Obesity was induced by feeding a high-fat diet in the HLG and HSG, while the NG received standard chow. Rats were euthanized after 12 wk, and blood and pancreatic tissues were collected for histopathological analyses. Nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells(NF-κB) and transforming growth factor beta(TGF-β) expression, serum triglyceride and adiponectin levels, and apoptosis in pancreatic acinar cells were assessed. A high-fat AR42 J acinar cell injury model was established using very low-density lipoprotein(VLDL). AR42 J acinar cell culture supernatant, treated with different interventions, was applied to seven groups of pancreatic stellate cells(PSCs). The proliferation of PSCs and the expression of fibronectin and type I collagenase were assessed.RESULTS Compared with the NG, we found higher pathological scores for pancreatic tissues, lower serum adiponectin levels, higher expression levels of NF-κB in pancreatic tissues and TGF-β in pancreatic inflammatory cells, and increased apoptosis among pancreatic acinar cells for the HLG(P < 0.05). Compared with the HLG, we found reduced body weight, Lee's index scores, serum triglyceride levels, and pathological scores for pancreatic tissues; higher serum adiponectin levels; and lower expression levels of NF-κB, in pancreatic tissue and TGF-β in pancreatic inflammatory cells for the HSG(P < 0.05). The in vitro studies showed enhanced PSC activation and increased expression levels of fibronectin and type I collagenase after SJP treatment. An adenosine 5‘-monophosphate-activated protein kinase(AMPK) inhibitor inhibited PSC activation.CONCLUSION SJP may ameliorate obesity-induced pancreatic inflammatory injury in rats by regulating key molecules of the adiponectin-AMPK signalling pathway.Yi-Fan Miao Juan Li Yu-Mei Zhang Lv Zhu Huan Chen Ling Yuan Jing Hu Xiao-Lin Yi Qiu-Ting Wu Mei-Hua Wan Wen-Fu Tang 2018World Journal of Gastroenterology2018,24,39:4
Effect of Sheng-jiang powder on multiple-organ inflammatory injury in acute pancreatitis in rats fed a high-fat diet显示文摘BACKGROUND Obesity worsens inflammatory organ injury in acute pancreatitis(AP), but there is no effective preventive strategy. Sheng-jiang powder(SJP) has been shown to alleviate multiple-organ inflammatory injury in rats with high-fat diet-induced obesity. Hence, SJP is supposed to have an effect on multiple-organ inflammatory injury in AP in rats fed a high-fat diet.AIM To explore how obesity may contribute to aggravating inflammatory organ injury in AP in rats and observe the effect of SJP on multiple-organ inflammatory injury in AP in rats fed a high-fat diet.METHODS Rats were randomly assigned to a control group(CG), an obese group(OG), and an SJP treatment group(SG), with eight rats per group. The rats in the OG and SG were fed a high-fat diet. From the third week, the rats in the SG were given oral doses of SJP(5 g/kg of body weight). After 12 wk, AP was induced in the three groups. Serum amylase level, body weight, Lee's index, serum biochemistry parameters, and serum inflammatory cytokine and tissue cytokine levels were assessed, and the tissue histopathological scores were evaluated and compared.RESULTS Compared with the CG, serum triglyceride, total cholesterol, interleukin-6, and interleukin-10 levels were significantly higher in the OG, and serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol level was significantly lower in the OG. Moreover, enhanced oxidative damage was observed in the pancreas, heart, spleen, lung, intestine, liver, and kidney. Evidence of an imbalanced antioxidant defense system, especially in the pancreas, spleen, and intestine, was observed in the obese AP rats. Compared with the OG, serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, interleukin-10, and superoxide dismutase expression levels in the pancreas, spleen, and intestine were increased in the SG. Additionally, SJP intervention led to a decrease in the following parameters: body weight; Lee's index; serum triglyceride levels; serum total cholesterol levels; malondialdehyde expression levels in the pancreas, heart, spleen, lung, and liver; myeloperoxidase expression levels in the lung; and pathological scores in the liver.CONCLUSION Obesity may aggravate the inflammatory reaction and pathological multipleorgan injury in AP rats, and SJP may alleviate multiple-organ inflammatory injury in AP in rats fed a high-fat diet.Yi-Fan Miao Hong-Xin Kang Juan Li Yu-Mei Zhang Hong-Yu Ren Lv Zhu Huan Chen Ling Yuan Hang Su Mei-Hua Wan Wen-Fu Tang 2019World Journal of Gastroenterology2019,25,6:4
Combining chlorination and sulfuration strategies for high-performance all-small-molecule organic solar cells显示文摘Three small-molecule donors based on dithieno [2,3-d:2’,3 ’-d’]-benzo[1,2-b:4,5-b’] dithiophene(DTBDT)unit were designed and synthesized by side chain regulation with chlorinated or/and sulfurated substitutions(namely ZR1,ZR1-Cl,and ZR1-S-Cl respectively),along with a crystalline non-fullerene acceptor IDIC-4 Cl with a chlorinated 1,1-dicyanomethylene-3-indanone(IC) end group.Energy levels, molar extinction coefficients and crystallinities of three donor molecules can be effectively altered by combining chlorination and sulfuration strategies.Especially, the ZR1-S-Cl exhibited the best absorption ability, lowest higher occupied molecular orbital(HOMO) energy level and highest crystallinity among three donors, resulting in the corresponding all-small-molecule organic solar cells to produce a high power conversion efficiency(PCE) of 12.05% with IDIC-4 Cl as an acceptor.Ruimin Zhou Chen Yang Wenjun Zou Muhammad Abdullah Adil Huan Li Min Lv Ziyun Huang Menglan Lv Jianqi Zhang Kun Lu Zhixiang Wei 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,1:3
Synchronous multiple primary gastrointestinal cancers with CDH1 mutations:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Synchronous multiple primary cancers (SMPC) mean two or more malignant tumors occurring simultaneously and with different origins no matter what types they are or where they are located. The carcinogenesis of SMPC often involves variations of some specific genes. However, the correlation between CDH1 mutations and synchronous multiple primary gastrointestinal cancers is largely unknown. CASE SUMMARY A 62-year-old woman had sustained abdominal pain for one week and visited our hospital. Gastrointestinal endoscopy revealed multiple small polypoid lesions in both the stomach and colorectum. Computed tomography and laboratory results were within normal limits. Pathological evaluation confirmed signet ring cell carcinoma without obvious metastatic evidence. Malignant cells showed negativity for E-cadherin and positivity for β-catenin in the cytoplasm and nucleus. DNA sequencing performed on paraffin-embedded tissue revealed two exactly coincident alterations in CDH1, C.57T>G and C.1418A>T. CONCLUSION This case suggests that the combination of CDH1 mutations and WNT/β-catenin signaling activation contributes to the carcinogenesis of gastrointestinal SMPC.Mu-Ni Hu Wei Lv Rui-Yue Hu Yi-Fan Si Xiao-Wen Lu Yan-Juan Deng Huan Deng 2019World Journal of Clinical Cases2019,7,13:3

Optimal dosing time of Dachengqi decoction for protection of extrapancreatic organs in rats with experimental acute pancreatitis显示文摘BACKGROUND Acute pancreatitis(AP)is a pancreatic inflammatory disorder that is commonly complicated by extrapancreatic organ dysfunction.Dachengqi decoction(DCQD)has a potential role in protecting the extrapancreatic organs, but the optimal oral administration time remains unclear.AIM To screen the appropriate oral administration time of DCQD for the protection of extrapancreatic organs based on the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of AP rats.METHODS This study consisted of two parts. In the first part,24 rats were divided into a sham-operated group and three model groups. The four groups were intragastrically administered with DCQD(10 g/kg)at 4 h,4 h,12 h,and 24 h postoperatively, respectively.Tail vein blood was taken at nine time points after administration, and then the rats were euthanized and the extrapancreatic organ tissues were immediately collected. Finally, the concentrations of the major DCQD components in all samples were detected. In the second part,84 rats were divided into a sham-operated group,as well as 4 h,12 h,and 24 h treatment groups and corresponding control groups(4 h,12 h,and 24 h control groups).Rats in the treatment groups were intragastrically administered with DCQD(10 g/kg)at 4 h,12 h,and 24 h postoperatively, respectively, and rats in the control groups were administered with normal saline at the same time points. Then, six rats from each group were euthanized at 4 h and 24 h after administration.Serum amylase and inflammatory mediators, and pathological scores of extrapancreatic organ tissues were evaluated.RESULTS For part one,the pharmacokinetic parameters(C max,T max,T 1/2,and AUC 0→t)of the major DCQD components and the tissue distribution of most DCQD components were better when administering DCQD at the later(12 h and 24 h)time points. For part two, delayed administration of DCQD resulted in lower IL-6 and amylase levels and relatively higher IL-10 levels, and pathological injury of extrapancreatic organ tissues was slightly less at 4 h after administration, while the results were similar between the treatment and corresponding control groups at 24 h after administration.CONCLUSION Delayed administration of DCQD might reduce pancreatic exocrine secretions and ameliorate pathological injury in the extrapancreatic organs of AP rats, demonstrating that the late time is the optimal dosing time.Jia-Qi Yao Lin Zhu Yi-Fan Miao Lv Zhu Huan Chen Ling Yuan Jing Hu Xiao-Lin Yi Qiu-Ting Wu Xi-Jing Yang Mei-Hua Wan Wen-Fu Tang 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,22:2
Risk factors for chronic graft-versus-host disease after anti-thymocyte globulin-based haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in acute myeloid leukemia显示文摘Chronic graft-versus-host disease(cGVHD)is a major complication following unmanipulated haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(haplo-HSCT).We aimed to identify the risk factors for cGVHD in patients who underwent anti-thymocyte globulin-based haplo-HSCT for acute myeloid leukemia(n=280).The diagnosis of cGVHD was in accordance with the National Institutes of Health consensus criteria.A total of 169 patients suffered from cGVHD.The patients who had 3 loci mismatched had a higher 8-year incidence of cGVHD(total,66.0%vs.53.7%,P=0.031;moderate to severe,42.4%vs.30.1%,P=0.036)than the patients who had 1 to 2 loci mismatched. The patients who had maternal donors had a higher 8-year incidence of moderate to severe cGVHD(49.2%vs.32.9%,P=0.024)compared with the patients who had other donors. The patients who had grades III to IV acute GVHD(aGVHD)had higher 8-year incidence of cGVHD(total,88.0%vs.50.4%,P<0.001;moderate to severe,68.0%vs.27.0%,P<0.001)compared with the patients without aGVHD.In multivariate analysis, grades III to IV aGVHD was the only independent risk factor for cGVHD.Thus, further interventions should be considered in patients with severe aGVHD to prevent cGVHD.Meng Lv Xiaohui Zhang Lanping Xu Yu Wang Chenhua Yan Huan Chen Yuhong Chen Wei Han Fengrong Wang Jingzhi Wang Kaiyan Liu Xiaojun Huang Xiaodong Mo 2019Frontiers of Medicine2019,13,6:2
Enteroenteroanastomosis near adjacent ileocecal valve in infants显示文摘AIM:To investigate the feasibility and the effectiveness of ileoileostomy in the region adjacent to the ileocecal valve, which can retain the ileocecal valve in infants.METHODS:This is a retrospective review of 48 patients who underwent ileoileostomy in the region adjacent to the ileocecal valve(group 1) and 34 patients who underwent ileocecal resections and ileotransversanastomosis(group 2).Patients were monitored for the time to flatus, resumption of eating, length of hospital stay after surgery, serum total bile acid, vitamin B12 and postoperative complications.RESULTS:The time to flatus, time until resumption of eating and post-operative length of hospital stay showed no statistically significant differences between the two groups.Serum total bile acid and vitamin B12were not significantly different between the two groups at post-operative day 1 and day 3,but were significantly decreased at 1 wk after operation in group 2.None of the patients died or suffered from stomal leak in these two groups. However, the incidence of diarrhea, intestinal infection, disturbance of acid-base balance and water-electrolytes in group 1 was lower than in group 2.CONCLUSION:Ileoileostomy in the region adjacent to the ileocecal valve is safe and results in fewer complications than ileotransversanastomosis in infants.Wei-Wei Jiang Xiao-Qun Xu Qi-Ming Geng Jie Zhang Huan Chen Xiao-Feng Lv Chang-Gui Lu Wei-Bing Tang 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,48:2
Analysis of the Effect of Optical Properties of Black Carbon on Ozone in an Urban Environment at the Yangtze River Delta,China显示文摘Black carbon(BC)reduces the photolysis coefficient by absorbing solar radiation, thereby affecting the concentration of ozone(O_(3))near the ground. The influence of BC on O_(3)has thus received much attention. In this study,Mie scattering and the tropospheric Ultraviolet and Visible radiation model are used to analyze the effect of BC optical properties on radiation.Combined with data of O_(3)precursors in Nanjing in 2014,an EKMA curve is drawn, and the variations in O_(3)concentration are further investigated using a zero-dimensional box mechanism model(NCAR MM).When O_(3)precursors are unchanged, radiation and O_(3)show a highly similar tendency in response to changing BC optical properties(R=0.997).With the increase of modal radius, the attenuation of fresh BC to radiation and O_(3)first trends upward before decreasing. In the mixing process, the attenuation of BC to radiation and O_(3)presents an upward tendency with the increase of relative humidity but decreases rapidly before increasing slowly with increasing thickness of coating. In addition, mass concentration is another major factor. When the BC to PM_(2.5)ratio increases to 5%in Nanjing, the radiation decreases by approximately 0.13%-3.71%while O_(3)decreases by approximately 8.13%-13.11%.The radiative effect of BC not only reduces O_(3)concentration but also changes the EKMA curve.Compared with the NO_(x)control area, radiation has a significant influence on the VOCs control area. When aerosol optical depth(AOD)increases by 17.15%,the NO_(x)to VOCs ratio decreases by 8.27%,and part of the original NO_(x)control area is transferred to the VOCs control area.Junlin AN Huan LV Min XUE Zefeng ZHANG Bo HU Junxiu WANG Bin ZHU 2021Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,7:1
