| 1 | Exosome-functionalized polyetheretherketone-based implant with immunomodulatory property for enhancing osseointegration显示文摘The host immune response effecting on biomaterials is critical to determine implant fates and bone regeneration property.Bone marrow stem cells(BMSCs)derived exosomes(Exos)contain multiple biosignal molecules and have been demonstrated to exhibit immunomodulatory functions.Herein,we develop a BMSC-derived Exos-functionalized implant to accelerate bone integration by immunoregulation.BMSC-derived Exos were reversibly incorporated on tannic acid(TA)modified sulfonated polyetheretherketone(SPEEK)via the strong interaction of TA with biomacromolecules.The slowly released Exos from SPEEK can be phagocytosed by co-cultured cells,which could efficiently improve the biocompatibilities of SPEEK.In vitro results showed the Exos loaded SPEEK promoted macrophage M2 polarization via the NF-κB pathway to enhance BMSCs osteogenic differentiation.Further in vivo rat air-pouch model and rat femoral drilling model assessment of Exos loaded SPEEK revealed efficient macrophage M2 polarization,desirable new bone formation,and satisfactory osseointegration.Thus,BMSC-derived Exos-functionalized implant exerted osteoimmunomodulation effect to promote osteogenesis. | Lei Fan Pengfei Guan Cairong Xiao Huiquan Wen Qiyou Wang Can Liu Yian Luo Limin Ma Guoxin Tan Peng Yu Lei Zhou Chengyun Ning | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,9: | 11 |
| 2 | An injectable,self-healing,electroconductive extracellular matrix-based hydrogel for enhancing tissue repair after traumatic spinal cord injury显示文摘Injectable biomaterial-based treatment is a promising strategy to enhance tissue repair after traumatic spinal cord injury(SCI)by bridging cavity spaces.However,there are limited reports of injectable,electroconductive hydrogels with self-healing properties being employed for the treatment of traumatic SCI.Hence,a natural extracellular matrix(ECM)biopolymer(chondroitin sulphate and gelatin)-based hydrogel containing polypyrrole,which imparted electroconductive properties,is developed for traumatic SCI repair.The resulting hydrogels showed mechanical(~928 Pa)and conductive properties(4.49 mS/cm)similar to natural spinal cord tissues.Moreover,the hydrogels exhibited shear-thinning and self-healing abilities,which allows it to be effectively injected into the injury site and to fill the lesion cavity to accelerate the tissue repair of traumatic SCI.In vitro,electroconductive ECM hydrogels promoted neuronal differentiation,enhanced axon outgrowth,and inhibited astrocyte differentiation.The electroconductive ECM hydrogel activated endogenous neural stem cell neurogenesis in vivo(n=6),and induced myelinated axon regeneration into the lesion site via activation of the PI3K/AKT and MEK/ERK pathways,thereby achieving significant locomotor function restoration in rats with spinal cord injury(p<0.001,compared to SCI group).Overall,the injectable self-healing electroconductive ECM-based hydrogels developed in this study are ideal biomaterials for treatment of traumatic SCI. | Yian Luo Lei Fan Can Liu Huiquan Wen Shihuan Wang Pengfei Guan Dafu Chen Chengyun Ning Lei Zhou Guoxin Tan | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,1: | 2 |

| 4 | Self-curling electroconductive nerve dressing for enhancing peripheral nerve regeneration in diabetic rats显示文摘Conductive scaffolds have been shown to exert a therapeutic effect on patients suffering from peripheral nerve injuries(PNIs).However,conventional conductive conduits are made of rigid structures and have limited applications for impaired diabetic patients due to their mechanical mismatch with neural tissues and poor plasticity.We propose the development of biocompatible electroconductive hydrogels(ECHs)that are identical to a surgical dressing in this study.Based on excellent adhesive and self-healing properties,the thin film-like dressing can be easily attached to the injured nerve fibers,automatically warps a tubular structure without requiring any invasive techniques.The ECH offers an intimate and stable electrical bridge coupling with the electrogenic nerve tissues.The in vitro experiments indicated that the ECH promoted the migration and adhesion of the Schwann cells.Furthermore,the ECH facilitated axonal regeneration and remyelination in vitro and in vivo through the MEK/ERK pathway,thus preventing muscle denervation atrophy while retaining functional recovery.The results of this study are likely to facilitate the development of non-invasive treatment techniques for PNIs in diabetic patients utilizing electroconductive hydrogels. | Can Liu Lei Fan Zhenming Tian Huiquan Wen Lei Zhou Pengfei Guan Yian Luo Chuncheung Chan Guoxin Tan Chengyun Ning Limin Rong Bin Liu | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,11: | 1 |
| 5 | Lazy Scheduling Based Disk Energy Optimization Method显示文摘Reducing the energy consumption of the storage systems disk read/write requests plays an important role in improving the overall energy efficiency of high-performance computing systems.We propose a method to reduce disk energy consumption by delaying the dispatch of disk requests to the end of a time window,which we call time window-based lazy scheduling.We prove that sorting requests within a single time window can reduce the disk energy consumption,and we discuss the relationship between the size of the time window and the disk energy consumption,proving that the energy consumption is highly likely to decrease with increasing window size.To exploit this opportunity,we propose the Lazy Scheduling based Disk Energy Optimization(LSDEO)algorithm,which adopts a feedback method to periodically adjust the size of the time window,and minimizes the local disk energy consumption by sorting disk requests within each time window.We implement the LSDEO algorithm in an OS kernel and conduct both simulations and actual measurements on the algorithm,confirming that increasing the time window increases disk energy savings.When the average request arrival rate is 300 and the threshold of average request response time is 50 ms,LSDEO can yield disk energy savings of 21.5%. | Yong Dong Juan Chen Yuhua Tang Junjie Wu Huiquan Wang Enqiang Zhou | 2020 | Tsinghua Science and Technology2020,25,2: | 1 |

| 8 | Early performance of Pinus radiata provenances in the earthquakeravaged dry river valley area of Sichuan, southwest China显示文摘A provenance experiment involving five native provenances and an Australian landrace of Pinus radiata(D.Don) was established over three sites in the dry river valley area of Sichuan, southwest China in 2004 in order to select the most suitable provenance for environmental planting on the dry, steep and degraded slopes to reduce soil erosion.Although with much lower soil moisture supply and mean minimum temperatures in winter compared to P.radiata provenance trials established elsewhere in the world, these sites are within the working limits of the species defined by previous climate modelling and matching.Because of the difficult site conditions and severe natural disturbances after the experiment was established, mortality was high across the three sites in comparison to provenance trials in other countries.The average mor-tality rate among the provenance by replicate planting units over the three sites varied from 16% to 76% four years after planting, and from40% to 88% five years after planting.The repeated measurements of tree size over time were analysed using multilevel linear mixed models to derive growth curves for the mean, median, the 75th and the 90th percentiles of the size distribution of each provenance at each site.There were significant site effects on tree growth, but no significant interactions between site and provenance was detected.Among the six provenances,Cambria was the best performer in diameter, height and stem volume growth across all sites.The better than average and the best trees of this provenance, as represented by the 75th and 90th percentiles of the nominal stem volume distribution, were significantly larger than the Australian landrace, A o Nuevo, and the two island provenances, Guadalupe and Cedros.Monterey was overall the second best performer behind Cambria.The Australian landrace, Guadalupe and A o Nuevo had similar performances in general.Cedros was significantly and consistently inferior to all other native provenances and the Australian land race.Because the genetic base of the present Australian plantations was derived largely from A o Nuevo and Monterey, the superior early growth performance of Cambria at such difficult sites brings a new promise to the search of P.radiata provenances for the vast dryland areas in New South Wales and other parts of Australia. | Huiquan Bi Rongwei Li Zongxing Wu Quan Huang Qianli Liu Yongli Zhou Yun Li | 2013 | Journal of Forestry Research2013,24,4: | 0 |
