Boundary Vorticity Flux and Engineering Flow Management显示文摘To improve the performance of complex viscous engineering flows, the focus should be on local dynamics(local processes and structures)measured by the space-time derivatives of the primary-variable fields, rather than these fields themselves. In the context of optimal flow management such as optimal configuration design and flow control, the local fluid dynamics on solid wall is of most direct relevance. For large Reynolds-number flows,we show that the on-wall local dynamics is highlighted by the balance between tangential pressure gradient and vorticity creation rate at the wall(boundary vorticity flux,BVF),namely the on-wall coupling of the compressing and shearing processes. This basic concept is demonstrated by previously unpublished and newly obtained numerical examples for external and internal flows, including the role of BVF as a faithful marker of the local appearance of boundary-layer separation and wall curvature discontinuity, and the use of BVF-based formulas to optimize the integrated performance of airfoil and compressor rotor blade. | Jiezhi Wu Hong Wu Qiushi Li | 2009 | Advances in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics2009,1,3: | 1

Multifunctional chitosan/gelatin@tannic acid cryogels decorated with in situ reduced silver nanoparticles for wound healing显示文摘Background:Most traditional wound dressings only partially meet the needs of wound healing because of their single function.Patients usually suffer from the increasing cost of treatment and pain resulting from the frequent changing of wound dressings.Herein,we have developed a mutifunctional cryogel to promote bacterial infected wound healing based on a biocompatible polysaccharide. Methods:The multifunctional cryogel is made up of a compositive scaffold of chitosan(CS),gelatin(Gel)and tannic acid(TA)and in situ formed silver nanoparticles(Ag NPs).A liver bleeding rat model was used to evaluate the dynamic hemostasis performance of the various cryogels. In order to evaluate the antibacterial properties of the prepared cryogels,gram-positive bacterium Staphylococcus aureus(S.aureus)and gram-negative bacterium Escherichia coli(E.coli)were cultured with the cryogels for 12 h.Meanwhile,S.aureus was introduced to cause bacterial infection in vivo. After treatment for 2 days, the exudates from wound sites were dipped for bacterial colony culture.Subsequently, the anti-inflammatory effect of the various cryogels was evaluated by western blotting and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Finally,full-thickness skin defect models on the back of SD rats were established to assess the wound healing performances of the cryogels. Results:Due to its porous structure, the multifunctional cryogel showed fast liver hemostasis. The introduced Ag NPs endowed the cryogel with an antibacterial efficiency of>99.9%against both S.aureus and E.coli.Benefited from the polyphenol groups of TA,the cryogel could inhibit nuclear factor-κB nuclear translocation and down-regulate inflammatory cytokines for an anti-inflammatory effect.Meanwhile, excessive reactive oxygen species could also be scavenged effectively.Despite the presence of Ag NPs,the cryogel did not show cytotoxicity and hemolysis. Moreover,in vivo experiments demonstrated that the biocompatible cryogel displayed effective bacterial disinfection and accelerated wound healing. Conclusions:The multifunctional cryogel, with fast hemostasis, antibacterial and anti-inflammation properties and the ability to promote cell proliferation could be widely applied as a wound dressing for bacterial infected wound healing. | Na Xu Yucheng Yuan Liangping Ding Jiangfeng Li Jiezhi Jia Zheng Li Dengfeng He Yunlong Yu | 2022 | Burns & Trauma2022,10,1: | 1
On the governing equations for the compressing process and its coupling with other processes显示文摘As a continuation of a recent linear analysis by Mao et al.(Acta Mech Sin,2010,26:355),in this paper we propose a general theoretical formulation for the compressing process in complex Newtonian fluid flows, which covers gas dynamics, aeroacoustics, nonlinear thermoviscous acoustics, viscous shock layer, etc.,as its special branches. The principle on which our formulation is based is the maximally natural and dynamic Helmholtz decomposition of the Navier-Stokes equation, along with the kinematic Helmholtz decomposition of the velocity field. The central results are the new dilatation equation and velocity-potential equation, which are the counterparts of vorticity transport equation and vector stream-function equation for the shearing process, respectively.Various couplings of the compressing process with shearing and thermal processes, including its physical sources, are carefully identified. While the possible applications and influences of the new formulation are yet to be explored, our preliminary discussion on the pros and cons of previous formulations pertain to acoustic analogy and that on the process splitting and coupling in highly compressible turbulence indicates that at least the formulation can serve as a new frame of reference by which one may gain some additional insight and thereby develop new approaches to the multi-process complex flow problems. | MAO Feng SHI YiPeng XUAN LiJun SU WeiDong WU JieZhi | 2011 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2011,54,6: | 1

Stiffness degradation-based damage model for RC members and structures using fiber-beam elements显示文摘To meet the demand for an accurate and highly efficient damage model with a distinct physical meaning for performance-based earthquake engineering applications, a stiffness degradation-based damage model for reinforced concrete(RC) members and structures was developed using fiber beam-column elements. In this model, damage indices for concrete and steel fibers were defined by the degradation of the initial reloading modulus and the low-cycle fatigue law. Then, section, member, story and structure damage was evaluated by the degradation of the sectional bending stiffness, rod-end bending stiffness, story lateral stiffness and structure lateral stiffness, respectively. The damage model was realized in Matlab by reading in the outputs of Open Sees. The application of the damage model to RC columns and a RC frame indicates that the damage model is capable of accurately predicting the magnitude, position, and evolutionary process of damage, and estimating story damage more precisely than inter-story drift. Additionally, the damage model establishes a close connection between damage indices at various levels without introducing weighting coefficients or force-displacement relationships. The development of the model has perfected the damage assessment function of Open Sees, laying a solid foundation for damage estimation at various levels of a large-scale structure subjected to seismic loading. | Guo Zongming Zhang Yaoting Lu Jiezhi Fan Jian | 2016 | Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration2016,15,4: | 1
A note on the Galilean invariance of aerodynamic force theories in unsteady incompressible flows显示文摘As a basic principle in classical mechanics, the Galilean invariance states that the force is the same in all inertial frames of reference. But this principle has not been properly addressed by most unsteady aerodynamic force theories,if the partial force contributed by a local flow structure is to be evaluated. In this note,we discuss the Galilean-invariance conditions of the partial force for several typical theories and numerically test what would happen if these conditions do not hold. | An-Kang Gao Jiezhi Wu | 2019 | Acta Mechanica Sinica2019,35,6: | 1
