1Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy for gastric cancer with peritoneal metastasis:A multicenter propensity scorematched cohort study显示文摘Objective:Systemic chemotherapy has limited efficacy in the treatment of peritoneal metastasis(PM)in gastric cancer(GC).Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy(HIPEC)combined with complete cytoreductive surgery(CRS)has shown promising outcomes but remains controversial.The present study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of HIPEC without CRS in GC patients with PM.Methods:This retrospective propensity score-matched multicenter cohort study included GC patients with PM treated with either chemotherapy alone(Cx group)or with HIPEC combined with chemotherapy(HIPEC-Cx group)in four Chinese high-volume gastric medical centers between 2010 and 2017.The primary outcomes were median survival time(MST)and 3-year overall survival(OS).Propensity score matching was performed to compensate for controlling potential confounding effects and selection bias.Results:Of 663 eligible patients,498 were matched.The MST in the Cx and HIPEC-Cx groups was 10.8 and 15.9 months,respectively[hazard ratio(HR)=0.71,95%confidence interval(95%CI),0.58-0.88;P=0.002].The 3-year OS rate was 10.1%(95%CI,5.4%-14.8%)and 18.4%(95%CI,12.3%-24.5%)in the Cx and HIPEC-Cx groups,respectively(P=0.017).The complication rates were comparable.The time to first flatus and length of hospital stay for patients undergoing HIPEC combined with chemotherapy was longer than that of chemotherapy alone(4.6±2.4 d vs.2.7±1.8 d,P<0.001;14.2±5.8 d vs.11.4±7.7 d,P<0.001),respectively.The median follow-up period was 33.2 months.Conclusions:Compared with standard systemic chemotherapy,HIPEC combined with chemotherapy revealed a statistically significant survival benefit for GC patients with PM,without compromising patient safety.Ziying Lei Jiahong Wang Zhi Li Baozhong Li Jiali Luo Xuejun Wang Jin Wang MingchenBa Hongsheng Tang Qingjun He Quanxing Liao Xiansheng Yang Tianpei Guan Han Liang Shuzhong Cui 2020Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2020,32,6:11
2Cooperative and Competitive Multi-Agent Systems:From Optimization to Games显示文摘Multi-agent systems can solve scientific issues related to complex systems that are difficult or impossible for a single agent to solve through mutual collaboration and cooperation optimization.In a multi-agent system,agents with a certain degree of autonomy generate complex interactions due to the correlation and coordination,which is manifested as cooperative/competitive behavior.This survey focuses on multi-agent cooperative optimization and cooperative/non-cooperative games.Starting from cooperative optimization,the studies on distributed optimization and federated optimization are summarized.The survey mainly focuses on distributed online optimization and its application in privacy protection,and overviews federated optimization from the perspective of privacy protection me-chanisms.Then,cooperative games and non-cooperative games are introduced to expand the cooperative optimization problems from two aspects of minimizing global costs and minimizing individual costs,respectively.Multi-agent cooperative and non-cooperative behaviors are modeled by games from both static and dynamic aspects,according to whether each player can make decisions based on the information of other players.Finally,future directions for cooperative optimization,cooperative/non-cooperative games,and their applications are discussed.Jianrui Wang Yitian Hong Jiali Wang Jiapeng Xu Yang Tang Qing-Long Han Jürgen Kurths 2022IEEE/CAA Journal of Automatica Sinica2022,9,5:5
3Distinct transcriptomic landscapes of cutaneous basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas显示文摘The majority of non-melanoma skin cancer(NMSC)is cutaneous basal cell carcinoma(BCC)or squamous cell carcinoma(SCC),which are also called keratinocyte carcinomas,as both of them originate from keratinocytes.The incidence of keratinocyte carcinomas is over 5 million per year in the US,three-fold higher than the total incidence of all other types of cancer combined.While there are several reports on gene expression profiling of BCC and SCC,there are significant variations in the reported gene expression changes in different studies.One reason is that tumor-adjacent normal skin specimens were not included in many studies as matched controls.Furthermore,while numerous studies of skin stem cells in mouse models have been reported,their relevance to human skin cancer remains unknown.In this report,we analyzed gene expression profiles of paired specimens of keratinocyte carcinomas with their matched normal skin tissues as the control.Among several novel findings,we discovered a significant number of zinc finger encoding genes up-regulated in human BCC.In BCC,a novel link was found between hedgehog signaling,Wnt signaling,and the cilium.While the SCC cancerstem-cell gene signature is shared between human and mouse SCCs,the hair follicle stem-cell signature of mice was not highly represented in human SCC.Differential gene expression(DEG)in human BCC shares gene signature with both bulge and epidermal stem cells.We have also determined that human BCCs and SCCs have distinct gene expression patterns,and some of them are not fully reflected in current mouse models.Jun Wan Hongji Dai Xiaoli Zhang Sheng Liu Yuan Lin Ally-Khan Somani Jingwu Xie Jiali Han 2021Genes & Diseases2021,8,2:2
4Acupoint catgut embedding versus acupuncture for simple obesity:a systematic review and Meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical effectiveness and safety of acupoint catgut embedding and acupuncture on simple obesity by Meta-analysis. METHODS: Studies on clinical randomized controlled trials of acupoint catgut embedding for simple obesity which were published from January 2015 to November 2020 were searched in Cochrane Central Register of Control Trials(Central), Pub Med, China Science and Technology Journal Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database and Wanfang databases. And those that met the inclusion criteria were screened. Rev Man5.3 was used for Meta-analysis. The “Risk of Bias” tool was used to evaluate the quality of included studies. R studio software was used for the measurement of publication bias. RESULTS: A total of 33 studies were included for Metaanalysis, including 2685 patients with simple obesity. Meta-analysis results showed the comparison of effectiveness rate was relative risk(RR) = 1.12, 95%CI(1.08, 1.16), body mass index(BMI) was mean difference(MD) =-1.12, 95%CI(-2.09,-0.14), waist circumference was MD =-2.14, 95%CI(-4.22,-0.06), and body mass was MD =-2.36, 95%CI(-3.99,-0.73). On the basis of diet and exercise intervention, the effectiveness rate [RR = 1.12, 95%CI(1.05, 1.19)], BMI [MD =-0.88, 95%CI(-1.35,-0.40)], waist circumference [MD =-1.10, 95%CI(-4.27, 2.07)], and body mass [MD =-0.68, 95%CI(-2.90, 1.54)]. The risk of bias of included literatures was low. CONCLUSIONS: Acupoint catgut embedding therapy was slightly better than acupuncture therapy in most of the outcomes. 12PuHox52 promotes coordinated uptake of nitrate,phosphate, and iron under nitrogen deficiency in Populus ussuriensis显示文摘It is of great importance to better understand how trees regulate nitrogen(N) uptake under N deficiency conditions which severely challenge afforestation practices, yet the underlying molecular mechanisms have not been well elucidated. Here,we functionally characterized PuHox52, a Populus ussuriensis HD-ZIP transcription factor, whose overexpression greatly enhanced nutrient uptake and plant growth under N deficiency. We first conducted an RNA sequencing experiment to obtain root transcriptome using PuHox52-overexpression lines of P. ussuriensis under low N treatment. We then performed multiple genetic and phenotypic analyses to identify key target genes of PuHox52 and validated how they acted against N deficiency under PuHox52 regulation.PuHox52 was specifically induced in roots by N deficiency, and overexpression of PuHox52promoted N uptake, plant growth, and root development. We demonstrated that several nitrate-responsive genes(PuNRT1.1, PuNRT2.4,PuCLC-b, PuNIA2, PuNIR1, and PuNLP1),phosphate-responsive genes(PuPHL1A and PuPHL1B), and an iron transporter gene(PuIRT1) were substantiated to be direct targets of PuHox52. Among them, PuNRT1.1, PuPHL1A/B, and PuIRT1 were upregulated to relatively higher levels during PuHox52-mediated responses against N deficiency in PuHox52-overexpression lines compared to WT. 13Scalable point cloud meshing for imagebased large-scale 3D modeling显示文摘Image-based 3D modeling is an effective method for reconstructing large-scale scenes,especially city-level scenarios.In the image-based modeling pipeline,obtaining a watertight mesh model from a noisy multi-view stereo point cloud is a key step toward ensuring model quality.However,some state-of-the-art methods rely on the global Delaunay-based optimization formed by all the points and cameras;thus,they encounter scaling problems when dealing with large scenes.To circumvent these limitations,this study proposes a scalable pointcloud meshing approach to aid the reconstruction of city-scale scenes with minimal time consumption and memory usage.Firstly,the entire scene is divided along the x and y axes into several overlapping chunks so that each chunk can satisfy the memory limit.Then,the Delaunay-based optimization is performed to extract meshes for each chunk in parallel.Finally,the local meshes are merged together by resolving local inconsistencies in the overlapping areas between the chunks.We test the proposed method on three city-scale scenes with hundreds of millions of points and thousands of images,and demonstrate its scalability,accuracy,and completeness,compared with the state-of-the-art methods.Jiali Han Shuhan Shen 2019Visual Computing for Industry,Biomedicine,and Art2019,2,1:0
14SETD2 mediates immunotherapy and radiotherapy efficacy via regulating DNA damage responses and genomic stability in lung adenocarcinoma显示文摘SETD2 is the main transferase for the trimethylation of histone H3 at lysine 36 (H3K36me3) in mammals. SETD2 plays important role in repairing DNA double strand breaks and maintaining chromatin integrity.1 In renal carcinoma, SETD2 deficiency caused DNA replication fork instability and DNA damage.2 The absence of SETD2 was also reported to have strong tumor-promoting effects in lung adenocarcinomas (LUAD).3 However, the other roles of SETD2 remain poorly understood in LUAD. In this study, we utilized comprehensive omics-data analysis to determine that SETD2 was associated with DNA damage and immune-related signals in LUAD. SETD2 knockdown induced DNA damage and cGAS activation in LUAD cells, and reduced the number of cells at the G1 phase. Moreover, SETD2 deficiency was conducive to mutation burden, immune cell infiltration, and immunotherapy responses. High SETD2 expression was associated with high radiocurability. 15Airflow pattern and performance of attached ventilation for two types of tiny spaces显示文摘With the emergence of urban sentry boxes and capsule hotels,the development of tiny spaces with the concept of a reasonable minimum occupied space has attracted widespread attention from society.The ventilation mode that fits with the limited geometric characteristics of tiny spaces is worth exploring.Combined with the respective ventilation requirements of two types of tiny spaces,i.e.,sentry box space and tiny sleeping space,this paper proposes two attached ventilation modes.A full-scale experiment cabin was established,and the simulation method was optimized through experimental data.The airflow pattern and distribution performance of the two attached ventilation modes in two types of tiny spaces were studied by the CFD method.The results showed that the airflow attached to the vertical wall could form an air curtain at the opening windows of the sentry box space,but there is a phenomenon of air leakage.The installation of the deflector can improve the integrity of the air curtain,and the best installation angle of the deflector is 60 degrees.The double side-attached ventilation mode in the tiny sleeping space can not only relieve the draught of the occupants(DR<15%),but also firstly deliver fresh air to the occupied zone(expiratory zone MAA<92 s).The research conclusions will add new ideas to the diversity of ventilation modes in tiny spaces.Haiguo Yin Yanyan Li Da Zhang Yuekun Han Jiali Wang Yongshou Zhang Angui Li 2022Building Simulation2022,15,8:0
16Can Tibetan medicine Honghua Ruyi pills relieve endometriosisassociated dysmenorrhea?Protocol for a randomized placebocontrolled trial显示文摘Objective:To provide high-quality clinical evidence of the efficacy of Tibetan medicine Honghua Ruyi(HHRY)pills for endometriosis-associated dysmenorrhea.Methods:This study constitutes a multicenter,randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled trial encompassing a three-menstrual cycle intervention followed by a three-menstrual cycle follow-up period.A total of 164 eligible females with endometriosis-associated dysmenorrhea were randomly divided into HHRY pills and placebo groups in a 1:1 ratio.The primary outcome included dysmenorrhea symptoms assessed using Visual Analog Scale(VAS)scores and quality of life,whereas the secondary outcome measures included the maximum VAS for non-menstrual pelvic pain,duration of pain episodes(in days),frequency and quantity of the consumption of ibuprofen sustained-release capsules(or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs),and days off work/study for staff/student due to dysmenorrhea,ovarian cyst,and/or pelvic nodule size.The safety was monitored throughout the treatment period.All the analyses were based on the intention-to-treat principle.For continuous outcomes,simple or multiple linear regressions were used to estimate the differences between the HHRY pills and placebo groups,with categorical data expressed as the number and percentage of occurrences.Differences were compared using the chi-square test or Fisher's exact test.The predefined analysis was adjusted for concomitant treatment,a variable considered to be associated with outcomes but unaffected by treatment allocation.Estimates of treatment effects were reported with 95%confidence intervals.Two-tailed P values≤.05 were considered statistically significant.Conclusion:Positive results from this trial,upon completion would provide robust evidence for the efficacy and safety of HHRY pills in treating dysmenorrhea in patients with endometriosis.Mei Han Jiahui Cao Jiali Wei Hui Luo Chaoqin Yu Xuefang Liang Nyangmotse Guoyan Yang Huilan Du Jianping Liu 2024Journal of Traditional Chinese Medical Sciences2024,11,1:0
17Identification of 13th-14th Century Chinese Handmade Paper Fibers Collected in Yuan Dynasty Paper Currencies显示文摘The earliest paper currencies in existence in China were handcrafted during the Yuan dynasty.These currencies were scientifically excavated from different ruins or tombs,whereas scientific analyses of the papers are rare.This study used optical and scanning electron microscopy to examine the fibers collected in Yuan dynasty paper currencies in conjunction with the Herzberg staining method.Despite differences in circulation period,paper fibers in both Zhi Yuan Tong Xing Bao Chao(two Guan)and Zhong Tong Yuan Bao Jiao Chao(one Guan and 500 Wen,issued in Zhi Zheng period)were identified as similar papermaking materials,bast fibers of mulberry bark.The results indicate that mulberry bark,a durable papermaking material used since ancient times,was mainly utilized as a raw material in these Yuan dynasty paper currency.This fiber identification work solved the critical problem of papermaking material in the Yuan dynasty paper currency and provided important information for conserving these precious cultural relics.Xingxing Liu Danjiancuo Yuan Qiulin Han Jiali Chen 2023Paper And Biomaterials2023,8,4:0
18The optimal anticoagulation strategy for COVID-19,prophylactic or therapeutic?:a meta-analysis,trial sequential analysis,and meta-regression of more than 27,000 participants显示文摘Background:Anticoagulants are promising regimens for treating coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).However,whether prophylactic or intermediate-to-therapeutic dosage is optimal remains under active discussion.Methods:We comprehensively searched PubMed,Embase,Scopus,Web of Science,Cochrane Library,ClinicalTrials,and MedRxiv databases on April 26,2022.Two independent researchers conducted literature selection and data extraction separately according to predetermined criteria.Notably,this is the first meta-analysis on COVID-19,taking serious consideration regarding the dosage overlap between the 2 comparison groups of prophylactic anticoagulation(PA)and intermediate-to-therapeutic anticoagulation(I-TA).Results:We included 11 randomized controlled trials(RCTs)and 36 cohort studies with 27,051 COVID-19 patients.By analyzing all the RCTs,there was no significant difference in mortality between the PA and I-TA groups,which was further confirmed by trial sequential analysis(TSA)(odds ratio[OR]:0.93;95%confidence interval[CI]:0.71–1.22;P=0.61;TSA adjusted CI:0.71–1.26).The rate of major bleeding was remarkably higher in the I-TA group than in the PA group,despite adjusting for TSA(OR:1.73;95%CI:1.15–2.60;P=0.009;TSA adjusted CI:1.09–2.58).RCTs have supported the beneficial effect of I-TA in reducing thrombotic events.After including all studies,mortality in the I-TA group was significantly higher than in the PA group(OR:1.38;95%CI:1.15–1.66;P=0.0005).The rate of major bleeding was similar to the analysis from RCTs(OR:2.24;95%CI:1.86–2.69;P<0.00001).There was no distinct difference in the rate of thrombotic events between the 2 regimen groups.In addition,in both critical and noncritical subgroups,I-TA failed to reduce mortality but increased major bleeding rate compared with PA,as shown in meta-analysis of all studies,as well as RCTs only.Meta-regression of all studies suggested that there was no relationship between the treatment effect and the overall risk of mortality or major bleeding(P=0.14,P=0.09,respectively).Conclusion:I-TA is not superior to PA for treating COVID-19 because it fails to lower the mortality rate but increases the major bleeding rate in both critical and noncritical patients.Mingyue Guo Qi Han Jiaxuan Xing Feng Xu Jiali Wang Chuanbao Li Zechen Shan Yuan Bian Hao Wang Li Xue Qiuhuan Yuan Chang Pan Yanshan De Xingfang Wang Panpan Hao Shengchuan Cao Jiaojiao Pang Yuguo Chen 2022Emergency and Critical Care Medicine2022,2,3:0
