1Effect of escape vents on retention and size selectivity of crab pots for swimming crab Portunus trituberculatus in the East China Sea显示文摘An increase in the crab pot fishery in the East China Sea has caused great pressure on swimming crab Portunus trituberculatus resources.Thus,it is essential to implement suitable measures to release sublegal-sized crabs to increase the number of recruits for legal-sized crabs.One of the measures considered is the installation of escape vents on crab pots.We tested crab pots with one and two escape vents and compared the catchability and size selectivity of these pots with control pots without an escape vent.Pots with one escape vent located on single side of the pot,top or bottom(SS),and another on both sides at top and bottom edges(BS)were tested in sea trial experiments following typical commercial fishing practice.The results show that both SS pots and BS pots caught significantly smaller number of sublegal-sized crabs(<116 mm carapace width,CW),but the difference in catch between the two types of crab pots is not significant.The 50%selective CWs(CW_(50))and the selective ranges(SRs)of both BS pots are slightly larger than those of SS pots.However,95%confidence intervals of CW_(50)s and SRs are overlapped,indicating that the discrepancy between them is small.Then,in a mixed effect model,the effect of locations of escape vents,taken as the fixed effect,on selectivity parameters and indexes was analyzed by hypothesis testing.The results show that null hypothesis of no effect of location of vents on size selectivity cannot be rejected,indicating that there is no significant difference in size selectivity between the two types of pots for P.trituberculatus.Jian Zhang Zhanwen Pei Pingguo He Jiangao Shi 2021Aquaculture and Fisheries2021,6,4:3
2The structure and mechanical property of silane-graftedpolyethylene/SiO_(2) nanocomposite fiber rope显示文摘The effect of vinyltrimethoxysilane(VTMS)graft and SiO_(2) on the structure and mechanical properties of silane-grafted-polyethylene/SiO_(2)(VTMS-g-PE/SiO_(2))nanocomposite fibers and ropes was studied.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Fourier transfer infrared(FT-IR),differential scanning calorimetry analysis(DSC)and tensile mechanical tests were performed to characterize the morphology,thermal and mechanical properties of nanocomposite fibers and ropes.The results revealed that the SiO_(2) nanoparticles were well dispersed throughout the polymeric matrix.With increasing SiO_(2) content,T_(m),the melt peak width and X_(c),degree of crystallinity,of VTMS-g-PE/SiO_(2) nanocomposite fibers increased.The breaking load and breaking strength of the nanocomposite fiber ropes were remarkably improved compared to pure PE fiber ropes and elongation at break was also decreased.Wenwen Yu Jiangao Shi Lumin Wang Xiaoxue Chen Minghua Min Lei Wang Yongli Liu 2017Aquaculture and Fisheries2017,2,1:2
3Rapid screening detection of fluoroquinolone residues in milk based on turn-on fluorescence of terbium coordination polymer nanosheets显示文摘We report a facile, effective and rapid screening method for the determination of total fluoroquinolones(FQs) in milk using lanthanide coordination polymer nanomaterials as the sensing platform. The nonluminescent coordination polymer nanosheets(CPNSs) used in this work are composed of adenosine monophosphate(AMP) and terbium(Tb^(3+)) ions(AMP/Tb CPNSs). The as-prepared CPNSs were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and fluorescence techniques. Tb^(3+) acts as the center ion of the coordination polymer, with AMP assembled through phosphate and amine groups. However, the reaction between FQs and AMP/Tb CPNSs noticeably turns on the fluorescence due to the strong coordination interaction between FQs and Tb^(3+). Under optimized conditions, the fluorescence intensity of AMP/Tb at 545 nm shows a linear relationship with FQ concentrations between 0.04 μmol/L and 5.0 μmol/L. The relative standard deviation(RSD) of the intraday precision is below 1%, and detection limits are as low as 0.01 μmol/L. 4Therapeutic developments in metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease显示文摘Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)has become one of the most prevalent chronic liver diseases worldwide,bringing risk of multiorgan disfunctions including cardiovascular events,complications of cirrhosis,and even malignance.In terms of health burden management,screening patients with high risk of MAFLD and providing individual comprehensive treatment is critical.Although there are numerous agents entering clinical trials for MAFLD treatment every year,there is still no effective approved drug.The nomenclature of MAFLD highlighted the concomitant metabolic disorders and obesity.MAFLD patients with type 2 diabetes had higher risk of developing liver cirrhosis and cancer,and would benefit from anti-hyperglycemic agents;overweight and obese patients may benefit more from weight loss therapies;for patients with metabolic syndrome,individual comprehensive management is needed to reduce the risk of adverse outcomes.In this review,we introduced the current status and advances of the treatment of MAFLD based on weight loss,improving insulin resistance,and management of cardiometabolic disorders,in order to provide individualized therapy approaches for patients with MAFLD.Yiwen Shi Jiangao Fan 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,,9:2

12Degradability evaluation for natural material fibre used on fish aggregation devices(FADs)in tuna purse seine fishery显示文摘Purse seiners deploy large amounts of drifting fish aggregation devices(FADs)in all tropical oceans to catch tunas.These FADs are constructed with porous synthetic fibre netting,which are responsible for incidental mortality of sea turtles and sharks through entanglement,and can engage in ghost fishing if they are lost and abandoned.The use of natural or biodegradable materials to build FADs can effectively mitigate marine pollution and bycatch issues,and as such they are currently promoted by fisheries management organizations.This study evaluated the degradability of ropes made of common natural fibres;cotton rope(3-strand,96-thread,twisted,S-lay),jute rope(3-strand,13-thread,twisted,Z-lay)and sisal rope(3-strand,8-thread,twisted,Z-lay).Degradability was evaluated by measuring the breaking strength(cN/dtex)and retention ratio of rupture elongation.Results showed that jute rope and sisal rope experienced rapid reduction of strength which over the first month soaking in the sea fell by 66.8%and 46.9%,respectively.Cotton rope exhibited the most inert degradation behavior,with breaking strength maintained at half of the initial value at 10 months.The retention ratio of rupture elongation for jute ropes and sisal ropes fluctuated considerably in the following months after deployment,compared to the relatively stable change for cotton rope.Results suggested that among these congeners,cotton rope would be most preferable component for Bio-FADs with a 10-month minimum durability that matches the required lifetime of FAD fishing strategies.Yucheng Wang Cheng Zhou Liuxiong Xu Rong Wan Jiangao Shi Xuefang Wang Hao Tang Lumin Wang Wenwen Yu Kai Wang 2021Aquaculture and Fisheries2021,6,4:1

17Low-field positive and high-field negative magneto-resistances in multiphase Fe-oxide thin films at room temperature显示文摘Multiphase Fe-oxide thin films are fabricated on glass substrates by a facing-target sputtering tech- nique. X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy reveal that Fe, Fe3BO4, γ -Fe2BO3B and FeO coexist in the films. High resolution transmission electron microscopy shows the well-defined colum- nar grain structure with the unoxidized Fe as the core and iron-oxide as the shell. The low-field positive and high-field negative magnetoresistances coexist in such a system at room temperature, which can be explained by considering a shell/core model.
