1Root microbiota shift in rice correlates with resident time in the field and developmental stage显示文摘Land plants in natural soil form intimate relationships with the diverse root bacterial microbiota. A growing body of evidence shows that these microbes are important for plant growth and health. Root microbiota composition has been widely studied in several model plants and crops; however, little is known about how root microbiota vary throughout the plant's life cycle under field conditions. We performed longitudinal dense sampling in field trials to track the time-series shift of the root microbiota from two representative rice cultivars in two separate locations in China. We found that the rice root microbiota varied dramatically during the vegetative stages and stabilized from the beginning of the reproductive stage, after which the root microbiota underwent relatively minor changes until rice ripening. Notably, both rice genotype and geographical location influenced the patterns of root microbiota shift that occurred during plant growth. The relative abundance of Deltaproteobacteria in roots significantly increased overtime throughout the entire life cycle of rice, while that of Betaproteobacteria, Firmicutes, and Gammaproteobacteria decreased. By a machine learning approach, we identified biomarker taxa and established a model to correlate root microbiota with rice resident time in the field(e.g., Nitrospira accumulated from 5 weeks/tillering in field-grown rice). 2Screening for gastric cancer in China:Advances,challenges and visions显示文摘Gastric cancer(GC)is one of the major cancers in China and all over the world.Most GCs are diagnosed at an advanced stage with unfavorable prognosis.Along with some other countries,China has developed the government-funded national screening programs for GC and other major cancers.GC screening has been shown to effectively decrease the incidence of and mortality from GC in countries adopting nationwide screening programs(Japan and Korea)and in studies based on selected Chinese populations.The screening of GC relies mostly on gastroendoscopy,the accuracy,reliability and safety of which have been indicated by previous studies.However,considering its invasive screening approach,requirements on skilled endoscopists and pathologists,and a high cost,developing noninvasive methods to amend endoscopic screening would be highly needed.Numerous studies have examined biomarkers for GC screening and the combination of biomarkers involving pepsinogen,gastrin,and Helicobacter pylori antibodies has been proposed for risk stratification,seeking to narrow down the high-risk populations for further endoscopy.Despite all the achievements of endoscopic screening,evidence on appropriate screening age,intervals for repeated screening,novel biomarkers promoting precision prevention,and health economics need to be accumulated to inform policymakers on endoscopic screening in China.With the guide of Health China 2030 Planning Outline,we have golden opportunities to promote prevention and control of GC.In this review,we summarize the characteristics of screening programs in China and other East Asian countries and introduce the past and current approaches and strategies for GC screening,aiming for featuring the latest advances and key challenges,and illustrating future visions of GC screening.Xiaohan Fan Xiangxiang Qin Yang Zhang Zhexuan Li Tong Zhou Jingying Zhang Weicheng You Wenqing Li Kaifeng Pan 2021Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2021,33,2:21
3The root microbiome:Community assembly and its contributions to plant fitness显示文摘The root microbiome refers to the community of microbes living in association with a plant's roots,and includes mutualists,pathogens,and commensals.Here we focus on recent advances in the study of root commensal community which is the major research object of microbiomerelated researches.With the rapid development of new technologies,plant-commensal interactions can be explored with unprecedented breadth and depth.Both the soil environment and the host plant drive commensal community assembly.The bulk soil is the seed bank of potential commensals,and plants use root exudates and immune responses to build healthy microbial communities from the available microbes.The plant microbiome extends the functional system of plants by participating in a variety of processes,including nutrient absorption,growth promotion,and resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses.Plants and their microbiomes have evolved adaptation strategies over time.However,there is still a huge gap in our understanding of the regulatory mechanisms of plant-commensal interactions.In this review,we summarize recent research on the assembly of root microbial communities and the effects of these communities on plant growth and development,and look at the prospects for promoting sustainable agricultural development through the study of the root microbiome.Bo Bai Weidong Liu Xingyu Qiu Jie Zhang Jingying Zhang Yang Bai 2022Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2022,64,2:13
4Human ACE2-Functionalized Gold“Virus-Trap”Nanostructures for Accurate Capture of SARS-CoV-2 and Single-Virus SERS Detection显示文摘The current COVID-19 pandemic urges the extremely sensitive and prompt detection of SARS-CoV-2 virus.Here,we present a Human Angiotensin-converting-enzyme 2(ACE2)-functionalized gold“virus traps”nanostructure as an extremely sensitive SERS biosensor,to selectively capture and rapidly detect S-protein expressed coronavirus,such as the current SARS-CoV-2 in the contaminated water,down to the single-virus level.Such a SERS sensor features extraordinary 106-fold virus enrichment originating from high-affinity of ACE2 with S protein as well as“virus-traps”composed of oblique gold nanoneedles,and 109-fold enhancement of Raman signals originating from multi-component SERS effects.Furthermore,the identification standard of virus signals is established by machine-learning and identification techniques,resulting in an especially low detection limit of 80 copies mL^(−1) for the simulated contaminated water by SARS-CoV-2 virus with complex circumstance as short as 5 min,which is of great significance for achieving real-time monitoring and early warning of coronavirus.Moreover,here-developed method can be used to establish the identification standard for future unknown coronavirus,and immediately enable extremely sensitive and rapid detection of novel virus.Yong Yang Yusi Peng Chenglong Lin Li Long Jingying Hu Jun He Hui Zeng Zhengren Huang Zhi-Yuan Li Masaki Tanemura Jianlin Shi John R.Lombardi Xiaoying Luo 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,7:6

6Cell cycle-related kinase reprograms the liver immune microenvironment to promote cancer metastasis显示文摘The liver is an immunologically tolerant organ and a common metastatic site of multiple cancer types.Although a role for cancer cell invasion programs has been well characterized,whether and how liver-intrinsic factors drive metastatic spread is incompletely understood.Here,we show that aberrantly activated hepatocyte-intrinsic cell cycle-related kinase(CCRK)signaling in chronic liver diseases is critical for cancer metastasis by reprogramming an immunosuppressive microenvironment.Using an inducible liverspecific transgenic model,we found that CCRK overexpression dramatically increased both B16F10 melanoma and MC38 colorectal cancer(CRC)metastasis to the liver,which was highly infiltrated by polymorphonuclear-myeloid-derived suppressor cells(PMNMDSCs)and lacking natural killer T(NKT)cells.Depletion of PMN-MDSCs in CCRK transgenic mice restored NKT cell levels and their interferon gamma production and reduced liver metastasis to 2.7% and 0.7%(metastatic tumor weights)in the melanoma and CRC models,respectively.Mechanistically,CCRK activated nuclear factor-kappa B(NF-κB)signaling to increase the PMN-MDSC trafficking chemokine C-X-C motif ligand 1(CXCL1),which was positively correlated with liver-infiltrating PMN-MDSC levels in CCRK transgenic mice.Accordingly,CRC liver metastasis patients exhibited hyperaaivation of hepatic CCRK/NF-κB/CXCL1 signaling,which was associated with accumulation of PMN-MDSCs and paucity of NKT cells compared to healthy liver transplantation donors.In summary,this study demonstrates that immunosuppressive reprogramming by hepatic CCRK signaling undermines antimetastatic immunosurveillance.Our findings offer new mechanistic insights and therapeutic targets for liver metastasis intervention.Xuezhen Zeng Jingying Zhou Zhewen Xiong Hanyong Sun Weiqin Yang Myth T.S.Mok Jing Wang Jingqing Li Man Liu Wenshu Tang Yu Feng Hector Kwong-Sang W ang Shun-Wa Tsang King-Lau Chow Philip Chun Yeung John Wong Paul Bo-San Lai Anthony Wing-Hung Chan Ka Fai To Stephen Lam Chan Qiang Xia Jing Xue Xiao Chen Jun Yu Sui Peng Joseph Jao-Yiu Sung Ming Kuang Alfred Sze-Lok Cheng 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,4:5
7A theranostic agent for cancer therapy and imaging in the second nearinfrared window显示文摘Thera no stic nano particles are integrated systems useful for simulta neous diag nosis and imaging guided delivery of therapeutic drugs, with wide ranging pote ntial applicati ons in the clinic. Here we developed a thera no stic nan oparticle (~24 nm size by dynamic light scatteri ng) p-FE-PTX-FA based on polymeric micelle encapsulating an organic dye (FE) fluorescing in the 1,000-1,700 nm second near-infrared (NIR-Ⅱ) window and an an ti-ca ncer drug paclitaxel. Folic acid (FA) was conjugated to the nan oparticles to afford specific binding to molecular folate receptors on muri ne breast can cer 4T1 tumor cells. In vivo, the nan oparticles accumulated in 4T1 tumor through both passive and active targeting effect. Under an 808 nm laser excitation, fluorescence detection above 1,300 nm afforded a large Stokes shift, allowing targeted molecular imaging tumor with high signal to background ratios, reaching a high tumor to normal tissue signal ratio (T/NT) of (20.0±2.3). Further, 4T1 tumors on mice were completed eradicated by paclitaxel released from p-FE-PTA-FA within 20 days of the first injection. Pharmacokinetics and histology studies indicated p-FE-PTX-FA had no obvious toxic side effects to major organs. 8The use of Career Growth Scale in Chinese nurses:Validity and reliability显示文摘Purpose:To test the validity and reliability of a modified Career Growth Scale(CGS)to assess nurse career growth.Method:A cross-sectional design was used to analyze the use of the CGS to survey 600 fulltime registered nurses from Grade A hospitals in Tianjin.Results:A modified scale we called Career Growth of Nurse Scale(CGNS)is acceptable,valid,and reliable for the evaluation of nurse career growth in Chinese hospitals.This scale measured three main factors(career goal,career capacity,and career opportunity)and showed that nurse career growth differed across age,work seniority,and professional title.Conclusions:A three-dimensional scale of nurse career growth was presented.The results revealed CGNS has good validity and reliability.Jingying Liu Jipeng Yang Yanhui Liu Yang Yang Hongfu Zhang 2015International Journal of Nursing Sciences2015,2,1:4
9Host-Associated Quantitative Abundance Profiling Reveals the Microbial Load Variation of Root Microbiome显示文摘Plant-associated microbes are critical for plant growth and survival under natural environmental conditions.To date,most plant microbiome studies involving high-throughput amplicon sequencing have focused on the relative abundance of microbial taxa.However,this technique does not assess the total microbial load and the abundance of individual microbes relative to the amount of host plant tissues.Here,we report the development of a host-associated quantitative abundance profiling(HA-QAP)method that can accurately examine total microbial load and colonization of individual root microbiome members relative to host plants by the copy-number ratio of microbial marker gene to plant genome.We validate the HAQAP method using mock experiments,perturbation experiments,and metagenomic sequencing.The HA-QAP method eliminates the generation of spurious outputs in the classical method based on microbial relative abundance,and reveals the load of root microbiome to host plants.Using the HA-QAP method,we found that the copy-number ratios of microbial marker genes to plant genome range from 1.07 to 6.61 for bacterial 16S rRNA genes and from 0.40 to 2.26 for fungal internal transcribed spacers in the root microbiome samples from healthy rice and wheat.Furthermore,using HA-QAP we found that an increase in total microbial load represents a key feature of changes in root microbiome of rice plants exposed to drought stress and of wheat plants with root rot disease,which significantly influences patterns of differential taxa and species interaction networks.Given its accuracy and technical feasibility,HA-QAP would facilitate our understanding of genuine interactions between root microbiome and plants.Xiaoxuan Guo Xiaoning Zhang Yuan Qin Yong-Xin Liu Jingying Zhang Na Zhang Kun Wu Baoyuan Qu Zishan He Xin Wang Xinjian Zhang Stephane Hacquard Xiangdong Fu Yang Bai 2020Plant Communications2020,1,1:3

11Online single particle measurement of fireworks pollution during Chinese New Year in Nanning显示文摘Time-resolved single-particle measurements were conducted during Chinese New Year in Nanning, China. Firework displays resulted in a burst of SO_2, coarse mode, and accumulation mode(100–500 nm) particles. Through single particle mass spectrometry analysis, five different types of particles(fireworks-metal, ash, dust, organic carbon-sulfate(OC-sulfate), biomass burning) with different size distributions were identified as primary emissions from firework displays. The fireworks-related particles accounted for more than70% of the total analyzed particles during severe firework detonations. The formation of secondary particulate sulfate and nitrate during firework events was investigated on single particle level. An increase of sulfite peak(80SO_3^-) followed by an increase of sulfate peaks(97HSO_4^-+ 96SO_4^-) in the mass spectra during firework displays indicated the aqueous uptake and oxidation of SO_2 on particles. High concentration of gaseous SO_2, high relative humidity and high particle loading likely promoted SO_2 oxidation. Secondary nitrate formed through gas-phase oxidation of NO_2 to nitric acid, followed by the condensation into particles as ammonium nitrate. 13Bi_2Se_3/C Nanocomposite as a New Sodium-Ion Battery Anode Material显示文摘Bi_2Se_3 was studied as a novel sodium-ion battery anode material because of its high theoretical capacity and high intrinsic conductivity. Integrated with carbon,Bi_2Se_3/C composite shows excellent cyclic performance and rate capability. For instance, the Bi_2Se_3/C anode delivers an initial capacity of 527 mAh g^(-10) at 0.1 A g^(-1) and maintains 89% of this capacity over 100 cycles. 16Highly time-resolved aerosol characteristics during springtime in Weizhou Island显示文摘A single particle aerosol mass spectrometer was deployed to measure the changes of single particle species and sizes during March 2015 in Weizhou Island of the Beibu Gulf, Guangxi province, South China. In this campaign, a total of 3,100,597 particles were sized, and 25.8%particles with both positive and negative mass spectrum were collected and 24.8%characterized in combination with the ART-2 a neural network algorithm. The distribution of sized particles was mainly in from 520 to 600 nm, and the diameters ranging from 340 to1000 nm accounted for above 90%. Eight types of particles were classified: Elemental Carbon containing(EC), Organic Carbon containing(OC), EC and OC combined containing particles,Na containing particles, K containing particles(K), Levoglucosan containing particles,mineral containing particles, and Heavy Metal containing particles(HM). EC, OC and K were the major containing particles, which accounted for 84.3% in the eight types particles. The relative ratio and size distribution of the three types were EC(48.1%, 620 nm), OC(12.7%,440 nm), and K(23.5%, 600 nm), respectively.
