3A large outbreak of acute gastroenteritis caused by the human norovirus GII.17 strain at a university in Henan Province,China显示文摘Background:Human noroviruses are a major cause of viral gastroenteritis and are the main etiological agents of acute gastroenteritis outbreaks.An increasing number of outbreaks and sporadic cases of norovirus have been reported in China in recent years.There was a large acute gastroenteritis outbreak at a university in Henan Province,China in the past five years.We want to identify the source,transmission routes of the outbreak by epidemiological investigation and laboratory testing in order to provide the effective control measures.Methods:The clinical cases were investigated,and analysed by descriptive epidemiological methods according to factors such as time,department,grade and so on.Samples were collected from clinical cases,healthy persons,the environment,water,and food at the university.These samples were tested for potential bacteria and viruses.The samples that tested positive for norovirus were selected for whole genome sequencing and the sequences were then analysed.Results:From 4 March to 3 April 2015,a total of 753 acute diarrhoea cases were reported at the university;the attack rate was 3.29%.The epidemic curve showed two peaks,with the main peak occurring between 10 and 20 March,accounting for 85.26%of reported cases.The rates of norovirus detection in samples from confirmed cases,people without symptoms,and environmental samples were 32.72%,17.39%,and 9.17%,respectively.The phylogenetic analysis showed that the norovirus belonged to the genotype GII.17.Conclusions:This is the largest and most severe outbreak caused by genotype GII.17 norovirus in recent years in China.The GII.17 viruses displayed high epidemic activity and have become a dominant strain in China since the winter of 2014,having replaced the previously dominant GII.4 Sydney 2012 strain.Xue-Yong Huang Jia Su Qian-Chao Lu Shi-Zheng Li Jia-Yong Zhao Meng-Lei Li Yi Li Xiao-Jing Shen Bai-Fan Zhang Hai-Feng Wang Yu-Jiao Mu Shu-Yu Wu Yan-Hua Du Li-Cheng Liu Wei-Jun Chen John David Klena Bian-Li Xu 2017Infectious Diseases of Poverty2017,6,1:10
4Seismogenesis and occurrence of earthquakes as observed by temporally continuous gravity variations in China显示文摘In the last decade and a half, a number of earthquakes of magnitude 4-5 have occurred in the Beijing_Tianjin_Tangshan_Zhangjiakou (BTTZ) region. On the basis of the analysis of the temporally continuous gravity variation data principally from the Baijiatuan (BJTN) semi_permanent gravity base station, a general picture of gravity variation related to the seismogenesis and occurrence of earthquakes has emerged.\;As gravity variation is generally observed on the earth’s surface, the predominant influence is that of the near_surface groundwater. The subsurface fluids are distributed throughout all depths in the crust and respond to the seismogenic processes of earthquakes as well. The influence of the subsurface fluid on gravity variation is, therefore, of equal importance. The fluids, which include the near_surface groundwater and the subsurface fluids distributed throughout all depths in the crust, play a more important role in the gravity variations in terms of the seismogenesis and occurrence of earthquakes than previously realized.\;The abundance of accumulated data shows that the dilatancy instability (IPE) model seems not applicable at least to the seismogenesis and occurrence of earthquakes in the BTTZ region. In order to reflect the physical reality, the earlier proposed combined dilatancy model requires modification. The seismogenic area in the BTTZ region may be modelled as a large pre_stressed volume of a fluid_filled poroelastic medium, including not only the pre_stressed volume surrounding the impending rupture zone but also the volume containing the rupture of the fault zone itself. The pre_stressed volume outside the impending rupture zone is under a state of relatively small change of the pre_existing regional tectonic stress, while the volume containing the impending rupture zone is an induced region of very high local stress concentration, and/or pore over_pressure.\;The calculated gravity variations based on the modified combined dilatancy model (MCDM) with the known physical parameters of the region resemble the observed residual gravity variations. Apparently the residual gravity variations, in addition to responding to the deep_seated seismogenesis and occurrence of earthquakes, predominantly respond to the near_surface groundwater, and the subsurface fluids, which themselves also respond to the seismogenesis and occurrence of earthquakes. On the basis of comparison between the calculated MCDM gravity variations and the observed residual gravity variations, the change of the regional tectonic stress field for the earthquakes of magnitude 4-5 in the BTTZ region could be approximately estimated to be in the neighbourhood of 5%-7%.\;It is apparent that simultaneously monitoring the temporally continuous variations of the near_surface groundwater, subsurface fluids, and gravity coupled with modelling would provide vital information on the history and evolution of the seismogenic processes about 10 months to 1 year prior to the occurrence of an earthquake of magnitude 4-5 and tens of years prior to that of an earthquake of magnitude 7-8 such as the Haicheng earthquake in 1975 and the Tangshan earthquake in 1976 in the BTTZ region. 5Effects of Dietary Net Energy Density and Standardized Ileal Digestible Lysine: Net Energy Ratio on the Performance and Carcass Characteristic of Growing-Finishing Pigs Fed Low Crude Protein Supplemented with Crystalline Amino Acids Diets显示文摘Two 3×3 factorial design trials with 1080 of Yorkshire×Landrace×Duroc barrows were conducted to investigate the effectsof dietary net energy (NE) density and standardized ileal digestible (SID) lysine:NE ratio on the performance of growing-finishing pigs and carcass characteristic of finishing pigs fed low crude protein (CP) supplemented with crystalline aminoacids (CAA) diets. Low CP corn-soybean meal basal diets (14% for Exp. 1 and 11% for Exp. 2) supplemented withcrystalline lysine, methionine, threonine, and tryptophan were formulated. Nine treatments with increasing NE densityand SID lysine:NE ratiowereused in each trial(Exp. 1: 9.66, 9.87, and 10.08 MJ kg-1 NE, 0.89, 0.96,and 1.03 g MJ-1 SID lysine:NE; Exp. 2: 9.83, 10.04, and 10.25 MJ kg-1 NE, 0.69, 0.76, and 0.83 g MJ-1 SID lysine:NE). In Exp. 1, we observed that theaverage daily gain (ADG) for barrows that received the diet containing 9.87 MJ kg-1 NE was significantly higher than thatof barrows fed a 9.66 MJ kg-1 NE diet (P<0.05), but no difference was observed when compared with barrows that receiveda diet containing 10.08 MJ kg-1 NE (P>0.05). TheADG was affected both linearly (P<0.05) and quadratically(P<0.05) as theSID lysine:NE ratio increased. The NE density or SID lysine:NE ratio and their interaction had no effect on the averagedaily feed intake (ADFI) and serum urea nitrogen (SUN) (P>0.05). The feed to gain ratio (F:G) decreased (linearly, P<0.05;quadratically, P<0.05) as the NE density or SID lysine:NE ratio increased, but no interaction of NE density and SID lysine:NE ratio on the F:G. In Exp. 2, the dietary NE density both linearly (P<0.05) and quadratically (P<0.05) affected the ADGand F:G. Barrows that received a diet containing 10.04 MJ kg-1 NE had a greater ADG (P<0.05) than barrows that receiveda 9.83 MJ kg-1 diet, but there was no difference (P>0.05) as compared with barrows that received a diet containing 10.25 MJkg-1 NE. F:G was significantly higher (P<0.05) for barrows that received a 9.83 MJ kg-1 diet when compared with barrowsthat received the other two diets. The ADG was significantly decreased (P<0.05) for pigs that received a diet containing0.69 g MJ-1 SID lysine:NE ratio when compared with pigs fed a diet containing 0.76 or 0.83 g MJ-1 SID lysine:NE ratio. TheNE density or SID lysine:NE ratio and their interaction had no effect on the average daily feed intake, SUN, and carcasscharacteristic for finishing barrows (P>0.05). 6A fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling and its applications显示文摘We propose a fundamental theorem for eco-environmental surface modelling(FTEEM) in order to apply it into the fields of ecology and environmental science more easily after the fundamental theorem for Earth’s surface system modeling(FTESM). The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei(BTH) region is taken as a case area to conduct empirical studies of algorithms for spatial upscaling, spatial downscaling, spatial interpolation, data fusion and model-data assimilation, which are based on high accuracy surface modelling(HASM), corresponding with corollaries of FTEEM. The case studies demonstrate how eco-environmental surface modelling is substantially improved when both extrinsic and intrinsic information are used along with an appropriate method of HASM. Compared with classic algorithms, the HASM-based algorithm for spatial upscaling reduced the root-meansquare error of the BTH elevation surface by 9 m. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial downscaling reduced the relative error of future scenarios of annual mean temperature by 16%. The HASM-based algorithm for spatial interpolation reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean precipitation by 0.2%. The HASM-based algorithm for data fusion reduced the relative error of change trend of annual mean temperature by 70%. The HASM-based algorithm for model-data assimilation reduced the relative error of carbon stocks by 40%. 7Global signatures of protein binding on structured RNAs in Saccharomyces cerevisiae显示文摘Protein binding is essential to the transport,decay and regulation of almost all RNA molecules.However,the structural preference of protein binding on RNAs and their cellular functions and dynamics upon changing environmental conditions are poorly understood.Here,we integrated various high-throughput data and introduced a computational framework to describe the global interactions between RNA binding proteins(RBPs)and structured RNAs in yeast at single-nucleotide resolution.We found that on average,in terms of percent total lengths,~15%of mRNA untranslated regions(UTRs),~37%of canonical non-coding RNAs(ncRNAs)and^11%of long ncRNAs(lncRNAs)are bound by proteins.The RBP binding sites,in general,tend to occur at single-stranded loops,with evolutionarily conserved signatures,and often facilitate a specific RNA structure conformation in vivo.We found that four nucleotide modifications of tRNA are significantly associated with RBP binding.We also identified various structural motifs bound by RBPs in the UTRs of mRNAs,associated with localization,degradation and stress responses.Moreover,we identified>200 novel lncRNAs bound by RBPs,and about half of them contain conserved secondary structures.We present the first ensemble pattern of RBP binding sites in the structured non-coding regions of a eukaryotic genome,emphasizing their structural context and cellular functions.YANG YuCheng UMETSU Jumpei LU Zhi John 2014Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,1:7

10Directly accessing octave-spanning dissipative Kerr soliton frequency combs in an AlN microresonator显示文摘Self-referenced dissipative Kerr solitons (DKSs) based on optical microresonators offer prominent characteristics allowing for various applications from precision measurement to astronomical spectrometer calibration. To date,direct octave-spanning DKS generation has been achieved only in ultrahigh-Q silicon nitride microresonators under optimized laser tuning speed or bi-directional tuning. Here we propose a simple method to easily access the octave-spanning DKS in an aluminum nitride (AlN) microresonator. In the design,two modes that belong to different families but with the same polarization are nearly degenerate and act as a pump and an auxiliary resonance,respectively. The presence of the auxiliary resonance can balance the thermal dragging effect,crucially simplifying the DKS generation with a single pump and leading to an enhanced soliton access window. We experimentally demonstrate the long-lived DKS operation with a record single-soliton step (10.4 GHz or83 pm) and an octave-spanning bandwidth (1100–2300 nm) through adiabatic pump tuning. 12Perfluoroalkyl substances and organochlorine pesticides in sediments from Huaihe watershed in China显示文摘Twelve perfluoroalkyl substances(PFASs) and nine organochlorine pesticides(OCPs) were quantified in surface sediments from the Huaihe River, China, along which there are intensive industrial and agricultural activities. Concentrations of PFASs ranged from 0.06 to 0.46 ng/g dry weight(dw), and concentrations of OCPs ranged from 1.48 to 32.65 ng/g dw. Compared with other areas in China, concentrations of PFASs were lesser than the national mean value, while concentrations of OCPs were moderate. Concentrations of perfluorooctanoic acid(PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate(PFOS) ranged from n.d.(not detected) to 0.03 and n.d. to 0.10 ng/g dw,respectively. Among the three groups of OCPs, mean concentrations of hexachlorocyclohexane and its isomers(HCHs), dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane and its metabolites(DDTs) and hexachlorobenzene(HCB) were 5.62 ± 4.35, 2.43 ± 3.12 and 1.55 ± 4.17 ng/g dw, respectively.Concentrations of HCHs and DDTs decreased from upstream to downstream along the mainstream of the Huaihe River. When compared to sediment quality guidelines(SQGs),concentrations of HCHs, DDTs and HCB would pose adverse biological effects. In general,contamination by PFASs in the upstream of the Huaihe River was more severe than that in the downstream, which was mainly caused by interception from dams, locks and industrial emissions. 14Non-genetic photoacoustic stimulation of single neurons by a tapered fiber optoacoustic emitter显示文摘Neuromodulation at high spatial resolution poses great significance in advancing fundamental knowledge in the field of neuroscience and offering novel clinical treatments.Here,we developed a tapered fiber optoacoustic emitter(TFOE)generating an ultrasound field with a high spatial precision of 39.6 pm,enabling optoacoustic activation of single neurons or subcellular structures,such as axons and dendrites.Temporally,a single acoustic pulse of sub-microsecond converted by the TFOE from a single laser pulse of 3 ns is shown as the shortest acoustic stimuli so far for successful neuron activation.The precise ultrasound generated by the TFOE enabled the integration of the optoacoustic stimulation with highly stable patch-clamp recording on single neurons.Direct measurements of the electrical response of single neurons to acoustic stimulation,which is difficult for conventional ultrasound stimulation,have been demonstrated.By coupling TFOE with ex vivo brain slice electrophysiology,we unveil cell-type-specific responses of excitatory and inhibitory neurons to acoustic stimulation.These results demonstrate that TFOE is a non-genetic single-cell and sub-cellular modulation technology,which could shed new insights into the mechanism of ultrasound neurostimulation.Linli Shi Ying Jiang Fernando R.Fernandez Guo Chen Lu Lan Heng-Ye Man John A.White Ji-Xin Cheng Chen Yang 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,8:4
15Morphological control of SnTe nanostructures by tuning catalyst composition显示文摘A method of controlling the morphology of SnTe nanostructures produced by a simple chemical vapor deposition is presented, in which Au-containing catalysts with different Au concentrations are used to induce specific growth behavior. Triangular SnTe nanoplates with a {100} dominated surface and {100}, {111} and {120} side facets were induced by AuSn catalysts, whereas 〈010〉 SnTe nanowires with four nonpolar {100} side-facets were produced using AusSn catalysts. Through detailed structural and chemical characterization, coupled with surface energy calculations, it is found that nanowire growth is thermodynamically controlled via a vapor-solid-solid growth mechanism, whereas nanoplate growth is kinetically controlled via a vapor-liquid-solid growth mechanism. 17Simplified full-depth precast concrete deck panel systems for accelerated bridge construction显示文摘A simplified full-depth precast concrete deck panel system for accelerating bridge construction(ABC) is introduced and a finite element analysis(FEA) is conducted to investigate the static and dynamic responses of this conceptual deck system. The FEA results are compared to those of the traditional full-depth precast concrete deck panel system. The comparison results show that the mechanical behavior of the new deck system is different from that of the traditional deck system. The concrete decks in the new system act as two-way slabs, instead of the one-way slab in the traditional system. Meanwhile, the connections in both the longitudinal and transverse directions may need to accommodate the negative moments.Compared to those in the traditional system, the longitudinal nominal stress at middle span increases a lot in the new deck system and the effective flange width varies significantly. 18Strategies to reduce nutrient pollution from manure management in China显示文摘As the demand for livestock products continues to increase in China,so too does the challenge of managing increasing quantities of manure.Urgent action is needed to control point source(housing,storage and processing)and diffuse(field application)pollution and improve the utilization of manure nutrients and organic matter.Here,we review strategies to improve management at each stage of the manure management chain and at different scales.Many strategies require infrastructure investment,e.g.,for containment of all manure fractions.Engineering solutions are needed to develop advanced composting systems with lower environmental footprints and design more efficient nutrient stripping technologies.At the field-scale,there is an urgent need to develop a manure nutrient recommendation system that accounts for the range of manure types,cropping systems,soils and climates throughout China.At the regional scale,coordinated planning is necessary to promote recoupling of livestock and cropping systems,and reduce nutrient accumulation in regions with little available landbank,while minimizing the risk of pollution swapping from one region to another.A range of stakeholders are needed to support the step change and innovation required to improve manure management,reduce reliance on inorganic fertilizers,and generate new business opportunities.David R.CHADWICK John R.WILLIAMS Yuelai LU Lin MA Zhaohai BAI Yong HOU Xinping CHEN Thomas H.MISSELBROOK 2020Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2020,7,1:4
19高速公路前置指路标志设置距离及其安全影响(英文)显示文摘为弥补我国现行规范和美国MUTCD2009关于高速公路前置指路标志设置距离经验主义的缺陷,首先分析了驾驶员驶离主线驾驶行为及前置指路标志设置距离的影响因素.车道数、车道宽度、车道变换时间、驾驶员的视觉特性、标志牌的架设方式以及主线和匝道上的运行速度对出口匝道安全性有显著影响.介绍了前置指路标志的3种架设方式,即路边直立式、路上横跨数和中央架设式,并给出了各自的适用条件.然后建模计算了不同道路几何条件和交通条件下各安装方式的设置距离,3种安装方式具有相同的模型结构.最后以路上横跨式为例,TSIS-CORSIM模拟结果表明,所给模型计算的设置距离在分流鼻上游500m范围内产生的车道变换数较少,比我国的现行规范少58.93%,比MUTCD推荐值少27.35%,因而具有更好的安全性能.郭唐仪 邓卫 侯建生 Lu John 2010Journal of Southeast University(English Edition)2010,26,4:3
20Cost-efficient Thermal Management for a 48V Li-ion Battery in a Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle显示文摘The 48V mild hybrid system is a cost-efficient solution for original equipment manufacturers to meet increasingly stringent fuel consumption requirements.However,hybrid functions such as auto-stop/start and brake regeneration are unavailablewhen a 48V battery is at very low temperature because of its limited charge and discharge capability.Therefore,it is important to develop cost-efficient thermal management to warm-up the battery of a 48V mild hybrid electric vehicle(HEV)to recover hybrid functions quickly in cold climate.Following the model-based“V”process,we first define the requirements and then design different mechanisms to heat a 48V battery.Afterward,we build a 48V battery model in LMS AMESim and conduct co-simulation with simplified battery management system and hybrid control unit algorithms in MATLAB Simulink for analysis.Finally,we carry out a series of vehicle experiments at low temperature and observe the effect of heating to validate the design.Both simulation results and experimental data show that a cold 48V battery placed in a cabin with hot air can be heated effectively in the developed“Enhanced Generator Mode with 48V Battery”mode.The entire design is in a newly developed software that cyclically charges and discharges a 48V battery for quick warm-up in cold temperature without needing any additional hardware such as a heater,making it a cost-efficient solution for HEVs.Chao Yu Guangji Ji Chao Zhang John Abbott Mingshen Xu Pieter Ramaekers Jianxiang Lu 2018Automotive Innovation2018,1,4:3
