SO_(4)^(2-)-modified La,Y-doped ceria-zirconia with high oxygen storage capacity and its application in Pd-only three-way catalysts显示文摘As the oxygen redox ability shows great effects on the catalytic performances of ceria-zirconia based materials, many strategies have been utilized to improve the oxygen storage capacity. Here in this study,we report a simple and facile approach to prepare a SO_(4)^(2-)-modified La,Y-doped ceria-zirconia material(SO/CZLY-f)with high oxygen storage capacity.Due to the additional redox process between SO_(4)^(2-)and S^(2-),oxygen storage capacity of SO/CZLY-f(745.3μmol O_(2)/g)is about 1.6 times higher than that of La,Ydoped ceria-zirconia material without SO_(4)^(2-)modification.Moreover,the catalytic activities and stability of the corresponding Pd-only three-way catalyst were measured.Compared to that of Pd@CZLY-f,the operation window of CO,full conversion temperature of HC and NO over Pd@SO/CZLY-f are obviously widened and lowered, respectively. After aging treatment at 1100℃for 4 h,the superiority of aged Pdloading composite is still maintained. | Hao Wang Yongke Hou Yongqi Zhang Meisheng Cui Fang Chen Xiaowei Huang Juanyu Yang Zongyu Feng | 2022 | Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,5: | 2
Failure analysis of pouch-type Li–O2 batteries with superior energy density显示文摘Li–O2 batteries have attracted significant interest in the past decade owing to their superior high specific energy density in contrast to conventional lithium ion batteries. An 8.7-Ah Li–O2 pouch cell with768.5 Wh kg^-1 was fabricated and characterized in this investigation and the factors that influenced the electrochemical performance of the Li–O2 pouch cell were studied. In contrast to coin/Swagelok-type Li–O2 cells,it was demonstrated that the high-loading air electrode, pulverization of the Li anode, and the large-scale inhomogeneity of the large pouch cell are the major reasons for the failure of Li–O2 batteries with Ah capacities. In addition, safety tests of large Li–O2 pouch cells were conducted for the first time, including nail penetration, crushing, and thermal stability. It was indicated that a self-limiting mechanism is a key safety feature of these batteries, even when shorted. In this study,Li–O2 batteries were investigated in a new size and capacity-scale,which may provide useful insight into the development of practical pouch-type Li–O2 batteries. | Shangqian Zhao Li Zhang Gangning Zhang Haobo Sun Juanyu Yang Shigang Lu | 2020 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,6: | 2

Enhanced thermal stability of Ce_(0.33)Zr_(0.55)(LaNdY)_(0.12)O_(2) mixed oxides prepared by sulfate-aided coprecipitation method显示文摘Ceria-zirconia based mixed oxides(CZs)have been applied in three-way catalysts(TWCs)for their high surface area and oxygen storage capacity(OSC).In this work, enhanced thermal stability of Ce_(0.33)Zr_(0.55)(LaNdY)_(0.12)O_(2)mixed oxides was realized via a facile and scalable approach, namely, sulfateaided coprecipitation method was labelled as CZ-S.Sulfate ion(SO_(4)^(2-))was added into raw solution in the form of sulfuric acid and acted as coordination agent. The control sample was prepared by conventional coprecipitation method without sulfuric acid added and labelled as CZ.The promotion effect of sulfate ion was analyzed systematically by X-ray diffraction(XRD),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),N_(2)adsorption-desorption,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),OSC and hydrogen temperatureprogrammed reduction(H_(2)-TPR)analysis.XRD and high resolution TEM results reveal that CZ-S have homogeneous distributions of elements.TEM and SEM images show that fresh samples of CZ-S have narrower distributions of grain sizes and larger pore sizes than those of CZ.Through cross analysis of structure and morphology of CZ and CZ-S,we find that the introduction of sulfate ions results in uniform distributions of elements, narrows distributions of grain sizes, and enables the formation of secondary loose packing of sub-particles,which lead to enhanced thermal stability of the samples of CZ-S upon aging process at high temperature. After aging treatment at 1100℃for 10 h,aged samples of CZ-S present larger specific surface areas and pore volumes than the aged sample prepared by conventional coprecipitation method without sulfate ions added.Furthermore, the aged sample of CZ-S2(SO_(4)^(2-)/Zr=1)possesses the highest specific surface area of 21.9 m2/g and the biggest pore volume of 0.035 mL/g among all aged samples. | Shilei Chen Yongke Hou Hao Wang Zheng Zhao Yongqi Zhang Juanyu Yang Xiaowei Huang | 2021 | Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,5: | 0
Preparation of high-purity straight silicon nanowires by molten salt electrolysis显示文摘Silicon nanowires of high purity and regular morphology are of prime importance to ensure high specific capacities of lithium-ion batteries and reproducible electrode assembly process.Using nickel formate as a metal catalyst precursor, straight silicon nanowires(65–150 nm in diameter)were directly prepared by electrolysis from the Ni/SiO2 porous pellets with 0.8 wt%nickel content in molten CaCl2 at 900℃.Benefiting from their straight appearance and high purity, the silicon nanowires therefore offered an initial coulombic efficiency of 90.53% and specific capacity of 3377 m Ah/g.In addition, the silicon nanowire/carbon composite exhibited excellent cycle performance, retaining 90.38%of the initial capacity after 100 cycles.Whilst further study on the charge storage performance is still ongoing, these preliminary results demonstrate that nickel formate is an efficient and effective metal catalyst precursor for catalytic preparation of high purity straight silicon nanowires via the molten salt electrolysis, which is suitable for large-scale production. | Jie Zhang Sheng Fang Xiaopeng Qi Zhanglong Yu Zhaohui Wu Juanyu Yang Shigang Lu | 2020 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,1: | 0
Reaction between tetravalent cerium ion and chloride ion and effect of thiourea using cyclic voltammetry显示文摘To monitor the reaction between Ce^(4+) ion and Cl-ion at the electron level,an electrochemical experiment was designed in this work.Herein, the intermediate and final products that may be produced during the redox reaction are directly tracked by using cyclic voltammetry, and the influences of Ce^(4+) ion concentration, temperatu re and F-ion on the reduction peak potential of Ce^(4+) ion were investigated. The results show that Ce^(4+) ion reacts with Cl-ion through an irreversible reaction without any intermediate products, and the rate-determining step of the reaction is diffusion during the electrode reaction. The effects of temperature(20-40℃) and Ce^(4+) ion concentration(0.04-0.12 mol/L) on the reduction peak pote ntial of Ce^(4+) ion can be ignored, but the higher the molar ratio of F-to Ce^(4+)(0-3 mol/mol),the mo re easily the reduction of Ce^(4+) ion to Ce^(3+) ion occurs.Additionally, the Ce^(4+) ions are preferentially reduced by thiourea when thiourea is added in the HCl solution, and thiourea inhibits the oxidation of Cl-ions to Cl_(2) by forming a complex with Cl-ions.This work provides a theoretical basis for the role of thiourea in inhibiting Cl_(2) production and offers a new way to find new reductants. | Deliang Meng Xiaowei Huang Zongyu Feng Meng Wang Juanyu Yang Chao Xia Yanyan Zhao Yuqing Wei | 2022 | Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,10: | 0
Tailoring thermal stability of ceria-zirconia mixed oxide by doping of rare earth elements:From theory to experiment显示文摘Ceria-zirconia mixed oxides(CZMO)are widely used in many important catalysis fields. However, pure CZMO is known to have poor thermal stability. In this paper,a strategy was proposed to design Ce_(0.475)Zr_(0.475)M_(0.05)O_(2)(M=La,Y,Pr,Nd,Pm,Sm,Eu,Gd,Tb,Er,Lu,and,Yb)oxide surface with high thermal stability by using first-principles molecular dynamics(FPMD)simulation and experiment method.Through the structure stability analysis at different temperatures, the surface energyγas a function of R_(ion)/D_(ave)is identified as a quantitative structure descriptor for analyzing the doping effect of rare earth(RE)elements on the thermal stability of Ce_(0.475)Zr_(0.475)M_(0.05)O_(2).By doping the suitable RE,γcan be adjusted to the optimal range to enhance the thermal stability of Ce_(0.475)Zr_(0.475)M_(0.05)O_(2).With this strategy,it can be predicted that the sequence of thermal stability improvement is Y>La>Gd>Nd>Pr>Pm>Sm>Eu>Tb>Er>Yb>Lu,which was further verified by our experiment results. After thermal treatment at 1100℃for 10 h,the specific surface area(SSA)of aged Y-CZ and La-CZ samples can reach 21.34 and 19.51 m~2/g,which is 63.02%and 49.04%higher than the CZMO sample without doping because the surface doping of Y and La is in favor of inhibiting the surface atoms thermal displacement. In a word, the strategy proposed in this work can be expected to provide a viable way for designing the highly efficient CZMO materials in extensive applications and promoting the usages of the high-abundance rare-earth elements Y and La. | Zheng Zhao Xiaowei Huang Yongqi Zhang Juanyu Yang Meisheng Cui Yongke Hou Zongyu Feng | 2022 | Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,8: | 0
