| 1 | Air-sea heat flux exchange over the South China Sea under different weather conditions before and after southwest monsoon onset in 2000显示文摘With the data observed from the Second SCS Air-Sea Flux Experiment on the Xisha air-sea flux research tower, the radiation budget, latent, sensible heat fluxes and net oceanic heat budgetswere caculated before and after summer monsoon onset. It is discovered that, after summer monsoononset, there are considerable changes in air-sea fluxes, especially in latent heat fluxes and net oceanicheat budget. Furthermre, the analyzed results of five synoptic stages are compared. And the character-istics of the flux transfer during different stages around onset of South China Sea monsoon are discussed.The flux change shows that there is an oceanic heat accumulating process during the pre-onset and thebreak period, as same as oceanic heat losing process during the onset period. Moreover, latent fluxes,the water vapor moving to the continent, even the rainfall appearance in Chinese Mainland also can beinfluenced by southwester. Comparing Xisha fluxes with those obtained from the Indian Ocean and thewestern Pacific Ocean, their differences may be obeerved. | 2 | A WiFi Fingerprint Based High-Adaptability Indoor Localization via Machine Learning显示文摘For received signal strength(RSS)fingerprint based indoor localization approaches,the localization accuracy is significantly influenced by the RSS variance,device heterogeneity and environment complexity.In this work,we present a high-adaptability indoor localization(HAIL)approach,which leverages the advantages of both relative RSS values and absolute RSS values to achieve robustness and accuracy.Particularly,a backpropagation neural network(BPNN)is devised in HAIL to measure the fingerprints similarities based on absolute RSS values.With this aid,the characteristics of the applied area could be specially learned such that HAIL could be adaptive to different environments.The experiments demonstrate that HAIL achieves high localization accuracy with the average localization error of 0.87 m in the typical environments.Moreover,HAIL has the minimum amount of large errors and decreases the average localization error by about 30%~50%compared with the existing approaches. | Jianzhe Xue Junyu Liu Min Sheng Yan Shi Jiandong Li | 2020 | China Communications2020,17,7: | 5 |
| 3 | Characterization of VOC emissions from construction machinery and river ships in the Pearl River Delta of China显示文摘Speciated characterization of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs),including oxygenated VOCs (OVOCs),from construction machinery and river ships in China is currently lacking.In this regard,we conducted field measurement on speciated VOC (including OVOC) emissions from six construction machinery and five river ships in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region to identify VOC emission characteristics.We noticed that OVOC emissions from construction machinery and ships accounted for more than 50%of the total VOC emissions,followed by alkenes,aromatics and alkanes.Formaldehyde and acetaldehyde were the most emission species,accounting for 61.8%-83.2%of OVOCs.For construction machinery,the fuel-based emission factors of roller,grader and pile driver were 3.12,3.12 and 7.36 g/kg,respectively.With the rigorous restraint by the national emission standards,VOC emissions of construction machinery had decreased considerably,especially during stageⅢ.Ozone formation potential was also significantly reduced due to the significant decrease in emissions of OVOCs and alkenes with higher reactivity.For river ships,the fuel-based emission factors of cargo ships and speedboat were 1.46 and 0.44 g/kg,respectively.VOC emissions from construction machinery and river ships in Guangdong Province in 2017 were 8851.0 and 4361.0 ton,respectively.This study filled the knowledge gaps of reactive gas emissions from different kinds of non-road mobile sources over the PRD,and more importantly,highlighted the necessity in adding OVOC measurement to give a complete and accurate depiction of reactive gas emissions from non-road mobile sources. | Richao Wang Zibing Yuan Junyu Zheng Cheng Li Zhijiong Huang Wenshi Li Yan Xie Yiran Wang Kaiyang Yu Lejun Duan | 2020 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,10: | 5 |
| 4 | Efficient synthesis of lithium rare-earth tetrafluoride nanocrystals via a continuous flow method显示文摘As an important upconversion illuminant material, LiREF4 nanocrystals were efficiently synthesized in a continuous reactor with the assistant of a new precursor solution. The employed trioctylamine solvent in the solution had a strong interaction with HF, and helped to avoid the generation of unnecessary solid components as LiF and NH4REF4 during the reaction. A silicon carbide reactor was developed to carry out the synthesis reaction, where LiYF4:Yb,Er/Ho/Tm quickly nucleated in 5 min at 300℃. The reaction time to successfully prepare 15 nm sized nanocrystals was less than 30 min, and the space-time yield of the flow synthesis method was 14.8 times that of a control group batch reaction. | 6 | Numerical Simulation of Water and Sand Blowouts When Penetrating Through Shallow Water Flow Formations in Deep Water Drilling显示文摘In this study, we applied a two-phase flow model to simulate water and sand blowout processes when penetrating shallow water flow(SWF) formations during deepwater drilling. We define ‘sand' as a pseudo-component with high density and viscosity, which can begin to flow with water when a critical pressure difference is attained. We calculated the water and sand blowout rates and analyzed the influencing factors from them, including overpressure of the SWF formation, as well as its zone size, porosity and permeability, and drilling speed(penetration rate). The obtained data can be used for the quantitative assessment of the potential severity of SWF hazards. The results indicate that overpressure of the SWF formation and its zone size have significant effects on SWF blowout. A 10% increase in the SWF formation overpressure can result in a more than 90% increase in the cumulative water blowout and a 150% increase in the sand blowout when a typical SWF sediment is drilled. Along with the conventional methods of well flow and pressure control, chemical plugging, and the application of multi-layer casing, water and sand blowouts can be effectively reduced by increasing the penetration rate. | 7 | Efficiency of cotton bollworm (Helicoverpa armigera Hübner) control of different Bt cotton varieties in North China显示文摘Background: The cotton bollworm(Helicoverpa armigera) is one of cotton's most destructive insect pests in terms of yield and quality. Since 1997, China has grown commercially available transgenic Bacillus thuringiensis(Bt) cotton. We aimed to investigate the variation in resistance of transgenic Bt cotton varieties to cotton bollworm in North China.Methods: Populations of cotton bollworm were monitored from 2008 to 2015 in environments where Bt cotton was planted adjacent to other non-Bt crops. The study included 197 Bt cotton varieties planted in 42 counties/locations in three provinces(Hebei, Shandong and Henan) of North China, which were evaluated through field investigations,bioassays, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays(ELISA).Results: The average number of cotton bollworms never exceeded the action threshold(10 larvae per 100 cotton plants), however, their number reached 19.55 per 100 cotton plants in 2011. The ratios of damaged plants to total Bt cotton stem-tips, buds, and bolls was low except in 2010, when the ratios reached 1.82%, 2.09%, and 10.63%,respectively. The results of bioassay showed that the corrected mortality were higher at the second generation cotton bollworm stage than the third and fourth germination stages. | 11 | Haemorrhage risk of brain arteriovenous malformation during pregnancy and puerperium显示文摘Background This study aimed to assess whether pregnancy and puerperium were associated with the risk of brain arteriovenous malformation(bAVM)haemorrhage.Methods A retrospective review was conducted in Xiangya Hospital,Central South University from January 2012 to December 2021.A case-crossover design was adopted to calculate the incidence density of bAVM-related haemorrhage among female patients in risk(pregnancy and puerperium)and control(non-pregnancy and non-puerperium)periods,according to four scenarios observed in different populations scenario I:patients with haemorrhagic bAVM of all ages;scenario II:patients with haemorrhagic bAVM of all ages,with at least one previous pregnancy;scenario III:patients with haemorrhagic bAVM who are of reproductive age(15-45 years);scenario IV:patients with haemorrhagic bAVM of reproductive age(15-45 years),with at least one previous pregnancy.Next,a comprehensive literature aggregation(up to April 2022)was performed for evidence synthesis.Results Among the 311 female patients with haemorrhagic bAVM,a significant haemorrhage risk during pregnancy and puerperium was found in Scenarios I(relative risk[RR],2.08;95%CI,1.28 to 3.39),II(RR,3.21;95%CI,1.95 to 5.31)and IV(RR,2.92;95%CI,1.73 to 4.93);however,a suggestive risk was found in scenario III(RR,1.62;95%CI,0.99 to 2.67).Evidence synthesis revealed a consistent haemorrhage risk among patients of all ages(RR,3.15;95%CI,1.93 to 5.15)and those of reproductive age(RR,1.29;95%CI,0.89 to 1.86).Conclusion Compared with most previous studies,a higher but relatively moderate risk for bAVM-related haemorrhage was identified during pregnancy and puerperium.Individualised prevention and treatment strategies should be preferred when neurosurgeons make clinical decisions. | Junyu Liu Honghao Zhang Chun Luo Yuxin Guo Yifeng Li Dun Yuan Weixi Jiang Junxia Yan | 2023 | Stroke & Vascular Neurology2023,8,4: | 1 |
| 12 | Mechanical and Biotribological Properties of PVA/SB Triple-Network Hydrogel for Biomimetic Artificial Cartilage显示文摘Poly (vinyl alcohol) hydrogel has been perceived as a promising replacement for articular cartilage due to its superior water-absorption ability and excellent biocompatibility, but its mechanical properties are still insufficient. In this study, the poly (vinyl alcohol)/sodium tetraborate triple-network (PVA/SB TN) hydrogel was developed by repeated freeze–thaw method. Scanning electron microscopy images demonstrated that the structure of as-prepared hydrogels was three-dimensional porous network structure similar to that of natural articular cartilage. Compared to the pure PVA hydrogel, the mechanical performance of the PVA/SB TN hydrogels were improved by 116% and 461% in tensile and compressive strengths, respectively. This was mainly because that the complexation reaction between the PVA and SB strengthened the stability of the hydrogel network. Notably, the biotribological performance of PVA hydrogel has also been improved significantly. Even at high load, the friction coefficient of the PVA/SB TN hydrogel was both very low in calf serum or deionized water. | 18 | Study on creep deformation and energy development of underground surrounding rock under four‐dimensional support显示文摘There is an urgent need to develop optimal solutions for deformation control of deep high‐stress roadways,one of the critical problems in underground engineering.The previously proposed four‐dimensional support(hereinafter 4D support),as a new support technology,can set the roadway surrounding rock under three‐dimensional pressure in the new balanced structure,and prevent instability of surrounding rock in underground engineering.However,the influence of roadway depth and creep deformation on the surrounding rock supported by 4D support is still unknown.This study investigated the influence of roadway depth and creep deformation time on the instability of surrounding rock by analyzing the energy development.The elastic strain energy was analyzed using the program redeveloped in FLAC3D.The numerical simulation results indicate that the combined support mode of 4D roof supports and conventional side supports is highly applicable to the stability control of surrounding rock with a roadway depth exceeding 520 m.With the increase of roadway depth,4D support can effectively restrain the area and depth of plastic deformation in the surrounding rock.Further,4D support limits the accumulation range and rate of elastic strain energy as the creep deformation time increases.4D support can effectively reduce the plastic deformation of roadway surrounding rock and maintain the stability for a long deformation period of 6 months.As confirmed by in situ monitoring results,4D support is more effective for the long‐term stability control of surrounding rock than conventional support. | Zhanguo Ma Junyu Sun Peng Gong Pengfei Yan Nan Cui Ruichong Zhang | 2024 | Deep Underground Science and Engineering2024,3,1: | 0 |

| 20 | Prediction of high-density polyethylene pyrolysis using kinetic parameters based on thermogravimetric and artificial neural networks显示文摘Pyrolysis is considered an attractive option and a promising way to dispose waste plastics.The thermogravimetric experiments of high-density polyethylene(HDPE)were conducted from 105℃ to 900℃ at different heating rates(10℃/min,20℃/min,and 30℃/min)to investigate their thermal pyrolysis behavior.We investigated four methods including three model-free methods and one modelfitting method to estimate dynamic parameters.Additionally,an artificial neural network model was developed by providing the heating rates and temperatures to predict the weight loss(wt.%)of HDPE,and optimized via assessing mean squared error and determination coefficient on the test set.The optimal MSE(2.6297×10^(−2))and R^(2) value(R^(2)>0.999)were obtained.Activation energy and preexponential factor obtained from four different models achieves the acceptable value between experimental and predicted results.The relative error of the model increased from 2.4%to 6.8%when the sampling frequency changed from 50 s to 60 s,but showed no significant difference when the sampling frequency was below 50 s.This result provides a promising approach to simplify the further modelling work and to reduce the required data storage space.This study revealed the possibility of simulating the HDPE pyrolysis process via machine learning with no significant accuracy loss of the kinetic parameters.It is hoped that this work could potentially benefit to the development of pyrolysis process modelling of HDPE and the other plastics. | Xiaoxiao Yin Junyu Tao Guanyi Chen Xilei Yao Pengpeng Luan Zhanjun Cheng Ning Li Zhongyue Zhou Beibei Yan | 2023 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2023,17,1: | 0 |
