7A study of laparoscopic extraperitoneal sigmoid colostomy after abdomino-perineal resection for rectal cancer显示文摘Objective:To established a procedure for laparoscopic extraperitoneal ostomy after abdomino-perineal resection(APR)and study safety aspects and complications.Method:From July 2011 to July 2012,36 patients with low rectal cancer undergoing APR were included in the study and divided into extraperitoneal ostomy group(n=18)and intraperitoneal ostomy group(n=18).Short-and long-term complications were compared between the two groups.All patients were followed up and the median duration was 17 months(range:12-24).Results:The rates of short-term complication related to colostomies were comparable between the two groups,except the rate for stoma edema was higher in the extraperitoneal group(33.3%vs 0%;P=0.008).In the intraperitoneal ostomy group,two patients developed stoma prolapse,one had stoma stenosis,and two had parastomal hernia.In contrast,no long-term complications related to colostomies occurred in the extraperitoneal ostomy group.The rate of long-term complication was lower in the extraperitoneal ostomy group(0%vs 22.2%;P=0.036).Conclusion:The laparoscopic extraperitoneal ostomy is a relatively simple and safe procedure,with fewer long-term complications related to colostomy.However the follow-up period was not too long and needs to be extended.Jin Heiying Du Yonghong Wang Xiaofeng Yao Hang Wu Kunlan Zhang Bei Zhang Jinhao Leng Qiang 2014Gastroenterology Report2014,2,1:1

12Ethical framework on risk governance of synthetic biology显示文摘Synthetic biology is an emerging multidisciplinary field that aims to design and construct new biological systems not found in nature.Whereas synthetic biology may yield tremendous benefits,it may also pose substantial risks to human health and the environment that must be addressed.In this paper,we examined the environmental risks associated with synthetic biology,including changes to or depletion of the environment,competition with native species,horizontal gene transfer,pathogenicity or toxicity,bioterrorism,and laboratory biosecurity.We highlight three approaches for assessing environmental risks in synthetic biology:solution-focused risk assessment,Bayesian networks,and network of networks for sustainable capacity building.An ethical governance framework is proposed to facilitate innovation while minimising risks.This framework emphasises the precautionary principle and balancing stakeholder interests prior to project development and commercialisation.Overall,we underscore the importance and urgency of assessing and managing the environmental risks of synthetic biology to ensure its safe and ethical development and application.Liao Bohua Wang Yuexin Ou Yakun Zuo Kunlan Liu Huan Lei Ruipeng 2023Journal of Biosafety and Biosecurity2023,5,2:0

14Physiological and Molecular Analyses of Low-Salinity Stress Response in the Cuttlefish(Sepia pharaonis)Juveniles显示文摘As a stenohaline species,the survival of Sepia pharaonis can be affected by salinity significantly.This study aimed to explore the function of decreasing salinity on the survival of Sepia pharaonis,which can provide an advanced production guide on the culture of S.pharaonis in the rainy season.Salinity was gradually decreased from 29 to 22 within 48 h to acclimate S.pharaonis to a low-salinity environment.After ten days of breeding under low-salinity of 22,the death rate was high.In this process,changes in tissue and cell structures in the larval liver,biochemical indicators,and osmoregulation-related gene expression were examined.In-terestingly,hepatocytes in the low-salinity group were irregular,had dissolved tissue inclusions,and contained vacuolized cells.There-fore,low salinity caused severe damages at a cellular level that can elevate the mortality rate.A gradual decline in salinity limited the full adaptation of S.pharaonis.Biochemical indicators and osmoregulation-related gene expression changed similarly.For instance,the trend of malondialdehyde(MAD)as a product of lipid peroxidation reflected the degree of damage to the body by free radicals.The antioxidant system of S.pharaonis could cope with oxidative stress caused by the change in salinity to a certain extent.Osmo-regulation-related genes’expression also showed an optimistic result,that is,S.pharaonis responded positively to the change in sali-nity by adjusting the expression of osmoregulation-related genes.Conversely,the increase in mortality at day 10 also proved the weak adaptation capability of S.pharaonis.This study indicated that S.pharaonis can adapt to a low-salinity environment with a li-mited extent.XIN Hongwei WU Kunlan YUAN Yimeng ZHAO Yun SONG Weiwei WANG Chunlin MU Changkao LI Ronghua 2022Journal of Ocean University of China2022,21,4:0
15Effects of formaldehyde on fermentable sugars production in the low-cost pretreatment of corn stalk based on ionic liquids显示文摘Low cost processing of lignocellulosic biomass is of great importance for sustainable chemistry and engineering.Herein,a low cost system composed of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride([C_(4)C_(1) im]Cl),HCl and formaldehyde(FA)was developed for the pretreatment of corn stalk at 80℃.The efficiency of this technology was compared with that in dioxane system or without FA addition.Due to FA stabilization,the extent of acid-hydrolysis of carbohydrate fraction can be significantly decreased while 70%above of lignin was removed with the pretreatment of[C_(4)C_(1) im]Cl/HCl/FA system at 80℃for 2 h.A maximum reducing sugar yield of 93.7%and glucose concentration of 7.0 mg·ml^(-1) were subsequently obtained from enzymatic hydrolysis of the slurry.There were great differences in compositions of small molecule degraded products obtained with FA addition or not.The present[C_(4)C_(1) im]C_(l) based system exhibits great potential of substituting volatile organic solvents(i.e.dioxane)in developing low cost lignocellulosic biomass pretreatment at low temperature.Also,this work would gain insight into understanding on the roles of stabilization methods on the economic improvement of IL based biomass processing.Kaili Zhang Ligang Wei Qingqin Sun Jian Sun Kunlan Li Shangru Zhai Qingda An Junwang Zhang 2022Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,35,2:0
