1Enhanced removal of ethylbenzene from gas streams in biotrickling filters by Tween-20 and Zn(Ⅱ)显示文摘The effects of Tween-20 and Zn(II)on ethylbenzene removal were evaluated using two biotrickling filters(BTFs),BTF1 and BTF2.Only BTF1 was fed with Tween-20 and Zn(II).Results show that ethylbenzene removal decreased from 94%to 69%for BTF1 and from 74%to 54%for BTF2 with increased organic loading from 64.8 to 189.0 g ethylbenzene/(m3·hr)at EBRT of 40 sec.The effect of EBRT(60–15 sec)at a constant ethylbenzene inlet concentration was more significant than that of EBRT(30–10 sec)at a constant organic loading.Biomass accumulation rate within packing media was reduced significantly.Lu Wang Chunping Yang Yan Cheng Jian Huang Haining Yang Guangming Zeng Li Lu Shanying He 2014Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,12:8

3Induction of embryonic stem cells to hematopoietic cells in vitro显示文摘In order to get hematopoietic cells from embryonic stem (ES) cells and to study development mechanisms of hematopoietic cells, the method of inducing embryonic stem cells to hematopoietic cells was explored by differenciating mouse ES cells and human embryonic cells in three stages. The differentiated cells were identified by flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry and Wright’s staining. The results showed that embryoid bodies (EBs) could form when ES cells were cultured in the medium with 2-mercaptoethanol (2-ME). However, cytokines, such as stem cell factor (SCF), thrombopoietin (TPO), interleukin-3 (IL-3), interleukin-6 (IL-6), erythropoietin (EPO) and granular colony stimulating factor (G-CSF), were not helpful for forming EBs. SCF, TPO and embryonic cell conditional medium were useful for the differentiation of mouse EBs to hematopoietic progenitors. Eighty-six percent of these cells were CD34+ after 6-d culture. 4Generation and Analysis of Pathogenicity-related Gene Mutants of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides Using a Novel Promoter Trapping System显示文摘Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation(ATMT) is an efficient tool for insertional mutagenesis and is used in a wide variety of plants. This paper reports a promoter trapping method to generate mutants in the filamentous fungus,Colletotrichum gloeosporioides,by ATMT insertion of a trapping vector(pCAHPH) that carries a promoterless hygromycin phosphotransferase(hph) gene. Transformants were selected on the media containing 200 μg/mL hygromycin B,and screened for pathogenicity-related gene mutants. Their pathogenicity-related mutants T-DNA flanking sequences were then cloned and analyzed. Hph genes were amplified from mutant genomic DNA but not from wild-type DNA,indicating that the phenotypic alternations of these mutants were the results of T-DNA insertion. T-DNA flanking sequences were obtained using modified thermal asymmetric interlaced PCR. 5Biodegradation of 3,5-dimethyl-2,4-dichlorophenol in saline wastewater by newly isolated Penicillium sp.yz11-22N2显示文摘In this study,the performance of 3,5-dimethyl-2,4-dichlorophenol(DCMX) degradation by a screened strain was investigated.18 S r DNA and the neighbor-joining method were used for identification of the isolated strain.The results of phylogenetic analysis and scanning electron micrographs showed that the most probable identity of the screened strain should be Penicillium sp.Growth characteristics of Penicillium sp.and degradation processes of DCMX were examined.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy of the inoculated DCMX solution was recorded,which supported the capacity of DCMX degradation by the screened Penicillium sp.Under different salinity conditions,the highest growth rate and removal efficiency for DCMX were obtained at p H 6.0.The removal efficiency decreased from 100%to 66% when the DCMX concentration increased from 5 to 60 mg/L,respectively.Using a Box–Behnken design,the maximum DCMX removal efficiency was determined to be 98.4%.With acclimation to salinity,higher removal efficiency could be achieved.The results demonstrate that the screened Penicillium sp.has the capability for degradation of DCMX.Zhou Yan Huijun He Chunping Yang Guangming Zeng Le Luo Panpan Jiao Huiru Li Li Lu 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,7:3
6Spatial heterogeneity of plant species on the windward slope of active sand dunes in a semi-arid region of China显示文摘Species richness and abundance are two important species diversity variables that have attracted particular attention because of their significance in determining present and future species composition conditions.This paper aims to explain the qualitative and quantitative relationships between species diversity pattern and grain size(i.e.size of the sampling unit),and species diversity pattern and sampling area,and to analyze species diversity variability on active sand dunes in the Horqin Sandy Land,northeastern Inner Mongolia,China.A 50 m×50 m sampling plot was selected on the windward slope,where the dominant species was annual herb Agriophyllum squarrosum.Species composition and abundance at five grain sizes were recorded,and the species-area curves were produced for thirteen grain sizes.The range of values for species abundance tended to increase with increasing grain size in the study area,whereas,generally,species richness did not follow this rule because of poor species richness on the windward slope of active sand dunes.However,the homogeneity of species richness increased significantly.With the increase in sampling area,species abundance increased linearly,but richness increased logarithmically.Furthermore,variograms showed that species diversity on the windward slope of active sand dunes was weakly anisotropic and the distribution pattern was random,according to the Moran Coefficient.The results also showed that species richness was low,with a random distribution pattern.This conflicts with the results of previous studies that showed spatial aggregation in lower richness in a sampling area within a community and inferred that the physical processes play a more important role in species diversity than distribution pattern on active sand dunes.Further research into different diversity patterns and mechanisms between active sand dunes and interdune lowlands should be conducted to better understand biodiversity conservation in sand dune fields.DeMing JIANG ChunPing MIAO XueHua LI XiaoLan LI ALAMUSA QuanLai ZHOU 2013Journal of Arid Land2013,5,1:3
7Solvent effects on Pt-Ru/C catalyst for methanol electro-oxidation显示文摘Alloying degree,particle size and the level of dispersion are the key structural parameters of Pt-Ru/C catalyst in fuel cells.Solvent(s) used in the preparation process can affect the particle size and alloying degree of the object substance,which lead to a great positive impact on its properties.In this work,three types of solvents and their mixtures were used in preparation of the Pt-Ru/C catalysts by chemical reduction of metal precursors with sodium borohydride at room temperature.The structure of the catalysts was characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD) and Transmission electron microscopy(TEM).The catalytic activity and stability for methanol electro-oxidation were studied by Cyclic Voltammetry(CV) and Chronoamperometry(CA).Pt-Ru/C catalyst prepared in H2O or binary solvents of H2O and isopropanol had large particle size and low alloying degree leading to low catalytic activity and less stability in methanol electro-oxidation.When tetrahydrofuran was added to the above solvent systems,Pt-Ru/C catalyst prepared had smaller particle size and higher alloying degree which resulted in better catalytic activity,lower onset and peak potentials,compared with the above catalysts.Moreover,the catalyst prepared in ternary solvents of isopropanol,water and tetrahydrofuran had the smallest particle size,and the high alloying degree and the dispersion kept unchanged.Therefore,this kind of catalyst showed the highest catalytic activity and good stability for methanol electro-oxidation.Jinwei Chen Chunping Jiang Hui Lu Lan Feng Xin Yang Liangqiong Li Ruilin Wang 2009Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2009,18,3:2
8Vulnerability and adaptation of an oasis social–ecological system affected by glacier change in an arid region of northwestern China显示文摘The Hexi Inland River Basin in an arid region of northwestern China was chosen as the study area for this research. The authors define the vulnerability of an oasis social-ecological system to glacier change; select 16 indicators from natural and socioeconomic systems according to exposure, sensitivity, and adaptive capacity; and construct a vulnerability-assessment indicator system aimed at an inland river basin in the arid region of Northwestern China. Vulnerability of the oasis socialecological system affected by glacier change in the study area is evaluated by Spatial Principal Component Analysis(SPCA) under the circumstance of glacier change. The key factors affecting the vulnerability are analyzed. The vulnerability of the oasis social-ecological system in the Hexi Inland River Basin affected by glacier change is of more than medium grade, accounting for about 48.0% of the total number of counties in the study area. In terms of the spatial pattern of the vulnerability, the oasis economic belt is the most vulnerable. With the rapid development of the area's society and economy, the exposure of the system to glacial changes is significantly increased; and an increase in glacial meltwater is not enough to overcome the impact of increased exposure, which is the main reason for the high vulnerability. 9Spatial structure and species composition of soil seed banks in moving sand dune systems of northeast China显示文摘Soil seed banks can provide a mechanistic for understanding the recruitment dynamics and can inform conservation management of ecosystems. To investigate the contribution of soil seed banks to vegetation restoration in moving sand dune systems, we compared seed structure and species similarity between soil seed banks and standing vegetation among moving sand dunes, ecotones and dune slacks in northeast China. Average seed density in dune slacks was greater than in ecotones or moving sand dunes.Seed density in the soil layer of 0–10 cm was greater than at 10–20 cm both in the moving sand dunes and the ecotones, but seed densities were similar at depths of 10–20and 20–30 cm in moving sand dunes. Moreover, the spatial autocorrelation of seed density on moving sand dunes was weak but was strong on the ecotones and dune slacks. The species in the soil seed bank of moving sand dune systems were nearly all annuals, and the low similarity was mainly due to the lack of perennial species that were common in standing vegetation. 20Photochemical fixation and reduction of sulfur dioxide to sulfide by tetraphenylporphyrin magnesium:Spectroscopic and kinetic studies显示文摘The photochemical reaction of sulfur dioxide(SO2) with tetraphenylporphyrin magnesium(MgTPP) has been investigated in dichloromethane(CH2Cl2) solution at room temperature with illumination by visible light.Conventional fluorescence,UV-vis,and MS spectral analyses showed that under these conditions,SO2 was initially photochemically fixed by MgTPP to form a 1:1 molecular adduct.On continued irradiation and maintaining the flow of SO2,MS and XRD results showed that MgTPP is remarkably effective in the photochemical reduction of SO2 to sulfide(S2).The kinetics of the photochemical reaction of MgTPP with SO2 was studied in a SO2-saturated solution.Under irradiation,the reaction follows pseudo first order kinetics for MgTPP,having a half-life decreasing from 106 to 57 min as the illumination intensity is increased from 350 to 600 Lm.This investigation of the photochemical fixation and reduction of SO2 by MgTPP is of key interest in elucidating fundamental photochemical reaction mechanisms associated with porphyrins in the presence of SO2 ;furthermore,the analysis of the photochemical reaction may offer new opportunities for the fixation and reduction of SO2 to less harmful species.ZHANG JianBin LI ChunPing HUO TianRui LI Qiang ZHANG Tong WEI XiongHui 2012Science China Chemistry2012,55,9:1
