| 1 | Herbal compatibility of Traditional Chinese Medical formulas for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome显示文摘OBJECTIVE:Because herbal compatibility is one of the most important reasons why Traditional Chinese Medcine(TCM) formulas are effective for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome(AIDS),our study aimed to determine the compatibility of herbs based on published AIDS clinical research in Chinese periodicals.To achieve this aim,we designed a new data-mining algorithm according to TCM data characteristics.METHODS:We found 25 clinical AIDS studies,all using Chinese herbs for treatment,in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Database System,and information on diagnosis and treatment was extracted.To find out herbal compatibility,especially the formulae for herbal combinations,we proposed an improved association rule algorithm based on the frequency of combinations.In this algorithm,all the compatibility relationships were displayed in a tree structure,by which the relationship between formulas and their derivation could be clearly inferred.RESULTS:Data analysis showed that approximately 100 herbs have been used for treating AIDS.Based on the whole herb compatibility tree,we calculated a basic formula for AIDS:Huang Qi combined with Ren Shen,Fu Ling,Bai Zhu,Bai Zhu,Dang Gui,and Bai Shao.This formula,deriving from most of clinical prescriptions,and was chosed by most of clinicians for AIDS treatment.From data mining we found that Qi replenishment and detoxification were the main treatment principles,which coincided with the AIDS pathological mechanism in which immune function is destroyed by human immunodeficiency virus(HIV).CONCLUSIONS:Our data-mining results suggest that the core TCM treatment of AIDS is replenishing Qi and detoxification,by which AIDS patients' immune system may be enhanced.Compatibility of Huang Qi with some frequently-used herbs have shown real efficacy in clinical practice,which warrants pharmacological research in the future. | Meng Cui Jinghua Li Haiyan Li Chunxin Song | 2012 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,3: | 5 |
| 2 | Experimental study on uplift mechanism of pipeline buried in sand using high-resolution fiber optic strain sensing nerves显示文摘Reliable assessment of uplift capacity of buried pipelines against upheaval buckling requires a valid failure mechanism and a reliable real-time monitoring technique.This paper presents a sensing solution for evaluating uplift capacity of pipelines buried in sand using fiber optic strain sensing(FOSS)nerves.Upward pipe-soil interaction(PSI)was investigated through a series of scaled tests,in which the FOSS and image analysis techniques were used to capture the failure patterns.The published prediction models were evaluated and modified according to observations in the present study as well as a database of 41 pipe loading tests assembled from the literature.Axial strain measurements of FOSS nerves horizontally installed above the pipeline were correlated with the failure behavior of the overlying soil.The test results indicate that the previous analytical models could be further improved regarding their estimations in the failure geometry and mobilization distance at the peak uplift resistance.For typical slip plane failure forms,inclined shear bands star from the pipe shoulder,instead of the springline,and have not yet reached the ground surface at the peak resistance.The vertical inclination of curved shear bands decreases with increasing uplift displacements at the post-peak periods.At large displacements,the upward movement is confined to the deeper ground,and the slip plane failure progressively changes to the flow-around.The feasibility of FOSS in pipe uplift resistance prediction was validated through the comparison with image analyses.In addition,the shear band locations can be identified using fiber optic strain measurements.Finally,the advantages and limits of the FOSS system are discussed in terms of different levels in upward PSI assessment,including failure identification,location,and quantification. | Haojie Li Honghu Zhu Yuanhai Li Chunxin Zhang Bin Shi | 2022 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2022,14,4: | 5 |

| 4 | An international multicentric phaseⅢrandomized controlled trial of time-acupoints-space acupuncture for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced fatigue in patients with early stage breast cancer:a study protocol显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To determine the difference in prevention of chemotherapy-induced fatigue between time-acupointsspace acupuncture(ATAS)administered weekly compared to sham acupuncture and non-acupuncture in patients with early breast cancer receiving adjuvant chemotherapy by epirubicine-cyclophosphamide(EC)followed by paclitaxel,as measured by the multidimensional fatigue inventory(MFI)over the previous week and Visual Analogue Scale measuring fatigue(VAS-F),and to evaluate the effects of ATAS on selfreported neuropathy pain,sleep,anxiety and depression.METHODS:In this multicenter clinical trial,we have randomized patients into 3 groups:ATAS,Sham and nonacupuncture with an unequal randomization of 2∶1∶1.A cloud related electronical clinical report form and smartphone platform was established for data entry.Patients with a history of stageⅠ-Ⅲbreast cancer scheduled to receive adjuvant chemotherapy.Acupuncture will be delivered once a week during chemotherapy with VAS-F evaluation.In order to qualify and quantify the mechanism of fatigue induced by chemotherapy with or without acupuncture,an evaluation of immune profiling was incorporate in this study.RESULTS:The presence and seriousness of chemotherapy-induced fatigue should be considered in therapeutic programs for early breast cancer treatment.Fatigue induced by adjuvant chemotherapy in patients with breast cancer remains a major concern affecting the quality of life significantly.Unfortunately,we do not have effective pharmacological interventions yet.And clinical trials of acupuncture in preventing chemotherapyinduced fatigue in patients with early breast cancer have not been reported.CONCLUSION:The findings of the trial will allow us to determine the effects of acupuncture treatment approach.We will also be able to confirm whether ATAS is better than sham acupuncture and non-acupuncture treatments. | Saghachian Mahasti Barry Caroline Asselain Bernard LI Yunfen NIE Jianyun LIU Dequan CHEN Dedian CHEN Chunxin Laura Estevez LI Wenhui Jean-Pierre Armand ZHU Miansheng JU Liya | 2022 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2022,42,2: | 2 |

| 13 | Development of diagnostic markers for a wheat leaf rust resistance gene Lr42 using RNA-sequencing显示文摘Wheat leaf rust is a prevalent foliar disease in wheat worldwide. Growing resistant cultivars is an effective strategy to minimize the impact of leaf rust on yield and grain quality. Lr42 is a leaf rust resistance gene identified from Aegilops tauschii and is still effective against current predominant leaf rust races in the United States and many other countries. In this study, we developed diagnostic DNA markers for Lr42 using the sequence polymorphisms of a differentially expressed gene(TaRPM1) encoding a putative NBARC protein in the Lr42 candidate region identified by RNA-sequencing of two near-isogenic lines contrasting in Lr42 alleles. Markers were designed based on a deletion mutation and a single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) in the gene. Haplotype analyses of the newly developed markers in the three diversity panels demonstrated that they are diagnostic for Lr42, and superior to previously used markers in selection accuracy. | 18 | Modeling pipe-soil interaction under vertical downward relative offset using B-spline material point method显示文摘To analyze the pipeline response under permanent ground deformation,the evolution of resistance acting on the pipe during the vertical downward offset is an essential ingredient.However,the efficient simulation of pipe penetration into soil is challenging for the conventional finite element(FE)method due to the large deformation of the surrounding soils.In this study,the B-spline material point method(MPM)is employed to investigate the pipe-soil interaction during the downward movement of rigid pipes buried in medium and dense sand.To describe the density-and stress-dependent behaviors of sand,the J2-deformation type model with state-dependent dilatancy is adopted.The effectiveness of the model is demonstrated by element tests and biaxial compression tests.Afterwards,the pipe penetration process is simulated,and the numerical outcomes are compared with the physical model tests.The effects of pipe size and burial depth are investigated with an emphasis on the mobilization of the soil resistance and the failure mechanisms.The simulation results indicate that the bearing capacity formulas given in the guidelines can provide essentially reasonable estimates for the ultimate force acting on buried pipes,and the recommended value of yield displacement may be underestimated to a certain extent. | Chunxin Zhang Honghu Zhu Haojie Li | 2023 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2023,15,6: | 0 |
