| 2 | Recent advances in emerging techniques for non-destructive detection of seed viability: A review显示文摘Over the past decades,imaging and spectroscopy techniques have been developed rapidly with widespread applications in non-destructive agro-food quality determination.Seeds are one of themost fundamental elements of agriculture and forestry.Seed viability is of great significance in seed quality characteristics reflecting potential seed germination,and there is a great need for a quick and effective method to determine the germination condition and viability of seeds prior to cultivate,sale and plant.Some researches based on spectra and/or image processing and analysis have been explored in terms of the external and internal quality of a variety of seeds.Many attempts have been made in image segmentation and spectra correction methods to predict seed quality using various traditional and novel methods.This review focuses on the comparative introduction,development and applications of emerging techniques in the analysis of seed viability,in particular,near infrared spectroscopy,hyperspectral and multispectral imaging,Raman spectroscopy,infrared thermography,and soft X-ray imaging methods.The basic theories,principle components,relative chemometric processing,analytical methods and prediction accuracies are reported and compared.Additionally,on the foundation of the observed applications,the technical challenges and future outlook for these emerging techniques are also discussed. | Yu Xia Yunfei Xu Jiangbo Li Chi Zhang Shuxiang Fan | 2019 | Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture2019,,1: | 7 |

| 4 | Polarization microwave-induced thermoacoustic imaging for quantitative characterization of deep biological tissue microstructures显示文摘Polarization optical imaging can be used to characterize anisotropy in biological tissue microstructures and has been demonstrated to be a powerful tool for clinical diagnosis. However, the approach is limited by an inability to image targets deeper than ~1 mm due to strong optical scattering in biological tissues. As such, we propose a novel polarization microwave-induced thermoacoustic imaging(P-MTAI) technique to noninvasively detect variations in deep tissue by exploiting the thermoacoustic signals induced by four pulsed microwaves of varying polarization orientations. The proposed P-MTAI method overcomes the penetration limits of conventional polarization optical imaging and provides submillimeter resolution over depths of several centimeters. As part of the paper, the structural characteristics of tissues were quantified using a new parameter, the degree of microwave absorption anisotropy. | 5 | Preparation of slightly crosslinked monodisperse poly(maleic anhydride-cyclohexyl vinyl ether-divinylbenzene)functional microspheres with anhydride groups via precipitation polymerization显示文摘Slightly crosslinked monodisperse poly(maleic anhydride-cyclohexyl vinyl ether-divinylbenzene)(MA-CHVE-DVB) microspheres were prepared via precipitation polymerization while using 2,2-azobisisobutyronitrile as an initiator in a mixture of methyl ethyl ketone and n-heptane without any stabilizer.The number-average diameter of the resultant poly(MA-CHVE-DVB) microspheres ranged from 0.478 to 1.386 μm with a polydispersity index of 1.00 to 1.02 that depended on the feed ratios of the MA/CHVE/DVB monomers.The introduction of one electron donor monomer cyclohexyl vinyl ether strongly affected the yield,size,and morphology of these slightly crosslinked microspheres.Quinolinetype chelating resins were obtained after combining the poly(MA-CHVE-DVB) with 8-hydroxyquinoline;the adsorption properties of these materials were measured through their ability to remove Cu^(2+) ions from water.The poly(MA-CHVE-DVB) microspheres with low degrees of crosslinldng provided more effective functional groups and therefore better ion removal capabilities.These slightly crosslinked microspheres may have applications in water treatment as well as in sensing and drug delivery. | Cen Yin Anhou Xu Li Gong Luqing Zhang Bing Geng Shuxiang Zhang | 2015 | Particuology2015,13,2: | 2 |
| 6 | Massage treatment of chronic persistent pediatric asthma显示文摘Objective:We observed the clinical effect of massage in treating chronic persistent pediatric asthma and the changes in expression of TLR1,TLR2,and TLR4 on macrophages.Methods:One hundred sixty pediatric patients with persistent chronic asthma were col-lected,and divided into treatment and control groups of 80 each in strict accordance with the principle of random allocation.The patients in the control group received general nebulizer therapy,and the patients in the treatment group received infantile massage.Both groups of patients were observed for 3 months with respect to the following indicators:the frequency of asthmatic attacks;the frequency of respiratory tract infections(RTIs);C-ACT rating;and the PEF%of peripheral blood(PB)before and after treatment to detect macrophage TLR1,TLR2,and TLR4.Results:After treatment,the frequency of asthmatic attacks,frequency of RTIs,C-ACT rat-ing,and the PEF%and macrophage TLR1,TLR2,and TLR4 expression of fluorescence intensity in the treatment group showed a statistically significant increase when compared with the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Pediatric massage can improve the clinical symptoms of pediatric asthma by up-regulating the expression of macrophage TLR1,TLR2,and TLR4. | Fuling Tian Qi Li Jianmei Cui Shuxiang Ma Hongbin Wang Xueqing Li | 2014 | Family Medicine and Community Health2014,2,2: | 2 |

| 8 | N-carbamylglutamate restores nitric oxide synthesis and attenuates high altitudeinduced pulmonary hypertension in Holstein heifers ascended to high altitude显示文摘Background: High-altitude pulmonary hypertension(HAPH) is a life-threating condition for animals in high altitude,and disturbance of endothelial nitric oxide(NO) synthesis contributes to its pathogenesis. N-carbamylglutamate(NCG), which enhances arginine synthesis, promotes endogenous synthesis of NO. In this study, we determined the effects of NCG on alleviating HAPH in Holstein heifers that ascended to Tibet(Lhasa, 3,658 m).Methods: Exp. 1, 2,000 Holstein heifers were transported from low elevation(1,027 m) to Lhasa. After being exposed to hypoxia for 1 yr, Holstein heifers were assigned to a healthy group(Control, n = 6) with mean pulmonary hypertension(mPAP) < 41 mmHg, and an HAPH affected group(HAPH, n = 6) with mPAP > 49 mmHg.Lung tissues were collected to evaluate histopathological changes and the expression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase(eNOS). Exp. 2, ten healthy heifers and 10 HAPH affected heifers were supplemented with NCG(20 g/d per heifer) for 4 wk. Physiological parameters were determined and blood samples were collected on d-1 and d 28 of the feeding trial.Results: Expression of e NOS in small pulmonary arteriole intima was higher in the healthy than HAPH group(P = 0.006), whereas HAPH group had significantly thicker media and adventitia than healthy group(all P < 0.05). The mRNA of eNOS and protein level of eNOS were higher in the lungs of heifers in the healthy group than in the HAPH group(both P < 0.001), whereas endothelin-1 protein levels were higher in HAPH group than in the healthy group(P = 0.025). NCG supplementation decreased mPAP and ammonia(both P = 0.001), whereas it increased the expression of eNOS, arginine, and plasma NO(all P < 0.05).Conclusions: The expression of eNOS was decreased in Holstein heifers with HAPH. | 9 | Defect-related luminescent bur-like hydroxyapatite microspheres induced apoptosis of MC3T3-E1 cells by lysosomal and mitochondrial pathways显示文摘When orthopedic joints coated by hydroxyapatite(HA) were implanted in the human body, they release wear debris into the surrounding tissues. The generation and accumulation of wear particles will induce aseptic loosening. However, the potential bioeffect and mechanism of HA-coated orthopedic implants on bone cells are poorly understood. In this study, defect-related luminescent bur-like hydroxyapatite(BHA) microspheres with the average diameter of 7–9 μm which are comparable to that of the wear-debris particles from aseptically loosened HA implants or HA debris have been synthesized by hydrothermal synthesis and the MC3 T3-E1 cells were set as a cells model to study the potential bioeffect and mechanism of BHA microspheres. The studies demonstrated that BHA microspheres could be taken into MC3 T3-E1 cells via endocytosis involved in micropinocytosisand clathrin-mediated endocytosis process, and exert cytotoxicity effect. BHA microspheres could induce the cell apoptosis by intracellular production of reactive oxygen species(ROS), which led to not only an increase in the permeability of lysosome and release of cathepsins B, but also mitochondrial dysfunction and DNA damage.
