1Preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio plus platelet-to-lymphocyte ratioin predicting survival for patients with stage Ⅰ-Ⅱgastric cancer显示文摘Background:The preoperative neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR) and the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(PLR) are associated with poor prognosis of gastric cancer.We aimed to determine whether the combination of NLR and PLR(NLR-PLR) could better predict survival of patients after curative resection for stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ gastric cancer.Methods:We collected data from the medical records of patients with stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ gastric cancer undergoing curative resection between December 2000 and November 2012 at the Sun Yat-sen Cancer Center.The preoperative NLRPLR was calculated as follows:patients with both elevated NLR(≥2.1) and PLR(≥ 120) were given a score of 2,and patients with only one or neither were given a score of 1 or 0,respectively.Results:Kaplan-Meier analysis and log-rank tests revealed significant differences in overall survival(OS) among patients with NLR-PLR scores of 0,1 and 2(P < 0.001).Multivariate analysis showed that OS was independently associated with the NLR-PLR score[hazard ratio(HR) = 1.51,95%confidence interval(CI) 1.02-2.24,P = 0.039]and TNM stage(HR = 1.36,95%CI 1.01-1.83,P= 0.041).However,other systemic inflammation-based prognostic scores,including the modified Glasgow prognostic score,the prognostic nutritional index,and the combination of platelet count and NLR,were not.In TNM stage-stratified analysis,the prognostic significance of NLR-PLR was maintained in patients with stage Ⅰ(P < 0.001) and stage Ⅱ cancers(P= 0.022).In addition,the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for the NLR-PLR score was higher than those of other systemic inflammation-based prognostic scores(P = 0.001).Conclusion:The preoperative NLR-PLR score is a useful predictor of postoperative survival in the patients with stage l-ll gastric cancer and may help identify high-risk patients for rational therapy and timely follow-up.Xiaowei Sun Xuechao Liu Jianjun Liu Shangxiang Chen Dazhi Xu Wei Li Youqing Zhan Yuanfang Li Yingbo Chen Zhiwei Zhou 2016Chinese Journal of Cancer2016,35,7:25
2One-step synthesis of fluorescent hydroxyls-coated carbon dots with hydrothermal reaction and its application to optical sensing of metal ions显示文摘Carbon dots (CDs) with average diameter of 3.1 ± 0.5 nm were facilely synthesized with candle soot through hydrothermal reaction in sodium hydroxide aqueous solution. The as-prepared CDs were covered with a lot of hydroxyls, possessed properties of good water-solubility, anti-photobleaching, salt tolerance, and low cytotoxicity, and had a fluorescence quantum yield (QY) of about 5.5%. The fluorescence of the hydroxyls-coated CDs could be selectively quenched by metal ions such as Cr3+, Al3+ and Fe3+, which is because these metals can easily combine with the hydroxyl groups on the surface of CDs and induce aggregation of hydroxyls-coated CDs. 4Simulating the Effect of Hydrate Dissociation on Wellhead Stability During Oil and Gas Development in Deepwater显示文摘It is well known that methane hydrate has been identified as an alternative resource due to its massive reserves and clean property. However, hydrate dissociation during oil and gas development(OGD) process in deep water can affect the stability of subsea equipment and formation. Currently, there is a serious lack of studies over quantitative assessment on the effects of hydrate dissociation on wellhead stability. In order to solve this problem, ABAQUS finite element software was used to develop a model and to evaluate the behavior of wellhead caused by hydrate dissociation. The factors that affect the wellhead stability include dissociation range, depth of hydrate formation and mechanical properties of dissociated hydrate region. Based on these, series of simulations were carried out to determine the wellhead displacement. The results revealed that, continuous dissociation of hydrate in homogeneous and isotropic formations can causes the non-linear increment in vertical displacement of wellhead. The displacement of wellhead showed good agreement with the settlement of overlying formations under the same conditions. In addition, the shallower and thicker hydrate formation can aggravate the influence of hydrate dissociation on the wellhead stability. Further, it was observed that with the declining elastic modulus and Poisson's ratio, the wellhead displacement increases. 6Applying a statistical method to streamflow reduction caused by underground mining for coal in the Kuye River basin显示文摘Streamflow in the Kuye River basin has been sharply reduced by the effects of climate change and human activities.Since 1997,the intensification of coal mining has resulted in substantial reductions to streamflow alongside an ever-increasing demand for water.In this study,we present a derived statistical method,incorporating the Mann-Kendall and Pettitt method(MK-P) and the Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT),and apply it to estimating the streamflow reductions caused by underground mining for coal in the Kuye River basin.The results show that underground mining is an important cause of the streamflow reductions observed since1997,being responsible for reductions of 21.15 mm/yr(~56%of the total) during 1997-2009.The results of the SWAT simulation were assessed by several performance criteria:Nash-Suttcliffe Efficiency(Nse),correlation coefficient(R^2),relative error(RE),P-factor and Pv-factor.The close match between the simulations and observed data supports the reasonability of our findings.We suggest that engineering strategies be adopted to limit streamflow loss into goafs via fractured zones in the coalfield.LI Shu CHEN YuanFang LI ZhiJia ZHANG Ke 2016Science China(Technological Sciences)2016,59,12:8
7Numerical Analysis of Wellbore Instability in Gas Hydrate Formation During Deep-Water Drilling显示文摘Gas hydrate formation may be encountered during deep-water drilling because of the large amount and wide distribution of gas hydrates under the shallow seabed of the South China Sea. Hydrates are extremely sensitive to temperature and pressure changes, and drilling through gas hydrate formation may cause dissociation of hydrates, accompanied by changes in wellbore temperatures, pore pressures, and stress states, thereby leading to wellbore plastic yield and wellbore instability. Considering the coupling effect of seepage of drilling fluid into gas hydrate formation, heat conduction between drilling fluid and formation, hydrate dissociation, and transformation of the formation framework, this study established a multi-field coupling mathematical model of the wellbore in the hydrate formation. Furthermore, the influences of drilling fluid temperatures, densities, and soaking time on the instability of hydrate formation were calculated and analyzed. Results show that the greater the temperature difference between the drilling fluid and hydrate formation is, the faster the hydrate dissociates, the wider the plastic dissociation range is, and the greater the failure width becomes. When the temperature difference is greater than 7℃, the maximum rate of plastic deformation around the wellbore is more than 10%, which is along the direction of the minimum horizontal in-situ stress and associated with instability and damage on the surrounding rock. The hydrate dissociation is insensitive to the variation of drilling fluid density, thereby implying that the change of the density of drilling fluids has a minimal effect on the hydrate dissociation. Drilling fluids that are absorbed into the hydrate formation result in fast dissociation at the initial stage. As time elapses, the hydrate dissociation slows down, but the risk of wellbore instability is aggravated due to the prolonged submersion in drilling fluids. For the sake of the stability of the wellbore in deep-water drilling through hydrate formation, the drilling fluid with low temperatures should be given priority. 8Relation Classification via Sequence Features and Bi-Directional LSTMs显示文摘Structure features need complicated pre-processing, and are probably domain-dependent. To reduce time cost of pre-processing, we propose a novel neural network architecture which is a bi-directional long-short-term-memory recurrent-neural-network(Bi-LSTM-RNN) model based on low-cost sequence features such as words and part-of-speech(POS) tags, to classify the relation of two entities. First, this model performs bi-directional recurrent computation along the tokens of sentences. Then, the sequence is divided into five parts and standard pooling functions are applied over the token representations of each part. Finally, the token representations are concatenated and fed into a softmax layer for relation classification. We evaluate our model on two standard benchmark datasets in different domains, namely Sem Eval-2010 Task 8 and Bio NLP-ST 2016 Task BB3. In Sem Eval-2010 Task 8, the performance of our model matches those of the state-of-the-art models, achieving 83.0% in F1. In Bio NLP-ST 2016 Task BB3, our model obtains F_1 51.3% which is comparable with that of the best system. 9The ostracod assemblages and their environmental significance in the Chen Co area, southern Tibet in recent 1400 years显示文摘The CC1 core, with a length of 216 cm, was drilled in the west part of the Chen Co (Lake) in southern Tibet Plateau. The 210Pb and 137Cs measurement indicated that it was a consecutive sedimentary sequence since ca. 1400 years. The ostracoda and their assemblages under the level of 1 cm samples’ cutting interval were finished for this core to reveal the past environmental changes in the lake area. A total of 15 species of ostracods belonging to 7 genera in the core sediments had been identified. According to the ostracod distributions, abundances and preservations in the core, seven ostracod assemblages had been distinguished. The ostracod assemblages and their ecological features, together with the sediments dating decision were used to infer the past ca. 1400 years environmental changes of the Chen Co environmental evolutions in three stages, which had responded to the Medieval Ages Warm-period (MAW), the Little Ice Age (LIA) and modern warm period. The results show that the changes of the Chen Co environment had been mainly influenced by the climatic variations. 10A nomogram to predict prognosis for gastric cancer with peritoneal dissemination显示文摘Objective: To identify independent prognostic factors to be included in a nomogram to predict the prognosis of gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination.Methods: This is a retrospective study on 684 patients with a histological diagnosis of gastric cancer with peritoneal dissemination from the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center as the development set, and 62 gastric cancer patients from the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University as the validation group. Chi-square test and Cox regression analysis were used to compare the clinicopathological variables and the prognosis of gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination. The Harrell's concordance index(C-index) and calibration curve were determined for comparisons of predictive ability of the nomogram.Results: Univariate and multivariate analyses showed that serum carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA) level(P=0.032), ascites grading(P=0.008), presence of extraperitoneal metastasis(P<0.001), seeding status(P=0.016) and performance status(P=0.009) were independent prognostic factors for gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination in the development set. The nomogram model was constructed using these five factors. Internal validation showed that the C-index of the model was 0.641. For the external validation, the C-index of this model was 0.709.Conclusions: We developed and validated a nomogram to predict the prognosis for gastric cancer patients with peritoneal dissemination. 11Mapping Soil Electrical Conductivity Using Ordinary Kriging Combined with Back-propagation Network显示文摘Accurate mapping of soil salinity and recognition of its influencing factors are essential for sustainable crop production and soil health. Although the influencing factors have been used to improve the mapping accuracy of soil salinity, few studies have considered both aspects of spatial variation caused by the influencing factors and spatial autocorrelations for mapping. The objective of this study was to demonstrate that the ordinary kriging combined with back-propagation network(OK_BP), considering the two aspects of spatial variation, which can benefit the improvement of the mapping accuracy of soil salinity. To test the effectiveness of this approach, 70 sites were sampled at two depths(0–30 and 30–50 cm) in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, China. Ordinary kriging(OK), back-propagation network(BP) and regression kriging(RK) were used in comparison analysis; the root mean square error(RMSE), relative improvement(RI) and the decrease in estimation imprecision(DIP) were used to judge the mapping quality. Results showed that OK_BP avoided the both underestimation and overestimation of the higher and lower values of interpolation surfaces. OK_BP revealed more details of the spatial variation responding to influencing factors, and provided more flexibility for incorporating various correlated factors in the mapping. Moreover, OK_BP obtained better results with respect to the reference methods(i.e., OK, BP, and RK) in terms of the lowest RMSE, the highest RI and DIP. 12Far-red light: A regulator of plant morphology and photosynthetic capacity显示文摘Plant photosynthetic capacity directly determines crop yield. Light quality regulates photosynthetic capacity. This review discusses plant responses to far-red light from the phenotypic to the molecular level, focusing specifically on the improvement of photosynthetic capacity by adjustment of photosynthetic electron transport and the path of light energy. Far-red light can also regulate leaf angle and increase plant height and leaf area, via expression of associated genes, to capture more light energy.Thus, far-red light regulates plant morphology and photosynthetic capacity. 13Investigations of the interaction between cuprous oxide nanoparticles and Staphylococcus aureus显示文摘Cuprous oxide nanoparticles of 30-50 nm in size were prepared in the presence of cetyltrimethylam-monium bromide (CTAB). By taking Staphylococcus aureus (S.a), which always causes a variety of suppurative infections and toxinoses in humans, as a model bioparticle, the negative bioeffect of nano-Cu2O on S.a cells was evaluated, and minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) was determined by imitating the MIC of antibiotics. Cellularity and bactericidal effect were measured by flow cytometry (FCM), dark field light scattering imaging and SEM photography. 14cAMP Modulates Macrophage Development by Suppressing M-CSF-Induced MAPKs Activation显示文摘M-CSF is a key cytokine in macrophage development by inducing MAPKs activation,and cAMP can inhibit MAPKs activation induced by inflammatory stimuli. To explore the effects of cAMP on M-CSF-induced MAPKs activation and on macrophage development,the model of bone marrow-derived murine macrophages (BMMs) was used. The effects of cAMP on M-CSF-induced MAPKs activation were analyzed by Western blotting assay,and the effects of cAMP on CD14 and F4/80 expression during macrophage development were examined by FACS analysis. Macrophage morphology showed the successful establishment of the model of macrophage development. Western blotting assay revealed that M-CSF activated ERK,JNK and p38 in both mature and immature macrophages,and cAMP inhibited M-CSF-induced ERK,JNK and p38 activation in a time-dependent manner. FACS analysis revealed that macrophage development was impaired with cAMP pretreatment. 15Characterization of a Novel Anti-DR5 Monoclonal Antibody WD1 with the Potential to Induce Tumor Cell Apoptosis显示文摘TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) is a TNF family member capable of inducing apoptosis. Death receptor 5 (DR 5) is a key receptor of TRAIL and plays an important role in TRAIL-induced apoptosis. To prepare monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against DR5,cDNA encoding soluble DR5 (sDR5) was firstly amplified by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) with specific primers,and then inserted into a prokaryotic expression vector pET-30a. The recombinant plasmid was expressed in Escherichia coli strain BL21 (DE3),and sDR5 was purified by nickel affinity chromatography. As an antigen,sDR5 was used to immunize mice. Hybridomas secreting antibodies against sDR5 were identified. One positive clone was selected to produce antibody,WD1. ELISA and immunofluorescence demonstrated that WD1 could bind recombinant sDR5 and membrane-bound DR5 (mDR5) on Jurkat and Molt-4 cells. ATPLite assays showed that Jurkat and Molt-4 cells were sensitive to the antibody in a dose dependent manner. The Annexin V/PI assays and Giemsa's staining both showed that WD1 could induce Jurkat cell apoptosis efficiently. Transient transfection of 293T cells and indirect immunofluorescence assay demonstrated that mAb (WD1) couldn't cross-react with DR4. Our findings indicated that the novel antibody,WD1 could act as a direct agonist,bind DR5 characteristically,and initiate efficient apoptotic signaling and tumor regression. 16Shape- and size-dependent catalysis activities of iron-terephthalic acid metal-organic frameworks显示文摘Precise control of the size and morphology of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) presents an important direction for extending these inorganic-organic materials to many more advanced applications. However, because of the limit of the crystal-growth rule and mechanism, good-control of the size and morphology of MOFs remains challenging. In this contribution, an iron-terephthalic acid metal-organic framework with different shapes(octahedron, spindle and bipyramidal hexagonal) was easily and reproducibly synthesized via a solvothermal method. Sodium acetate and glycerol were used as modulators. Mechanism studies showed that the crystal nucleation rate and orientational growth both play important roles in determining the final shape of the MOFs. Further investigations showed that the as prepared MOFs exhibit shape-dependent catalytic activities, which means that MOFs can be designed to perform different catalytic functions. 18Water level variation characteristics under the impacts of extreme drought and the operation of the Three Gorges Dam显示文摘Under the influence of a climate of extreme drought and the Three Gorges Dam (TGD) operation, the water levels in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in 2006 and 2011 changed significantly compared with those in the extreme drought years of 1978 and 1986. To quantitatively analyze the characteristics of water level variations in 2006 and 2011, a new calculation method was proposed, and the daily water level and discharge from 1955-2016 were collected in this study. The findings are as follows: in 2006 and 2011, the water level in the dry season significantly increased, but that in the flood season obviously decreased compared with the levels in 1978 and 1986. Here, we described this phenomenon as “no low-water-level in dry season, no high-water-level in flood season”. 19Spectrofluorimetric analysis of captopril based on its obstruction effect of the nanomaterial surface energy transfer between acridine orange and gold nanoparticles显示文摘A simple and sensitive method for detection of captopril was established based on its obstructive effect on nanomaterial surface energy transfer(NSET). It was found that the acridine orange(AO) could be adsorbed onto the surface of citrated-gold nanoparticles(Au NPs) through electrostatic interaction. Incidentally, the fluorescence of AO was quenched owing to the dipole-dipole interaction of NSET between AO fluorophore and the Au NPs. However, captopril could obstruct the occurrence of NSET between AO and Au NPs effectively with the formation of Au-S covalent bonds between it and the Au NPs. Consequently, AO molecules were moved away from the surface of Au NPs leading to a decline of the energy transfer efficiency. Moreover, the fluorescence of AO could be gradually restored with the addition of captopril. Under the optimal conditions, the recovered fluorescence intensity correlated linearly with the concentration of captopril in the range of 400 nmol/L–2.0 μmol/L with a detection limit of 71 nmol/L. Besides, the proposed method was successfully applied for the detection of captopril in troches with the recovery of 93%–102% and the RSD lower than 2.24%. 20Ginger-indirect moxibustion plus acupuncture versus acupuncture alone for chronic fatigue syndrome:a randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To assess the efficacy and safety of gingerindirect moxibustion for chronic fatigue syndrome(CFS).METHODS:In this central randomized,controlled trial,290 CFS participants were recruited and randomly allocated to group A(ginger-indirect moxibustion plus acupuncture)or group B(acupuncture alone).The study consisted of a treatment period of 8 weeks with a total of 24 treatments(3 sessions per week,every other day),and a follow-up period of 12 weeks.The outcome was measured by Fatigue Severity Scale(FSS),Psychological Health Report(SPHERE),the Self-rating depression scale(SDS)and the Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA)at baseline,2,4,6,8,12 and 20 weeks.RESULTS:With the treatment undergoing,the changes of FSS,SPHERE,SDS and HAMA scores in both groups increased gradually,and the effect maintained at the 12th week.Between groups,significantly higher score changes were seen in group A in FSS after 4 weeks treatment(11.94 vs 9.12,95%CI:0.94,4.7)and in SPHERE after 2 weeks treatment(3.7 vs 2.27,95%CI:0.56,2.31).But for SDS and HAMA,the improvement did not differ significantly between groups.No severe adverse events were reported.CONCLUSION:Ginger-indirect moxibustion is a safe and effective intervention to relieve fatigue and accompanying physical symptoms of CFS.MA Tingting WU Jie YANG Lijie FENG Fen YANG Huilin ZHANG Jinhua ZHONG Yanjin NING Qing HUANG Lirong LIN Youbing YAN Jue CHEN Guiquan HOU Tianshu WANG Li REN Yuanfang TAN Jing 2022Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2022,42,2:2
