2Green synthesis of fluorescent carbon quantum dots and carbon spheres from pericarp显示文摘An economical idea was developed to synthesize fluorescent carbon quantum dots(CQDs) directly from the refluxing extraction of orange pericarp via a hydrothermal technique. Hydrothermal temperatures and times were adjusted to control the particle sizes and the quantum yields of the obtained CQDs. The as-prepared carbon quantum dots showed narrow particle size distribution, good water solubility, and acceptable fluorescence lifetimes. Due to their high stability, these obtained carbon quantum dots have great application potential in nano-biotechnology. 7A population genetics model of linkage disequilibrium in admixed populations显示文摘Understanding linkage disequilibrium (LD) created in admixed population and the rate of decay in the disequilibrium over evolution is an important subject in population genetics theory and in disease gene mapping in human populations. The present study represents the theoretical investigation of effects of gene frequencies, levels of LD and admixture proportions of donor populations on the evolutionary dynamics of the LD of the admixed population. We examined the conditions under which the admixed population reached linkage equilibrium or the peak level of the LD. The study reveals the inappropriateness in approximating the dynamics of the LD generated by population admixture by the commonly used formula in literature. An appropriate equation for the dynamics isproposed. The distinct feature of the newly suggested formula is that the value of the nonlinear component of the LD remains constant in the first generation of the population evolution. 9Loading Localization by Small-Diameter Optical Fiber Sensors显示文摘Structural health monitoring(SHM)in service has attracted increasing attention for years.Load localization on a structure is studied hereby.Two algorithms,i.e.,support vector machine(SVM)method and back propagation neural network(BPNN)algorithm,are proposed to identify the loading positions individually.The feasibility of the suggested methods is evaluated through an experimental program on a carbon fiber reinforced plastic laminate.The experimental tests involve in application of four optical fiber-based sensors for strain measurement at discrete points.The sensors are specially designed fiber Bragg grating(FBG)in small diameter.The small-diameter FBG sensors are arrayed in 2-D on the laminate surface.The testing results indicate that the loading position could be detected by the proposed method.Using SVM method,the 2-D FBG sensors can approximate the loading location with maximum error less than 14 mm.However,the maximum localization error could be limited to about 1 mm by applying the BPNN algorithm.It is mainly because the convergence conditions(mean square error)can be set in advance,while SVM cannot.Liu Rongmei Zhu Lujia Lu Jiyun Liang Dakai 2018Transactions of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics2018,35,2:1

12High-resolution gene mapping using admixture linkage disequilibrium显示文摘This note reports simulation study on the rate of decay in linkage disequilibrium (LD) in mixed populations over multiple discrete generations and explores the usefulness of the LD analysis in high-resolution gene mapping. The results indicate that the smaller the recombination fraction and the fewer generations since admixture event, the higher power of the approach in gene mapping. The expected estimate of recombination fraction would give an estimate that is slightly biased upwards, if relevant genes are in tight linkage. The estimated recombination fraction is usually larger than the true value within 2-5 generations. From generations 10-20, the mean estimates are in good agreement with the true value. 13Rate of decay in admixture linkage disequilibrium and its implication in gene mapping显示文摘Modeling linkage disequilibria (LD) between genes usually observed in admixed natural populations has been shown an effective approach in high-resolution mapping of disease genes in humans. A prerequisite to obtain accurate estimation of recombination fraction between genesat a marker locus and the disease locus using the approach is a reliable prediction of the proportion of the admixture populations. The present study suggested the use of gene frequencies to predict the estimate of the admixture proportion based on the observation that the gene frequencies are much more stable quantities than the haplotype frequencies over evolution of the population. In this paper, we advanced the theory and methods by which the decay rate of nonlinear term of LD in admixed population may be used to estimate the recombination fraction between the genes. 14Effects of deficit irrigation on soil microorganisms and growth of Arabica coffee(Coffea arabica L.)under different shading cultivation modes显示文摘In the present research,the rational coupling mode of irrigation and shading cultivation for rapid growth and water saving of young Arabica coffee shrubs was investigated from 2016 to 2017.Taking full irrigation(FI,1.2Ep)as the control,the effects of three deficit irrigation(DI)(DI1,DI2 and DI3,with 1.0Ep,0.8Ep and 0.6Ep)on soil water content,temperature,microorganism population density,photosynthetic characteristics,canopy structure and dry mass of Arabica coffee under three shading cultivation modes(S0,monoculture coffee;S1,mild shading cultivation,intercropping with one line of Arabica coffee and one line of castor(Ricinus communis L.);S2,severe shading cultivation,intercropping with one line of Arabica coffee and two lines of castor)were investigated using plot experiments.Compared to FI,DI1 not obviously changed the population density of soil bacteria and actinomycetes,but increased net photosynthetic rate(Pn),crown area and dry mass of Arabica coffee by 7.0%,9.53%and 10.46%,respectively.In addition,DI1 also decreased total radiation under canopy(TRUC)by 5.51%.DI2 and DI3 reduced the population density of soil bacteria,fungi and actinomycetes ranging 8.94%-47.06%.Compared to S0,S1 increased the population density of soil fungi,bacteria and actinomycetes by 13.99%,30.77%and 9.72%,respectively.S1 also increased Pn,transpiration rate(Tr),leaf apparent radiation use efficiency(ARUE),leaf area index(LAI)and dry mass by 9.29%,5.39%,60.98%,10.31%and 30.02%,respectively.DI1S1 obtained the highest Pn and dry mass and higher LAI and the lowest TRUC.DI1S1 increased Pn,ARUE and dry mass by 18.98%,72.37%and 62.90%respectively but decreased TRUC by 21.77%when compared to FIS0.Thus,DI1S1 was found to be the rational mode of irrigation and shading cultivation for young Arabica coffee.Xiaogang Liu Rongmei Li Zhihui Han Qiliang Yang Zeyin Jiang 2021International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2021,14,6:0
15A Cell-Anchored and Self-Calibrated DNA Nanoplatform for in Situ Imaging and Quantification of Endogenous MicroRNA in Live Cells:Introducing Two Controls to Normalize the Sensing Signals显示文摘Quantifying the microRNAs(miRNAs)levels in living cells,while essential for the study of fundamental biology and medical diagnostics,has barely been achieved due to insufficient probe delivery and unquantifiable signals.We report a cell-anchored and self-calibrated DNA nanoplatform,a cholesterol-headed DNA nanowire that is capable of efficiently delivering to various cells and simultaneously detecting two target miRNAs.One miRNA target can be utilized as an endogenous control against cell-to-cell variations.Moreover,the photocleavable linkers inserted in the nanostructures allow us to precisely regulate the probe structure and fluorescence signaling at the desired time and location in vivo.As a second control,the maximum fluorescence can be elicited by UV light,which further facilitates the normalization of the absolute fluorescence signal.With two introduced internal controls,the maximum fluorescence and endogenous control gene,this approach displays excellent stability and self-calibration performance,effectively avoiding the interference from operating conditions and cellto-cell variations,such as the laser powers and intracellular probe concentrations.Importantly,this design is capable of unifying the output signal intensity between in vitro test and cell imaging,making the in vitro linear calibration curve appropriate for the quantification of miRNA expression in living cells.Wenjuan Song Zhi-Ling Song Qian Li Chengwen Shang Qiqi Chao Xingfu Liu Rongmei Kong Gao-Chao Fan Xiliang Luo 2023CCS Chemistry2023,5,1:0
