| 4 | Susceptibility variations of multiple origins of loess from the Ily Basin(NW China)显示文摘The magnetic susceptibility of loess from the Ily Basin,northwestern China shows maximum values in S0 paleosols but minimum values in other paleosols,the mechanism of which has been well debated.In this work,systematic magnetic measurements were made on a representative section from Neleke county.The results show that the loess horizons(L1,L2 and L3) have multi-domain magnetite grains of aeolian origin,S0 is characterized by production of pedogenetic ultrafine-grained ferrimagnetic minerals,and the other paleosols(S1,S2,and S3) are characterized by the formation of nonferrimagnetic minerals associated with waterlogging.The correlation between the low concentration of ferrimagnets,high paramagnetic content,high magnetic coercivity remanence,fine ferrimagnetic grain size and intensified pedogenesis suggest two competing processes of pedogenetic enhancement and pedogenetic depletion in the lower paleosols.Pedogenetic depletion dominates and is responsible for the low susceptibility.Changes in magnetic grain size distribution occur during pedogenetic depletion.The susceptibility variations are of multiple origins in the loess of the Ily Basin.Pedogenetic enhancement,pedogenetic depletion,and allochthonous input of magnetic minerals should all be taken into account to explain the variations of magnetic parameters. | CHEN Qu LIU XiuMing HELLER F HIRT Ann M LU Bin GUO XueLian MAO XueGang ZHAO GuoYong FENG Hua GUO Hui | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,15: | 9 |
| 5 | Targeted Mutagenesis of NAC Transcription Factor Gene,OsN AC041,Leading to Salt Sensitivity in Rice显示文摘Salinity is a major abiotic stress factor that seriously affects plant growth. Many genes are involved in the response to salt stress with various metabolism pathways. A number of plant transcription factor family genes have been found to be involved in the salt stress response, and NAM, ATAF and CUC(NAC) transcription factors are thought to act as active regulators during abiotic stress, especially salt stress. In this study, we detected a rice NAC transcription factor coding gene, OsNAC041, and confirmed that it influenced the germination of seeds under salt stress and salt tolerance of plants. OsNAC041 was primarily expressed in the leaves and located in the nucleus. Furthermore, the CRISPR/Cas9 method was used to obtain a targeted osnac041 mutant, of which the plant height was higher than that of the wild-type, showing increased salt sensitivity. Moreover, RNA-seq analysis revealed a number of differentially expressed genes(DEGs) involved in several important signaling pathways in the osnac041 mutant. Subsequently, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes annotation also revealed differential expression of DEGs associated with mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling, peroxisome, eukaryotictype ABC transporters, photosynthesis and plant hormones, which are involved in stress-related signaling pathways. Overall, our study suggested that OsNAC041 was involved in the salt stress response in rice. | 6 | Differentiation potential of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells in duck显示文摘The bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) are multipotent stem cells which can differentiate into mesenchymal cells in vitro.In this study,MSCs in duck were isolated from bone marrow by density gradient centrifuge separation,purified and expanded in the me-dium.The primary MSCs were expanded for 11 passages.The different-passage MSCs were induced to differentiate into osteoblasts and neuron-like cells.Karyotype analysis indicated that MSCs kept diploid condition and the hereditary feature was stable.The different-passage MSCs expressed CD44,ICAM-1 and SSEA-4,but not CD34,CD45 and SSEA-1 when detected by immunofluorescence staining.There was no significant difference among the positive rates of passages 2,6 and 8(P > 0.05),but a significant difference existed among those of passages 2,6,8 and 11(P < 0.05).After the osteogenic inducement was added,the induced different-passage MSCs expressed high-level alkaline phosphatase(ALP),and are positive for tetracycline staining,Alizarin Red staining and Von Kossa staining.After the neural inducement was added,about 70% cells exhibited typical neuron-like phenotype,the induced different-passage MSCs expressed Nestin,neuron-specific enolase(NSE) and glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP) when detected by immunofluorescence staining.There was no significant difference among the positive rates of passages 3,4 and 6(P>0.05),but a significant difference existed among those of passages 3,4,6 and 8(P<0.05).These results suggest that MSCs in duck were capable of differentiating into osteoblasts and neuron-like cells in vitro. | Linfeng Li Xiujuan Bai Xuelian Gong Hongkun Liu Lina Chen Weijun Guan Yuehui Ma | 2009 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2009,36,3: | 8 |

| 8 | Laboratory model study of newly deposited dredger fills using improved multiple-vacuum preloading technique显示文摘Problems continue to be encountered concerning the traditional vacuum preloading method in field during the treatment of newly deposited dredger fills.In this paper,an improved multiple-vacuum preloading method was developed to consolidate newly dredger fills that are hydraulically placed in seawater for land reclamation in Lingang Industrial Zone of Tianjin City,China.With this multiplevacuum preloading method,the newly deposited dredger fills could be treated effectively by adopting a novel moisture separator and a rapid improvement technique without sand cushion.A series of model tests was conducted in the laboratory for comparing the results from the multiple-vacuum preloading method and the traditional one.Ten piezometers and settlement plates were installed to measure the variations in excess pore water pressures and moisture content,and vane shear strength was measured at different positions.The testing results indicate that water dischargeetime curves obtained by the traditional vacuum preloading method can be divided into three phases:rapid growth phase,slow growth phase,and steady phase.According to the process of fluid flow concentrated along tiny ripples and building of larger channels inside soils during the whole vacuum loading process,the fluctuations of pore water pressure during each loading step are divided into three phases:steady phase,rapid dissipation phase,and slow dissipation phase.An optimal loading pattern which could have a best treatment effect was proposed for calculating the water discharge and pore water pressure of soil using the improved multiple-vacuum preloading method.For the newly deposited dredger fills at Lingang Industrial Zone of Tianjin City,the best loading step was 20 kPa and the loading of 40-50 k Pa produced the highest drainage consolidation.The measured moisture content and vane shear strength were discussed in terms of the effect of reinforcement,both of which indicate that the multiple-vacuum preloading method has a better treatment effect not only in decreasing the moisture content and increasing the bearing capacity,but also in increasing the process uniformity at different depths of foundation. | Jingjin Liu Huayang Lei Gang Zheng Haizuo Zhou Xuelian Zhang | 2017 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2017,9,5: | 7 |

| 12 | Dendritic BiVO4 decorated with MnOx co-catalyst as an efficient hierarchical catalyst for photocatalytic ozonation显示文摘An appropriate co-catalyst can significantly promote the photocatalytic efficacy, but this has been seldom studied in the visible-light photocatalysis combined with ozone, namely photocatalytic ozonation. In this work, a dendritic bismuth vanadium tetraoxide (BiVO4) material composited with highly dispersed MnOv nanoparticles was synthesized, and its catalytic activity is 86.6% higher than bare BiVO4 in a visible light and ozone combined process. Catalytic ozonation experiments, ultraviolet- visible (UV-Vis) diffuse reflectance spectra and photoluminescence spectra jointly indicate that MnOA plays a triple role in this process. MnOv strengthens the light adsorption and promotes the charge separation on the composite material, and it also shows good activity in catalytic ozonation. The key reactive species in this process is OH, and various pathways for its generation in this process is proposed. | 14 | Decreased miR-325-5p Contributes to Visceral Hypersensitivity Through Post-transcriptional Upregulation of CCL2 in Rat Dorsal Root Ganglia显示文摘Chronic visceral hypersensitivity is an important type of chronic pain with unknown etiology and pathophysiology. Recent studies have shown that epigenetic regulation plays an important role in the development of chronic pain conditions. However, the role of mi RNA-325-5 p in chronic visceral pain remains unknown. The present study was designed to determine the roles and mechanism of mi RNA-325-5 p in a rat model of chronic visceral pain.This model was induced by neonatal colonic inflammation(NCI). In adulthood, NCI led to a significant reduction in the expression of mi RNA-325-5 p in colon-related dorsal root ganglia(DRGs), starting to decrease at the age of4 weeks and being maintained to 8 weeks. Intrathecal administration of mi RNA-325-5 p agomir significantly enhanced the colorectal distention(CRD) threshold in a time-dependent manner. NCI also markedly increased the expression of CCL2(C-C motif chemokine ligand 2) in colon-related DRGs at the m RNA and protein levels relative to age-matched control rats. The expression of CXCL12, IL33, SFRS7, and LGI1 was not significantlyaltered in NCI rats. CCL2 was co-expressed in Neu Npositive DRG neurons but not in glutamine synthetasepositive glial cells. Furthermore, CCL2 was mainly expressed in isolectin B4-binding-and calcitonin generelated peptide-positive DRG neurons but in few NF-200-positive cells. More importantly, CCL2 was expressed in mi R-325-5 p-positive DRG neurons. Intrathecal injection of mi RNA-325-5 p agomir remarkably reduced the upregulation of CCL2 in NCI rats. Administration of Bindarit, an inhibitor of CCL2, markedly raised the CRD threshold in NCI rats in a dose-and time-dependent manner. | 15 | Fusaricidins in Paenibacillus polymyxa A21 and their antagonistic activity against Botrytis cinerea on tomato显示文摘Four kinds of antifungal compounds from an extract of Paenibacillus polymyxa A21 with molecular masses of 883.56, 897.59, 947.55, and 961.58 Da were characterized as the members of fusaricidin-type of antibiotics according to LC-MS analysis. Fusaricidins isolated from culture filtrate displayed high antagonistic activity against several plant fungal pathogens, especially Botrytis cinerea, the causal agent of gray mold. The fusaricidins biosynthetic gene cluster(BGC) from A21 was cloned by PCR and comparative cluster analysis revealed that gene fus TE, the 3′ boundary of the fusaricidin BGC in strain PKB1, was not present in fusaricidin BGC of A21, indicating that fus TE is not necessary for fusaricidin synthesis. Fusaricidin extract from A21 significantly reduced gray mold disease incidence and severity on tomato. The m RNA levels for three pathogenesis-related proteins(PRs) revealed that treatment of tomato leaves with fusaricidin extract induced the expression of PR genes to different levels, suggesting that one reason for the reduction of gray mold infection by fusaricidin is induction of PR proteins, which lead to increased resistance to pathogens. | 16 | Single-cell transcriptomes of peripheral blood cells indicate and elucidate severity of COVID-19显示文摘The blood and immune system of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)infected patients are dysfunctional,and numerous studies have been conducted to resolve their characteristics and pathogenic mechanisms.Nevertheless,the variations of immune responses along with disease severity have not been comprehensively documented.Here,we profiled the single-cell transcriptomes of 96,313 peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs)derived from 12 COVID-19 patients(including four moderate,four severe and four critical cases)and three healthy donors.We showed that proliferative CD8 effector T cells with declined immune functions and cytotoxicity accumulated in the critical stage.By contrast,the quantity of natural killer(NK)cells was significantly reduced,while they exhibited enhanced immune activities.Notably,a gradually attenuated responseto COVID-19 along with disease severity was observed in monocytes,in terms of cellular composition,transcriptional discrepancy and transcription factor regulatory network.Furthermore,we identified immune cell-type dependent cytokine signatures distinguishing the severity of COVID-19 patients.In addition,cell interactions between CD8 effector T/NK cells and monocytes mediated by inflammatory cytokines were enhanced in moderate and severe stages,but weakened in critical cases.Collectively,our work uncovers the cellular and molecular players underlying the disordered and heterogeneous immune responses associated with COVID-19 severity,which could provide valuable insights for the treatment of critical COVID-19 patients. | Xiaowei Xie Xuelian Cheng Gaoxiang Wang Biao Zhang Mengyao Liu Liting Chen Hui Cheng Sha Hao Jianfeng Zhou Ping Zhu Tao Cheng | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021,64,10: | 3 |
| 17 | Excretion of manure-borne estrogens and androgens and their potential risk estimation in the Yangtze River Basin显示文摘The Yangtze River is the longest river in China, and the river basin spans one fifth of the area of the whole country. Based on statistical data, the excretion of manure-borne steroid hormones, including steroid estrogens(SEs) and steroid androgens(SAs), in 10 provinces of China within the region has been estimated. The potential environmental and ecological risk of manure-borne steroid estrogens to the surface water in this region was also assessed. The manure-borne SE and SA excretions in the 10 provinces and municipalities vary in the order: Sichuan > Hunan > Hubei > Yunnan > Jiangsu > Anhui > Jiangxi >Chongqing > Qinghai > Shanghai. The highest increase of manure-borne SEs(1434.3 kg)and SAs(408.5 kg) was found in Hunan and Hubei provinces, respectively, and the total excretion in 2013 was 65% more than 15 years earlier in these two provinces. However, the emissions in Anhui and Shanghai decreased in this 15 year period of time. Swine urine,chicken feces, cattle urine, and laying hen feces were considered the dominant sources of manure-borne E1, βE2, αE2, and SAs, respectively. Although Jiangsu province did not have the largest excretion of manure-borne SEs, it had the highest level of predicted17β-estradiol equivalency(EEQs) value of 16.65 ng/L in surface water because of the limited surface water resources.
