| 1 | Quasi-real-time simulation of rotating drum using discrete element method with parallel GPU computing显示文摘Real-time simulation of industrial equipment is a huge challenge nowadays. The high performance and fine-grained parallel computing provided by graphics processing units (GPUs) bring us closer to our goals. In this article, an industrial-scale rotating drum is simulated using simplified discrete element method (DEM) without consideration of the tangential components of contact force and particle rotation. A single GPU is used first to simulate a small model system with about 8000 particles in realtime, and the simulation is then scaled up to industrial scale using more than 200 GPUs in a 1D domain-decomposition parallelization mode. The overall speed is about 1/11 of the real-time. | 2 | Microstructure of premixed propane/air flame in the transition from laminar to turbulent combustion显示文摘In order to explore the flame structure and propagation behavior of premixed propane/air in the transi-tion from laminar to turbulent combustion, the high speed camera and Schlieren images methods were used to record the photograph of flame propagation process in a semi-vented pipe. Meanwhile, the super-thin thermocouple and ionization current probe methods were applied to detect the temperature distribution and reaction intensity of combustion reaction. The characteristics of propane/air flame propagation and microstructure were analyzed in detail by the experimental results coupled with chemical reaction thermodynamics. In the test, the particular tulip flame behavior and the formation process in the laminar-turbulent transition were disclosed clearly. | 3 | Development of Hydro-Informatic Modelling System and its application显示文摘The understanding of hydrological cycle is the core of hydrology and the scientific base of water resources management. Meanwhile, simulation of hydrological cycle has long been regarded as an important tool for the assessment, utilization and protection of water resources. In this paper, a new tool named Hydro-Informatic Modelling System (HIMS) has been developed and introduced with case studies in the Yellow River Basin in China and 331 catchments in Australia. The case studies showed that HIMS can be employed as an integrated platform for hydrological simulation in different regions. HIMS is a modular based framework of hydrological model designed for different utilization such as flood forecasting, water resources planning and evaluating hydrological impacts of climate change and human activities. The unique of HIMS is its flexibility in providing alternative modules in the simulation of hydrological cycle, which successfully overcome the difficulties in the availability of input data, the uncertainty of parameters, and the difference of rainfall-runoff processes. | 4 | Analysis of genetic architecture and favorable allele usage of agronomic traits in a large collection of Chinese rice accessions显示文摘Genotyping and phenotyping large natural populations provide opportunities for population genomic analysis and genome-wide association studies(GWAS). Several rice populations have been re-sequenced in the past decade;however, many major Chinese rice cultivars were not included in these studies. Here, we report large-scale genomic and phenotypic datasets for a collection mainly comprised of 1,275 rice accessions of widely planted cultivars and parental hybrid rice lines from China. The population was divided into three indica/Xian and three japonica/Geng phylogenetic subgroups that correlate strongly with their geographic or breeding origins. We acquired a total of 146 phenotypic datasets for 29 agronomic traits under multi-environments for different subpopulations. With GWAS, we identified a total of 143 significant association loci, including three newly identified candidate genes or alleles that control heading date or amylose content. Our genotypic analysis of agronomically important genes in the population revealed that many favorable alleles are underused in elite accessions, suggesting they may be used to provide improvements in future breeding efforts. | 5 | Simulation and Experiment on Workability for Cold Pressure Forming of Sheet Metal Part with Step Cross-section显示文摘In modern manufacturing,a new type of sheet metal part with step cross-section in both inner hole and outer edge is proposed.The traditional stamping separating processes can only produce sheet metal part with vertical cross-section.According to the latest developing theory and potential of cold pressure forming:combination of pressure and cold forging,a new flow control forming of sheet metal(FCF) is excogitated based on blanking process of general stamping and combined with cold forging processes such as extrusion and coining,etc,which is aiming at the above-mentioned new type of sheet metal part.With utilization of this new process,the new type of sheet metal parts can be manufactured.In order to shorten the testing period,the numerical simulation was carried out by using DEFORM-3D software,and both deformation and mechanics rules were analyzed.Based on the simulation,both punching part and blanked parts of this new type were successfully developed.Then a new conception of optimal distance between the step walls of inner hole and outside edge was proposed and the design principle for its numerical value was inferred.Furthermore,a mold set for combination of stamping & cold forging was designed and manufactured,by which the technologic experiments were taken for validation with Aluminum plate of thickness 2.35 mm for power battery cover board,which verified the principle of the distance between the step walls.The research of cold pressure forming of thin sheet metal with step cross-section is significant,not only to the development of modern mechanical manufacture,but also to metal plastic forming science. | LU Xianfeng LI Hufeng ZHANG Yuerong ZHOU Yong | 2010 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2010,23,2: | 3 |
| 6 | Continuum-based slip model and its validity for micro-channel flows显示文摘In this paper, the low Mach number he- lium and nitrogen flows in micro-channels are inves- tigated numerically with variations of inlet to outlet pressure ratios, aspect ratios, out pressures and fluid mediums by using different continuum-based slip models. Theoretical solutions based on perturbation expansions of the Navier-Stokes equations have been developed under different order slip conditions. The validity of slip models has been examined by the corresponding experiments and the DSMC method at different Knudsen numbers. Simulations have shown good predictions of the compressibility, rarefaction and thermal creep effects on micro-channel flows with the present slip models. The higher order slip models relatively decrease the rarefaction effects comparing with a first-order slip model. Both of the Knudsen number and the Reynolds number have been identified as key parameters, which govern the rarefaction effects and thermal creep effects, respec- tively. The present slip models have been also dem- onstrated to be appropriate for micro-channel nitro- gen flows with the Knudsen number less than 0.15, and the higher order slip conditions improve the Na- vier-Stokes predictions in the slip flow regime with Kn<0.08.
