1Adjuvant transcatheter arterial chemoembolization after curative resection for hepatocellular carcinoma patients with solitary tumor and microvascular invasion: a randomized clinical trial of efficacy and safety显示文摘Background:The optimal strategy for adjuvant therapy after curative resection for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)patients with solitary tumor and microvascular invasion(MVI)is controversial.This trial evaluated the efficacy and safety of adjuvant transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE)after hepatectomy versus hepatectomy alone in HCC patients with a solitary tumor≥5 cm and MVI.Methods:In this randomized,open-labeled,phase III trial,HCC patients with a solitary tumor≥5 cm and MVI were randomly assigned(1:1)to receive either 1-2 cycles of adjuvant TACE after hepatectomy(Hepatectomy-TACE)or hepatectomy alone(Hepatectomy Alone).The primary endpoint was disease-free survival(DFS);the secondary end-points included overall survival(OS)and adverse events.Results:Between June 1,2009,and December 31,2012,250 patients were enrolled and randomly assigned to the Hepatectomy-TACE group(n=125)or the Hepatectomy Alone group(n=125).Clinicopathological characteristics were balanced between the two groups.The median follow-up time from randomization was 37.5 months[interquartile range 18.3-48.2 months].The median DFS was significantly longer in the Hepatectomy-TACE group than in the Hepatectomy Alone group[17.45 months(95%confidence interval[CI]11.99-29.14)vs.9.27 months(95%CI 6.05-13.70),hazard ratio[HR]=0.70(95%CI 0.52-0.95),P=0.020],respectively.The median OS was also significantly longer in the Hepatectomy-TACE group than in the Hepatectomy Alone group[44.29 months(95%CI 25.99-62.58)vs.22.37 months(95%CI 10.84-33.91),HR=0.68(95%CI 0.48-0.97),P=0.029].Treatment-related adverse events were more frequently observed in the Hepatectomy-TACE group,although these were generally mild and manageable.The most common grade 3 or 4 adverse events in both groups were neutropenia and liver dysfunction.Conclusion:Hepatectomy followed by adjuvant TACE is an appropriate option after radical resection in HCC patients with solitary tumor≥5 cm and MVI,with acceptable toxicity.Wei Wei Pei-En Jian Shao-Hua Li Zhi-Xing Guo Yong-Fa Zhang Yi-Hong Ling Xiao-Jun Lin Li Xu Ming Shi Lie Zheng Min-Shan Chen Rong-Ping Guo 2018Cancer Communications2018,38,1:62
2Episodic crustal anatexis and the formation of Paiku composite leucogranitic pluton in the Malashan Gneiss Dome, Southern Tibet显示文摘The Paiku composite leucogranitic pluton in the Malashan gneiss dome within the Tethyan Himalaya consists of tourmaline leucogranite,two-mica granite and garnet-bearing leucogranite.Zircon U-Pb dating yields that(1)tourmaline leucogranite formed at28.2±0.5 Ma and its source rock experienced simultaneous metamorphism and anatexis at 33.6±0.6 Ma;(2)two-mica granite formed at 19.8±0.5 Ma;(3)both types of leucogranite contain inherited zircon grains with an age peak at^480 Ma.These leucogranites show distinct geochemistry in major and trace elements as well as in Sr-Nd-Hf isotope compositions.As compared to the two-mica granites,the tourmaline ones have higher initial Sr and zircon Hf isotope compositions,indicating that they were derived from different source rocks combined with different melting reactions.Combined with available literature data,it is suggested that anatexis at^35 Ma along the Himalayan orogenic belt might have triggered the initial movement of the Southern Tibetan Detachment System(STDS),and led to the tectonic transition from compressive shortening to extension.Such a tectonic transition could be a dominant factor that initiates large scale decompressional melting of fertile high-grade metapelites along the Himalayan orogenic belt.Crustal anatexis at^28 Ma and^20 Ma represent large-scale melting reactions associated with the movement of the STDS.GAO LiE ZENG LingSen HOU KeJun GUO ChunLi TANG SuoHan XIE KeJia HU GuYue WANG Li 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,28:23
3Role of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells in a rat model of severe acute pancreatitis显示文摘AIM:To investigate the role and potential mechanisms of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs) in severe acute peritonitis(SAP).METHODS:Pancreatic acinar cells from Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into three groups:nonsodium deoxycholate(SDOC) group(non-SODC group),SDOC group,and a MSCs intervention group(i.e.,a co-culture system of MSCs and pancreatic acinar cells + SDOC).The cell survival rate,the concentration of malonaldehyde(MDA),the density of superoxide dismutase(SOD),serum amylase(AMS) secretion rate and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) leakage rate were detected at various time points.In a separate study,Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into either an SAP group or an SAP + MSCs group.Serum AMS,MDA and SOD,interleukin(IL)-6,IL-10,and tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α levels,intestinal mucosa injury scores and proliferating cells of small intestinal mucosa were measured at various time points after injecting either MSCs or saline into rats.In both studies,the protective effect of MSCs was evaluated.RESULTS:In vitro,The cell survival rate of pancreatic acinar cells and the density of SOD were significantly reduced,and the concentration of MDA,AMS secretion rate and LDH leakage rate were significantly increased in the SDOC group compared with the MSCs intervention group and the Non-SDOC group at each time point.In vivo,Serum AMS,IL-6,TNF-α and MAD level in the SAP + MSCs group were lower than the SAP group;however serum IL-10 level was higher than the SAP group.Serum SOD level was higher than the SAP group at each time point,whereas a significant betweengroup difference in SOD level was only noted after 24 h.Intestinal mucosa injury scores was significantly reduced and the proliferating cells of small intestinal mucosa became obvious after injecting MSCs.CONCLUSION:MSCs can effectively relieve injury to pancreatic acinar cells and small intestinal epithelium,promote the proliferation of enteric epithelium and repair of the mucosa,attenuate systemic inflammation in rats with SAP.Xiao-Huang Tu Jing-Xiang Song Xiao-Jun Xue Xian-Wei Guo Yun-Xia Ma Zhi-Yao Chen Zhong-Dong Zou Lie Wang 2012World Journal of Gastroenterology2012,18,18:13

5Design of variable screw pitch rib snapping roller and residue cutter for corn harvesters显示文摘The blocking between two snapping rollers will seriously constrict the harvesting efficiency for corn harvester.A variable screw pitch rib snapping roller was developed to solve this problem.The comparative experiment between fixed screw pitch rib snapping rollers and variable screw pitch rib snapping rollers illustrated that variable screw pitch ribs can avoid corn-stalk blocking effectively,and it can improve working efficiency by 56.7%.Conservation tillage with standing corn residue was testified that it had a strong control of soil wind erosion.In order to implement this mode of conservation tillage at a production scale,a cutter was developed in this study.Subsequently,two experiments were conducted,one was to test the cutting ratio(defined as the totally cut off stalk population divided by total stalk population),and the other one was to test standing-residue height.The experiment results showed that the mean cutting ratio increased significantly(p<0.05)along with increasing height of cutter-head above the ground(cutting height);the cutting ratio’s mean value increased significantly(p<0.05)along with the decreasing angle between the cutter-head and the ground(cutting angle).The average standing-residue height increased along with the increase of cutting height from 300 mm to 500 mm.The average standing-residue height increased significantly(p<0.05)along with the decrease of cutting angle from 15°to 0°.Therefore,the newly designed snapping roller can improve the harvesting efficiency and prolong the working life of the cutting table;and the cutter can promote the popularization of the conservation tillage with standing corn residue in Northeast China.Wang Gang Jia Honglei Tang Lie Zhuang Jian Jiang Xinming Guo Mingzhuo 2016International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2016,9,1:6
6Detection of Huanglongbing(citrus greening) based on hyperspectral image analysis and PCR显示文摘Huanglongbing (HLB, citrus greening) is one of the most serious quarantine diseases of citrus worldwide. To monitor in real-time, recognize diseased trees, and efficiently prevent and control HLB disease in citrus, it is necessary to develop a rapid diagnostic method to detect HLB infected plants without symptoms. This study used Newhall navel orange plants as the research subject, and collected normal color leaf samples and chlorotic leaf samples from a healthy orchard and an HLB-infected orchard, respectively. First, hyperspectral data of the upper and lower leaf surfaces were obtained, and then the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to detect the HLB bacterium in each leaf. The PCR test results showed that all samples from the healthy orchard were negative, and a portion of the samples from the infected orchard were positive. According to these results, the leaf samples from the orchards were divided into disease-free leaves and HLB-positive leaves, and the least squares support vector machine recognition model was established based on the leaf hyperspectral reflectance. The effect on the model of the spectra obtained from the upper and lower leaf surfaces was investigated and different pretreatment methods were compared and analyzed. It was observed that the HLB recognition rate values of the calibration and validation sets based on upper leaf surface spectra under 9-point smoothing pretreatment were 100% and 92.5%, respectively. The recognition rate values based on lower leaf surface spectra under the second-order derivative pretreatment were also 100% and 92.5%, respectively. Both upper and lower leaf surface spectra were available for recognition of HLB-infected leaves, and the HLB PCR-positive leaves could be distinguished from the healthy by the hyperspectral modeling analysis. 7Kruppel-like factor 10 protects against acute viral myocarditis by negatively regulating cardiac MCP-1 expression显示文摘Viral myocarditis(VMC)is a cardiac disease associated with myocardial inflammation and injury induced by virus infection.Cardiomyocytes have recently been regarded as key players in eliciting and modulating inflammation within the myocardium.Kruppel-like factor 10(KLF10)is a crucial regulator of various pathological processes and plays different roles in a variety of diseases.However,its role in VMC induced by coxsackievirus B3(CVB3)infection remains unknown.In this study,we report that cardiac KLF10 confers enhanced protection against viral myocarditis.We found that KLF10 expression was downregulated upon CVB3 infection.KLF10 deficiency enhanced cardiac viral replication and aggravated VMC progress.Bone marrow chimera experiments indicated that KLF10 expression in nonhematopoietic cells was involved in the pathogenesis of VMC.We further identified MCP-1 as a novel target of KLF10 in cardiomyocytes,and KLF10 cooperated with histone deacetylase 1(HDAC1)to negatively regulate MCP-1 expression by binding its promoter,leading to activation of MCP-1 transcription and recruitment of Ly6C^(high) monocytes/macrophages into the myocardium.This novel mechanism of MCP-1 regulation by KLF10 might provide new insights into the pathogenesis of VMC and a potential therapeutic target for VMC.Jie Yang Hongkai Zhang Xuelian Wang Jing Guo Lin Wei Yahui Song Yuan Luo YinXia Zhao Malayannan Subramaniam Thomas C.Spelsberg Lie Wang Wei Xu Min Li 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,9:3
8Nonswellable hydrogels with robust micro/nano-structures and durable superoleophobic surfaces under seawater显示文摘Hydrogels, composed mainly of water trapped in three dimensional cross-linked polymer networks, have been widely utilized to construct underwater superoleophobic surfaces. However, the swelling nature and instability of hydrogels under complex marine environment will weaken their underwater superoleophobicity. Herein, we synthesize structured poly(2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate)(PHEMA) hydrogels by using sandpaper as templates. The robust non-swelling of PHEMA hydrogel ensures that micro/nano-structures on the surface of PHEMA hydrogels can be well maintained. Moreover, when roughness Ra of about 3~4 μm, the surface has superior oil-repellency. Additionally, even after immersing in seawater for one-month, their breaking strength and toughness can be well kept.
