2Inhibition of lipogenesis and induction of apoptosis by valproic acid in prostate cancer cells via the C/EBPα/SREBP-1 pathway显示文摘Lipid metabolism reprogramming is now accepted as a new hallmark of cancer.Hence,targeting the lipogenesis pathway may be a potential avenue for cancer treatment.Valproic acid(VPA)emerges as a promising drug for cancer therapy;however,the underlying mechanisms are not yet fully understood.In this study,we aimed to investigate the effects and mechanisms of VPA on cell viability,lipogenesis,and apoptosis in human prostate cancer PC-3 and LNCaP cells.The results showed that VPA significantly reduced lipid accumulation and induced apoptosis of PC-3 and LNCaP cells.Moreover,the expression of CCAAT/enhancer-binding proteinα(C/EBPα),as well as sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1(SREBP-1)and its downstream effectors,including fatty acid synthase(FASN),acetyl CoA carboxylase 1(ACC1),and anti-apoptotic B-cell lymphoma 2(Bcl-2),was markedly decreased in PC-3 and LNCaP cells after VPA administration.Mechanistically,the overexpression of C/EBPαrescued the levels of SREBP-1,FASN,ACC1,and Bcl-2,enhanced lipid accumulation,and attenuated apoptosis of VPA-treated PC-3 cells.Conversely,knockdown of C/EBPαby siRNA further decreased lipid accumulation,enhanced apoptosis,and reduced the levels of SREBP-1,FASN,ACC1,and Bcl-2.In addition,SREBP-1a and 1c enhanced the expressions of FASN and ACC1,but only SREBP-1a had a significant effect on Bcl-2 expression in VPA-treated PC-3 cells.Based on the results,we concluded that VPA significantly inhibits cell viability via decreasing lipogenesis and inducing apoptosis via the C/EBPα/SREBP-1 pathway in prostate cancer cells.Therefore,VPA that targets lipid metabolism and apoptosis is a promising candidate for PCa chemotherapy.Bo Pang Juanjuan Zhang Xi Zhang Jihong Yuan Yanan Shi Ling Qiao 2021Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,3:2

4Carbon Dots-in-Zeolite via In-Situ Solvent-Free Thermal Crystallization:Achieving High-Efficiency and Ultralong Afterglow Dual Emission显示文摘Organic afterglow materials are highly desirable for optoelectronic applications,but they usually suffer from complex preparation process,low quantum efficiency,and short lifetime due to the ultrafast deactivation of the highly active excited states involved.Here,we succeeded in achieving solventfree thermal syntheses of high-efficiency afterglow CDs@zeolite composite materials by simply grinding the solid raw materials of zeolite and precursor CDs at room temperature,followed by thermal crystallization.This method afforded maximum embedding of CDs into growing zeolite crystals,as well as strong host–guest interaction to surpass the nonradiative transition of CDs,thus producing composite materials with ultralong dual emission of thermally activated delayed fluorescence and room temperature phosphorescence with a record high lifetime of 1.7 and 2.1 s,respectively,and the quantum yield of 90.7%.Furthermore,in a preliminary experiment,we applied the composite materials in alternatingcurrent light-emitting diode supplementary lighting,which exhibited a promising potential in optoelectronic applications.Hongyue Zhang Kaikai Liu Jiancong Liu Bolun Wang Chengyu Li Wei Song Jiyang Li Ling Huang Jihong Yu 2020CCS Chemistry2020,2,3:1

6Facile active control of a pulsed erbium-doped fiber laser using modulation depth tunable carbon nanotubes显示文摘Short pulsed fiber lasers have been widely made using single-walled carbon nanotubes as a saturable absorber(SA). However, most of the currently used devices can only operate in one determined operation state with an unchangeable modulation SA depth in the cavity, which significantly limits their application in photonic devices.In this paper, well-aligned carbon nanotube arrays are synthesized using zeolite AlPO_4-5 as a template, which features anisotropic optical absorption. The linear optical absorption of the as-synthesized carbon nanotube arrays can easily be tuned by adjusting a polarization controller, thus providing a tunable modulation depth for the carbon nanotube SA. By exploiting this SA in an erbium-doped fiber laser cavity, both Q-switched and modelocked pulsed lasers are achieved by simply adjusting a polarization controller under a fixed pump power of 330 mW. In addition, the repetition rate of the Q-switching and pulse duration of the mode-locking can be tuned according to the variation of modulation depth. 14DanHong Injection inhibits the development of primary abdominal aortic aneurysms in apoE knockout mice显示文摘Clinical observations indicate that DanHong Injection(DHI)can increase blood flow and reduce various syndromes in patients with cardiovascular disease.However,it still needs to define the function of DHI and the involved mechanisms in details,such as the protective effect on the development of primary abdominal aortic aneurysms(AAAs).In this study,we determined whether DHI is able to inhibit AAA in apoE knockout(apoE-/-)mice.Thirty apoE-/-male mice on high-fat diet(0.5%cholesterol,21%fat)were randomly divided into two groups and received i.p.injection of saline(100 lL/day)and DHI(100 lL/day),respectively,for 16 weeks.At the end of experiment,we determined the development of atherosclerosis in en face aorta and aneurysms,pathological morphology of arterial wall,and serum lipid levels.We also determined the expression of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1),MMP-2,and MMP-9mRNA in aortic wall using real-time RT-PCR.Our results indicated that high-fat diet induced the development of AAAs in apoE-/-mice,but the induction was totally blocked by DHI(P\0.01).The result of staining of abdominal aortic cross sections showed that DHI maintained the collagen content in arterial wall,thereby preventing the animals from the development of AAA.Although DHI had little effect on serum total-and LDLcholesterol levels,it reduced the expression of MCP-1,MMP-2,and MMP-9 mRNA in aortic wall(P\0.01).Taken together,our study suggests that DHI can inhibit the high-fat diet-induced AAA formation.The inhibitory effects may be related to the maintenance of the collagen content and inhibition of expression of AAA-related genes.Our study may suggest a new application of DHI in clinics.Mengyang Liu Yuanli Chen Xiaoxiao Yang Ling Zhang Tao Zhao Buchang Zhao Lifu Jia Yan Zhu Xiumei Gao Boli Zhang Xiaoju Li Rong Xiang Jihong Han Yajun Duan 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,13:0

18Heat transfer and temperature evolution in underground mininginduced overburden fracture and ground fissures: Optimal time window of UAV infrared monitoring显示文摘Heat transfer and temperature evolution in overburden fracture and ground fissures are one of the essential topics for the identification of ground fissures via unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) infrared imager. In this study, discrete element software UDEC was employed to investigate the overburden fracture field under different mining conditions. Multiphysics software COMSOL were employed to investigate heat transfer and temperature evolution of overburden fracture and ground fissures under the influence of mining condition, fissure depth, fissure width, and month alternation. The UAV infrared field measurements also provided a calibration for numerical simulation. The results showed that for ground fissures connected to underground goaf(Fissure Ⅰ), the temperature difference increased with larger mining height and shallow buried depth. In addition, Fissure Ⅰ located in the boundary of the goaf have a greater temperature difference and is easier to be identified than fissures located above the mining goaf. For ground fissures having no connection to underground goaf(Fissure Ⅱ), the heat transfer is affected by the internal resistance of the overlying strata fracture when the depth of Fissure Ⅱ is greater than10 m, the temperature of Fissure Ⅱ gradually equals to the ground temperature as the fissures’ depth increases, and the fissures are difficult to be identified. The identification effect is most obvious for fissures larger than 16 cm under the same depth. In spring and summer, UAV infrared identification of mining fissures should be carried out during nighttime.
