| 1 | A journey to understand wheat Fusarium head blight resistance in the Chinese wheat landrace Wangshuibai显示文摘Fusarium head blight(FHB) or scab caused by Fusarium graminearum is a major threat to wheat production in China as well as in the world. To combat this disease, multiple efforts have been carried out internationally. In this article, we review our long-time effort in identifying the resistance genes and dissecting the resistance mechanisms by both forward and reverse genetics approaches in the last two decades. We present recent progress in resistance QTL identification, candidate functional gene discovery, marker-assisted improvement of FHB resistant varieties, and findings in investigating association of signal molecules, such as Ca^(++),SA, JA, and ET, with FHB response, with the assistance from rapidly growing genomics platforms. | 2 | Terrestrial heat flow in Junggar Basin, Northwest China显示文摘Based on temperature logs of 117 boreholes and thermal conductivity of 119 rock samples, the first group of 35 heat flow data in the Junggar Basin are presented. The thermal gradients vary between 11.6 and 26.5℃/km , and the thermal conductivity changes from 0.17 to 3.6 W/mK. Heat flow ranges from 23.4 to 53.7 mW/m2 with a mean of (42.3±7.7) mW/m2. The heat flow pattern shows that heat flow is higher in the uplifts and lower in the depressions. | 3 | Geothermal measurements in the pilot-boreholes of the China Continental Scientific Drilling显示文摘The geothermal measurements in the pilot-boreholes of the China Continental Scientific Drilling (CCSD) indicate that the temperature gradients in the target area of the deep drilling range from 19 to 26℃/km, which is lower than that (25-30℃/km) for the global continental area and similar to that for the KTB (21-28℃/km). Thermal conductivity measurements for 44 core samples show that the ultra-high pressure (UHP) metamorphic rocks have 50% higher thermal conductivity (with a mean of 3.94±1.26 W/mK) than that for the average value of the upper crust. The measured heat flow values vary between 76 and 80 mW/m2, higher than that for the global continental area (65±1.6 mW/m2) and the continental China (61±15.5mW/m2) as well as the adjacent North Jiangsu Basin (68 mW/m2), butlower than that below 1000 m in the KTB (85 mW/m2). | 4 | Radiation-pressure-driven mechanical oscillations in silica microdisk resonators on chip显示文摘We demonstrate radiation-pressure-driven mechanical oscillations from high optical quality factor silica microdisk resonators on chip. Mechanical quality factors of 3520 in air and 12540 in vacuum for the fundamental radial breathing modes are obtained from 73 μm-diameter silica microdisks with mechanical frequencies of ~51 MHz. | 5 | Plasma biomarker screening for liver fibrosis with the N-terminal isotope tagging strategy显示文摘A non-invasive diagnostic approach is crucial for the evaluation of severity of liver disease,treatment decisions,and assessing drug efficacy.This study evaluated plasma proteomic profiling via an N-terminal isotope tagging strategy coupled with liquid chromatography/Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry measurement to detect liver fibrosis staging.Pooled plasma from different liver fibrosis stages,which were assessed in advance by the current gold-standard of liver biopsy,was quantitatively analyzed.A total of 72 plasma proteins were found to be dysregulated during the fibrogenesis process,and this finding constituted a valuable candidate plasma biomarker bank for follow-up analysis.Validation results of fibronectin by Western blotting reconfirmed the mass-based data.Ingenuity Pathways Analysis showed four types of metabolic networks for the functional effect of liver fibrosis disease in chronic hepatitis B patients.Consequently,quantitative proteomics via the N-terminal acetyl isotope labeling technique provides an effective and useful tool for screening plasma candidate biomarkers for liver fibrosis.We quantitatively monitored the fibrogenesis process in CHB patients.We discovered many new valuable candidate biomarkers for the diagnosis of liver fibrosis and also partly identified the mechanism involved in liver fibrosis disease.These results provide a clearer understanding of liver fibrosis pathophysiology and will also hopefully lead to improvement of clinical diagnosis and treatment. | LI ShuLong LIU Xin WEI Lai WANG HuiFen ZHANG JiYang WEI HanDong QIAN XiaoHong JIANG Ying HE FuChu | 2011 | Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,5: | 6 |
| 6 | Visible Kerr comb generation in a high-Q silica microdisk resonator with a large wedge angle显示文摘This paper describes the specially designed geometry of a dry-etched large-wedge-angle silica microdisk resonator that enables anomalous dispersion in the 780 nm wavelength regime. This anomalous dispersion occurs naturally without the use of a mode-hybridization technique to control the geometrical dispersion. By fabricating a1-μm-thick silica microdisk with a wedge angle as large as 56° and an optical Q-factor larger than 107, we achieve a visible Kerr comb that covers the wavelength interval of 700–897 nm. | 7 | Effect of preoperative nutrition therapy type and duration on short-time outcomes in gastric cancer patient with gastric outlet obstruction显示文摘Objective:To avoid perioperative complications caused malnutrition,nutrition therapy is necessary in gastric outlet obstruction(GOO)patients.Compared to parenteral nutrition(PN),enteral nutrition(EN)is associated with many advantages.This study aimed to investigate whether preoperative EN has beneficial clinical effects compared to preoperative PN in gastric cancer patients with GOO undergoing surgery.Methods:According to the methods of preoperative nutrition therapy,143 patients were divided into EN group(n=42)and PN group(n=101)between January 2013 and December 2017 at the Chinese People’s Liberation Army General Hospital.Multiple logistic regression models were used to assess the association between the methods of preoperative nutrition therapy and postoperative day of flatus passage.The generalized additive model and twopiecewise linear regression model were used to calculate the inflection point of the preoperative nutritional therapy time on the postoperative day of flatus passage in the PN group.Results:EN shortened the postoperative day of flatus passage in gastric cancer patients with GOO,which is a protective factor,especially in patients who underwent non-radical operations and the postoperative day of flatus passage reduced when the preoperative PN therapy was up to 3 d and a longer PN therapy(>3 d)did not accelerate the postoperative recovery of gastrointestinal functions.Conclusions:Preoperative EN therapy would benefit gastric cancer patients with GOO by accelerating postoperative recovery.For patients with absolute obstruction,no more than 3-day PN therapy is recommended if patients can tolerate general anesthesia and surgery. | Jiyang Li Shaoqing Li Hongqing Xi Peifa Liu Wenquan Liang Yunhe Gao Chuang Wang Bo Wei Lin Chen Yun Tang Zhi Qiao | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2021,33,2: | 4 |

| 9 | High-Q silica microdisk optical resonators with large wedge angles on a silicon chip显示文摘We experimentally demonstrate high optical quality factor silica microdisk resonators on a silicon chip with large wedge angles by reactive ion etching. For 2-μm-thick microresonators, we have achieved wedge angles of 59°, 63°,70°, and 79° with optical quality factors of 2.4 × 10~7, 8.1 × 10~6, 5.9 × 10~6, and 7.4 × 10~6, respectively, from ~80 μm diameter microresonators in the 1550 nm wavelength band. | 10 | Metal-Organic Framework-based Wood Aerogel for Effective Removal of Micro/Nano Plastics显示文摘The large amount of microplastic pollution in the aquatic environment has been regarded as a major challenge facing the world. Although some traditional water treatment processes can effectively remove microplastics in the millimeter range, research is still needed to solve the problem of removing smaller microplastics. Here, we made a durable zinc metal-organic framework-based composite material ZIF-8@Aerogel by in situ growing ZIF-8 on wood aerogel fibers, which can successfully remove microplastics in simulated water and seawater. The removal efficiencies on micro/nano plastics including poly(1,1-difluoroethylene)(60-110 nm) and polystyrene(90-140 nm) reached 91.4% and 85.8%, respectively. | 11 | Use of stem cell transplantation to treat epilepsy A Web of Science-based literature analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To identify global research trends in the use of stem cell transplantation to treat epilepsy. DATA RETRIEVAL: We performed a bibliometric analysis of studies on the use of stem cell transplantation to treat epilepsy during 2002-2011, retrieved from Web of Science, using the key words epilepsy or epileptic or epilepticus or seizure and 'stem cell'. SELECTION CRITERIA: Inclusion criteria: (a) peer-reviewed published articles on the use of stem cell transplantation to treat epilepsy indexed in Web of Science; (b) original research articles, reviews, meeting abstracts, proceedings papers, book chapters, editorial material, and news items. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: (a) Annual publication output; (b) type of publication; (c) publication by research field; (d) publication by journal; (e) publication by author; (f) publication by country and institution; (g) publications by institution in China; (h) most-cited papers; and (i) papers published by Chinese authors or institutions. RESULTS: A total of 460 publications on the use of stem cell transplantation to treat epilepsy were retrieved from Web of Science, 2002-2011. The number of publications gradually increased over the 10-year study period. Articles and reviews constituted the major types of publications. More than half of the studies were in the field of neuroscience/neurology. The most prolific journals for this topic were Epilepsia, Bone Marrow Transplantation, and Journal of Neuroscience. Of the 460 publications, almost half came from American authors and institutions; relatively few papers were published by Chinese authors or institutions. CONCLUSION: Literature on stem cell transplantation for epilepsy includes many reports of basic research, but few of clinical trials or treatments. Exact effects are not yet evaluated. Epilepsy rehabilitation is a long-term, complex, and comprehensive system engineering. | 12 | A Markov decision problem in a risk model with interest rate and Markovian environment显示文摘We consider the compound binomial model in a Markovian environment presented by Cossette et al.(2004). We modify the model via assuming that the company receives interest on the surplus and a positive real-valued premium per unit time, and introducing a control strategy of periodic dividend payments. A Markov decision problem arises and the control objective is to maximize the cumulative expected discounted dividends paid to the shareholders until ruin minus a discounted penalty for ruin. We show that under the absence of a ceiling of dividend rates the optimal strategy is a conditional band strategy given the current state of the environment process. Under the presence of a ceiling for dividend rates, the character of the optimal control strategy is given.
