2Depositional chemistry of chert during late Paleozoic from western Guangxi and its implication for the tectonic evolution of the Youjiang Basin显示文摘Continual deep-water sediments from the late Early Devonian to the Late Permian extended in wide areas of western Guangxi.We analyzed the major,trace,and rare earth elements of the Upper Paleozoic cherts in Badu,western Guangxi.High non-terrigenous SiO2 contents(Sinon-ter/Sibulk(%)> 80%) and pure chert components(> 70%) indicate a large extent of silicification in the Upper Paleozoic cherts,except for the Upper Devonian-Lower Carboniferous Luzhai Formation cherts,which have lower non-terrigenous SiO2 contents(avg.71.8%) and pure chert components(40%-70%).The Al/(Al+Fe+Mn) ratios and Feter/Febulk(%) values of samples from the lowest horizon of the Pingen Formation are 0.05-0.26,13.1%-14.5%,respectively,indicating hydrothermal origins.All other samples show high Al/(Al+Fe+Mn) ratios(0.39-0.81) and high Feter/Febulk(%) values(23.1%-186.8%),indicating non-hydrothermal origins.The Pingen Formation and Liujiang Formation cherts show slightly-moderately negative Ce anomalies(0.71±0.07,0.81±0.08,respectively) and higher Y/Ho ratios(33.49±1.27,36.10±2.05,respectively) than PAAS.This suggests that these cherts were deposited in the open marine basin,rather than in the intracontinental rift basin as previously assumed.The Luzhai Formation cherts may be deposited near the seamount or seafloor plateaus with no negative Ce anomalies(1.09±0.07) and no significant Y-Ho fractionation(Y/Ho=28.60±1.25).The Nandan Formation and Sidazhai Formation cherts were deposited in the open-ocean basin with moderately negative Ce anomalies(0.67±0.08,0.73±0.11,respectively) and high Y/Ho ratios(36.01±1.00,32.00±2.25,respectively).On the basis of our studies about cherts,we conclude that the Youjiang Basin originated as part of the Paleo-Tethys that controlled the depositional environments of cherts during late Paleozoic.The rift of the Youjiang Basin had occurred at least since the Early-Middle Devonian.The basin had a trend of evolving into an open-ocean basin during the Early-Middle Permian.HUANG Hu DU YuanSheng HUANG ZhiQiang YANG JiangHai HUANG HongWei XIE ChunXia HU LiSha 2013Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,3:20

8Effect of chronic corticosterone-induced depression on circadian rhythms and age-related phenotypes in mice显示文摘Disrupted circadian rhythms are a recognized effect of depression,and our previous article demonstrated an association between depression and premature aging,but the underlying mechanisms are not well understood.In the present study,we used a mouse model of chronic corticosterone (CORT)-treated depression to elucidate a mechanism by which depression may be associated with the circadian clock and mediate age-related phenotypes.Mice received a daily injection of 20 mg/kg CORT for 21 consecutive days,and the depression-like behaviors of mice were identified by the sucrose intake test,tail suspension test and open field test.Our findings indicated that CORT injection may be correlatedwith the circadian clock by impairing circadian rhythms or shifting the phase values of clock genes.We also showed that CORT-treated mice exhibited a significant gradual reduction in body weight gain with increased oxidative stress, including reduced activity of antioxidant-related enzymes,reduced glutathione:glutathione disulfide ratio and cytochrome (Cyt)-C level,and elevated reactive oxygen species content.Moreover, chronic CORT injection affected inflammatory responses,the production of mitochondrial ATP and telomere shortening,which may be associated with the Sirtuin 3 (SIRT3)signaling pathway. 9Spatiotemporal dynamics of the vegetation in Ningxia,China using MODIS imagery显示文摘The vegetation in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region(henceforth,Ningxia)of north-western China plays an important role in guarding regional ecological safety and sustainable development.However,it is unclear how climate affects vegetation growth in terms of seasonality and various vegetation types in Ningxia.Based on remote sensing vegetation index from 2001 to 2016,climatic parameters,and the Chinese vegetation type data,this article examines the spatiotemporal effects of climate parameters on vegetation.The relative importance to variability in the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)for different seasons and various vegetated types is also determined.The results demonstrate that the vegetation increased from 2001 to 2016 in Ningxia.The rate of NDVI increase was fastest in summer and slowest in spring.Areas with significant increases in vegetation occurred primarily in the southern mountain,Liupan Mountain,and central arid areas.Degraded vegetation occurred in the Yellow River irrigation area with intense human activity influence.The vegetation in most areas of Ningxia will continue to increase in the future.The sensitivity of vegetation to temperature,precipitation,sunshine duration,and wind velocity showed significantly seasonal variability.Sunshine duration and wind velocity were important climatic factors affecting vegetation growth in Ningxia.However,the impact of summer precipitation variation on summer NDVI(SMN)demonstrated a time lag effect.The impact of climate variation on vegetation was distinct among various vegetation types.Moreover,the spatial pattern of vegetation in Ningxia was also impacted by human activities.Yi HE Haowen YAN Lei MA Lifeng ZHANG Lisha QIU Shuwen YANG 2020Frontiers of Earth Science2020,14,1:3
10Overexpressing dominant-negative FGFR2-IIIb impedes lung branching morphogenesis in pigs显示文摘Genetic studies with mouse models have shown that fibroblast growth factor receptor 2-IIIb(FGFR2-IIIb)plays crucial roles in lung development and differentiation. To evaluate the effect of FGFR2-IIIb in pig lung development, we employed somatic cell nuclear transfer(SCNT) technology to generate transgenic pig fetuses overexpressing the transmembrane(dn FGFR2-IIIb-Tm) and soluble(dn FGFR2-IIIb-HFc) forms of the dominant-negative human FGFR2-IIIb driven by the human surfactant protein C(SP-C) promoter,which was specifically expressed in lung epithelia. Eight dn FGFR2-IIIb-Tm transgenic and twelve dn FGFR2-IIIb-HFc transgenic pig fetuses were collected from three and two recipient sows, respectively.Repression of FGFR2-IIIb in lung epithelia resulted in smaller lobes and retardation of alveolarization in both forms of dn FGFR2-IIIb transgenic fetuses. Moreover, the dn FGFR2-IIIb-HFc transgenic ones showed more deterioration in lung development. Our results demonstrate that disruption of FGFR2-IIIb signaling in the epithelium impedes normal branching and alveolarization in pig lungs, which is less severe than the results observed in transgenic mice. 11The dichotomous and incomplete adaptive immunity in COVID-19 patients with different disease severity显示文摘The adaptive immunity that protects patients from coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19),caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),is not well characterized.In particular,the asymptomatic patients have been found to induce weak and transient SARS-CoV-2 antibody responses,but the underlying mechanisms remain unknown;meanwhile,the protective immunity that guide the recovery of these asymptomatic patients is elusive.Here,we characterized SARS-CoV-2-specific B-cell and T-cell responses in 10 asymptomatic patients and 64 patients with other disease severity(mild,n=10,moderate,n=32,severe,n=12)and found that asymptomatic or mild symptomatic patients failed to mount virus-specific germinal center(GC)B cell responses that result in robust and prolonged humoral immunity,assessed by GC response indicators including follicular helper T(TFH)cell and memory B cell responses as well as serum CXCL13 levels.Alternatively,these patients mounted potent virus-specific TH1 and CD8+T cell responses.In sharp contrast,patients of moderate or severe disease induced vigorous virus-specific GC B cell responses and associated TFH responses;however,the virus-specific TH1 and CD8+T cells were minimally induced in these patients.These results,therefore,uncovered the protective immunity in asymptomatic patients and also revealed the strikingly dichotomous and incomplete humoral and cellular immune responses in COVID-19 patients with different disease severity,providing important insights into rational design of effective COVID-19 vaccines.Leiqiong Gao Jing Zhou Sen Yang Lisha Wang Xiangyu Chen Yang Yang Ren Li Zhiwei Pan Jing Zhao Zhirong Li Qizhao Huang Jianfang Tang Li Hu Pinghuang Liu Guozhong Zhang Yaokai Chen Lilin Ye 2021Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,4:2

15FSIP1 enhances the therapeutic sensitivity to CDK4/6 inhibitors in triple-negative breast cancer patients by activating the Nanog pathway显示文摘CDK4/6 inhibitors are routinely recommended agents for the treatment of advanced HR+HER2-breast cancer.However,their therapeutic effectiveness in triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)remains controversial.Here,we observed that the expression level of fibrous sheath interacting protein 1(FSIP1)could predict the treatment response of TNBC to CDK4/6 inhibitors.High FSIP1 expression level was related to a poor prognosis in TNBC,which was associated with the ability of FSIP1 to promote tumor cell proliferation.FSIP1 downregulation led to slowed tumor growth and reduced lung metastasis in TNBC.FSIP1knockout caused cell cycle arrest at the G0/G1 phase and reduced treatment sensitivity to CDK4/6 inhibitors by inactivating the Nanog/CCND1/CDK4/6 pathway.FSIP1 could form a complex with Nanog,protecting it from ubiquitination and degradation,which may facilitate the rapid cell cycle transition from G0/G1 to S phase and exhibit enhanced sensitivity to CDK4/6 inhibitors.Our findings suggest that TNBC patients with high FSIP1 expression levels may be suitable candidates for CDK4/6 inhibitor treatment.Guanglei Chen Lisha Sun Xi Gu Liping Ai Jie Yang Zhan Zhang Pengjie Hou Yining Wang Xunyan Ou Xiaofan Jiang Xinbo Qiao Qingtian Ma Nan Niu Jinqi Xue Hao Zhang Yongliang Yang Caigang Liu 2023Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,12:1
