1Boron neutron capture therapy for malignant melanoma: first clinical case report in China显示文摘A phase Ⅰ/Ⅱ clinical trial for treating malignant melanoma by boron neutron capture therapy(BNCT) was designed to evaluate whether the world's first in-hospital neutron irradiator(IHNI) was qualified for BNCT. In this clinical trial planning to enroll 30 patients, the first case was treated on August 19, 2014. We present the protocol of this clinical trial, the treating procedure, and the clinical outcome of this first case. Only grade 2 acute radiation injury was observed during the first four weeks after BNCT and the injury healed after treatment. No late radiation injury was found during the 24-month follow-up. 2Characterization and evaluation of rice blast resistance of Chinese indica hybrid rice parental lines显示文摘The development of resistant varieties and hybrid combinations has been the most effective and economical strategy to control blast disease caused by Magnaporthe oryzae.However, the distribution of major R genes and blast resistance characterization in hybrid rice parents has not been well investigated, resulting in their limited use in hybrid rice blast-resistance breeding. In the present study, 88 elite indica hybrid rice parental lines were evaluated with 30 isolates of M. oryzae collected from the main planting area of indica hybrid rice in China and were characterized for the presence of 11 major resistance genes using molecular markers. The pathogenicity assays showed that four types of hybrid rice parent line showed some resistance to M. oryzae. However, the proportions of highly resistant lines and the mean resistance frequency(RF) varied among the four types, with resistance in decreasing order shown by three-line restorer lines, three-line maintainer lines, two-line sterile lines, and two-line restorer lines. All 88 hybrid rice parental lines carried more than one R gene, but none carried the R genes Pi1 and Pi2. Although Pid3 and Pi9 were present only in three-line restorer lines and Pigm only in three-line maintainer lines, the remaining six R genes(Pib, Pid2, Pi5, Pia, Pi54, and Pita) were present in the four types of hybrid rice parent with significantly different distribution frequencies. The correlation between R genes and resistance reactions was investigated. 3Rescued virus from infectious cDNA clone of rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus is adapted to RK13 cells line显示文摘Based on the infectious full-length cDNA clone of rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV), the in vitro transcripts are introduced into RK13 cells. 12 h later, CPE could be observed clearly, and virual antigen could also be detected by IFA. The titre of the recovered virus is 104.6/mL. Immune electron micro-scopic observation of the virus particles revealed that the particles were rotund with a diameter of about 30 nm. Besides, virus titre quantification obtained by qRT-PCR showed a correlation between time from infection and virus titre. 5The effects of modulation period,modulation ratio,and deposition temperature on microstructure and mechanical properties of ZrB_2/W multilayers显示文摘Monolithic ZrB2,W coatings and ZrB2/W multilayers with different modulation periods and modulation ratios were synthesized by ion beam assisted deposition at room temperature and 400°C.X-ray diffraction (XRD),scanning electron microscopy (SEM),surface profiler,and nanoindention were employed to investigate the influences of the deposition temperature and the modulation period on the growth,textures,interface structure,and mechanical properties of the multilayers.The results indicated that the multilayer with modulation period of 13 nm synthesized at room temperature possessed a higher hardness of 23.8 GPa.Deposition temperature gave a significant contribution to mechanical property enhancement.The 400°C-deposition temperature led to a maximum hardness and elastic modulus value of 32.1 and 399.1 GPa for ZrB2/W multilayer with a modulation period of 6.7 nm.Its critical load increased to 42.8 mN and residual stress decreased to -0.7 GPa.A higher deposition temperature can cause an increase in interfacial atomic mixture and mobility of surface species,which induceds an increase in areal atomic density and dislocation pinning.These results as well as small nanoscale grain sizes should be related to hardness increase.LIU MengYin,TAN Ming,LIU GuangQing,WANG HaiYuan,XUE FengYing,DENG XiangYun & LI DeJun College of Physics and Electronic Information Science,Tianjin Normal University,Tianjin 300387,China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,9:4
6Air pollution and inhalation exposure to particulate matter of different sizes in rural households using improved stoves in central China显示文摘Household air pollution is considered to be among the top environmental risks in China.To examine the performance of improved stoves for reduction of indoor particulate matter(PM) emission and exposure in rural households, individual inhalation exposure to size-resolved PM was investigated using personal portable samplers carried by residents using wood gasifier stoves or improved coal stoves in a rural county in Central China.Concentrations of PM with different sizes in stationary indoor and outdoor air were also monitored at paired sites. The stationary concentrations of size-resolved PM in indoor air were greater than those in outdoor air, especially finer particles PM0.25. The daily averaged exposure concentrations of PM0.25, PM1.0, PM2.5 and total suspended particle for all the surveyed residents were 74.4 ± 41.1, 159.3 ± 74.3, 176.7 ± 78.1 and 217.9 ± 78.1 μg/m3,respectively. Even using the improved stoves, the individual exposure to indoor PM far exceeded the air quality guideline by WHO at 25 μg/m3. Submicron particles PM1.0 were the dominant PM fraction for personal exposure and indoor and outdoor air. Personal exposure exhibited a closer correlation with indoor PM concentrations than that for outdoor concentrations. Both inhalation exposure and indoor air PM concentrations in the rural households with gasifier firewood stoves were evidently lower than the reported results using traditional firewood stoves. 8N-methyl-2-pyrrolidonium-based Br?nsted-Lewis acidic ionic liquids as catalysts for the hydrolysis of cellulose显示文摘We experimentally studied the catalytic performances of a series of Br?nsted-Lewis acidic N-methyl-2-pyrrolidonium metal chlorides([Hnmp]Cl/MCl_x, where M=Fe, Zn, Al, or Cu) for the hydrolysis of microcrystalline cellulose(MCC) and cotton to produce reducing sugar. A variety of factors, such as temperature, time, ionic liquid(IL) species, IL dosage, and the concentration of the metal chloride were investigated. [Hnmp]Cl/FeCl_3 presented the best hydrolysis performance, affording a 98.8% yield of total reducing sugar from MCC(1 h, 100 °C, 0.1 g MCC, 0.2 g acidic IL, 2.0 g [Bmim]Cl as solvent), which is better than or comparable to results previously obtained with other –SO_3H functionalized acidic ILs. The hydrolysis performances of [Hnmp]Cl/MClx were rationalized using density functional theory calculations, which indicated that interactions between the metal chlorides and the cellulose, including charge-transfer interactions are important in the hydrolysis of cellulose and degradation of glucose. 10Densification and anticorrosion performances of vacuum evaporated aluminium coatings on NdFeB magnets显示文摘Al coated NdFeB magnets obtained by vacuum evaporation technique were densified by high energy ball milling method.The surface morphology,metal composition and micro structure of the coatings were characterized by scanning electron microscopy,X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,respectively.The anticorrosive properties were investigated by potentiodynamic polarization curves and neutral salt spray test.The pores in the Al coatings of columnar crystals(Al) induced by the evaporation technique,were apparently filled in the following ball milling process,leading to the densification of Al coatings and the evident improvement of the anticorrosive performances.When treated with ball milling for 30 min,the sample achieves the best anticorrosive performances with the self-corrosion potential of-0.87 V,self-corrosion current density of 1.65 μA/cm^(2) and the neutral salt spray(NSS) time of 144 h(red rust).The improvement of the anticorro sive performances of vacuum evaporated Al coating mainly lies in the densification effect of the coating,which depends on different loading conditions of ball milling process.Jun Huang Qing Liu Zhenyu Yang Guangqing Xu Pengjie Zhang Jun Lv Wei Sun Bingshan Li Dongmei Wang Yucheng Wu 2021Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,10:3
11A preliminary report on adjuvant analgesic efficacy of HANS in opioid tolerant patients with cancer pain显示文摘Objective: To observe the adjuvant analgesic efficacy of Han's Acupoint Nerve Stimulator(HANS) in opioid tolerant patients with cancer pain. Methods: A prospective non-controlled study was conducted. Opioid tolerant patients with cancer pain were enrolled and treated with both routinely analgesics and adjuvant HANS(2/100 Hz for 30 min/d, 5 d on and 2 d off for two weeks). Cancer pain, quality of life(QOL), anxiety and depression were assessed before enrollment and on d 8 and d 15 with the BPI-C, EORTC QLQ-C30, and self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)/self-rating depression scale(SDS), respectively; the therapeutic frequency of breakthrough pain(BP) and daily opioid dose were also recorded. Results: Totally 47 patients meeting the inclusion criteria participated in this study; 43 patients completed the two-week treatment and assessment. The mean scores of patient's 'worst' and 'least' pain intensity assessed with BPI-C decreased significantly on d 8 and d 15; the therapeutic frequency of BP also significantly decreased; but the average daily dose of opioids did not change significantly. For the nine symptoms in EORTC QLQ-C30 assessment, the mean scores of pain, fatigue, constipation and insomnia were significantly lower on d 8 and d 15 compared with baseline; the mean scores of the overall health status, nausea/vomiting and the incidence rates of both anxiety and depression also decreased significantly on d 15.Conclusions: To opioid tolerant patients with cancer pain, adjuvant treatment with HANS could improve pain release and patients' QOL by decreasing the severity of pain, fatigue, constipation, insomnia and other concomitant symptoms; it could also decrease the incidence rates of anxiety and depression.Xiaomei Li Jianhua Zhu Pingping Li Guangqing Zhu Xiaoming Wu Huoming Chen Huixia Zhao Wei Wang Ying Zhang Wenhua Xiao Duanqi Liu 2014Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2014,26,2:2
12An effective amperometric biosensor based on graphene modified gold nanowire arrays for glucose detection显示文摘A novel glucose biosensor based on graphene nanosheets(GNs)modified gold nanowire arrays(AuNWAs)electrode was constructed.Highly ordered gold nanowire arrays were prepared by direct electrodeposition in anodic aluminum oxide templates.GNs were synthesized through a public route involving graphite oxidation,exfoliation,and chemical reduction.Field emission scanning electron microscope and high-resolution transmission electron microscope were employed to characterize the asprepared AuNWAs and GNs.Glucose oxidase was immobilized on the surface of GNs-AuNWAs modified electrode via a cross-linking method.The cyclic voltammetry results showed that the GNs-AuNWAs-based glucose biosensors have high catalysis activity to hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)than those modified with GNs or AuNWAs only.Furthermore,amperometric response was employed to detect glucose concentration owing to its simplicity,high selectivity,and relative low cost.Glucose biosensors based on GNs-AuNWAs showed excellent performance with high sensitivity of 40.25 lA cm-2(mmol/L)-1,low detection limit of 0.02 mmol/L,and a linear range from 0.02 to 3 mmol/L.Jianing Hui Jiewu Cui Lingjuan Liu Guangqing Xu Yucheng Wu 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,17:2

16Single-cell transcriptome analysis reveals the regulatory effects of artesunate on splenic immune cells in polymicrobial sepsis显示文摘Sepsis is characterized by a severe and life-threatening host immune response to polymicrobial infection accompanied by organ dysfunction.Studies on the therapeutic effect and mechanism of immunomodulatory drugs on the sepsis-induced hyperinflammatory or immunosuppression states of various immune cells remain limited.This study aimed to investigate the protective effects and underlying mechanism of artesunate(ART)on the splenic microenvironment of cecal ligation and puncture-induced sepsis model mice using single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq)and experimental validations.The scRNA-seq analysis revealed that ART inhibited the activation of pro-inflammatory macrophages recruited during sepsis.ART could restore neutrophils’chemotaxis and immune function in the septic spleen.It inhibited the activation of T regulatory cells but promoted the cytotoxic function of natural killer cells during sepsis.ART also promoted the differentiation and activity of splenic B cells in mice with sepsis.These results indicated that ART could alleviate the inflammatory and/or immunosuppressive states of various immune cells involved in sepsis to balance the immune homeostasis within the host.Overall,this study provided a comprehensive investigation of the regulatory effect of ART on the splenic microenvironment in sepsis,thus contributing to the application of ART as adjunctive therapy for the clinical treatment of sepsis.Jiayun Chen Xueling He Yunmeng Bai Jing Liu Yin Kwan Wong Lulin Xie Qian Zhang Piao Luo Peng Gao Liwei Gu Qiuyan Guo Guangqing Cheng Chen Wang Jigang Wang 2023Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2023,13,7:1
