| 1 | Texture and tectonic attribute of Cenozoic basin basement in the northern South China Sea显示文摘Based on the drilling data,the geological characteristics of the coast in South China,and the interpretation of the long seismic profiles covering the Pearl River Mouth Basin and southeastern Hainan Basin,the basin basement in the northern South China Sea is divided into four structural layers,namely,Pre-Sinian crystalline basement,Sinian-lower Paleozoic,upper Paleozoic,and Mesozoic structural layers.This paper discusses the distribution range and law and reveals the tectonic attribute of each structural layer.The Pre-Sinian crystalline basement is distributed in the northern South China Sea,which is linked to the Pre-Sinian crystalline basement of the Cathaysian Block and together they constitute a larger-scale continental block—the Cathaysian-northern South China Sea continental block.The Sinian-lower Paleozoic structural layer is distributed in the northern South China Sea,which is the natural extension of the Caledonian fold belt in South China to the sea area.The sediments are derived from southern East China Sea-Taiwan,Zhongsha-Xisha islands and Yunkai ancient uplifts,and some small basement uplifts.The Caledonian fold belt in the northern South China Sea is linked with that in South China and they constitute the wider fold belt.The upper Paleozoic structural layer is unevenly distributed in the northern South China.In the basement of Beibu Gulf Basin and southwestern Taiwan Basin,the structural layer is composed of the stable epicontinental sea deposit.The distribution areas in the Pearl River Mouth Basin and the southeastern Hainan Basin belong to ancient uplifts in the late Paleozoic,lacking the upper Paleozoic structural layers.The stratigraphic distribution and sedimentary environment in Middle-Late Jurassic to Cretaceous are characteristic of differentiation in the east and the west.The marine,paralic deposit is well developed in the basin basement of southwestern Taiwan but the volcanic activity is not obvious.The marine and paralic facies deposit is distributed in the eastern Pearl River Mouth Basin basement and the volcanic activity is stronger.The continental facies volcano-sediment in the Early Cretaceous is distributed in the basement of the western Pearl River Mouth Basin and Southeastern Hainan Basin.The Upper Cretaceous red continental facies clastic rocks are distributed in the Beibu Gulf Basin and Yinggehai Basin.The NE direction granitic volcanic-intrusive complex,volcano-sedimentary basin,fold and fault in Mesozoic basement have the similar temporal and spatial distribution,geological feature,and tectonic attribute with the coastal land in South China,and they belong to the same magma-deposition-tectonic system,which demonstrates that the late Mesozoic structural layer was formed in the background of active continental margin.Based on the analysis of basement structure and the study on tectonic attribute,the paleogeographic map of the basin basement in different periods in the northern South China Sea is compiled. | SUN XiaoMeng ZHANG XuQing ZHANG GongCheng LU BaoLiang YUE JunPei ZHANG Bin | 2014 | Science China Earth Sciences2014,57,6: | 18 |

| 3 | Application of biochar-based materials in environmental remediation:from multi-level structures to specific devices显示文摘The development of biochar has triggered a hot-spot in various research fields including agriculture,energy,environment,and materials.Biochar-based materials provide a novel approach against environmental challenging issues.Considering the rapid development of biochar materials,this review serves as a valuable platform to summarize the recent progress on the theoretical investigation and engineering applications of biochar materials in environmental remediation.For a better understanding of the structure-application relationships,the structural properties of biochar from macroscopic and microscopic aspects are summarized.The multilevel structures including elements,phases,surface chemistry,and molecular are highlighted to elucidate the multi-functional properties of biochars.Sorption,catalysis,redox reaction,and biological activity of biochar are briefly illustrated,which influence the transport,transformation,and removal of organic and inorganic pollutants in the environments.According to the multi-level structures and structure-application relationships of biochar,specific biochar-based materials and devices have been designed for practical environmental application.The important progress on the functionalization and device of biochar-based materials,including magnetic biochars,2D and 3D biochar-based macrostructures,immobilized microorganism on biochar,and biochar-amended biofilters are highlighted.The environmental friendliness and sustainability of biochar-based materials,considering the whole cycle from synthesis to application,are evaluated. | Lun Lu Wentao Yu Yaofeng Wang Kun Zhang Xiaomin Zhu Yuecan Zhang Yajing Wu Habib Ullah Xin Xiao Baoliang Chen | 2020 | Biochar2020,2,1: | 11 |

| 5 | Reassessment of the Distribution of Mantle CO_(2) in the Bohai Sea,China:The Perspective from the Source and Pathway System显示文摘Research on the distribution of mantle CO_(2)should involve comprehensive analysis from CO_(2)source to accumulation.The crust-mantle pathway system is the key controlling factor of the distribution of mantle CO_(2),but has received little attention.The pathway system and controlling factors of CO_(2)distribution in the Bohai Sea are analyzed using data on fault styles and information on the mantle and lithosphere.The relation between volcanic rocks and the distribution of mantle CO_(2)is reassessed using age data for CO_(2)accumulations.The distribution of mantle CO_(2)is controlled by uplift of the asthenosphere and upper mantle,magma conduits in the mantle and fault systems in the crust.Uplifted regions of the asthenosphere are accumulation areas for CO_(2).The area with uplift of the Moho exhibits accumulation of mantle CO_(2)at depth.CO_(2)was mainly derived from vertical migration through the upper mantle and lower crust.The fault style in the upper crust controls the distance of horizontal migration and the locations of CO_(2)concentrations.The distribution of mantle CO_(2)and volcanic rocks are not the same,but both probably followed the same pathways sometimes.Mantle CO_(2)in the Bohai Sea is concentrated in the Bozhong sag and the surrounding area,particularly in a trap that formed before 5.1 Ma and is connected to crustal faults(the Bozhang faults)and lithospheric faults(the Tanlu faults). | TANG Huafeng GUO Tianchan WU Keqiang LIU Zilin XU Jianyong LU Baoliang WANG Pujun | 2022 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2022,96,1: | 2 |
| 6 | Luminescence Chronology and Radiocarbon Reservoir Age Determination of Lacustrine Sediments from the Heihai Lake,NE Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and Its Paleoclimate Implications显示文摘The accurately determining the lake ^(14)C reservoir age has a crucial significance for climatic reconstruction. In this study, the optically stimulated luminescence(OSL) dating method is employed to date samples from highstand lacustrine sediments, palaeoshoreline, fluvial terrace, and the alluvial fan of the Heihai Lake catchment. Accelerator mass spectrometry(AMS) ^(14)C dating was also used to date fossil plants from highstand lacustrine sediments. Based on the calculations of linear regression with OSL against radiocarbon ages for same layers of two sections, the quantitative ^(14)C reservoir ages were estimated to lie between 3 353 and 3 464 yr during the 1.8 to 2.4 ka, which showed temporal variation. The sources of old carbon are the dissolution of carbonate bedrocks distributed along the Kunlun Mountain. The OSL ages of the different members of the hydatogen sedimentary system at Heihai Lake catchment indicate that a stronger hydrologic condition occurred from 3.0±0.2 to 1.8±0.2 ka, with a maximum lake level of 9 m higher than present. This humid stage was widely recorded in different sediments on the QTP and Chinese Loess Plateau(CLP), indicating its broad synchronicity across the Asian Summer Monsoon region. | 12 | Effect of polyamide on selectivity of its supported Raney Ni catalyst显示文摘A newly-developed polyamide supported Raney Ni catalyst, which is suitable for use in fix-bed reactions with high selectivity, was studied in this paper. Selective hydrogenation of acetone to isopropanol was chosen as a probe reaction. It has been found that clean preparation of isopropanol could be achieved, that is to say, the two main byproducts(isopropyl ether and methyl-iso-butyl carbinol) could be eliminated with the newly-developed polyamide supported Raney Ni catalyst. The elimination of these side reactions was attributed to the adsorption effect of polyamide support and a model was proposed. The proposed model was further proved by hydroamination reaction of acetone. According to this model, catalyst support can play an important role in chemical reactions. Different products could be produced when different catalyst support is used, the main reaction and side reactions can even be reversed sometimes when the chemicals, active component of catalyst and reaction condition are the same. | 15 | Large size rare earth iron garnet single crystals grown by the flux-Bridgman method显示文摘Rare earth garnet(R_(3)Fe_(5)O_(12),RIG)single crystals are the most ideal magneto-optical medium for optical isolators for wavelength longer than 1.1μm,which has been commercially used in optical fiber communications.However,it is still a great challenge to grow large size RIG single crystals.In this work,highquality Y3 Fe5 O12(YIG)and Bi_(0.9)Tb_(2.1)Fe_(5)O_(12)(Bi:TIG)single crystals were successfully grown by the flux-Bridgman method for the first time.The as-grown crystals up to 20 mm in diameter was obtained using the PbO-B_(2)O_(3)flux.The transmittance of YIG crystals is over 75%in the region of 1100-2500 nm.TIG crystals also have good transmittance in the range of 1100-1700 nm,and show typical Tb absorption from 1700 to 2500 nm.The specific Faraday rotations of YIG and Bi_(0.9)Tb_(2.1)Fe_(5)O_(12) crystals are 185(°)/cm and-1250(°)/cm at 1550 nm,which are comparable to the commercial RIG crystals grown by LPE method.The present results indicate that flux-Bridgman method shows great potential to grow large size and high-quality RIG magneto-optical crystals. | Yingsui Jiang Hui Shen Jiayue Xu Jian Ma Haoyu Wang Baoliang Lu | 2021 | Journal of Rare Earths2021,39,12: | 1 |

| 17 | Characteristics of the Density and Magnetic Susceptibility of Rocks in Northern Borneo and their Constraints on the Lithologic Identification of the Mesozoic Rocks in the Southern South China Sea显示文摘Based on the volume magnetic susceptibility and specific gravity measurements and mineral and lithologic identification results for 540 samples,the rock type,density,and magnetic susceptibility of rocks from northern Borneo were analyzed,and the applicability of gravity and magnetic data to the lithologic identification of the Mesozoic strata in the southern South China Sea was assessed accordingly.The results show that there are 3 types and 25 subtypes of rocks in northern Borneo,mainly intermediate-mafic igneous rocks and exogenous clastic sedimentary rocks,with small amounts of endogenous sedimentary rocks,felsic igneous rocks,and metamorphic rocks.The rocks that are very strongly-strongly magnetic and have high-medium densities are mostly igneous rocks,tuffaceous sandstones,and their metamorphic equivalents.The rocks that are weakly magnetic-non-magnetic and have medium-very low densities are mostly conglomerates,sandstones,siltstones,mudstones,and coal.The rocks that are weakly magnetic-diamagnetic and have highmedium densities are mostly limestones and siliceous rocks.The Cenozoic rocks are characterized by low densities and medium susceptibilities;the Mesozoic rocks are characterized by medium densities and medium-high susceptibilities;and the pre-Mesozoic rocks are characterized by high densities and low magnetism.Based on these results and the distribution characteristics of the various rock types,it was found that the pre-Mesozoic rocks produce weak regional gravity anomalies;the Mesozoic sedimentary rocks produce negative regional gravity anomalies;whereas the Mesozoic igneous rocks produce positive regional gravity anomalies;and the Cenozoic igneous rocks produce positive regional gravity anomalies.The regional high magnetic anomalies in the southern part of the South China Sea originate from the Mesozoic mafic igneous rocks and their metamorphic equivalents;and the regional medium magnetic anomalies may be produced by the felsic igneous rocks and their metamorphic equivalents.Accordingly,the identification of the Mesozoic lithology in the southern South China Sea shows that the Mesozoic sedimentary rocks are distributed over a large area of the southern South China Sea.Thus,it is concluded that the Mesozoic strata in this area have the potential for oil and gas exploration. | TANG Huafeng ZHAO Zhigang TIAN Zhiwen LU Baoliang TANG Wu HE Kailun ZHU Chenxi WANG Pujun | 2021 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2021,95,1: | 1 |

| 20 | Divergent allocations of nonstructural carbohydrates shape growth response to rainfall reduction in two subtropical plantations显示文摘Nonstructural carbohydrates(NSC)are indicators of tree carbon balance and play an important role in regulating plant growth and survival.However,our understanding of the mechanism underlying drought-induced response of NSC reserves remains limited.Here,we conducted a long-term throughfall exclusion(TFE)experiment to investigate the seasonal responses of NSC reserves to manipulative drought in two contrasting tree species(a broadleaved tree Castanopsis hystrix Miq.and a coniferous tree Pinus massoniana Lamb.)of the subtropical China.We found that in the dry season,the two tree species differed in their responses of NSC reserves to TFE at either the whole-tree level or by organs,with significantly depleted total NSC reserves in roots in both species.Under the TFE treatment,there were significant increases in the NSC pools of leaves and branches in C.hystrix,which were accompanied by significant decreases in fine root biomass and radial growth without significant changes in canopy photosynthesis;while P.massoniana exhibited significant increase in fine root biomass without significant changes in radial growth.Our results suggested that under prolonged water limitation,NSC usage for growth in C.hystrix is somewhat impaired,such that the TFE treatment resulted in NSC accumulation in aboveground organs(leaf and branch);whereas P.massoniana is capable of efficiently utilizing NSC reserves to maintain its growth under drought conditions.Our findings revealed divergent NSC allocations under experimental drought between the two contrasting tree species,which are important for better understanding the differential impacts of climate change on varying forest trees and plantation types in subtropical China. | Xinwei Guo Shirong Liu Hui Wang Zhicheng Chen Jinglei Zhang Lin Chen Xiuqing Nie Lu Zheng Daoxiong Cai Hongyan Jia Baoliang Niu | 2022 | Forest Ecosystems2022,9,2: | 0 |
