| 1 | Internet of Things to network smart devices for ecosystem monitoring显示文摘Smart, real-time, low-cost, and distributed ecosystem monitoring is essential for understanding and managing rapidly changing ecosystems. However, new techniques in the big data era have rarely been introduced into operational ecosystem monitoring, particularly for fragile ecosystems in remote areas.We introduce the Internet of Things(IoT) techniques to establish a prototype ecosystem monitoring system by developing innovative smart devices and using IoT technologies for ecosystem monitoring in isolated environments. The developed smart devices include four categories: large-scale and nonintrusive instruments to measure evapotranspiration and soil moisture, in situ observing systems for CO2 and d13 C associated with soil respiration, portable and distributed devices for monitoring vegetation variables, and Bi-CMOS cameras and pressure trigger sensors for terrestrial vertebrate monitoring. These new devices outperform conventional devices and are connected to each other via wireless communication networks. The breakthroughs in the ecosystem monitoring IoT include new data loggers and longdistance wireless sensor network technology that supports the rapid transmission of data from devices to wireless networks. The applicability of this ecosystem monitoring IoT is verified in three fragile ecosystems, including a karst rocky desertification area, the National Park for Amur Tigers, and the oasis-desert ecotone in China. By integrating these devices and technologies with an ecosystem monitoring information system, a seamless data acquisition, transmission, processing, and application IoT is created. | 2 | MiR156 regulates anthocyanin biosynthesis through SPL targets and other microRNAs in poplar显示文摘Anthocyanins biosynthesized from the flavonoid pathway are types of pigments that are involved in the protection of poplar from biotic and abiotic stresses.Previous researchers studying anthocyanin-related transcription factors and structural genes in poplar have made significant discoveries.However,little is known about the regulatory role of microRNAs in anthocyanin biosynthesis in poplar.Here,we overexpressed miR156 in poplar to study the comprehensive effects of the miR156-SPL module on the biosynthesis of anthocyanins.Small RNA sequencing analysis revealed 228 microRNAs differentially expressed in transgenic poplar plants with dramatically increased miR156 levels.Furthermore,integrated microRNAomic and transcriptomic analysis suggested that two microRNAs,miR160h,and miR858,have the potential to affect anthocyanin accumulation in poplar by regulating auxin response factors and MYB transcription factors,respectively.Additionally,the accumulation of miR160h and miR858 displayed a positive correlation with miR156 levels,suggesting a possible interaction between the miR156-SPL module and these microRNAs in poplar.Last,metabolomics analysis revealed that the levels of anthocyanins,flavones,and flavonols were substantially elevated in transgenic poplar plants overexpressing miR156 compared with the wild type,whereas the total lignin content was reduced in the transgenic plants.Taken together,our results indicate that miR156 can fine tune the anthocyanin biosynthetic pathway via multiple factors,including microRNAs,transcription factors,and the levels of structural genes,in poplar.This provides additional clues for understanding the complex regulatory network of anthocyanin biosynthesis in woody plants. | Yamei Wang Wenwen Liu Xinwei Wang Ruijuan Yang Zhenying Wu HanWang LeiWang Zhubing Hu Siyi Guo Hailing Zhang Jinxing Lin Chunxiang Fu | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 9 |

| 5 | Effectiveness of flesh-moistening paste in psoriasis vulgaris patients with symptom pattern of blood stasis:a randomized and parallel-controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of flesh-moistening paste for treating psoriasis vulgaris in patients with blood stasis pattern in terms of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM).METHODS:Eudipleural rashes on both the left and right side of the same patients with psoriasis vulgaris,diagnosed via TCM as blood stasis pattern,were selected as the targeted skin lesions.A randomized,double-blind,parallel-controlled,multicenter controlled trial was conducted.The targeted skin lesions were categorized into either the treatment or control group.The treatment group used the flesh-moistening paste;the control group used a placebo.Both the paste and the placebo were topically applied twice daily for eight weeks.The patients were examined biweekly to evaluate the effects.The two groups were compared in terms of the psoriasis area and severity index(PASI)of the targeted skin lesions,which is scored according to erythema,desquamation,infiltration,area,pruritus,and improvement of skin barrier function.Adverse events were recorded during the study period.SPSS 21.0 was used to analyze the data.RESULTS:Fifty-six patients were enrolled between February 2016 and October 2017.Two were complicated by cardio-cerebrovascular disease and were excluded;thus,54 outpatients were finally enrolled in the study.Four dropped out during the study period:three failed to complete their follow-up visits for unknown reasons,and one exited due to an adverse event.The final trial comprised 50 of the 56 originally selected patients,with a 92.6%completion rate.After 8 weeks of treatment,the targeted skin lesion scores differed significantly(P<0.05).The PASI scores of the targeted skin lesions differed significantly beginning at week 6(P<0.05).The treatment group presented better results than those of the control group.Only one patient had an adverse reaction associated with the treatment.Improvements in skin barrier function differed significantly(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:The flesh-moistening paste demonstrated a reliable curative effect and safety for treating psoriasis vulgaris in patients with blood stasis patterns.The topical paste improved the barrier function of the skin lesions. | Guo Xinwei Lang Na Li Guanru Li Ping Qu Jianhua Zhou Dongmei Wang Ping Cang Zhang Deng BingXu Lou Weihai Xu Jingna Lan Haibing Liu Yumin Zhang Weishu Sun Liyun | 2020 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2020,40,6: | 4 |
| 6 | Very Short-term Spatial and Temporal Wind Power Forecasting: A Deep Learning Approach显示文摘In power systems that experience high penetration of wind power generation,very short-term wind power forecast is an important prerequisite for look-ahead power dispatch.Conventional univariate wind power forecasting methods at presentonly utilize individual wind farm historical data.However,studies have shown that forecasting accuracy canbe improved by exploring both spatial and temporal correlations among adjacent wind farms.Current research on spatial-temporal wind power forecasting is based on relatively shallow time series models that,to date,have demonstrated unsatisfactory performance.In this paper,a convolution operation is used to capture the spatial and temporal correlations among multiple wind farms.A novel convolution-based spatial-temporal wind power predictor(CSTWPP)is developed.Due to CSTWPP’s high nonlinearity and deep architecture,wind power variation features and regularities included in the historical data can be more effectively extracted.Furthermore,the online training of CSTWPP enables incremental learning,which makes CSTWPP non-stationary and in conformity with real scenarios.Graphics processing units(GPU)is used to speed up the training process,validating the developed CSTWPP for real-time application.Case studies on 28 adjacent wind farms are conducted to show that the proposed model can achieve superior performance on 5-30 minutes ahead wind power forecasts. | Tianyu Hu Wenchuan Wu Qinglai Guo Hongbin Sun Libao Shi Xinwei Shen | 2020 | CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2020,6,2: | 3 |

| 9 | Al2O3 supported hybrid Pd-CeO2 colloidal spheres and its enhanced catalytic performances for methane combustion显示文摘Fabrication of novel nano-catalyst with improved activity and stability has been a hot topic in heterogeneous catalysis. Herein a novel approach was designed to synthesize Pd-CeO2 colloidal assembled spheres(CASs) in one-pot fashion. The Pd clusters were encompassed by the CeO2 nanocrystals with a high dispersity. Based on this hybrid structure, the Pd/ceria interface area can be greatly improved. After Pd-CeO2 CASs was supported on γ-Al2O3, its catalytic activity for CH4 combustion was evaluated. The result shows that Al2O3 supported Pd-CeO2 CASs exhibits an improved catalytic activity and stability,compared to the Pd/CeO2 catalyst prepared by impregnation method. | 13 | Spectroscopic investigation of defects mediated oxidization of single-layer MoS_(2)显示文摘Due to the extremely large surface to bulk ratio,the properties of single layer(SL)MoS_(2)are largely determined by its interaction with environment.One critical interaction process that has been intensively investigated is the oxidation process of MoS_(2).Despite numerous previous explorations,the detailed mechanism regarding how MoS_(2)reacts with oxygen is still not well understood.In this work,we systematically investigate the impact of intrinsic and pre-created defects on the oxidation process of SL MoS_(2).For pristine SL MoS_(2),the oxidation is found to initiate near point defects and grain boundaries,leading to the formation of triangle pits in the basal plane and cracks near the grain boundaries.The pre-created defects introduced by ion irradiation are found to serve as the oxidation center,resulting in a more uniform oxidation process.The oxidation is found to introduce p-type doping in the SL MoS_(2),leading to the blue shift of Raman and photoluminescence(PL)spectra.The shift is found to be more for the region near the grain boundary and for the samples with more pre-created defects.Our results suggest that the presence of defects can strongly promote the oxidation reaction of SL MoS_(2)in ambient condition,which significantly affects the stability and functionality of materials. | HE ZuYun GUO Zheng ZHONG Xiao CHEN XiaoFei XUE JianMing WANG XinWei CHEN Yan | 2021 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2021,64,3: | 1 |

| 18 | All-fiber-transmission photometry for simultaneous optogenetic stimulation and multi-color neuronal activity recording显示文摘Manipulating and real-time monitoring of neuronal activities with cell-type specificity and precise spatiotemporal resolution during animal behavior are fundamental technologies for exploring the functional connectivity, information transmission, and physiological functions of neural circuits in vivo. However, current techniques for optogenetic stimulation and neuronal activity recording mostly operate independently. Here, we report an all-fiber-transmission photometry system for simultaneous optogenetic manipulation and multi-color recording of neuronal activities and the neurotransmitter release in a freely moving animal. We have designed and manufactured a wavelength-independent multi-branch fiber bundle to enable simultaneous optogenetic manipulation and multi-color recording at different wavelengths. Further, we combine a laser of narrow linewidth with the lock-in amplification method to suppress the optogenetic stimulation-induced artifacts and channel crosstalk. We show that the collection efficiency of our system outperforms a traditional epi-fluorescence system. Further, we demonstrate successful recording of dynamic dopamine(DA) responses to unexpected rewards in the nucleus accumbens(NAc) in a freely moving mouse. We also show simultaneous dual-color recording of neuronal Ca2+ signals and DA dynamics in the NAc upon delivering an unexpected reward and the simultaneous optogenetic activating at dopaminergic terminals in the same location. | 20 | Enzymatic synthesis of indigo derivatives by tuning P450 BM3 peroxygenases显示文摘Indigoids,a class of bis-indoles,have long been applied in dyeing,food,and pharmaceutical industries.Recently,interest in these‘old’molecules has been renewed in the field of organic semiconductors as functional building blocks for organic electronics due to their excellent chemical and physical properties.However,these indigo derivatives are difficult to access through chemical synthesis.In this study,we engineer cytochrome P450 BM3 from an NADPH-dependent monooxygenase to peroxygenases through directed evolution.A select number of P450 BM3 variants are used for the selective oxidation of indole derivatives to form different indigoid pigments with a spectrum of colors.Among the prepared indigoid organic photocatalysts,a majority of indigoids demonstrate a reduced band gap than indigo due to the increased light capture and improved charge separation,making them promising candidates for the development of new organic electronic devices.Thus,we present a useful enzymatic approach with broad substrate scope and cost-effectiveness by using low-cost H2O2 as a cofactor for the preparation of diversified indigoids,offering versatility in designing and manufacturing new dyestuff and electronic/sensor components. | Li Ma Tianjian Sun Yunjie Liu Yue Zhao Xiaohui Liu Yuxuan Li Xinwei Chen Lin Cao Qianqian Kang Jiawei Guo Lei Du Wei Wang Shengying Li | 2023 | Synthetic and Systems Biotechnology2023,8,3: | 0 |
