1Roux-en-Y choledochojejunostomy using novel magnetic compressive anastomats in canine model of obstructive jaundice显示文摘BACKGROUND:The traditional hand-sewn Roux-en-Y choledochojejunostomy is technically complicated,and the incidence of postoperative complications has remained high.A set of novel magnetic compressive anastomats was introduced to facilitate choledochojejunostomy and improve the prognosis of patients.METHODS:After ligating the common bile duct for 7 days,16 dogs were randomly divided into two groups (n=8 per group).Anastomats were used in the study group,and the traditional hand-sewn method was used in the control group for standard Roux-en-Y choledochojejunostomy.We compared the operation time,incidence of complications,gross appearance,and pathological disparity in stoma between the two groups in 1-month and 3-month follow-up examinations.RESULTS:The time spent on constructing the anastomosis for the study group was significantly shortened.Although no anastomotic stenosis occurred in the two groups,the narrowing rate of biliary-enteric anastomosis was much higher in the control group.There was one case of bile leakage in the control group,whereas no bile leakage occurred in the study group.A smoother surface,an improved layer apposition,and a lower local inflammatory response were identified in the anastomosis of the study group.CONCLUSION:The structures of the novel magnetic compressive anastomats are simple,and they are time-saving,safe and efficient for performing Roux-en-Y choledocho- jejunostomy procedures in a canine model of obstructive jaundice.Chao Fan,Xiao-Peng Yan,Shi-Qi Liu,Chun-Bao Wang,Jian-Hui Li,Liang Yu,Zheng Wu and Yi Lv Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery and Department of Pathology,First Affiliated Hospital,School of Medicine,Xi’an Jiaotong University,Xi’an 710061,China Department of Surgical Oncology,Third Affiliated Hospital,School of Medicine,Xi’an Jiaotong University,Xi’an 710068,China 2012Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2012,11,1:49
2Evaluation of the 7^(th) edition of the TNM classification in patients with resected esophageal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the prognostic factors and tumor stages of the 7th edition TNM classification for esophageal cancer.METHODS:In total,1033 patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)who underwent surgical resection with or without(neo)adjuvant therapy between January 2003 and June 2012 at the Thoracic Surgery DepartmentⅡof the Beijing Cancer Hospital,Beijing,China were included in this study.The following eligibility criteria were applied:(1)squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus or gastroesophageal junction identified by histopathological examination;(2)treatment with esophagectomy plus lymphadenectomy with curative intent;and(3)complete pathologic reports and follow-up data.Patients who underwent non-curative(R1)resection and patients who died in hospital were excluded.Patients who received(neo)adjuvant therapy were also included in thisanalysis.All patients were restaged using the 7th edition of the Union for International Cancer Control and the American Joint Committee on Cancer TNM staging systems.Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to identify the prognostic factors for survival.Survival curves were plotted using the Kaplan-Meier method,and the log-rank test was used to evaluate differences between the subgroups.RESULTS:Of the 1033 patients,273 patients received(neo)adjuvant therapy,and 760 patients were treated with surgery alone.The median follow-up time was 51.6mo(range:5-112 mo)and the overall 5-year survival rate was 36.4%.Gender,'p T'and'p N'descriptors,(neo)adjuvant therapy,and the 7th edition TNM stage grouping were independent prognostic factors in the univariate and multivariate analyses.However,neither histologic grade nor cancer location were independent prognostic factors in the univariate and multivariate analyses.The 5-year stage-based survival rates were as follows:ⅠA,84.9%;ⅠB,70.9%;ⅡA,56.2%;ⅡB,43.3%;ⅢA,37.9%;ⅢB,23.3%;ⅢC,12.9%andⅣ,3.4%.There were significant differences between each adjacent staging classification.Moreover,there were significant differences between each adjacent p N and p M subgroup.According to the p T descriptor,there were significant differences between each adjacent subgroup except between p T3 and p T4(P=0.405).However,there was no significant difference between each adjacent histologic grade subgroup and between each adjacent cancer location subgroup.CONCLUSION:The 7th edition is considered to be valid for patients with resected ESCC.However,the histologic grade and cancer location were not prognostic factors for ESCC.Jia Wang Nan Wu Qing-Feng Zheng Shi Yan Chao Lv Shao-Lei Li Yue Yang 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,48:23
3Sutureless Intestinal Anastomosis with a Novel Device of Magnetic Compression Anastomosis显示文摘Objective To explore the feasibility and efficiency of a novel magnetic compression anastomats(MCAs) in intestinal anastomosis.Methods A total of 36 male mongrel canines underwent intestinal anastomosis using traditional hand-sewn(n=18) or a novel MCAs(n=18).We compared the anastomosis time,postoperative complications,bursting strength of anastomoses,gross appearance,and pathology between two groups at each time-point of follow-up.Results The mean anastomosis time with MCAs was significantly less than that with hand-sewn(8.50±1.95 vs.31.1±4.32 minutes,P<0.001).The blood stools and intussusceptions occurred in both groups during follow-up period.Only 1 mongrel canine receiving intestinal anastomosis by MCAs experienced anastomotic leakage.The average bursting pressure of anastomoses obtained from mongrel canines undergoing intestinal anastomosis by MCAs was significantly higher than that by traditional hand-sewn at 1 week's follow-up time(P<0.05).Gross appearance of the anastomoses constructed by MCAs was relatively smoother and flatter.Pathological evalution of anastomoses revealed that general inflammation was greater in hand-sewn anastomoses than magnetic anastomosis.Conclusion The magnetic compression anastomat is a safe and effective device of sutureless intestinal anastomosis in canine models.Chao Fan Jia Ma Hong-ke Zhang Rui Gao Jian-hui Li Liang Yu Zheng Wu Yi Lv 2011Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2011,26,3:20
4Histological Subtypes of Lung Cancer in Chinese Males from 2000 to 2012显示文摘Objective To characterize the histological and epidemiological features of male lung cancer patients in China. Methods The demographic and histological information about male lung cancer patients identified from 2000-01-01 to 2012-12-31,was collected from the Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Relative frequencies(RF) were estimated for major histological subtypes and compared according to the years of diagnosis and birth. Results The RF of adenocarcinoma(ADC) increased from 21.96% to 43.36% and the RF of squamous cell carcinoma(SCC) decreased from 39.11% to 32.23% from 2000 to 2012 in the 15 427 male lung cancer patients included in this study(Z=17.909,P<0.0001; Z=-6.117,P<0.0001). The RF of ADC increased from 28.72% in 2000-2004,36.88% in 2005-2008 to 48.61% in 2009-2012 in patients born after 1960. The age-adjusted RF of ADC in 2007-2012 increased consistently in all the investigated areas. Conclusion The increased RF of ADC in male lung cancer patients highlights the need for further investigation of the etiologic factors of these tumors. 5Infection with novel coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2)causes pneumonia in Rhesus macaques显示文摘The 2019 novel coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2)outbreak is a major challenge for public health.SARS-CoV-2 infection in human has a broad clinical spectrum ranging from mild to severe cases,with a mortality rate of^6.4%worldwide(based on World Health Organization daily situation report).However,the dynamics of viral infection,replication and shedding are poorly understood.Here,we show that Rhesus macaques are susceptible to the infection by SARS-CoV-2.After intratracheal inoculation,the first peak of viral RNA was observed in oropharyngeal swabs one day post infection(1 d.p.i.),mainly from the input of the inoculation,while the second peak occurred at 5 d.p.i.,which reflected on-site replication in the respiratory tract.Histopathological observation shows that SARS-CoV-2 infection can cause interstitial pneumonia in animals,characterized by hyperemia and edema,and infiltration of monocytes and lymphocytes in alveoli.We also identified SARS-CoV-2 RNA in respiratory tract tissues,including trachea,bronchus and lung;and viruses were also re-isolated from oropharyngeal swabs,bronchus and lung,respectively.Furthermore,we demonstrated that neutralizing antibodies generated from the primary infection could protect the Rhesus macaques from a second-round challenge by SARS-CoV-2.The non-human primate model that we established here provides a valuable platform to study SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis and to evaluate candidate vaccines and therapeutics.Chao Shan Yan-Feng Yao Xing-Lou Yang Yi-Wu Zhou Ge Gao Yun Peng Lian Yang Xue Hu Jin Xiong Ren-Di Jiang Hua-Jun Zhang Xiao-Xiao Gao Cheng Peng Juan Min Ying Chen Hao-Rui Si Jia Wu Peng Zhou Yan-Yi Wang Hong-Ping Wei Wei Pang Zheng-Fei Hu Long-Bao Lv Yong-Tang Zheng Zheng-Li Shi Zhi-Ming Yuan 2020Cell Research2020,30,8:19

7A novel approach of testability modeling and analysis for PHM systems based on failure evolution mechanism显示文摘Prognostics and health management (PHM) significantly improves system availability and reliability, and reduces the cost of system operations. Design for testability (DFT) developed concurrently with system design is an important way to improve PHM capability. Testability modeling and analysis are the foundation of DFT. This paper proposes a novel approach of testability modeling and analysis based on failure evolution mechanisms. At the component level, the fault progression-related information of each unit under test (UUT) in a system is obtained by means of failure modes, evolution mechanisms, effects and criticality analysis (FMEMECA), and then the failure-symptom dependency can be generated. At the system level, the dynamic attributes of UUTs are assigned by using the bond graph methodology, and then the symptom-test dependency can be obtained by means of the functional flow method. Based on the failure-symptom and symptom-test dependencies, testability analysis for PHM systems can be realized. A shunt motor is used to verify the application of the approach proposed in this paper. 8A novel colloidal gold immunochromatography assay strip for the diagnosis of schistosomiasis japonica in domestic animals显示文摘Background:Schistosomiasis remains a major public health concern in China and an epidemiological survey has revealed that schistosome-infected bovines and goats are the main transmission sources for the disease.Therefore,development of a sensitive technique for the diagnosis of schistosomiasis in domestic animals is necessary.Method:A novel colloidal gold immunochromatography assay(GICA)strip was developed for detecting Schistosoma japonicum in domestic animals.The colloidal gold was conjugated with recombinant streptococcal protein G(rSPG).As the test and control lines,the schistosome soluble egg antigen and rSPG,respectively,were blotted on nitrocellulose membrane.Results:The lowest detectable serum dilution was 1∶640 for schistosome-infected buffaloes.The cross-reaction rate of GICA was 14.29%with Paramphistomum sp.in buffaloes,16.67%with Haemonchus sp.in goats,and 33.33%with Orientobilharzia sp.in goats.These results were slightly lower and similar to those obtained through ELISA.Moreover,the strips for detecting S.japonicum in mice,rabbits,buffaloes,and goats showed high sensitivity(100.00%,100.00%,100.00%,and 100.00%,respectively)and specificity(100.00%,100.00%,94.23%,and 88.64%,respectively).And the sensitivity or specificity of the GICA strips did not present any significant differences after storage for 12 months at room temperature.When compared with ELISA,the GICA strips exhibited similar sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of schistosomiasis in mice,rabbits,buffaloes,and goats.Besides,only 5μl of serum are required for the test and the detection can be completed within 5 min.Conclusion:This study is the first to develop a GICA strip using gold-rSPG conjugate for the diagnosing of schistosomiasis in domestic animals,and preliminary results showed that the developed strip may be suitable for large-scale screening of schistosomiasis in endemic areas.Rui Xu Jintao Feng Yang Hong Chao Lv Dengyun Zhao Jiaojiao Lin Ke Lu Hao Li Jinming Liu Xiaodan Cao Tao Wang Jinli Zai Zhaozhe Wang Bingguang Jia Qian Han Chuangang Zhu 2017Infectious Diseases of Poverty2017,6,1:12
9The Coix Genome Provides Insights into Panicoideae Evolution and Papery Hull Domestication显示文摘Coix is a grass crop domesticated as early as the Neolithic era.It is still widely cultivated for both highly nutritional food and medicinal use.However,the genetic study and breeding of this crop are hindered by the lack of a sequenced genome.Here,we report de novo sequencing and assembly of the 1619-Mb genome of Coix,and annotation of 75.39%repeats and 39629 protein-coding genes.Comparative genomics analysis showed that Coix is more closely related to sorghum than maize,but intriguingly only Coix and maize had a recent genome duplication event,which was not detected in sorghum.We further constructed a genetic map and mapped several important traits,especially the strength of hull.Selection of papery hull(thin:easy dehulling)from the stony hull(thick:difficult dehulling)in wild progenitors was a key step in Coix domestication.The papery hull makes seed easier to process and germinate.Anatomic and global transcriptome analysis revealed that the papery hull is a result of inhibition of cell division and wall biogenesis.We also successfully demonstrated that seed hull pressure resistance is controlled by two major quantitative trait loci(QTLs),which are associated with hull thickness and color,respectively.The two QTLs were further fine mapped within intervals of 250 kb and 146 kb,respectively.These resources provide a platform for evolutionary studies and will facilitate molecular breeding of this important crop.Chao Guo Yanan Wang Aiguo Yang Jun He Chaowen Xiao Shanhua Lv Fengming Han Yibing Yuan Yuan Yuan Xiaolong Dong Juan Guo YawenYang-Hailan Liu Ningzhi Zuo Yaxi Hu Kangxu Zhao Zhengbo Jiang Xing Wang Tingting Jiang Yaou Sherf Moju Cao Yuan Wang Zhaobo Long Tingzhao Rong Luqi Huang Shufeng Zhou 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,2:11

11Instability mechanism and control technology of soft rock roadway affected by mining and high confined water显示文摘Based on deformation and failure characteristics of the second belt conveyor roadway at level II of Zhuxianzhuang coal mine, laboratory experiments, numerical calculation and field test were adopted to analyze the composition and microstructure of mudstone, the law of mudstone hydration and its strength weakening induced by water, the characteristics of surrounding rock deformation and failure under the action of confined water. Results showed that montmorillonite clay minerals accounted for as much as 76% of mudstone, with a large number of pores existing in the microstructure. Besides, as the molecular structure of montmorillonite changed, mudstone microstructure damage occurred with the macroscopic manifestation of its rheological instability. Weakening degree of confined water on residual strength of mudstone was almost 50%. The instability mechanism of soft rock roadway caused by high confined water is that surrounding rock circulates the process of ‘‘fracture-seepage-mud ding-closed'' twice, which weakens its strength and leads to roadway instability. A combined support technology, namely the, ‘‘high-toughness sealing layer + hollow grouting cables + full-length anchoring bolts with deep borehole'' was proposed. 13“Three Methods and Three Points” regulates p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord in a rat model of sciatic nerve injury显示文摘Tuina is a traditional Chinese treatment for sensory disturbances caused by peripheral nerve injury and related diseases. Our previous studies showed that tuina regulates relevant regions and indices of the spinal dorsal horn using the Dian, Bo, and Rou method in Yinmen(BL37), Yanglingquan(GB34), and Weizhong(BL40). Treatment prevents muscle atrophy, protects spinal cord neurons, and promotes sciatic nerve repair. The mechanisms of action of tuina for treating peripheral nerve injury remain poorly understood. This study established rat models of sciatic nerve injury using the crushing method. Rats received Chinese tuina in accordance with the principle of 'Three Methods and Three Points,' once daily for 20 days. Tuina intervention reduced paw withdrawal latency and improved wet weight of the gastrocnemius muscle, as well as promoting morphological recovery of sciatic nerve fibers, Schwann cells, and axons. The protein expression levels of phospho-p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase, tumor necrosis factor-α, and interleukin-1β also decreased. 14Cloning and Bioinformatic Analysis of HMGS and HMGR Genes from Panax notoginseng显示文摘Objective To clone and analyze 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme-A synthase(HMGS) and 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme-A reductase(HMGR) genes from Panax notoginseng of four-year old during the flowering period, the key genes involved in the mevalonic acid pathway for saponin biosynthesis. Methods The cDNA sequences of PnHMGS1 and PnHMGR2 were obtained by reverse transcription PCR(RT-PCR) and rapid amplification of cDNA ends(RACE) methods and were analyzed in their secondary structures, subcellular localizations, domains, and the three-dimensional structures of putative proteins by the bioinformatics tools. Fusion genes were constructed by the prokaryotic expression system. Results The two genes were cloned, named as PnHMGS1 and PnHMGR2, respectively, and were both predicted to be located in the chloroplast. PnHMGS1(1410 bp) encoded a predictive unstable protein with 469 amino acids and covered hydroxymethylglutaryl-Co A synthase domain. PnHMGR2(1690 bp) also encoded an unstable protein with 589 amino acids and possessed a hydroxymethylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase domain and two transmembrane regions. Both of the genes were expressed most in flowers followed by roots, stems, and least in leaves. 16Elevated Resting Heart Rate is Associated with Dyslipidemia in Middle-aged and Elderly Chinese显示文摘Objective To study the relationship between resting heart rate and blood lipid level.Methods A total of 9 415 subjects aged≥40 years were included in the present study.Their resting heart rate was monitored and their serum levels of triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)and high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)were measured to define dyslipidemia according to the 2007 Chinese Guidelines on Prevention and Treatment of Dyslipidemia in Adults.Results The subjects were divided into group A with their resting heart rate<70 beats/min,group B with their resting heart rate=70-79 beats/min,group C with their resting heart rate=80-89 beats/min,and group D with their resting heart rate≥90 beats/min.High TG,TC,and LDL-C were presented across the resting heart rate(Ptrend<0.01).Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that the risk of high TG and TC was higher in subjects with their resting heart rate≥90 beats/min than in those with their resting heart rate<70 beats/min(OR=1.42;95%CI:1.16-1.74 and OR=1.33;95%CI:1.09-1.64,respectively).Conclusion Elevated resting heart rate is associated with high TG and TC in middle-aged and elderly Chinese subjects.SUN Ji Chao HUANG Xiao Lin DENG Xin Ru LV Xiao Fei LU Jie Li CHEN Yu Hong BI Yu Fang WANG Wei Qing XU Min NING Guang 2014Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2014,27,8:5

18A Review on Recent Development of Cooling Technologies for Photovoltaic Modules显示文摘When converting solar energy to electricity,a big proportion of energy is not converted for electricity but for heating PV cells,resulting in increased cell temperature and reduced electrical efficiency.Many cooling technologies have been developed and used for PV modules to lower cell temperature and boost electric energy yield.However,little crucial review work was proposed to comment cooling technologies for PV modules.Therefore,this paper has provided a thorough review of the up-to-date development of existing cooling technologies for PV modules,and given appropriate comments,comparisons and discussions.According to the ways or principles of cooling,existing cooling technologies have been classified as fluid medium cooling(air cooling,water cooling and nanofluids cooling),optimizing structural configuration cooling and phase change materials cooling.Potential influential factors and sub-methods were collected from the review work,and their contributions and impact have been discussed to guide future studies.Although most cooling technologies reviewed in this paper are matured,there are still problems need to be solved,such as the choice of cooling fluid and its usability for specific regions,the fouling accumulation and cleaning of enhanced heat exchangers with complex structures,the balance between cooling cost and net efficiency of PV modules,the cooling of circulating water in tropical areas and the freezing of circulating water in cold areas.To be advocated,due to efficient heat transfer and spectral filter characters,nanofluids can promote the effective matching of solar energy at both spectral and spatial scales to achieve orderly energy utilization.ZHANG Chunxiao SHEN Chao WEI Shen WANG Yuan LV Guoquan SUN Cheng 2020Journal of Thermal Science2020,29,6:5
19Does an extended mediastinal lymphadenectomy improve outcome after R0 resection in lung cancer?显示文摘Objective: This retrospective study was conducted to investigate the impact of more extended mediastinal lymphadenectomy on the outcome of lung cancer patients treated with R0 resection.Methods: During the investigation period, 325 lung cancer cases were enlisted and 278 cases entered the analysis. The patients were divided into Control group(n=116) and Research group(n=162) according to the different extents of mediastinal lymph node clearance at different time periods. Three major parameters were retrospectively assessed to compare the quality of surgical care: extent of lymph node clearance, resection volume, and postoperative recovery process and common complications. Comparison of the outcome between two groups was carried out.Results: Research group showed a significant quality improvement of lymphadenectomy, such as more mediastinal node stations investigated(more than 3 N2 stations investigated: Research group, 90.7% vs. Control group, 55.2%; P=0.001) and more nodes collection(total nodes 26.1±10.0 vs. 19.1±8.3, P=0.000; N2 nodes 15.5±7.2 vs. 9.8±5.6, P=0.000). However, overall survival(OS) and disease-free survival(DFS) were not significantly different either between two groups(5-year OS: Control group, 56.4±4.6% vs. Research group, 62.6±4.3%; P=0.271) or between subgroups from stage I to IIIa.
