1Wnt/b-catenin signaling plays an ever-expanding role in stem cell self-renewal,tumorigenesis and cancer chemoresistance显示文摘Wnt signaling transduces evolutionarily conserved pathways which play important roles in initiating and regulating a diverse range of cellular activities,including cell proliferation,calcium homeostasis,and cell polarity.The role of Wnt signaling in controlling cell proliferation and stem cell self-renewal is primarily carried out through the canonical pathway,which is the best-characterized the multiple Wnt signaling branches.The past 10 years has seen a rapid expansion in our understanding of the complexity of this pathway,as many new components of Wnt signaling have been identified and linked to signaling regulation,stem cell functions,and adult tissue homeostasis.Additionally,a substantial body of evidence links Wnt signaling to tumorigenesis of cancer types and implicates it in the development of cancer drug resistance.Thus,a better understanding of the mechanisms by which dysregulation of Wnt signaling precedes the development and progression of human cancer may hasten the development of pathway inhibitors to augment current therapy.This review summarizes and synthesizes our current knowledge of the canonical Wnt pathway in development and disease.We begin with an overview of the components of the canonical Wnt signaling pathway and delve into the role this pathway has been shown to play in stemness,tumorigenesis,and cancer drug resistance.Ultimately,we hope to present an organized collection of evidence implicating Wnt signaling in tumorigenesis and chemoresistance to facilitate the pursuit of Wnt pathway modulators that may improve outcomes of cancers in which Wnt signaling contributes to aggressive disease and/or treatment resistance.Maryam K.Mohammed Connie Shao Jing Wang Qiang Wei Xin Wang Zachary Collier Shengli Tang Hao Liu Fugui Zhang Jiayi Huang Dan Guo Minpeng Lu Feng Liu Jianxiang Liu Chao Ma Lewis L.Shi Aravind Athiviraham Tong-Chuan He Michael J.Lee 2016Genes & Diseases2016,3,1:70
2Dust storms and loess accumulation on the Tibetan Plateau: A case study of dust event on 4 March 2003 in Lhasa显示文摘Whether the Tibetan Plateau is a significant dust source area is of great importance, because this is re-lated to the understanding of sources, accumulation and environmental effects of dusts on the Tibetan Plateau and in the Far East-Pacific Ocean regions as well as to the evolution of coupling of the Tibetan Plateau and atmosphere-ocean- continent exchange. Synoptic dynamics and remote sensing tracing of a dust storm on 3 to 5 March, 2003 in Lhasa on South Tibet demonstrate that the Tibetan Plateau possesses all factors and conditions of generating dust storms. Accom-panied with this dust storm is a strong ascending stream on the Plateau which has raised various sizes of dust particles into different levels. The lifted coarse particles were largely fallen down and accumulated as loess on the eastern Tibetan Plateau, and the fine particles were translated by the west-erly jet and subsided in the northern Pacific Ocean. The spa-tial-temporal distribution of dust-storms between years 1961 and 2000 on the Plateau shows that dust-storms mainly occur in winter and early spring with high frequency, and the path of dust storm moves gradually from south to north, which is closely coupled with the northward moving of the westerly jet from winter to spring over the Tibetan Plateau. 3Methanation of syngas over coral reef-like Ni/Al_2O_3 catalysts显示文摘Coral reef-like Ni/Al2O3 catalysts were prepared by co-precipitation of nickel acetate and aluminium nitrate with sodium carbonate aqueous solution in the medium of ethylene glycolye.Methanation of syngas was carried out over coral reef-like Ni/Al2O3 catalysts in a continuous flow type fixed-bed reactor.The structure and properties of the fresh and used catalysts were studied by SEM,N2 adsorption-desorption,XRD,H2-TPR,O2-TPO,TG and ICP-AES techniques.The results showed that the coral reef-like Ni/Al2O3 catalysts exhibited better activity than the conventional Ni/Al2O3-H2O catalysts.The activities of coral reef-like catalysts were in the order of Ni/Al2O3-673>Ni/Al2O3-573>Ni/Al2O3- 473>Ni/Al2O3-773.Ni/Al2O3-673-EG catalyst showed not only good activity and improved stability but also superior resistance to carbon deposition,sintering,and Ni loss.Under the reaction conditions of CO/H2(molar ratio)=1:3,593 K,atmospheric pressure and a GHSV of 2500 h-1,CH4 selectivity was 84.7%,and the CO conversion reached 98.2%.Shengli Ma Yisheng Tan Yizhuo Han 2011Journal of Natural Gas Chemistry2011,20,4:23
4Internal structure of Longmenshan fault zone at Hongkou outcrop,Sichuan,China,that caused the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘This paper reports the internal structures of the Beichuan fault zone of Longmenshan fault system that caused the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake,at an outcrop in Hongkou,Sichuan province,China.Present work is a part of comprehensive project of Institute of Geology,China Earthquake Administration,trying to understand deformation processes in Longmenshan fault zones and eventually to reproduce Wenchuan earthquake by modeling based on measured mechanical and transport properties.Outcrop studies could be integrated with those performed on samples recovered from fault zone drilling,during the Wenchuan Earthquake Fault Scientific Drilling(WFSD) Project,to understand along-fault and depth variation of fault zone properties.The hanging wall side of the fault zone consists of weakly-foliated,clayey fault gouge of about 1 m in width and of several fault breccia zones of 30-40 m in total width.We could not find any pseudotachylite at this outcrop.Displacement during the Wenchuan earthquake is highly localized within the fault gouge layer along narrower slipping-zones of about 10 to 20 mm in width.This is an important constraint for analyzing thermal pressurization,an important dynamic weakening mechanism of faults.Overlapping patterns of striations on slickenside surface suggest that seismic slip at a given time occurred in even narrower zone of a few to several millimeters,so that localization of deformation must have occurred within a slipping zone during coseismic fault motion.Fault breccia zones are bounded by thin black gouge layers containing amorphous carbon.Fault gouge contains illite and chlorite minerals,but not smectite.Clayey fault gouge next to coseismic slipping zone also contains amorphous carbon and small amounts of graphite.The structural observations and mineralogical data obtained from outcrop exposures of the fault zone of the Wenchuan earthquake can be compared with those obtained from the WFSD-1 and WFSD-2 boreholes, which have been drilled very close to the Hongkou outcrop.The presence of carbon and graphite,observed next to the slipping-zone,may affect the mechanical properties of the fault and also provide useful information about coseismic chemical changes.Tetsuhiro Togo Toshihiko Shimamoto Shengli Ma Xueze Wen Honglin He 2011Earthquake Science2011,24,3:19

6Changes in China’s lakes: climate and human impacts显示文摘Lakes have played a critical role in providing water and ecosystem services for people and other organisms in China for millennia.However,accelerating climate change and economic boom have resulted in unprecedented changes in these valuable lakes.Using Landsat images covering the entity of the country,we explored the changes in China’s lakes and the associated driving forces over the last 30 years(i.e.mid-1980 s to 2015).We discovered that China’s lakes have changed with divergent regional trends:in the sparsely populated Tibetan Plateau,lakes are abundant and the lake area has increased dramatically from 38596 to46831 km^2(i.e.increased by 8235 km^2,or 21.3%),whereas,in the densely populated northern and eastern regions,lakes are relatively scarce and the lake area has decreased from 36659 to 33657 km^2(i.e.decreased by 3002 km^2,or 8.2%).In particular,severe lake decreases occurred in the Mongolia-Xinjiang Plateau and the Eastern Plain(-2151 km^2).Statistical analyses indicated that climate was the most important factor controlling lake changes in the Tibetan Plateau,the Yun-Gui Plateau and the Northeast Plain.However,the strength of climatic control on lake changes was low in the Eastern Plain and the Mongolia-Xinjiang Plateau,where human activities,e.g.impoldering,irrigation and mining,have caused serious impacts on lakes.Further lake changes will exacerbate regional imbalances between lake resources and population distribution,and thus may increase the risk of water-resource crises in China.Shengli Tao Jingyun Fang Suhui Ma Qiong Cai Xinyu Xiong Di Tian Xia Zhao Leqi Fang Heng Zhang Jiangling Zhu Shuqing Zhao 2020National Science Review2020,7,1:14
7Partial Melting and Its Implications for Understanding the Seismic Velocity Structure within the Southern Tibetan Crust显示文摘In order to constrain the crustal wave velocity structure in the southern Tibetan crust and provide insight into the contribution of crustal composition, geothermal gradient and partial melting to the velocity structure, which is characterized by low average crustal velocities and widespread presence of low-velocity zone(s), the authors model the crustal velocity and density as functions of depth corresponding to various heat flow values in light of velocity measurements at high temperature and high pressure. The modeled velocity and density are regarded as comparison standards. The comparison of the standards with seismic observations in southern Tibet implies that the predominantly felsic composition at high heat flow cannot explain the observed velocity structure there. Hence, the authors are in favor of attributing low average crustal velocities and low-velocity zone(s) observed in southern Tibet mainly to partial melting. 8High-velocity frictional behavior of Longmenshan fault gouge from Hongkou outcrop and its implications for dynamic weakening of fault during the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘High-velocity friction experiments were conducted on clayey fault gouge collected from Hongkou outcrop of Beichuan fault,located at the southwestern part of Longmenshan fault system that caused the disastrous 2008 Wenchuan earthquake.The ultimate purpose of this study is to reproduce this earthquake by modeling based on measured frictional properties.Dry gouge of about 1 mm in thickness was deformed dry at slip rates of 0.01 to 1.3 m/s and at normal stresses of 0.61 to 3.04 MPa,using a rotary-shear high-velocity frictional testing machine.The gouge displays slip weakening behavior as initial peak friction decays towards steady-state values after a given displacement.Both peak friction and steady-state friction remain high at slow slip rates are examined and gouge only exhibits dramatic weakening at high slip rates,with steady-state friction coefficient values of about 0.1 to 0.2.Specific fracture energy ranges from 1 to 4 MN/m in our results and this is of the same order as seismically determined values.Low friction coefficients measured on experimental faults are in broad agreement with lack of thermal anomaly observed from temperature measurements in WFSD-1 drill hole(Wenchuan Earthquake Fault Scientific Drilling Project),which can be explained by even smaller friction coefficient for the Wenchuan earthquake fault.High-velocity friction experiments with pore water needs to be done to see if even smaller friction is attained or not.Shiny slickenside surfaces form at high slip rates,but not at slow slip rates. 9Laboratory acoustic emission study for earthquake generation process显示文摘Since the similarity in size distribution of earthquakes and acoustic emissions(AE) was found in the1960 s, many laboratory studies have been motivated by the need to provide tools for the prediction of mining failures and natural earthquakes. 10Effects of annealing temperature on the microstructure and hardness of TiAlSiN hard coatings显示文摘TiAlSiN hard coatings were synthesized on high-speed steel using an arc ion enhanced magnetic sputtering hybrid system.The microstructure and hardness of the coatings at different annealing temperatures were explored by means of XRD,TEM,EDAX and Vickers indentation.The as-deposited TiAlSiN coatings were confirmed to be amorphous due to high depositing rate and low deposition temperature during the film growth.The transformation from amorphous to nanocomposites of nano-crystallites and amorphousness were observed after the annealing treatment,the microstructure of TiAlSiN coatings annealed at 800°C and 1000°C were consisted of crystalline hcp-AlN,fcc-TiN and amorphous phase,however,the coatings were only consisted of fcc-TiN and amorphous phase when annealing at 1100°C and 1200°C.Meanwhile,the formation of Al2O3 was detected on the coating surface after annealing at 1200°C and it indicated the excellent oxidation resistance of the TiAlSiN coatings under the present experimental conditions.Furthermore,the average grain size of the TiAlSiN coatings after high temperature annealing even at 1200°C was less than 30 nm and the size increased with the increasing temperature.However,the hardness of the so-deposited coatings with HV0.2N=3300 dramatically decreased with the increase of temperature and reached nearly to the hardness of TiN coatings with HV0.2N=2300.WANG Xin XU JianHua MA ShengLi XU KeWei 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,16:11
11Influence of Mg and Ti on the microstructure and electrochemical performance of aluminum alloy sacrificial anodes显示文摘The experiments focused on the influence of magnesium and titanium as additional alloying elements on the microstructure and electro-chemical behavior of Al-Zn-In sacrificial anodes. The electrochemical behavior of the aluminum sacrificial anode with 3 wt.% sodium chloride solution was studied by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests. It was found that a microstructure with few precipitates and refined grains could be achieved by adding 1 wt.% Mg and 0.05 wt.% Ti to the Al-Zn-In alloy,resulting in the improved current capacity and efficiency of the alloy. The equivalent circuit based on the EIS experimental data revealed less corrosion and lower adsorbed corrosion production on the surface of the aluminum alloy with a combination of 1 wt.% Mg and 0.05 wt.% Ti,which suggested that the corrosion behavior seemed to be strongly related to the presence of precipitate particles in the aluminum alloy,and moderate amounts of precipitate particles could be beneficial to the electrochemical performance of the aluminum alloy sacrificial anode.Ma Jingling Wen Jiuba Li Xudong Zhao Shengli Yan Yanfu 2009Rare Metals2009,28,2:9
12Experimental evidence for seismic nucleation phase显示文摘The friction experiments on macroscopically homogeneous and non-homogeneous faults were performed by using a double-shear friction rig, and the waveforms of acoustic emission and the fault slip corresponding to the stick-slip instability events were analyzed. The results indicate that there exist two types of nucleation phase for stick-slip instability of non-homogeneous faults, and one is coincident with the preslip model, the other with the cascade model. 14A laboratory acoustic emission experiment and numerical simulation of rock fracture driven by a high-pressure fluid source显示文摘In order to improve our understanding of rock fracture and fault instability driven by high-pressure fluid sources, the authors carried out rock fracture tests using granite under a confining pressure of 80 MPa with fluid injection in the laboratory. Furthermore, we tested a number of numerical models using the FLAC^(3D) modeling software to find the best model to represent the experimental results. The high-speed multichannel acoustic emission(AE) waveform recording system used in this study made it possible to examine the total fracture process through detailed monitoring of AE hypocenters and seismic velocity.The experimental results show that injecting high-pressure oil into the rock sample can induce AE activity at very low stress levels and can dramatically reduce the strength of the rock. The results of the numerical simulations show that major experimental results, including the strength, the temporal and spatial patterns of the AE events, and the role of the fluid can be represented fairly well by a model involving(1) randomly distributed defect elements to model pre-existing cracks,(2) random modification of rock properties to represent inhomogeneity introduced by different mineral grains, and(3)macroscopic inhomogeneity. 15A rotary-shear low to high-velocity friction apparatus in Beijing to study rock friction at plate to seismic slip rates显示文摘This paper reviews 19 apparatuses having highvelocity capabilities,describes a rotary-shear low to highvelocity friction apparatus installed at Institute of Geology,China Earthquake Administration,and reports results from velocity-jump tests on Pingxi fault gouge to illustrate technical problems in conducting velocity-stepping tests at high velocities.The apparatus is capable of producing plate to seismic velocities(44 mm/a to 2.1 m/s for specimens of 40 mm in diameter),using a 22 kW servomotor with a gear/belt system having three velocity ranges.A speed range can be changed by 103 or 106by using five electromagnetic clutches without stopping the motor.Two cam clutches allow fivefold velocity steps,and the motor speed can be increased from zero to 1,500 rpm in 0.1–0.2 s by changing the controlling voltage.A unique feature of the apparatus is a large specimen chamber where different specimen assemblies can be installed easily.In addition to a standard specimen assembly for friction experiments,two pressure vessels were made for pore pressures to 70 MPa;one at room temperature and the other at temperatures to 500 °C.Velocity step tests are needed to see if the framework of rate-and-state friction is applicable or not at high velocities.We report results from velocity jump tests from 1.4 mm/s to 1.4 m/s on yellowish gouge from a Pingxi fault zone,located at the northeastern part of the Longmenshan fault system that caused the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake.An instantaneous increase in friction followed by dramatic slip weakening was observed for the yellowish gouge with smooth sliding surfaces of host rock,but no instantaneous response was recognized for the same gouge with roughened sliding surfaces.Instantaneous and transient frictional properties upon velocity steps cannot be separated easily at high velocities,and technical improvements for velocity step tests are suggested.Shengli Ma Toshihiko Shimamoto Lu Yao Tetsuhiro Togo Hiroko Kitajima 2014Earthquake Science2014,27,5:6
16Experimental study on patterns of fault interaction显示文摘Based on the data of strain field, fault slip and acoustic emission during the deformation of some fault models, the fault interaction patterns are studied. The experiments reveal four patterns of fault interaction, i.e. static promotion or delay of earthquake, creep triggering, dynamic triggering and dynamic loading-relaxation. 18Experimental study on nucleation process of stick-slip instability on homogeneous and non-homogeneous faults显示文摘The nucleation process of stick-slip instability was analyzed based on the experimental measurements of strain and fault slip on homogeneous and non-homogeneous faults. The results show that the nucleation process of stick-slip on the homogeneous fault is of weak slip-weakening behavior under constant loading point velocity. The existence of a short 'weak segment' on the fault makes slip-weakening phenomenon in nucleation process more obvious, while the existence of a long 'weak segment' on the fault makes the nucleation process changed. The nucleation is characterized by accelerating slip in a local region and rapid increase of shear stress along the fault in this case, which is more coincident with the rate and state friction law. 19Correlation Between Microstructure and Corrosion Behavior of Two 90Cu10Ni Alloy Tubes显示文摘Two kinds of 90Cu10 Ni tubes with different service lives(more than 3 years and only 1 year,respectively)under identical working conditions were studied by an immersion test in a 3.5 wt% NaCl solution and the electron backscattered diffraction(EBSD) technique.The morphology after immersion showed severer corrosion attack at the grain boundaries of the tube with shorter service life compared with the tube with longer service life.The grain boundary characterization distributions(GBCDs) of the two tubes obtained by EBSD revealed more Σ3 boundaries and twins,and larger random boundary meshes in the tube with longer service life.A short immersion test in a modified Livingston's solution was conducted to evaluate the tendency to corrosion attack of different types of the grain boundaries.SEM and AFM were used to characterize the corrosion morphologies of the boundaries.A strong correlation between varying depths of corrosion grooves and types of the grain boundaries was obtained.The influence of deviation angle of low Σ boundaries on corrosion resistance of the grain boundaries was also discussed.It is concluded that a special ‘‘grain boundary engineering''(GBE) treatment has been performed on the tube with longer service life.It is proposed that the optimized GBCD is responsible for the better service performance of the tube.Aili Ma Shengli Jiang Yugui Zheng Zhiming Yao Wei Ke Shuang Xia 2014Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2014,27,4:4
20Internal structures and high-velocity frictional properties of Longmenshan fault zone at Shenxigou activated during the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake显示文摘This paper reports internal structures of a wide fault zone at Shenxigou,Dujiangyan,Sichuan province,China,and high-velocity frictional properties of the fault gouge collected near the coseismic slip zone during the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake.Vertical offset and horizontal displacement at the trench site were 2.8 m(NW side up)and 4.8 m(right-lateral),respectively.The fault zone formed in Triassic sandstone,siltstone,and shale about 500 m away from the Yingxiu-Beichuan fault,a major fault in the Longmenshan fault system.A trench survey across the coseismic fault,and observations of outcrops and drill cores down to a depth of 57 m revealed that the fault zone consists of fault gouge and fault breccia of about0.5 and 250–300 m in widths,respectively,and that the fault strikes N62°E and dips 68° to NW.Quaternary conglomerates were recovered beneath the fault in the drilling,so that the fault moved at least 55 m along the coseismic slip zone,experiencing about 18 events of similar sizes.The fault core is composed of grayish gouge(GG) and blackish gouge(BG) with very complex slip-zone structures.BG contains low-crystalline graphite of about 30 %.High-velocity friction experiments were conducted at normal stresses of 0.6–2.1 MPa and slip rates of 0.1–2.1 m/s.Both GG and BG exhibit dramatic slip weakening at constant high slip rates that can be described as an exponential decay from peak friction coefficient lpto steadystate friction coefficient lssover a slip-weakening distance Dc.Deformation of GG and BG is characterized by overlapped slip-zone structures and development of sharp slickenside surfaces,respectively.Comparison of our data with those reported for other outcrops indicates that the high-velocity frictional properties of the Longmenshan fault zones are quite uniform and the high-velocity weakening must have promoted dynamic rupture propagation during the Wenchuan earthquake.Yu Wang Shengli Ma Toshihiko Shimamoto Lu Yao Jianye Chen Xiaosong Yang Honglin He Jiaxiang Dang Linfeng Hou Tetsuhiro Togo 2014Earthquake Science2014,27,5:3
