| 4 | ζ-Carotene Isomerase Suppresses Tillering in Rice through the Coordinated Biosynthesis of Strigolactone and Abscisic Acid显示文摘Rice tillering is an important agronomic trait affecting grain yield.Here,we identified a high-tillering mutant tillering20(t20),which could be restored to the wild type by treatment with the strigolactone(SL)analog rac-GR24.T20 encodes a chloroplast ζ-carotene isomerase(Z-ISO),which is involved in the biosynthesis of ca-rotenoids and their metabolites,SL and abscisic acid(ABA).The t20 mutant has reduced SL and ABA,raising the question of how SL and ABA biosynthesis is coordinated,and whether they have overlapping functions in tillering.We discovered that rac-GR24 stimulated T20 expression and enhanced all-trans-p-carotene biosynthesis.Importantly,rac-GR24 also stimulated expression of Oryza sativa 9-CIS-EPOXY-CAROTENOID DIOXYGENASE 1(OsNCED1)through induction of Oryza sativa HOMEOBOX12(0sHOX12),promoting ABA biosynthesis in shoot base.On the other hand,ABA treatment significantly repressed SL biosynthesis and the ABA biosynthetic mutants displayed elevated SL biosynthesis.ABA treatment reduced the number of basal tillers in both t20 and wild-type plants.Furthermore,while ABA-deficient mu-tants aba1 and aba2 had the same number of basal tillers as wild type,they had more unproductive upper tillers at maturity.This work demonstrates complex interactions in the biosynthesis of carotenoid,SLs and ABA,and reveals a role for ABA in the regulation of rice tillering. | Xue Liu Qingliang Hu Jijun Yan Kai Sun Yan Liang Meiru Jia Xiangbing Meng Shuang Fang Yiqin Wang Yanhui Jing Guifu Liu Dianxing Wu Chengcai Chu Steven M.Smith Jinfang Chu Yonghong Wang Jiayang Li Bing Wang | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020，13，12： | 11 |
| 5 | Surface integrity of GH4169 affected by cantilever finish grinding and the application in aero-engine blades显示文摘GH4169 is the main material for aero-engine blades and integrated blisks. Because GH4169 has a poor milling performance, the profile precision and surface integrity of blades and integrated blisks are difficult to be met by utilizing the conventional milling process, which directly influence the global performance and reliability of aero-engines. Through grinding experiments on parameters and surface integrity optimization, the helical cantilever grinding process utilizing a300# CBN RB wheel is presented and applied in finish machining of GH4169 blades. The profile errors of the blade surface are within ±0.01 mm, the roughness is less than 0.4 lm, the residual compressive stresses and the hardening rate are appropriate, there are no phenomena of burr and smearing with the grinding chips, and the leading/trailing edge can be smoothly connected with the suction/pressure surface. | 6 | Association between large artery stenosis,cerebral small vessel disease and risk of ischemic stroke显示文摘We aimed to assess the associations of large artery stenosis(LAS)and cerebral small vessel disease(CSVD)with the risk of ischemic stroke and to investigate their respective and combined contributions.In the prospective population-based Shunyi Study,1,082 stroke-free participants aged 55.9±9.1 years were included.Participants were followed for incident stroke throughout the study period(2013-2019).Total small vessel disease score was used to measure CSVD burden.Cervico-cerebral large artery stenosis was evaluated via brain magnetic resonance angiography and carotid ultrasound.We estimated the risk of ischemic stroke in relation to LAS and CSVD with Cox regression models.During a mean follow-up of 4.2 years,34 participants(3.1%)experienced at least one ischemic stroke.Severe LAS(≥50% stenosis versus no stenosis:HR=3.27(95%CI:1.31-8.18))and high CSVD burden(total small vessel disease score 2-4 versus 0 point:HR=12.73(4.83-33.53))were associated with increased stroke risk independently.In multivariate models,CSVD burden(7.72%)explained a larger portion of the variation in stroke risk than severity of LAS(3.49%).Our findings identified that both LAS and CSVD were associated with future ischemic stroke in asymptomatic subjects,while those with high CSVD burden deserve more attention in primary prevention of stroke. | Fei Han Ding-Ding Zhang Fei-Fei Zhai Jun Xue Jiang-Tao Zhang Shuang Yan Li-Xin Zhou Jun Ni Ming Yao Meng Yang Ming-Li Li Zheng-Yu Jin Qing Dai Shu-Yang Zhang Li-Ying Cui Yi-Cheng Zhu | 2021 | Science China(Life Sciences)2021，64，9： | 9 |
| 7 | Silicon-based four-mode division multiplexing for chip-scale optical data transmission in the 2 μm waveband显示文摘Based on a silicon platform, we design and fabricate a four-mode division(de)multiplexer for chip-scale optical data transmission in the 2 μm waveband for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. The(de)multiplexer is composed of three tapered directional couplers for both mode multiplexing and demultiplexing processes. In the experiment, the average crosstalk for four channels is measured to be less than-18 dB over a wide wavelength range(70 nm) from 1950 to 2020 nm, and the insertion losses are also assessed. Moreover, we further demonstrate stable 5 Gbit/s direct modulation data transmission through the fabricated silicon photonic devices with nonreturn-to-zero on–off keying signals. The experimental results show clear eye diagrams, and the penalties at a bit error rate of 3.8 × 10-3 are all less than 2.5 dB after on-chip data transmission. | 8 | Association of genotypes of rs671 within ALDH2 with risk for gastric cardia adenocarcinoma in the Chinese Han population in high-and low-incidence areas显示文摘Objective: This study aimed to determine if gastric cardia adenocarcinoma(GCA) risk was associated with the lys(A or *2) allele at the rs671(glu504lys) polymorphism within the aldehyde dehydrogenase 2(ALDH2) gene in a Chinese Han population. We also aimed to investigate ALDH2 genotypic distributions between subjects from high- and low-incidence areas for both GCA and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).Methods: We designed a case-control study including 2,686 patients with GCA and 3,675 control subjects from high- and lowincidence areas for both GCA and ESCC in China. Taq Man allele discrimination assay was used to genotype the rs671 polymorphism. χ~2 test and binary logistic regression analysis were used to estimate the odds ratios for the development of GCA,and multivariate ordinal logistic regression was used to analyze ALDH2 genotypic distributions among different groups.Results: Compared with ALDH2*1/*1 homozygotes, ALDH2*1/*2 and ALDH2*2/*2 carriers did not increase the risk for GCA in the Chinese Han population(P>0.05). Interestingly, the ratio of homozygous or heterozygous ALDH2 *2 carriers in highincidence areas for both GCA and ESCC was lower than that in low-incidence areas(P<0.001).Conclusions: Genotypes of rs671 at ALDH2 may not increase GCA susceptibility in Chinese Han populations. In addition, the ALDH2 genotypic distribution differs between Chinese Han populations from high- and low-incidence areas for both GCA and ESCC. | 13 | Salicylate enhances expression and function of NMDA receptors in cochlear spiral ganglion neurons显示文摘Objective To study the effect of salicylate on the expression and function of NMDA receptors in spiral ganglion neurons (SGNs). Methods The mRNA of NR1 subunit of NMDA receptor in modiolus tissues were detected by Real time fluorescence quantitative PCR (FQ-PCR). NMDA receptor whole-cell currents were recorded using patch clamp in acute isolated SGNs. Results Compared with the control group, salicylate significantly increased the mRNA level of NR1 subunit in SGNs. NMDA of concentrations ranging from 0.1 mM to 10 mM evoked no current in SGNs. NMDA (0.1mM and 0.5 mM) applied with salicylate (5 mM), however, induced inward currents (212.6±15.2pA, n=5; 607.9±44.3pA, n=5) in a dose-dependent manner, which could be inhibited by APV. Salicylate alone did not produce any current in SGNs. | 15 | Histogram analysis of apparent diffusion coefficient predicts response to radiofrequency ablation in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Objective: The aim of this study was to predict tumor progression in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) treated with radiofrequency ablation(RFA) using histogram analysis of apparent diffusion coefficients(ADC).Methods: Breath-hold diffusion weighted imaging(DWI) was performed in 64 patients(33 progressive and 31 stable) with biopsy-proven HCC prior to RFA. All patients had pre-treatment magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)and follow-up computed tomography(CT) or MRI. The ADC values(ADC_(10), ADC_(30_, ADC_(median) and ADC_(max))were obtained from the histogram's 10 th, 30 th, 50 th and 100 th percentiles. The ratios of ADC_(10), ADC_(30_,ADCmedian and ADCmax to the mean non-lesion area-ADC(RADC_(10), RADC_(30_, RADC_(median), and RADC_(max)) were calculated. The two patient groups were compared. Key predictive factors for survival were determined using the univariate and multivariate analysis of the Cox model. The Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was performed, and pairs of survival curves based on the key factors were compared using the log-rank test.Results: The ADC_(30_, ADCmedian, ADCmax, RADC_(30_, RADC_(median), and RADC_(max) were significantly larger in the progressive group than in the stable group(P<0.05). The median progression-free survival(PFS) was 22.9 months for all patients. The mean PFS for the stable and progressive groups were 47.7±1.3 and 9.8±1.3 months,respectively. Univariate analysis indicated that RADC_(10), RADC_(30_, and RADC_(median) were significantly correlated with the PFS [hazard ratio(HR)=31.02, 43.84, and 44.29, respectively, P<0.05 for all]. Multivariate analysis showed that RADCmedian was the only independent predictor of tumor progression(P=0.04). | 16 | PCL2 regulates p53 stability and functions as a tumor suppressor in breast cancer显示文摘Polycomblike2(PCL2) is a well-known component of polycomb repressive complex 2(PRC2) and plays important roles in H3 K27 methylation and homeotic gene silencing.However,the involvement of PCL2 in breast cancer development remains unclear.Here,we established PCL2 as a tumor suppressor gene in breast cancer.Expression level of PCL2 was significantly downregulated in breast cancer tissue samples observed at different TNM stages.Ectopic expression of PCL2 could significantly inhibit cell proliferation and promoted apoptosis.PCL2 also remarkably elevated levels of p53 and its targets by increasing p53 stability.Mechanistically,PCL2 protected p53 proteins from MDM2-mediated ubiquitination and degradation by sequestering MDM2 into the nucleolus.Overexpression of PCL2 also suppressed migration and invasion by inhibiting epithelial-mesenchymal transition.PCL2 expression was correlated with Ecadherin expression and was inversely correlated with vimentin expression.Furthermore,PCL2 knockdown could attenuate anti-tumor effect of MLN4924.Taken together,our findings indicated that PCL2 played a tumor suppressor role in development and progression of breast cancer and may be a prognostic and predictive marker for breast cancer. | Yiran Liang Yang Yang Renbo Guo Shuang Gao Xinghong Guo Danyang Li Meng Wang Haruhiko Koseki Xiangzhi Li | 2018 | Science Bulletin2018，63，10： | 4 |
| 17 | Recent Advances on Boosting the Cell Voltage of Aqueous Supercapacitors显示文摘Due to its ultra-fast charge/discharge rate,long cyclic life span,and environmental benignity,aqueous supercapacitor(SC)is considered as a proper nextgeneration energy storage device.Unfortunately,limited by undesirable water electrolysis and unreasonable electrode potential range,aqueous SC normally generates a narrow cell voltage,resulting in a low energy density.To address such challenge,enormous efforts have been made to construct high-voltage aqueous SCs.Despite these achievements,the systematic reviews about this field are still rare.To fill this knowledge gap,this review summarizes the recent advances about boosting the cell voltage of aqueous SCs.From the viewpoint of electrode,doping alkali cations,modulating the electrode mass ratio,and optimizing the surface charge density are regarded as three effective pathways to achieve this goal.However,adjusting the appropriate pH level,introducing redox mediators,and constructing“water-in-salt”electrolyte are other three universal routes from the electrolyte aspect.Furthermore,it is also effective to obtain the high-voltage aqueous SCs through asymmetric design,such as designing asymmetric SCs.The confronting challenges and future development tendency towards the high-voltage aqueous SCs are further discussed. | Qianzhi Gou Shuang Zhao Jiacheng Wang Meng Li Junmin Xue | 2020 | Nano-Micro Letters2020，12，8： | 4 |
| 18 | Interferon as a Mucosal Adjuvant for an Influenza Vaccine in Pigs显示文摘Interferon,a natural protein that is produced by a variety of cells during viral infection,activates the transcription of multiple functional genes in cells,regulates synergy among various signaling pathways,and mediates many biological functions such as antiviral activity,immune regulation,and cell growth.However,clinical research on interferon in livestock is lacking.In this study,recombinant porcine interferon(PoIFNα)was used as an adjuvant,in combination with inactivated influenza virus,to vaccinate 6-week-old pigs via nasal infusion.The transcription of target genes was then monitored and the functions of PoIFNαwere determined with respect to the activation of mucosal immunity.We found that a combination of low-dose PoIFNαand in activated influenza virus could significantly up-regulate the expression of immunoregulatory cytokines such as IL-2,IL-1β,IFN-γ,IL-6,and IL-10 by real-time PCR,suggesting the induction of a strong mucosal innate immune response after administration.In addition,low-dose PoIFNαcan significant enhancing the transcription of genes encoding homing factors including CCR9 and CCR10(P<0.001),thereby resulting in the induction of higher levels of HA-specific antibodies(P<0.05),which can be determined by ELISA and IFA.Post-immunization challenges with H1N1 virus demonstrated that PoIFNot,combined with inactivated influenza virus,could alleviate clinical signs in pigs during the early stages of viral infection.These studies reveal low-dose PoIFNαas a potential mucosal adjuvant for influenza virus in pigs. | Lirong Liu Wenhui Fan He Zhang Shuang Zhang Liang Cui Meng Wang Xiaoyuan Bai Wenxian Yang Lei Sun Limin Yang Wenjun Liu Jing Li | 2019 | Virologica Sinica2019，34，3： | 3 |
| 19 | Liver resection versus intensity-modulated radiation therapy for treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma with hepatic vein tumor thrombus:a propensity score matching analysis显示文摘Background:The presence of hepatic vein tumor thrombus(HVTT)is a major determinant of survival outcomes in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)patients.This study compared survival outcomes between liver resection(LR)and intensity-modulated radiation therapy(IMRT)in HCC patients with HVTT.Methods:Data from patients who underwent LR or IMRT for HCC with HVTT at the Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital were retrospectively analyzed.Their survival outcomes were compared before and after propensity score matching(PSM).Results:Three hundred and seven HCC patients with HVTT who underwent either LR(n=140)or IMRT(n=167)were enrolled.PSM matched 82 pairs of patients.The overall survival(OS)and recurrence-free survival(RFS)rates were significantly higher for patients in the LR group than those in the IMRT group.On subgroup analysis,significantly better survival outcomes were obtained after LR than IMRT in patients with peripheral type of HVTT(pHVTT)and major type of HVTT(mHVTT).However,similar survival outcomes were obtained after LR and IMRT when the HVTT had developed into inferior vena cava tumor thrombus(IVCTT).Conclusions:LR resulted in significantly better survival outcomes in HCC patients with HVTT when compared to IMRT.Once the HVTT had developed IVCTT,LR and IMRT resulted in similarly bad survival outcomes. | Zhen-Hua Chen Xiu-Ping Zhang Shuang Feng Jing-Kai Feng Zong-Tao Chai Wei-Xing Guo Jie Shi Wan Yee Lau Yan Meng Shu-Qun Cheng | 2021 | Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition2021，10，5： | 3 |
