1Alleviating the crosstalk effect via a fine-moulded light-blocking matrix for colour-converted micro-LED display with a 122% NTSC gamut显示文摘One of the major challenges when fabricating high gamut colour-converted micro-light-emitting diodes(LEDs)displays is severe crosstalk effect among adjacent pixels because of the wide view-angle feature of micro-LED chips.In this study,potential factors that contribute to the crosstalk effect were systematically simulated.We observed that precisely filling the space between each micro-LED chip with a light blocking matrix(LBM)can be a promising solution to alleviate this risk.After careful investigations,a press-assisted moulding technique was demonstrated to be an effective approach of fabricating the LBM.Nevertheless,experimental observations further revealed that residual black LBM on the surface of micro-LEDs severely reduces the brightness,thereby compromising the display performance.This problem was successfully addressed by employing a plasma etching technique to efficiently extract the trapped light.Eventually,a top-emitting blue micro-LED-based backlight fine-moulded with a black LBM was developed and combined with red and green quantum dot colour-conversion layers for full-colour display.The colour gamut of our manufactured display prototype can cover as high as 122%that of the National Television Standards Committee.Yongming Yin Zhiping Hu Muhammad Umair Ali Miao Duan Yongwei Wu Ming Liu Wenxiang Peng Jun Hou Dongze Li Xin Zhang Hong Meng 2022Light(Advanced Manufacturing)2022,3,3:2

4Improvements to the retractor and muscle flap design for minimally invasive cochlear implantation显示文摘Objective: The aim of this study was to improve muscle flaps and to evaluate surgical outcomes with the use of a novel specialized retractor, which is a surgical instrument used to locate and shape a bony seat for minimally invasive cochlear implantation.Methods: 50 patients aged 1 e75 years with sensorineural hearing loss who required cochlear implantation were recruited. A small incision(<3 cm) was made, and the novel specialized retractor was used in the study group during cochlear implantation. The incision length, surgical outcomes and operative time were recorded and analyzed.Results: The incision length, total operative time and drilling bony time were shorter in the study group than in the control group(P < 0.05, respectively). All patients recovered well after the surgery without any severe complications.Conclusion: The use of a novel specialized retractor standardized the surgical processes of cochlear implantation. The retractor helped locate and control the size of the bony well during bone drilling. 6Some Thoughts on Science-based Botanical Garden Establishment显示文摘Through analysis of the historical and present development of botanical gardens, both domestic and international, with particular focus on botanical garden practices within the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), the authors propose that science-based botanical gardens (which differ from common public gardens), should be founded on plant diversity inventory and ex-situ conservation of wild plant species. Efforts should be directed to rarer species from biodiversity-rich areas and biodiversity hotspots, utilizing cutting-edge technologies to effectively preserve germplasm in living collections. Science-based botanical garden management should be directed by sound scientific evaluation of plant resources and guaranteed by innovative operational mechanisms. Science-based botanical gardens should also emphasize the establishment of identifiable and specialized living collections, research platforms and recruitment of qualified experts. 7Effects of Microgravity on Human Physiology and Ground-Based Models for Space Physiological Studies显示文摘With the development of manned spaceflight, more and more researches are involved in the area of gravitation physiology. When astronauts are exposed to microgravity, a series of special physiological or pathological changes will occur, which will start self-regulation mechanisms to reduce abnormalities and help the organism to better adapt to microgravity. However, these adaptive changes may also induce degradation or damage to physiological functions. This paper summarizes the physiological effects of microgravity on the human body from the aspects of skeletal and mineral metabolism, muscle structure and function, vestibular functions, cardiovascular function and pulmonary function, as well as expounds some commonly used ground-based space analogies. 11Simulation of greenhouse cucumber growth,water and nitrogen dynamics in areas with high groundwater(HG)levels using the HG EU-Rotate_N model显示文摘The fruit yield of cucumber are associated with high input of nitrogen,which poses a risk of pollution to the environment.The EU-Rotate_N model has been used widely for its high performance in the simulation of vegetable growth,water and nitrogen dynamics.However,whether the underground water level affects the performance of the EU-Rotate_N model is unclear.In this study,we modified the groundwater level algorithms to the original model and named the modified model'the HG EU-Rotate_N model'.Experiments over two years on greenhouse cucumber with four different nitrogen(N)treatments(N1-N4)were conducted in Jiangsu Province,China,which has a high groundwater level(area_(HG)).Both original and modified models were used to simulate cucumber growth,water movement and N fate.For the soil water content,the measured values were significantly larger than the simulated values of the original model(value_(O))and closer to those of the HG model(value_(HG));for the soil available nitrogen concentration(SNC),the measured values were significantly higher and lower than value_(O) in 0−10 cm and 10−30 cm soil layers,respectively,and were also closer to those of the values_(HG).The higher SNC in the 0-10 cm soil layer indicated that a high groundwater level might increase the upwards movement of water and nitrogen in the 0-30 cm soil layer.The root mean square error,Nash Sutcliffe Efficiency and difference values show that the HG model was more applicable for areaHG than the original model.In this study,the nitrogen dosage of the N3 treatment was sufficient to meet the requirements of cucumber growth,indicating that the fertilization recommendation according to nitrogen nutrient balance was applicable in this area.Bing Hua Zhuangzhuang Cao Kefeng Zhang Xiangying Xu Yonglong Zhang Haibo Dai Zhiping Zhang Jiezeng Jiang Minmin Miao 2022Vegetable Research2022,2,1:0
12Isolation,identification and artificial inoculation of Ustilago esculenta on Zizania latifolia显示文摘The smut Ustilago esculenta is an endophytic fungus that invades Zizania latifolia(Jiaobai)and plays an important role in inducing the host stem to form a swollen gall.The aims of this study were to investigate isolation,identification and inoculation methods of U.esculenta from Jiaobai.The spore suspension culturing method was the best method of isolating U.esculenta,and yeast-like fungal strains and septate hyphal strains were obtained.The universal primers ITS1 and ITS4 amplified a ribosomal DNA spacer element from all tested strains,while specific primers for Lam16A gene generated a 442 bp product only with septate hyphae strains.De novo transcriptome assembly results showed that the yeast-like fungal strains did not match Ustilago,and genomic analysis suggested the septate hyphae strains were highly similar to known smut fungi.Therefore,the septate hyphae strains were identified as U.esculenta,which indicated that the ITS primers were not species-specific but that Lam16A-specific primers can distinguish U.esculenta accurately and easily.In vitro,U.esculenta grew quickly on PDA medium at 28°C in darkness.Furthermore,an inoculation method was established to produce swollen stems by injecting a spore suspension of U.esculenta at OD600=2.5 into the basal culm internode of male Jiaobai.Zhiping Zhang Shengyang Xu Mengqi Kong Haibo Dai Yancheng Liu Minmin Miao 2021Horticultural Plant Journal2021,7,4:0
