| 2 | Immobilization of functional nano-objects in living engineered bacterial biofilms for catalytic applications显示文摘Nanoscale objects feature very large surface-area-to-volume ratios and are now understood as powerful tools for catalysis,but their nature as nanomaterials brings challenges including toxicity and nanomaterial pollution.Immobilization is considered a feasible strategy for addressing these limitations.Here,as a proof-of-concept for the immobilization of nanoscale catalysts in the extracellular matrix of bacterial biofilms,we genetically engineered amyloid monomers of the Escherichia coli curli nanofiber system that are secreted and can self-assemble and anchor nano-objects in a spatially precise manner.We demonstrated three scalable,tunable and reusable catalysis systems:biofilm-anchored gold nanoparticles to reduce nitro aromatic compounds such as the pollutant p-nitrophenol,biofilm-anchored hybrid Cd0.9Zn0.1S quantum dots and gold nanoparticles to degrade organic dyes and biofilm-anchored CdSeS@ZnS quantum dots in a semi-artificial photosynthesis system for hydrogen production.Our work demonstrates how the ability of biofilms to grow in scalable and complex spatial arrangements can be exploited for catalytic applications and clearly illustrates the design utility of segregating high-energy nano-objects from injury-prone cellular components by engineering anchoring points in an extracellular matrix. | Xinyu Wang Jiahua Pu Yi Liu Fang Ba Mengkui Cui Ke Li Yu Xie Yan Nie Qixi Mi Tao Li Lingli Liu Manzhou Zhu Chao Zhong | 2019 | National Science Review2019,6,5: | 9 |
| 3 | Exposing Cu-rich {110} active facets in PtCu nanostars for boosting electrochemical performance toward multiple liquid fuels electrooxidation显示文摘In catalysis,tuning the structural composition of the metal alloy is known as an efficient way to optimize the catalytic activity.This work presents the synthesis of compositional segregated six-armed PtCu nanostars via a facile solvothermal method and their distinct composition-structure-dependent performances in electrooxidation processes.The alloy is shown to have a unique six arms with a Cu-rich dodecahedral core,mainly composed of {110} facets and exhibit superior catalytic activity toward alcohols electrooxidation compared to the hollow counterpart where Cu was selectively etched.Density functional theory (DFT) calculations suggest that the formation of hydroxyl intermediate (OH^*) is crucial to detoxify CO poisoning during the electrooxidation processes.The addition of Cu is found to effectively adjust the d band location of the alloy catalyst and thus enhance the formation of ^*OH intermediate from water splitting,which decreases the coverage of ^*CO intermediate.Our work demonstrates that the unique compositional anisotropy in alloy catalyst may boost their applications in electrocatalysis and provides a methodology for the design of this type catalyst. | Liping Huang Wei Zhang Peng Li Yongbo Song Hongting Sheng Yuanxin Du Yang-Gang Wang Yuen Wu Xun Hong Yanhuai Ding Xiaoyou Yuan Manzhou Zhu | 2019 | Nano Research2019,12,5: | 4 |
| 4 | Calibration of the linear optics in the SSRF storage ring显示文摘PhaseⅠcommissioning of the SSRF storage ring at 3.0 GeV was ended with encouraging results. | 8 | Coupling measurement and correction at the SSRF storage ring显示文摘Brightness is an important parameter for 3rd generation light source. Correcting the emittance coupling is a realistic way to increase brightness without any additional equipment in a machine under operation. The main sources of emittance coupling are betatron coupling and vertical dispersion. At the SSRF storage ring, tune split and LOCO are used to measure the respective betatron and emittance coupling. Both of these sources can be corrected by skew quadrupoles. By measuring the skew quadrupole-coupling response matrix, betatron coupling can be changed from 0.014% to 2%. But the vertical dispersion changes at the same time. LOCO can find the suitable setting to correct simultaneously the betatron coupling and vertical dispersion. The emittance coupling can be reduced to 0.17% by this method. | 12 | Monodispersed Au Pd nanoalloy: composition control synthesis and catalytic properties in the oxidative dehydrogenative coupling of aniline显示文摘A series of Au Pd@C nanoalloy catalysts with tunable compositions were successfully prepared by a co-reduction method. The use of borane-tert-butylamine complex as reductant and oleylamine as both solvent and reductant was very effective for the preparation of the monodispersed nanoalloy. We evaluated the catalytic activity of these Au Pd@C nanoalloys for oxidative dehydrogenative coupling of aniline, which showed better catalytic activity than equal amounts of sole Au@C or Pd@C catalyst. The Au1Pd3@C catalyst exhibited the best performance, indicating that the conversion and selectivity were improved along with the increase of Pd composition. In this synthetic approach, two-phase Brust-Schiffrin method is used. Both PhSeH and NaBH4 should be added drop-wise to the solution of Au(III) at the same time. The formula and molecular purity of [Au25(SePh)18]-TOA+ clusters are characterized by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, NMR and TGA analysis. Furthermore, some critical parameters to obtain pure [Au25(SePh)18]-TOA+ are identified, including the NaBH4-to-Au ratio, the selenolate-to-Au ratio and the temperature. | 19 | Fabrication of 3D hollow acorn-shell-like PtBi intermetallics via a surfactant-free pathway for efficient ethylene glycol electrooxidation显示文摘The synthesis of atomically ordered Pt-based intermetallic electrocatalysts for the direct alcohol fuel cells generally requires the addition of surfactants or the high-temperature annealing.However,some residual surfactants on the surface of the assynthesized catalysts would prevent the exposure of catalytic active sites,the high-temperature annealing process is easy to accelerate the sintering of the metal,which both lead to the decline of electrocatalytic performance.Herein,we construct the atomically ordered bimetallic PtBi intermetallics with clean surfaces and unique three-dimensional hollow acorn-shell-like structure(3D PtBi HASL)by a simple,low-temperature,surfactant-free one-pot synthetic approach.Benefiting from the special hollow structures,the obtained 3D PtBi HASL intermetallics expose abundant accessible active sites.Moreover,the introduction of oxophilic metal Bi can enhance adsorption of OHads,thereby significantly facilitating removal of poisoned intermediates.Density functional theory(DFT)simulations further indicate that formation of the PtBi intermetallic phase with the downshift of the Pt d-band center endows 3D Pt49.4Bi50.6 HASL intermetallics with significantly attenuated COads and enhanced OHads adsorption,bringing about the boosting electrocatalytic property.The mass activity of the 3D Pt49.4Bi50.6 HASL intermetallics for ethylene glycol oxidation reaction is as high as 24.67 A·mgPt^(−1),which is 12.98 times higher than that of commercial Pt/C(1.90 A·mgPt^(−1)).This work may inspire the design of Pt-based intermetallics as high-efficiency anode electrocatalysts for fuel cell applications. | Tingting Wan Xin Huang Sichen Li Qiuyu Li Xianlong Yang Zhenjie Sun Dong Xiang Kun Wang Peng Li Manzhou Zhu | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,5: | 0 |
| 20 | Tracking code simulation for passive harmonic cavity in the SSRF storage ring显示文摘Background A passive third harmonic cavity is planned to install in the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility(SSRF)storage ring to increase the beam lifetime.Transient beam loading effect generated by the gap between the bunch trains can suppress the bunch lengthening effect of the third harmonic cavity.Besides,the field excited in the passive operation of the harmonic cavity depends on the bunch distribution.Purpose To estimate the effect of transient beam loading,the tracking codes have been developed.Methods The tracking simulation has been performed for three uniform filling cases and a nonuniform filling case.The lengthened bunch distribution has also been included into tracking code simulation.The effect of the lengthened bunch has also been investigated.Results The uniform filling pattern with shorter bunch trains shows lower transient beam loading effect and can give much higher bunch lengthening factors compared to those of non-uniform filling case.The effect caused by the reduction of the harmonic voltage generated by lengthened bunch distribution causes a great reduction on bunch lengthening effect in uniform filling case,while the lengthening factor of non-uniform filling case does not affect much in this issue.Conclusion The tracking codes have been developed to estimate the effect of transient beam loading for three uniform filling cases and a non-uniform filling case.The larger gap in the filling pattern can cause the higher transient beam loading effect and lower bunch lengthening effect.The lengthened bunch distribution has also been included into tracking code simulation.The effect of the lengthened bunch has also been investigated.The more the bunch is lengthened,the greater reduction on bunch lengthening effect. | Thanapong Phimsen Bocheng Jiang Hongtao Hou Shunqiang Tian Manzhou Zhang Qinglei Zhang Kun Wang Zhentang Zhao | 2018 | Radiation Detection Technology and Methods2018,2,1: | 0 |
