1Hippo signaling:A hub of growth control,tumor suppression and pluripotency maintenance显示文摘The molecular mechanisms of organ size control and regulation remain one of the major unsolved mysteries of development biology.Almost a decade ago,the discovery of the Hippo signaling pathway in Drosophila shed some light on this puzzling issue.The Hippo signaling pathway is highly conserved in both invertebrates and vertebrates,and plays critical roles in animal development.It controls organ size and growth by inhibiting cell proliferation and by promoting apoptosis.Malfunction of the Hippo signaling pathway leads to cancer development and tumorigenesis.Although the core of the signaling pathway is well understood,the upstream inputs and downstream transcriptional regulation are still obscure to us.In this review,we summarize the current understanding of the mechanism and the function of the Hippo signaling pathway and compare its differences between flies and mammals.We underline the crosstalk between the Hippo signaling pathway and other signaling pathways,and the possible roles of the Hippo pathway in stem cell proliferation and self-renewal.Mengxin Yin Lei Zhang 2011Journal of Genetics and Genomics2011,38,10:13
2Immunotherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma: strategies for combinatorial intervention显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is the most frequent primary liver cancer,leading to 74.6 thousand deaths annually.The prognosis of HCC over the last few decades has remained unsatisfactory,and over half of patients with early-stage HCC develop recurrence by the time of follow-up.Immunotherapeutic intervention has emerged as a novel,effective treatment to delay the progression of aggressive tumors and suppress tumor recurrence and metastasis.However,few clinical immunotherapy trials have been conducted in HCC patients,and there is an unmet need for novel therapeutic strategies.The combination of conventional treatments with specific immunotherapeutic approaches may dramatically improve the efficacy of HCC treatment and the clinical outcome of HCC patients.In this review,we briefly summarize immunotherapy strategies and discuss new advances in combined immunotherapeutic approaches for the treatment of patients with liver cancer.Mengxin Tian Yinghong Shi Weiren Liu Jia Fan 2019Science China(Life Sciences)2019,62,9:12
3Top-emitting thermally activated delayed fluorescence organic light-emitting devices with weak light-matter coupling显示文摘Resonance interaction between a molecular transition and a confined electromagnetic field can lead to weak or strong light-matter coupling.Considering the substantial exciton–phonon coupling in thermally activated delayed fluorescence(TADF)materials,it is thus interesting to explore whether weak light-matter coupling can be used to redistribute optical density of states and to change the rate of radiative decay.Here,we demonstrate that the emission distribution of TADF emitters can be reshaped and narrowed in a top-emitting organic light-emitting device(OLED)with a weakly coupled microcavity.The Purcell effect of weak microcavity is found to be different for TADF emitters with different molecular orientations.We demonstrate that radiative rates of the TADF emitters with vertical orientation can be substantial increased in weakly coupled organic microcavity.These observations can enhance external quantum efficiencies,reduce efficiency roll-off,and improve color-purities of TADF OLEDs,especially for emitters without highly horizontal orientation.Chunxiu Zang Shihao Liu Mengxin Xu Ruifang Wang Chen Cao Zelin Zhu Jiaming Zhang Hui Wang Letian Zhang Wenfa Xie Chun-Sing Lee 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,7:7
4Understanding the lifestyles and pathogenicity mechanisms of obligate biotrophic fungi in wheat:The emerging genomics era显示文摘Obligate biotrophic fungi cause serious and widespread diseases of crop plants, but are challenging to investigate because they cannot be cultured in vitro. The two economically important groups of biotrophic fungi parasitizing wheat are the rust and powdery mildew pathogens, but their obligate biotrophic lifestyles and pathogenicity mechanisms are not well understood at the molecular level. With the advent of next generation sequencing technology, increasing numbers of pathogen genomes are becoming available. Research in plant pathology has entered a new genomics era. This review summarizes recent progress in understanding the biology and pathogenesis of biotrophic fungal pathogens attacking wheat based on pathogen genomics. We particularly focus on the three wheat rust and the powdery mildew fungi in regard to genome sequencing, avirulence gene cloning, effector discovery, and pathogenomics. 6Fabrication of single-walled carbon nanotube-based highly sensitive gas sensors显示文摘A highly sensitive single-walled carbon nanotube(SWCNT)-based ammonia(NH3) gas detector is manufactured by orderly assembling SWCNT using the dielectrophoretical(DEP) technology.Atom force microscopy(AFM) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) images revealed that SWCNTs were assembled between the microelectrodes.SWCNTs were affected by the electrophoretic force which was carried out by the related theoretical analysis in a nonuniform electric field.The SWCNT field effect transistors geometry was obtained.The electrical performance of NH3 gas sensor with the SWCNT field effect transistors geometry was tested before and after the adoption of NH3 at room temperature.Experimental results indicated that the efficient assembly of SWCNT was obtained by the applied alternating current voltage with frequency of 2 MHz and amplitude of 10 V.The SWCNTs-based gas sensor had high sensitivity to NH3,and the electrical conductance of NH3 gas sensor reduced two times after interaction with NH3.The SWCNTs surface gas molecules were removed by means of ultraviolet ray irradiation for 10 min.Hence,the fabricated NH3 gas sensor could be reversible.There is a clear evidence that the adsorption of NH3 on the SWCNT channel is easy to be realized.Our theoretical results are consistent with recent experiments.XU Ke TIAN XiaoJun WU ChengDong LIU Jian LI MengXin SUN Ying WEI FaNan 2013Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,1:4

8Electro-optic lithium niobate metasurfaces显示文摘Many applications of metasurfaces require an ability to dynamically change their properties in the time domain. Electrical tuning techniques are of particular interest, since they pave a way to on-chip integration of metasurfaces with optoelectronic devices.In this work, we propose and experimentally demonstrate an electro-optic lithium niobate(EO-LN) metasurface that shows dynamic modulations to phase retardation of transmitted light. Quasi-bound states in the continuum(QBIC) are observed from this metasurface. By applying external electric voltages, the refractive index of lithium niobate(LN) is changed by Pockels EO nonlinearity, leading to efficient phase modulations to the transmitted light around the QBIC wavelength. 10Optimization of vinegar-steaming process for Wuweizi (Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis) with response surface method显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To optimize the vinegar-steaming process of Wuweizi(Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis)using the response surface method(RSM)based on the Box-Behnken design.METHODS:A regression model was constructed with the response variables,the content of Deoxyschizandrin,and the three explanatory factors:length of steaming time,the quantity of vinegar and length of moistening time to evaluate the effects on the processing of Wuweizi(Fructus SchisandraeChinensis).RESULTS:There was a linear relationship between the content of Deoxyschizandrin and the three explanatory factors.When the steaming time was5.49 h,with 2.365 g of vinegar added and a moistening time of 4.13 h,the content of Deoxyschizandrin reached the maximum predicted value of0.1076%,and under the conditions the average content of Deoxyschizandrin was 0.1058%.CONCLUSION:The correlation coefficient of thenonlinear mathematical model was relatively high and the model matched the data well,potentially providing a method for the study of the steaming process.Yan Zhang Kangwei Li Kuan Yang Xing Fan Mengxin Zhang 2013Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,5:3

17Preparation and assistant-dyeing of formaldehyde-free amphoteric acrylic retanning agent显示文摘With the enhancement of environmental protection consciousness,concerns have been raised about non-toxic and biodegradable leather retanning agents.According to the European standard 2002/231/EC,the free formaldehyde content of leather products should be less than 150 mg/kg.As one of the retanning agents in the market,the content of free formaldehyde in the Multifunctional retanning agent(MTA)is 372.22 mg/kg and higher than the limit value.In this work,glutaraldehyde as an alternative of formaldehyde was used to modify acrylic polymer and an amphoteric acrylic retanning agent was prepared.Then it was used in retanning process,and its retanning and assistant-dyeing properties were investigated.The results showed that the free formaldehyde content of amphoteric acrylic retanning agent modified with glutaraldehyde was only 4.17mg/kg.Meanwhile,the presence of amino groups in the amphoteric acrylic retanning agent improved the dyeing properties of leather by electrostatic attraction.Compared with the leather treated with anionic acrylic retanning agent,the residual dye concentration of the dyeing effluent of the retanned leather with amphoteric acrylic retanning agent decreased from 17.4mg/L to 10.0mg/L,and the dyed leather had better resistances to friction and water-washing.In addition,the BOD 5/COD value of the wastewater after Mannich base polymer retanning was only 0.32,indicating that the retanning agent was biodegradable.Moreover,the leather retanned with amphoteric acrylic retanning agent had good thermal stability,fullness and physical and mechanical properties.Jian zhong Ma Qiwu Liu Mengxin Wu Zhenhua Tian 2021Journal of Leather Science and Engineering2021,3,1:1
18Two Inhibitors Against the 3C-Like Proteases of Swine Coronavirus and Feline Coronavirus显示文摘Coronaviruses(CoVs)are important human and animal pathogens that cause respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases.Porcine epidemic diarrhoea(PED),characterized by severe diarrhoea and vomiting in pigs,is a highly lethal disease caused by porcine epidemic diarrhoea virus(PEDV)and causes substantial losses in the swine industry worldwide.However,currently available commercial drugs have not shown great therapeutic effects.In this study,a fluorescence resonance energy transfer(FRET)-based assay was applied to screen a library containing 1,590 compounds and identified two compounds,3-(aminocarbonyl)-1-phenylpyridinium and 2,3-dichloronaphthoquinone,that target the 3C-like protease(3CL^(pro))of PEDV.These compounds are of low molecular weight(MW)and greatly inhibited the activity of this enzyme(IC_(50) values were obtained in this study).Furthermore,these compounds exhibited antiviral capacity against another member of the CoV family,feline infectious peritonitis virus(FIPV).Here,the inhibitory effects of these compounds against CoVs on Vero cells and feline kidney cells were identified(with EC_(50) values)and cell viability assays were performed.The results of putative molecular docking models indicate that these compounds,labeled compound 1 and compound 2,contact the conserved active sites(Cys144,Glu165,Gln191)of 3CL^(pro) via hydrogen bonds.These findings provide insight into the antiviral activities of compounds 1 and 2 that may facilitate future research on anti-CoV drugs.Mengxin Zhou Yutong Han Mengxia Li Gang Ye Guiqing Peng 2021Virologica Sinica2021,36,6:1
19All-optical modulation of quantum states by nonlinear metasurface显示文摘Metasurfaces have proven themselves an exotic ability to harness light at nano-scale,being important not only for classical but also for quantum optics.Dynamic manipulation of the quantum states is at the heart of quantum information processing;however,such function has been rarely realized with metasurfaces so far.Here,we report an all-optical dynamic modulation of the photonic quantum states using the nonlinear metasurface.The metasurface consists of a metallic nanostructure combined with a photoisomerizable azo layer.By tuning the plasmonic resonance through optically switching the azo molecules between their binary isomeric states,we have realized dynamic control of transmission efficiencies of orthogonally polarized photons and also the phase delay between them,thereby an entangled state was efficiently controlled.As an illustration,a quantum state distillation has been demonstrated to recover a Bell state from a non-maximally entangled one to that with fidelities higher than 98%.Our work would enrich the functions of the metasurface in the quantum world,from static to dynamic modulation,making the quantum metasurface going practical.Di Zhang Yang Chen Shengchao Gong Wei Wu Wei Cai Mengxin Ren Xifeng Ren Shuang Zhang Guangcan Guo Jingjun Xu 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,3:1
