| 1 | Characteristics of one-year observation of VOCs,NOx, and O_3 at an urban site in Wuhan, China显示文摘A continuous online observation of ozone and its precursors(NOx, VOCs) was carried out in central urban Wuhan from September 2016 to August 2017. The concentration levels of ozone,NOx, VOCs and their variations in urban Wuhan were analyzed, as well as effects of VOCs on ozone photochemical generation and the main controlling factors for ozone production. During the observation period, the average concentrations of ozone and NOx in Wuhan was 22.63 and30.14 ppbv, respectively, and the average concentration of VOCs was 32.61 ppbv(42.3% alkanes,13.0% alkenes, 10.0% aromatics, 7.3% acetylene, 9.9% OVOCs, and 10.5% halohydrocarbons).Ozone concentration was higher in spring and summer as compared with autumn and winter,wheras VOCs and NOx concentratios were lower in spring and summer but higher in autumn and winter. Aromatics and alkenes, two of VOCs species, showed the highest contributions to ozone formation potential in Wuhan(35.7% alkenes, 35.4 aromatics, 17.5% alkanes, 8.6% OVOCs,1.6% halogenated hydrocarbons, and 1.4% acetylene). Among all VOCs species, those with the highest contribution were ethylene, m-xylene, toluene, propylene and o-xylene. | 2 | Electroacupuncture at Feishu(BL13) and Zusanli(ST36) down-regulates the expression of orexins and their receptors in rats with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease显示文摘OBJECTIVE: Infl ammation and lung function decline are the main pathophysiological features of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD). Acupuncture can improve lung function in patients with COPD, but the underlying mechanisms are not well understood. Orexins(OXs), which are found in peripheral plasma, are neuropeptides that regulate respiration and their levels are related to COPD. Therefore, we hypothesized that acupuncture might alter OXs, reduce lung infl ammation and improve lung function in COPD.METHODS: COPD was induced in rats by exposure to cigarette smoke for 8 weeks and injecting with lipopolysaccharide twice. Electroacupuncture(EA) was performed at Feishu(BL13) and Zusanli(ST36) for 30 min/d for 2 weeks. Rat lung function and morphology were assessed after EA. The levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) and interleukin-1β(IL-1β) in bronchoalveolar lavage fl uid(BALF) and orexin A and B levels in the lung tissue were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. OX receptor mRNA levels and immunopositive cells were assessed with real-time polymerase chain reaction and immunohistochemical methods, respectively. The relationships among lung function, cell factors, and OX levels were analyzed by Pearson correlation analyses.RESULTS: Compared with the control group, lung function was signifi cantly decreased in the rats with COPD(P<0.05). There were obvious increases in TNF-α and IL-1β levels in BALF(P<0.05 and P<0.01, respectively), orexin A level in lung tissue(P<0.01; but not orexin B) and mRNA expressions of OX 1 type receptor(OXR1) and OX 2 type receptor(OXR2) in lung tissue(P<0.05 and P<0.01, respectively); the integrative optical densities(IODs) of both receptors were greater in the COPD group(P<0.05). For rats with COPD subjected to EA, lung function was improved(P<0.05). There were notable decreases in TNF-α and IL-1β levels(P<0.05 and <0.01, respectively) in BALF. Orexin A, but not orexin B, levels in lung tissue also decreased(P<0.01), as did mRNA expression of OX1 R and OX2 R in lung tissue(P<0.05 and P<0.01, respectively). Receptor IODs were also reduced after EA treatment(P<0.05). | 3 | Neuroprotective effects of bloodletting at Jing points combined with mild induced hypothermia in acute severe traumatic brain injury显示文摘Bloodletting at Jing points has been used to treat coma in traditional Chinese medicine. Mild induced hypothermia has also been shown to have neuroprotective effects. However, the therapeutic effects of bloodletting at Jing points and mild induced hypothermia alone are limited. Therefore, we investigated whether combined treatment might have clinical effectiveness for the treatment of acute severe traumatic brain injury. Using a rat model of traumatic brain injury, combined treatment substantially alleviated cerebral edema and bloodbrain barrier dysfunction. Furthermore, neurological function was ameliorated, and cellular necrosis and the inflammatory response were lessened. These findings suggest that the combined effects of bloodletting at Jing points(20 μL, twice a day, for 2 days) and mild induced hypothermia(6 hours) are better than their individual effects alone. | 4 | Aggravated ulcerative colitis caused by intestinal Metrnl deficiency is associated with reduced autophagy in epithelial cells显示文摘Metrnl is a newly identified secreted protein highly expressed in the intestinal epithelium.This study aimed to explore the role and mechanism of intestinal epithelial Metrnl in ulcerative colitis.Metrnl-/-(intestinal epithelial cell-specific Metrnl knockout)mice did not display any phenotypes of colitis under basal conditions.However,under administration of 3%dextran sodium sulfate(DSS)drinking water,colitis was more severe in Metrnl-/-mice than in WT mice,as indicated by comparisons of body weight loss,the presence of occult or gross blood per rectum,stool consistency,shrinkage in the colon,intestinal damage,and serum levels of inflammatory factors.DSS-induced colitis activated autophagy in the colon.This activation was partially inhibited by intestinal epithelial Metrnl deficiency,as indicated by a decrease in Beclin-1 and LC3-Ⅱ/Ⅰand an increase in p62 in DSS-treated Metrnl-/-mice compared with WT mice.These phenomena were further confirmed by observation of autophagosomes and immunofluorescence staining for LC3 in epithelial cells.The autophagy-related AMPK-mTOR-p70S6K pathway was also activated in DSS-induced colitis,and this pathway was partially blocked by intestinal epithelial Metrnl deficiency,as indicated by a decrease in AMPK phosphorylation and an increase in mTOR and p70S6K phosphorylation in DSS-treated Metrnl-/-mice compared with WT mice.Therefore,Metrnl deficiency deteriorated ulcerative colitis at least partially through inhibition of autophagy via the AMPK-mTOR-p70S6K pathway,suggesting that Metrnl is a therapeutic target for ulcerative colitis. | Sai-long Zhang Zhi-yong Li Dong-sheng Wang Tian-ying Xu Mao-bing Fan Ming-he Cheng Chao-yu Miao | 2020 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2020,41,6: | 14 |

| 12 | Prognostic role of the ABO blood types in Chinese patients with curatively resected non-small cell lung cancer:a retrospective analysis of 1601 cases at a single cancer center显示文摘Background:A positive association between the ABO blood types and survival has been suggested in several malignancies.The aim of this study was to assess the role of the ABO blood types in predicting the prognosis of Chinese patients with curatively resected non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods:We retrospectively analyzed 1601 consecutive Chinese patients who underwent curative surgery for NSCLC between January 1,2005 and December 31,2009.The relationship between the ABO blood types and survival was investigated.In addition,univariate and multivariate analyses were performed.Results:Group 1(patients with the blood type O or B) had significantly prolonged overall survival(OS) compared with group 2(patients with the blood type A or AB),with a median OS of 74.9 months versus 61.5 months[hazard ratio(HR) 0.83;95%confidence interval(CI) 0.72-0.96;P = 0.015].Additionally,group 1 had significantly longer disease-free survival(DFS;HR 0.86;95%CI 0.76-0.98;P = 0.022) and locoregional relapse-free survival(LRFS;HR 0.79;95%CI 0.64-0.98;P = 0.024) than group 2.The association was not significantly modified by other risk factors for NSCLC,including smoking status,pathologic tumor-node-metastasis stage,pT category,pN category,and chemotherapy.Conclusions:There is an association between the ABO blood types and the survival of Chinese patients with resected NSCLC.Patients with the blood type O or B had significantly prolonged OS,DFS,and LRFS compared with those with the blood type A or AB. | Ning Li Miao Xu Chao-Feng Li Wei Ou Bao-Xiao Wang Song-Liang Zhang Peng-Fei Xu Cheng Yuan Qun-Ai Huang Si-Yu Wang | 2015 | Chinese Journal of Cancer2015,34,10: | 9 |
| 13 | Contrastive Analysis of Cooling Performance between a High-level Water Col-lecting Cooling Tower and a Typical Cooling Tower显示文摘A three-dimensional(3D) numerical model is established and validated for cooling performance optimization between a high-level water collecting natural draft wet cooling tower(HNDWCT) and a usual natural draft wet cooling tower(UNDWCT) under the actual operation condition at Wanzhou power plant, Chongqing, China. User defined functions(UDFs) of source terms are composed and loaded into the spray, fill and rain zones. Considering the conditions of impact on three kinds of corrugated fills(Double-oblique wave, Two-way wave and S wave) and four kinds of fill height(1.25 m, 1.5 m, 1.75 m and 2 m), numerical simulation of cooling performance are analysed. The results demonstrate that the S wave has the highest cooling efficiency in three fills for both towers, indicating that fill characteristics are crucial to cooling performance. Moreover, the cooling performance of the HNDWCT is far superior to that of the UNDWCT with fill height increases of 1.75 m and above, because the air mass flow rate in the fill zone of the HNDWCT improves more than that in the UNDWCT, as a result of the rain zone resistance declining sharply for the HNDWCT. In addition, the mass and heat transfer capacity of the HNDWCT is better in the tower centre zone than in the outer zone near the tower wall under a uniform fill layout. This behaviour is inverted for the UNDWCT, perhaps because the high-level collection devices play the role of flow guiding in the inner zone. | 14 | Meta-analysis of the efficacy of probiotics in Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy显示文摘AIM:To evaluate the role of probiotics in the standard triple Helicobacter pylori therapy.METHODS:In this meta-analysis,we investigated the efficacy of probiotics in a standard triple H.pylori therapy in adults.Searches were mainly conducted in MEDLINE/Pub Med,EMBASE,and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials.Fourteen studies met our criteria,and the quality of these studies was assessedusing the Jadad scale.We used STATA version 12.0to extract data and to calculate the odds ratios(ORs),which are presented with the corresponding 95%confidence intervals(CIs).The data are presented as forest plots.RESULTS:The pooled ORs for the eradication rates calculated by intention-to-treat analysis and perprotocol analysis in the probiotic group vs the control group were 1.67(95%CI:1.38-2.02)and 1.68(95%CI:1.35-2.08),respectively,using the fixed-effects model.The sensitivity of the Asian studies was greater than that of the Caucasian studies(Asian:OR=1.78,95%CI:1.40-2.26;Caucasian:OR=1.48,95%CI:1.06-2.05).The pooled OR for the incidence of total adverse effects was significantly lower in the probiotic group(OR=0.49,95%CI:0.26-0.94),using the random effects model,with significant heterogeneity(I2=85.7%).The incidence of diarrhea was significantly reduced in the probiotic group(OR=0.21,95%CI:0.06-0.74),whereas the incidence of taste disorders,metallic taste,vomiting,nausea,and epigastric pain did not differ significantly between the probiotic group and the control group.CONCLUSION:Supplementary probiotic preparations during standard triple H.pylori therapy may improve the eradication rate,particularly in Asian patients,and the incidence of total adverse effects. | Rong Zhu Kan Chen Yuan-Yuan Zheng Hua-Wei Zhang Jun-Shan Wang Yu-Jing Xia Wei-Qi Dai Fan Wang Miao Shen Ping Cheng Yan Zhang Cheng-Fen Wang Jing Yang Jing-Jing Li Jie Lu Ying-Qun Zhou Chuan-Yong Guo | 2014 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,47: | 9 |

| 17 | Mechanisms underlying attenuation of apoptosis of cortical neurons in the hypoxic brain by flavonoids from the stems and leaves of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi显示文摘Flavonoids from the stems and leaves of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, an antioxidant, markedly improve memory impairments and neuronal injuries. In the present study, primary cortical neurons of rats were exposed to potassium cyanide to establish a model of in vitro neural cell apoptosis. Inhibition of apoptosis by flavonoids from the stems and leaves of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi at concentrations of 18.98, 37.36, and 75.92 μg/mL was detected using this model. These flavonoids dramatically increased cell survival, inhibited cell apoptosis and excessive production of malondialdehyde, and increased the activities of superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, and Na+-K+-ATPase in primary cortical neurons exposed to potassium cyanide. The flavonoids from the stems and leaves of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi were originally found to have a polyhydric structure and to protect against cerebral hypoxia in in vitro and in vivo models, including hypoxia induced by potassium cyanide or cerebral ischemia. | 20 | Work-family conflict and job burn-out among Chinese doctors:the mediating role of coping styles显示文摘Background Burn-out among doctors threatens their own health, and that of their patients. To identify risk factors of the doctor burn-out is vital to improving their health and increasing the quality of healthcare services.This study aims to explore the relationship between workfamily conflict(WFC) and burn-out among Chinese doctors and the mediating role of coping styles in this relationship.Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted in China, with a questionnaire packet which consisted of the Chinese Maslach Burnout Inventory(CMBI), WFC Scale and the Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ). A total of 2530 doctors participated in the survey. Correlation analysis was performed to explore the relationship between CMBI, WFC and SCSQ scores. A linear regression model was set to determine the mediating role of coping styles on the relationship between WFC and burn-out.Results Doctors who had higher scores on work interfering with family conflict, reported more emotional exhaustion(r=0.514, P<0.001) and had a sense of accomplishment(r=-0.149, P<0.001). Simultaneously,family interfering with work(FIW) was positively associated with all dimensions of burn-out(r=0.213,0.504,0.088,respectively, P<0.001). Coping styles had partial, complete and even mediating effects on the relationship between WFC and burn-out among Chinese doctors.Conclusions WFC was correlated with burn-out, and coping style was a mediator in this relationship among Chinese doctors.
