1Anisotropic coding metamaterials and their powerful manipulation of differently polarized terahertz waves显示文摘Metamaterials based on effective media can be used to produce a number of unusual physical properties(for example,negative refraction and invisibility cloaking)because they can be tailored with effective medium parameters that do not occur in nature.Recently,the use of coding metamaterials has been suggested for the control of electromagnetic waves through the design of coding sequences using digital elements‘0’and‘1,'which possess opposite phase responses.Here we propose the concept of an anisotropic coding metamaterial in which the coding behaviors in different directions are dependent on the polarization status of the electromagnetic waves.We experimentally demonstrate an ultrathin and flexible polarization-controlled anisotropic coding metasurface that functions in the terahertz regime using specially designed coding elements.By encoding the elements with elaborately designed coding sequences(both 1-bit and 2-bit sequences),the x-and y-polarized waves can be anomalously reflected or independently diffused in three dimensions.The simulated far-field scattering patterns and near-field distributions are presented to illustrate the dual-functional performance of the encoded metasurface,and the results are consistent with the measured results.We further demonstrate the ability of the anisotropic coding metasurfaces to generate a beam splitter and realize simultaneous anomalous reflections and polarization conversions,thus providing powerful control of differently polarized electromagnetic waves.The proposed method enables versatile beam behaviors under orthogonal polarizations using a single metasurface and has the potential for use in the development of interesting terahertz devices.Shuo Liu Tie Jun Cui Quan Xu Di Bao Liangliang Du Xiang Wan Wen Xuan Tang Chunmei Ouyang Xiao Yang Zhou Hao Yuan Hui Feng Ma Wei Xiang Jiang Jiaguang Han Weili Zhang Qiang Cheng 2016Light(Science & Applications)2016,5,1:36
2Formation of the Permian basalts and implications of geochemical tracing for paleo-tectonic setting and regional tectonic background in the Turpan-Hami and Santanghu basins,Xinjiang显示文摘The Turpan-Hami and Santanghu basins are the late Paleozoic-Mesozoic-Cenozoic re-worked intracontinental basins that superposed on the folded basement of the Paleozoic orogenic belt. 40Ar/39Ar geochronological study of the basalts developed in the basins reveals that the formation period is Permain (293—266 Ma). From geochemical comparison of the basalts, the Santanghu basalts exhibit a strong depletion in Nb and Ta, and a selective enrichment in HFSE, reflecting that the source region is influenced by the subducted components related to subduction of the ancient oceanic crust and characterized with “lagged arc volcanic rocks”. In contrast, the Turpan-Hami basalts show a slight depletion in Nb and Ta, high Th/Ta ratio, similar to the basalts formed in an intracontinental ex-tensional zone or in an initial rift. Combined with the formation period of the ophiolite and ophiolite mélange zones and regional magmatic activities occurring on the post-orogenic extensional back-ground in northern Xinjiang, it can be inferred from these geochemical characteristics that the tectonic background for forming the Turpan-Hami and Santanghu basins is closely related to the regional ex-tension after the continent-continent collisional orogeny. The basalts of the two basins came from different sources on the post-orogenic extensional background of the similar basin-forming dynamics. 3Geo-engineered buffer capacity of two-layered absorbing system under the impact of rock avalanches based on Discrete Element Method显示文摘Many rock avalanches were triggered by the Wenchuan earthquake on May 12,2008 in southwest China.Protection galleries covered with a single soil layer are usually used to protect against rockfall.Since one-layer protection galleries do not have sufficient buffer capacity,a two-layered absorbing system has been designed.This study aims to find whether an expanded poly-styrol(EPS) cushion,which is used in the soil-covered protection galleries for shock absorption,could be positioned under dynamic loadings.The dynamic impacts of the two-layered absorbing system under the conditions ofrock avalanches are numerically simulated through a 2D discrete element method.By selecting reasonable parameters,a series of numerical experiments were conducted to find the best combination for the twolayered absorbing system.The values of the EPS layer area as a percentage of the total area were set as 0%(S1),22%(S2),and 70%(S3).22% of the area of the EPS layer was found to be a reasonable value,and experiments were conducted to find the best position of the EPS layer in the two-layered absorbing system.The numerical results yield useful conclusions regarding the interaction between the impacting avalanches and the two-layered absorbing system.The soil layer can absorb the shock energy effectively and S2(0.4-m thick EPS cushion covered with soillayer) is the most efficient combination,which can reduce the impact force,compared with the other combinations.BI Yu-zhang HE Si-ming LI Xin-po WU Yong XU Qiang OUYANG Chao-jun SU Li-Jun WANG Hao 2016Journal of Mountain Science2016,13,5:14
4Characteristics of the lunar samples returned by the Chang'E-5 mission显示文摘Forty-five years after the Apollo and Luna missions returned lunar samples,China's Chang’E-5(CE-5)mission collected new samples from the mid-latitude region in the northeastern Oceanus Procellarum of the Moon.Our study shows that 95%of CE-5 lunar soil sizes are found to be within the range of 1.40-9.35μm,while 95%of the soils by mass are within the size range of 4.84-432.27μm.The bulk density,true density and specific surface area of CE-5 soils are 1.2387 g/cm^(3),3.1952 g/cm^(3) and 0.56 m^(2)/g,respectively.Fragments from the CE-5 regolith are classified into igneous clasts(mostly basalt),agglutinate and glass.A few breccias were also found.The minerals and compositions of CE-5 soils are consistent with mare basalts and can be classified as low-Ti/low-Al/low-K type with lower rare-earth-element contents than materials rich in potassium,rare earth element and phosphorus.CE-5 soils have high FeO and low Mg index,which could represent a new class of basalt.Chunlai Li Hao Hu Meng-Fei Yang Zhao-Yu Pei Qin Zhou Xin Ren Bin Liu Dawei Liu Xingguo Zeng Guangliang Zhang Hongbo Zhang Jianjun Liu Qiong Wang Xiangjin Deng Caijin Xiao Yonggang Yao Dingshuai Xue Wei Zuo Yan Su Weibin Wen Ziyuan Ouyang 2022National Science Review2022,9,2:12

6Vehicle survival patterns in China显示文摘The vehicle survival pattern describes the process that the survival ratio of vehicles decreases with the growth of vehicle age. Vehicle average life span and vehicle scrappage intensity are the key features of vehicle survival patterns and are important for the projection of China's vehicle scrappage and ownership. In this study, we modeled the vehicle survival patterns of nine classifications of vehicles in China by employing the Weibull distribution, and obtained the vehicle survival ratio functions. It is estimated that the average life spans of private passenger vehicles, government and business vehicles, non-operating buses, heavy duty, medium duty and light duty trucks are 14.5, 13.1, 11.5, 12.8, 10.1, and 8 years, respectively. The scrappage intensities of these vehicles are similar. Average life spans of taxis, transit buses and non-transit operating buses are 5, 9, and 5.5 years with the pattern of mandatory scrappage. 7Advances in Cadaverine Bacterial Production and Its Applications显示文摘本文探讨了微波加热在工业锡粉熔化中的应用。对离心雾化法制备的金属锡粉的形貌和粒径进行了表征。锡粉颗粒均匀且呈球形,90%的颗粒粒径为38~75μm。通过介电性能测试,研究了锡粉的微波吸收特性。微波的穿透作用对锡粉具有良好的整体加热性能。温度高于150℃时,微波加热锡粉的主要机制是电导损耗。设计开发了20 k W微波熔炼锡合金装备,并将其应用于产业化。该装备的加热速率与常规方法相比能提高10倍以上,缩短了熔炼工艺。研究结果表明,微波加热加快了升温速率,缩短了熔炼时间,锡回收率为97.79%,渣量仅为1.65%,其他损失低于0.56%;单位能耗仅为0.17 k W·h·kg^(–1),远低于传统方法所需要的能量。因此微波冶炼提高了加热效率,降低了能耗。Weichao Ma Kequan Chen Yan Li Ning Hao Xin Wang Pingkai Ouyang 2017Engineering2017,3,3:7
8Garlic-derived compound S-allylmercaptocysteine inhibits hepatocarcinogenesis through targeting LRP6/Wnt pathway显示文摘Whether and how garlic-derived S-allylmercaptocysteine(SAMC) inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) is largely unknown. In the current study, the role of low-density lipoprotein receptor(LDLR)-related protein 6(LRP6) in HCC progression and the anti-HCC mechanism of SAMC was examined in clinical sample, cell model and xenograft/orthotopic mouse models. We demonstrated that SAMC inhibited cell proliferation and tumorigenesis, while induced apoptosis of human HCC cells without influencing normal hepatocytes. SAMC directly interacted with Wnt-pathway co-receptor LRP6 on the cell membrane. LRP6 was frequently over-expressed in the tumor tissue of human HCC patients(66.7% of 48 patients) and its overexpression only correlated with the over-expression of β-catenin, but not with age, gender, tumor size, stage and metastasis. Deficiency or over-expression of LRP6 in hepatoma cells could partly mimic or counteract the anti-tumor properties of SAMC, respectively. In vivo administration of SAMC significantly suppressed the growth of Huh-7 xenograft/orthotopic HCC tumor without causing undesirable side effects. In addition, stable down-regulation of LRP6 in Huh-7 facilitated the anti-HCC effects of SAMC. In conclusion, LRP6 can be a potential therapeutic target of HCC. 9Novel SNP markers on ginsenosides biosynthesis functional gene for authentication of ginseng herbs and commercial products显示文摘Panax ginseng and Panax quinquefolius have similar bioactive components and morphological characteristics, but they are known to have different medicinal values, high-sensitive and accurate method is expected to identify the sources of ginseng products and evaluate the quality, but with a huge challenge. Our established UHPLC-TOF/MS method coupled with orthogonal partial least squares discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA) model based on 18 ginsenosides was applied to discriminate the sources of raw medicinal materials in ginseng products, and nested PCR strategy was used to discover 6 novel single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)sites in functional dammarenediol synthase(DS) gene for genetic authentication of P. ginseng and P. quinquefolius for the first time.OPLS-DA model could identify the sources of raw ginseng materials are real or not. SNP markers were applied to identify ginseng fresh samples as well as commercial products, and proved to be successful. This established molecular method can tell exact source information of adulterants, and it was highly sensitive and specific even when total DNA amount was only 0.1 ng and the adulteration was as low as 1%. 10Discovery of differential sequences for improving breeding and yield of cultivated Ophiocordyceps sinensis through ITS sequencing and phylogenetic analysis显示文摘To accelerate the breeding process of cultivated Ophiocordyceps sinensis and increase its yield,it is important to identify molecular fingerprint of dominant O.sinensis.In the present study,we collected 3 batches of industrially cultivated O.sinensis product with higher yield than the others and compared their internal transcribed spacer(ITS)sequences with the wild and the reported.The ITS sequence was obtained by bidirectional sequencing and analyzed with molecular systematics as a DNA barcode for rapid and accurate identification of wild and cultivated O.sinensis collected.The ITS sequences of O.sinensis with detailed collection loci on NCBI were downloaded to construct a phylogenetic tree together with the sequences obtained from the present study by using neighbor-joining method based on their evolution relationship.The information on collection loci was analyzed with ArcGIS 10.2 to demonstrate the geographic distribution of these samples and thus to determine the origin of the dominant samples.The results showed that all wild and cultivated samples were identified as O.sinensis and all sequences were divided into seven phylogenetic groups in the tree.Those groups were precisely distributed on the map and the process of their system evolution was clearly presented.The three cultivated samples were clustered into two dominant groups,showing the correlation between the industrially cultivated samples and the dominant wild samples,which can provide references for its optimized breeding in the future.CHENG Qi-Qing CHENG Chun-Song OUYANG Yue LAO Chi-Chou CUI Hao XIAN Yu JIANG Zhi-Hong LI Wen-Jia ZHOU Hua 2018Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2018,16,10:4
11Coating highly lithiophilic Zn on Cu foil for high-performance lithium metal batteries显示文摘Lithium metal batteries(LMBs) are ideal candidates for next-generation high energy density energy storage systems.However,uncontrollable growth of Li dendrites due to uneven Li plating has restricted the practical application of the Li metal anode.Here,we develop a highly lithiophilic Zn coating on commercial Cu foil as a substrate for Li metal anode to settle above issues.We find that the lithiophilic nature of Zn can facilitate homogeneous nucleation and deposition of Li on Cu current collector surface.In addition,the uniform Zn coating can not only decrease the nucleation overpotential but also regulate the electric field distribution.Benefiting from the coated Zn layer,the designed anode for half-cell and full-cell tests shows better electrochemical performances compared with the untreated Cu foil.This work provides a simple and effective way to enable a promising dendrite-free lithium metal anode for large-scale industrial applications.Yun-Xiong Song Wei-Yi Lu Yue-Jiao Chen Hao Yang Chen Wu Wei-Feng Wei Li-Bao Chen Xiao-Ping Ouyang 2022Rare Metals2022,41,4:4
12Saturated absorption of different layered Bi_2Se_3 films in the resonance zone显示文摘Here, we used the micro P-scan method to investigate the saturated absorption(SA) of different layered Bi_2Se_3 continuous films. Through resonance excitation, first, we studied the influence of the second surface state(SS) on SA. The second SS resonance excitation(~2.07 e V) resulted in a free carrier cross section that was 4 orders of magnitude larger than usual. At the same time, we found that the fast relaxation process of the massless Dirac electrons is much shorter than that of electrons in bulk states. Moreover, the second SS excitation resonance reduced the saturation intensity. Second, we studied the effect of the thickness on the SA properties of materials.The results showed that the saturation intensity was positively correlated to the thickness, the same as the modulation depth, and the thicker the Bi_2Se_3 film was, the less the second SS would influence it. 13Enhancements in the Mechanical Stretchability and Thermoelectric Properties of PEDOT:PSS for Flexible Electronics Applications显示文摘CONSPECTUS:Intrinsically conducting polymers can have important application in flexible electronic devices and systems owing to their high mechanical flexibility.Among them,poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):-polystyrenesulfonate(PEDOT:PSS)is particularly important,because it can be dispersed in water or polar organic solvents while most of conducting polymers are intractable and insoluble.In addition,PEDOT:PSS can have high transparency in the visible range,excellent thermal stability,and high conductivity.Thus,it can have important applications in many areas,such as in electronic devices,peculiarly optoelectronic devices like light-emitting diodes(LEDs),solar cells and photodetectors,and energy storage devices including batteries and supercapacitors.Although PEDOT:PSS can have high conductivity and excellent biocompatibility,its stretchability is limited.Stretchable conductors are crucial for stretchable electronic systems.The stretchability of PEDOT:PSS can be enhanced by blending with a soft polymer or elastomer or plasticization.The blends of PEDOT:PSS with waterborne polyurethane(WPU)can have a conductivity of∼80 S/cm and an elongation at break of>30%.We demonstrated their applications as stretchable electromagnetic shielding,stretchable thermotherapy,and compliant electrodes of soft robots.We also found that D-sorbitol that is biocompatible and a solid at room temperature can serve as a plasticizer of PEDOT:PSS.It can enhance the conductivity of PEDOT:PSS to>1000 S/cm and the elongation at break to>60%.The plasticization mechanism is related to the hydrogen bond formation between D-sorbitol and PSSH of PEDOT:PSS.PEDOT:PSS with high thermoelectric properties can be used for flexible thermoelectric generators.It should have both high conductivity and a high Seebeck coefficient.But conductivity and the Seebeck coefficient are interdependent.The thermoelectric properties of PEDOT:PSS can be enhanced by dedoping or energy filtering.PEDOT:PSS with a power factor of 332μW/(m K^2)can be attained through the successive treatments with acid and base,because the acid treatment can enhance its conductivity and the base treatment can enhance its Seebeck coefficient by dedoping PEDOT:PSS.Dedoping PEDOT:PSS by bases is more effective in enhancing the Seebeck coefficient than dedoping by reducing agents.Coating a layer of an ionic liquid on the acid-then-base treated PEDOT:PSS can enhance the Seebeck coefficient up to 70μV/K,power factor to 750μW/(m K2),and figure of merit(ZT)to 0.75.The ZT value is comparable to the best inorganic thermoelectric materials at room temperature.The enhancement in the Seebeck coefficient by ionic liquids is ascribed to the energy filtering owing to the ion accumulations at the two ends of the ionic liquid layer under a temperature gradient.This can be obtained by coating a layer of polyelectrolyte as well.Moreover,coating a layer of Rhodamine 101 that is a zwitterion with a high intrinsic dipole moment can also enhance the Seebeck coefficient of PEDOT:PSS.Because the Seebeck coefficient enhancement is consistent with the work function decrease of PEDOT:PSS,we proposed the surface energy filtering mechanism for the Rhodamine 101 effect.The intrinsic dipole moment and interfacial dipole moment of Rhodamine 101 can block the charge carriers with low energy and thus increase the Seebeck coefficient of PEDOT:PSS.Hao He Jianyong Ouyang 2020Accounts of Materials Research2020,1,2:3
14AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON TEMPORAL AND SPATIAL PROCESSESOF WANDERING-BRAIDED RIAVER CHANNEL EVOLUTION显示文摘Based upon the experimental study on bed-making of wandering-braided river channel with an approach of process-response model, both spatial and temporal processes in the channel evolution are analyzed. The spatial and temporal processes can substitute for each other in the river channel evolution by analyzing the horizontal processes and the variation of variables of river channel system. Thus, the existence of ergodic hypothesis is newly and firmly rectified in the laboratory. 15Ultrasensitive polarization-dependent terahertz modulation in hybrid perovskites plasmoninduced transparency devices显示文摘Active control of metamaterial properties with high tunability of both resonant intensity and frequency is essential for advanced terahertz(THz) applications, ranging from spectroscopy and sensing to communications.Among varied metamaterials, plasmon-induced transparency(PIT) has enabled active control with giant sensitivity by embedding semiconducting materials. However, there is still a stringent challenge to achieve dynamic responses in both intensity and frequency modulation. Here, an anisotropic THz active metamaterial device with an ultrasensitive modulation feature is proposed and experimentally studied. A radiative-radiative-coupled PIT system is established, with a frequency shift of 0.26 THz in its sharp transparent windows by polarization rotation. Enabled by high charge-carrier mobility and longer diffusion lengths, we utilize a straightforwardly spincoated MAPbI3 film acting as a photoactive medium to endow the device with high sensitivity and ultrafast speed.When the device is pumped by an ultralow laser fluence, the PIT transmission windows at 0.86 and 1.12 THz demonstrate a significant reduction for two polarizations, respectively, with a full recovery time of 561 ps. In addition, we numerically prove the validity that the investigated resonator structure is sensitive to the optically induced conductivity. 16Dissipative particle dynamics thermostat: a novel thermostat for molecular dynamics simulation of liquid crystals with Gay–Berne potential显示文摘The Gay–Berne(GB) model has been proved to be highly successful in the simulation of liquid crystal phases via both molecular dynamics(MD) and nonequilibrium molecular dynamics(NEMD). However, the conventional thermostats used in the simulations of GB systems, such as Nosé–Hoover and Langevin thermostats, have serious shortcomings especially in NEMD simulations. Recently, dissipative particle dynamics(DPD) has established itself as a useful thermostat for soft matter simulations, whereas the application of DPD thermostat in(NE)MD simulations is limited to the spherically isotropic potential models, such as the Lennard–Jones model. Considering the virtues of the DPD thermostat, that is, local, momentum conserved, and Galilean invariant, we extend the DPD thermostat to the non-spherical GB model. It is interesting to find that the translational DPD and rotational DPD thermostats can be used in the GB system independently and both can achieve the thermostatting effects. Also, we compared the performance of the DPD thermostat with other commonly used thermostats in NEMD simulations by investigating the streaming velocity profiles and the dynamics of phase separation in a typical but simple binary GB mixture under shear field. It is revealed that the known virtues of DPD thermostats, such as Galilean invariant, shear velocity profile-unbiased, and unscreened hydrodynamic interactions, are still intact when applying to GB systems. 17Recent Progress of Electrode Materials for Flexible Perovskite Solar Cells显示文摘Flexible perovskite solar cells(FPSCs) have attracted enormous interest in wearable and portable electronics due to their high power-per-weight and low cost. Flexible and efficient perovskite solar cells require the development of flexible electrodes compatible with the optoelectronic properties of perovskite. In this review, the recent progress of flexible electrodes used in FPSCs is comprehensively reviewed. The major features of flexible transparent electrodes, including transparent conductive oxides, conductive polymer, carbon nanomaterials and nanostructured metallic materials are systematically compared. And the corresponding modification strategies and device performance are summarized. Moreover, flexible opaque electrodes including metal films, opaque carbon materials and metal foils are critically assessed. 18Spherical contact mechanical analysis of roller cone drill bits journal bearing显示文摘Fang contact model is introduced to analyze stress of the spherical fixed ring journal bearing.Developed calculation programs in the MATLAB software which are utilized to calculate the contact characteristics of roller cone drill bits spherical fixed ring journal bearing.In addition,effects of external load,radius clearance values,and material parameter on the mechanics performance were investigated.The results show that the value of external load has a direct pronounced effect on the contact characteristics of journal bearing.There is a significant positive correlation between contact pressure and external load,radius clearance value,and the Young's modulus of material.However,there is an evident negative correlation between contact radius of journal bearing and radius clearance value,and the Young's modulus of material.The smaller radius clearance value of journal bearing is,the more centralized contact region will be,so the corresponding contact pressure will be higher.From the perspective of reducing friction and wear,we need select the materials which have high strength and good toughness.Not only might this can improve the wear resistance,it also effectively decreases the contact pressure.In this case,we can prolong the service life of roller cone drill bits journal bearing.Wei He Yang Chen Junchao He Weiling Xiong Tong Tang Hao OuYang 2016Petroleum2016,2,2:2
19AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON BEDMAKING AND CATASTROPHIC PROCESSES IN ISLAND BRAIDED CHANNEL显示文摘In this paper 4 Principles for developing island braided channels are discussed. Based on those principles an island braided bedmaking experiment is designed by a process-response model with 12 steps and the Lower Yangtze River as an example to be taken. The bedmaking experiment takes 10 runs and 180 running hours and channel changes are described. The paper also analyses controlling factors on island braided channel hydraulic geometries.
