1Multi-modal radiomics model to predict treatment response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy for locally advanced rectal cancer显示文摘BACKGROUND Neoadjuvant chemotherapy is currently recommended as preoperative treatment for locally advanced rectal cancer(LARC);however,evaluation of treatment response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy is still challenging.AIM To create a multi-modal radiomics model to assess therapeutic response after neoadjuvant chemotherapy for LARC.METHODS This retrospective study consecutively included 118 patients with LARC who underwent both computed tomography(CT)and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)before neoadjuvant chemotherapy between October 2016 and June 2019.Histopathological findings were used as the reference standard for pathological response.Patients were randomly divided into a training set(n=70)and a validation set(n=48).The performance of different models based on CT and MRI,including apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC),dynamic contrast enhanced T1 images(DCE-T1),high resolution T2-weighted imaging(HR-T2WI),and imaging features,was assessed by using the receiver operating characteristic curve analysis.This was demonstrated as area under the curve(AUC)and accuracy(ACC).Calibration plots with Hosmer-Lemeshow tests were used to investigate the agreement and performance characteristics of the nomogram.RESULTS Eighty out of 118 patients(68%)achieved a pathological response.For an individual radiomics model,HR-T2WI performed better(AUC=0.859,ACC=0.896)than CT(AUC=0.766,ACC=0.792),DCE-T1(AUC=0.812,ACC=0.854),and ADC(AUC=0.828,ACC=0.833)in the validation set.The imaging performance for extramural venous invasion detection was relatively low in both the training(AUC=0.73,ACC=0.714)and validation(AUC=0.578,ACC=0.583)sets.The multi-modal radiomics model reached an AUC of 0.925 and ACC of 0.886 in the training set,and an AUC of 0.93 and ACC of 0.875 in the validation set.For the clinical radiomics nomogram,good agreement was found between the nomogram prediction and actual observation.CONCLUSION A multi-modal nomogram using traditional imaging features and radiomics of preoperative CT and MRI adds accuracy to the prediction of treatment outcome,and thus contributes to the personalized selection of neoadjuvant chemotherapy for LARC.Zheng-Yan Li Xiao-Dong Wang Mou Li Xi-Jiao Liu Zheng Ye Bin Song Fang Yuan Yuan Yuan Chun-Chao Xia Xin Zhang Qian Li 2020World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,19:7
2Modeling the impact of the viaduct on particles dispersion from vehicle exhaust in street canyons显示文摘In this paper,the impact of the viaduct on flow and traffic exhausting particles dispersion within urban street canyons was nu-merically simulated using a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) model.Two-dimensional flow and dispersion of particles from traffic exhausts were modeled using the standard k-? turbulence model.The street canyons with a viaduct at different widths and different heights above the ground are simulated.The results show that the airflow in street canyon is evidently in-fluenced by the viaduct:The position of the main vortex center is changed,especially there are two strong vortexes when the viaduct is placed at 10 m height above the ground.It is found based on the study of the particles number concentrations(PNCs) that the viaduct may mitigate the pollution level in the street canyon sometimes.The impact of the viaduct width on PNCs is stronger than that of the height.The study of PNDs reveals that the mean PNCs at the wall of upwind building increase when a viaduct is placed in street canyon.In addition,it is found based on the study of mean particles residence time(PRT) that the removal of the particles strongly correlates to the mean PNCs.The results indicate that the viaduct is an important factor to in-fluence the flow patterns and particles dispersion in street canyons.ZHANG ChuanFu WEN Mou ZENG JianRong ZHANG GuiLin FANG HaiPing LI Yan 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,1:5
3Recent tree growth decline unprecedented over the last four centuries in a Tibetan juniper forest显示文摘Forest structure and function are subject to risks of growth declines from intensified drought and frequent extreme events related to climate warming.Knowledge of tree growth declines will help anticipate future responses of forests to climate change.In this study,we investigated tree growth declines over the last four centuries in a juniper forest on the eastern Tibetan Plateau.By analyzing the radial growth trajectories of individual trees,we identified two events of intense growth decline,one in 1817–1830 and the other in 1969–1999 over the past four centuries.The intensity of the recent decline was unprecedented in the period under study.Ring-width chronology showed a positive correlation with self-calibrating Palmer Drought Severity Indices and a negative correlation with mean monthly temperatures in May and June.The recent intensified growth decline may have been due to temperatureinduced frequent droughts in the study area.Our findings suggest that trees in this juniper forest may face a higher risk of growth decline and even mortality under continued climate warming.Yu-Mei Mou Ouya Fang Xuehan Cheng Hongyan Qiu 2019Journal of Forestry Research2019,30,4:5
4CORONARY ANGIOGRAPHY WITH DUAL SOURCE COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY:INITIAL EXPERIENCE显示文摘Objective To explore the scan technique and image quality of coronary angiography with dual source computed tomography(CT) without oral metoprolol preparation.Methods Plain and enhanced dual source CT coronary angiography without oral metoprolol preparation was prospectively performed in 600 patients.Calcium scoring with plain scan images as well as multi-planar reconstruction(MPR),maximum intensity projection(MIP),and volume rendering technique(VRT) reconstruction with enhanced scan images were performed in all cases.The scan technique and post-reconstruction experience was summarized.The image quality was classified as 1 to 4 points,and coronary segments classified according to the American Heart Association standards were evaluated.Results The average calcium score of the 600 cases was 213.6±298.7(0-3 216.5).The average heart rate of the enhanced scan was 82.1±16.2(47-139) bpm.The post-reconstruction methods with which coronary segments could be shown as best as possible consisted of single phase reconstruction method,two or more phases supplemented method,and electrocardiogram editing method.Altogether 8 457 coronary segments were evaluated,among which 97.2% were evaluated as point 1,1.7% point 2,0.5% point 3,and 0.6% point 4.The coronary segments in 261 cases were completely normal,while 360 segments were diagnosed with <50% stenosis and 625 segments with ≥50% stenosis.Conclusions Excellent coronary artery image can be obtained with dual source CT in patients with any heart rate without oral metoprolol preparation.Heart rate is not a major source of the artifact,coronary segments can be well shown with single or multiple-phase reconstruction method.Zhu-hua Zhang Zheng-yu Jin Shu-yang Zhang Song-bai Lin Dong-jing Li Ling-yan Kong Yi-ning Wang Lan Song Yun Wang Wen-min Zhao Wen-bin Mou Li-ren Zhang Wen-ling Zhu Qi Miao Qi Fang 2007Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2007,22,4:4
5Surface modification of polyolefin separators for lithium ion batteries to reduce thermal shrinkage without thickness increase显示文摘Surface chemical modification of polyolefin separators for lithium ion batteries is attempted to reduce the thermal shrinkage, which is important for the battery energy density. In this study, we grafted organic/inorganic hybrid crosslinked networks on the separators, simply by grafting polymerization and condensation reaction. The considerable silicon-oxygen crosslinked heat-resistance networks are responsible for the reduced thermal shrinkage. The strong chemical bonds between networks and separators promise enough mechanical support even at high temperature. The shrinkage at 150 C for 30 min in the mechanical direction was 38.6% and 4.6% for the pristine and present graft-modified separators, respectively. Meanwhile, the grafting organic-inorganic hybrid crosslink networks mainly occupied part of void in the internal pores of the separators, so the thicknesses of the graft-modified separators were similar with the pristine one. 6Overexpressing dominant-negative FGFR2-IIIb impedes lung branching morphogenesis in pigs显示文摘Genetic studies with mouse models have shown that fibroblast growth factor receptor 2-IIIb(FGFR2-IIIb)plays crucial roles in lung development and differentiation. To evaluate the effect of FGFR2-IIIb in pig lung development, we employed somatic cell nuclear transfer(SCNT) technology to generate transgenic pig fetuses overexpressing the transmembrane(dn FGFR2-IIIb-Tm) and soluble(dn FGFR2-IIIb-HFc) forms of the dominant-negative human FGFR2-IIIb driven by the human surfactant protein C(SP-C) promoter,which was specifically expressed in lung epithelia. Eight dn FGFR2-IIIb-Tm transgenic and twelve dn FGFR2-IIIb-HFc transgenic pig fetuses were collected from three and two recipient sows, respectively.Repression of FGFR2-IIIb in lung epithelia resulted in smaller lobes and retardation of alveolarization in both forms of dn FGFR2-IIIb transgenic fetuses. Moreover, the dn FGFR2-IIIb-HFc transgenic ones showed more deterioration in lung development. Our results demonstrate that disruption of FGFR2-IIIb signaling in the epithelium impedes normal branching and alveolarization in pig lungs, which is less severe than the results observed in transgenic mice.
