| 1 | Stem cell-based therapy for human diseases显示文摘Recent advancements in stem cell technology open a new door for patients suffering from diseases and disorders that have yet to be treated.Stem cell-based therapy,including human pluripotent stem cells(hPsCs)and multipotent mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs),has recently emerged as a key player in regenerative medicine.hPSCs are defined as self-renewable cell types conferring the ability to differentiate into various cellular phenotypes of the human body,including three germ layers.MsCs are multipotent progenitor cells possessing self-renewal ability(limited in vitro)and differentiation potential into mesenchymal lineages,according to the International Society for Cell and Gene Therapy(ISCT).This review provides an update on recent clinical applications using either hPSCs or MSCs derived from bone marrow(BM),adipose tissue(AT),or the umbilical cord(UC)for the treatment of human diseases,including neurological disorders,pulmonary dysfunctions,metabolic/endocrine-related diseases,reproductive disorders,skin burns,and cardiovascular conditions.Moreover,we discuss our own clinical trial experiences on targeted therapies using MsCs in a clinical setting,and we propose and discuss the MSC tissue origin concept and how MSC origin may contribute to the role of MSCs in downstream applications,with the ultimate objective of facilitating translational research in regenerative medicine into clinical applications.The mechanisms discussed here support the proposed hypothesis that BM-MSCs are potentially good candidates for brain and spinal cord injury treatment,AT-MSCs are potentially good candidates for reproductive disorder treatment and skin regeneration,and UC-MsCs are potentially good candidates for pulmonary disease and acute respiratory distress svndrometreatment. | Duc M.Hoang Phuong T.Pham Trung Q.Bach Anh T.L.Ngo Quyen T.Nguyen Trang T.K.Phan Giang H.Nguyen Phuong T.T.Le Van T.Hoang Nicholas R.Forsyth Michael Heke Liem Thanh Nguyen | 2022 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,9: | 7 |

| 3 | Anti-inflammatory effects of alkaloid enriched extract from roots of Eurycoma longifolia Jack显示文摘Objective: To examine the in vitro and in vivo anti-inflammatory effects of the alkaloid enriched extract(ELA) from the roots of Eurycoma longifolia. Methods: The in vitro antiinflammatory effects of ELA were evaluated by examining its inhibitory activities against nitric oxide(NO) production and inducible nitric oxide synthase(iN OS) and cyclooxygenase2(COX-2) expressions in lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. The level of NO produced in the culture media was determined by Griess method. The i NOS and COX-2 protein expressions were analyzed by Western blot. The in vivo effect of ELA was evaluated on LPS-induced septic shock in mice model. Mice mortality was monitored for5 days after injection of LPS. The chemical contents of the ELA were determined by using various chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques. Results: The ELA was found to exhibit a significant anti-inflammatory effect in both in vitro and in vivo models. The results demonstrated that ELA dose-dependently inhibited LPS-induced NO production as well as the protein iN OS and COX-2 expressions. In the septic shock model, ELA dose-dependently protected mice from LPS-induced mortality. Further study on the isolated components of ELA indicated that 9,10-dimethoxycanthin-6-one may contribute significantly to the antiinflammatory effects of the extract. | 11 | A comparative analysis of weight-based machine learning methods for landslide susceptibility mapping in Ha Giang area显示文摘Landslide susceptibility maps (LSMs) are very crucial for planningpolicies in hazardous areas. However, the accuracy and reliability ofLSMs depend on available data and the selection of suitable methods.This study is conducted to produce LSMs by combinations of machinelearning methods and weighting techniques for Ha Giang province,Vietnam, where has limited data. In study area, we gather 11 landslideconditioning factors and establish a landslide inventory map.Computing the weights of classes (or factors) is very important toprepare data for machine learning methods to generate LSMs. Wefrst use frequency ratio (FR) and analytic hierarchy process (AHP)techniques to generate the weights. Then, random forest (RF), supportvector machine (SVM), logistic regression (LR), and AHP methods arecombined with FR and AHP weights to yield accurate and reliableLSMs. Finally, the performance of these methods is evaluated by fivestatistical metrics, ROC and R-index. The empirical results have shownthat RF is the best method in terms of R-index and the five metrics, i.e.TP rate (0.9661), FP rate (0.0), ACC (0.9835), MAE (0.0046), and RMSE(0.0350) for this study area. | 12 | Brunner’s gland hyperplasia associated with lipomatous pseudohypertrophy of the pancreas presenting with gastrointestinal bleeding:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Brunner’s gland hyperplasia(BGH)is a rare benign lesion of the duodenum.Lipomatous pseudohypertrophy(LiPH)of the pancreas is an extremely rare disease.Because each condition is rare,the probability of purely coincidental coexistence of both conditions is extremely low.CASE SUMMARY We report a 26-year-old man presenting to our hospital with symptoms of recurrent upper gastrointestinal bleeding.Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy showed a huge pedunculated polypoid lesion in the duodenum with bleeding at the base of the lesion.Histopathological examination of the duodenal biopsy specimens showed BGH.Besides,abdominal computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed marked fat replacement over the entire pancreas,confirmed by histopathological evaluation on percutaneous pancreatic biopsies.Based on the radiological and histological findings,LiPH of the pancreas and BGH were diagnosed.The patient refused any surgical intervention.Therefore,he was managed with supportive treatment.The patient’s symptoms improved and there was no further bleeding.CONCLUSION This is the first well-documented case showing the coexistence of LiPH of the pancreas and BGH. | Long Cong Nguyen Khanh Truong Vu Trang Thi Thuy Vo Chau Ha Trinh Tan Dang Do Ngoc Thi Van Pham Tuyen Van Pham Thanh Tuan Nguyen Hiep Canh Nguyen Jeong-Sik Byeon | 2021 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2021,9,31: | 0 |
| 13 | Analysis of Storm Pattern for Design Urban Drainage System in the Monsoon Areas of Vietnam显示文摘In Vietnam,rainfall data usually received using daily rainfall at all hydrology stations with higher time resolution are scarce.However,its analyses to achieve IDF(Intensity-Duration-Frequency)curves are often required at a finer scale such as hourly.Therefore,it needs to develop and apply methods to derive the IDF characteristics of short-duration events from daily rainfall statistics in Vietnam.In recent years,the need for new insights into the rainfall process leading to new approaches to model the distribution of rainfall intensities in time and space was recognized.This research aims to establish IDF curves for monsoon climate area in Vietnam based on scaling method.Scaling properties of extreme rainfall are examined in the Red River Delta of Vietnam in order to establish scaling behavior of statistical moments over different durations.Such scaling or scale-invariant models enable us to scale data from one temporal resolution to another,and thus,help to overcome the lack of the extreme rainfall data of sub-daily durations.The disaggregation or downscaling techniques are used to obtain sub-daily rainfall data from daily rainfall data for the derivation of scaled IDF curves.Research results show that most of rainfall amount(approximately 70%)received from rains occurring between 6:0 pm to 6:0 am of the day after that,the daytime usually less rainfall occurrence with only 30%.The peak rainfall is usually occurred during 0:0 am to 4:0 am having approximately 42.98%of rainfall amount over a day.The peak rainfall likely happen earlier in the recent year(36%rainfall amount over a day occurrence from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm in 2008).The analysis also illustrated that approximately 40%of rainfall events have duration less than 60 minutes.In contrast,only approximately 9%of rainfall events have duration more than 6 hours but total rainfall depths of these events is approximately. | Bui Thi Thu Trang Nguyen Thi Hong Hanh Nguyen Thi Hoai Thuong Nguyen Van Thuan | 2018 | Journal of Environmental Science and Engineering(A)2018,7,2: | 0 |
| 14 | Performance Comparison of Chemically Modified Sugarcane Bagasse for Removing Cd(II) in Water Environment显示文摘This paper evaluates the adsorption capacity of chemically sugarcane bagasses with sodium hydroxide(SHS),citric acid(CAS),tartaric acid(TAS)and unmodified sugarcane bagasse(SB)for cadmium adsorption in water environment.The results prove adsorption capacity for Cd(II)increases after chemical modification and the adsorption fits perfectly with the Langmuir isotherm.CAS had the highest maximum adsorption capacity of 45.45 mg/g followed by TAS with 38.46 mg/g and SHS with 29.41 at optimum pH 5.0 and 120 minutes equilibrium time while 1 g SB removed 18.8 mg Cd(II)in the same conditions.The kinetics study of the process followed a pseudo-secondorder rate expression,that indicated a strong interaction between the biosorbents and adsorbate.The sugarcane bagasse and modified sugarcane bagasse were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)analysis.The chemical modification was confirmed by the presence of carboxyl and esters groups created at 1,738 cm-1.The estimation of acid groups in modified materials shows the enhancement of this group after modification.On the other hand,desorption studies showed the high leaching of cadmium ion from the biosorbent leading to the efficient reutilization of materials. | Manh Khai Nguyen Minh Trang Hoang Thi Thuy Pham Bart Van der Bruggen | 2019 | Journal of Renewable Materials2019,7,5: | 0 |
